App store- $1 Deducted.

Hello Friends,
I recently got registered on App store. I downloaded the 'Wallpapers HD Lite' application only to find that i have been charged $1, but the application was under the category 'Top Free', meaning no money should be deducted. So All i want to know is do they charge $1 even if an application is free or was $1 deducted for registration?

It's an authorization hold.

Apple will ask you to "verify" your billing information every time you download a paid or free app.
The authorization holds do appear on my bank statements but are credited within 24 to 48 hours.

if enable the 3G and off it immediatly then I am getting Internet for that day

How to I find out the most recent deductions to my account from the app store (say, for a recent download for additional functionality on a iPad game). Much as I try, I can't seem to get to see my account in enough detail to see what I have spent downloading apps to the ipad.

You need to punch in the passcode for any purchase right, not just for new apps??
If one of the other students, or anyone else, got access to your iTunes Store account, necessary to make any purchases, then they'd have all the information they'd need to also make in-app purchases. But an in-app purchase can only be made through the account through which the original app was purchased. Either your son bought the game (free or paid) and then shared it with someone else along with the account information (necessary to authorize the app on someone else's device), or someone else downloaded the game as well, not just made in-app purchases.
In any case, changing your iTunes Store password should now have cut off any such unauthorized activity, though of course if your son gives the new password out, you'll be back to square one.

It's listed in the store as 170. What shows on your email receipt and/or on your purchase history : if you log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it, if you click on that link your purchases should be listed with the most recent above the list.
And did you add or change the credit card details on your iTunes account when making the purchase ? If you have then each time that you do so a small temporary store holding charge may be applied to check that the card details are correct and valid and that it's registered to exactly the same name and address as on your iTunes account - it should disappear off your account within a few days or so.

For the 3 * 60 did you add or change, three times, your credit card details on your iTunes account ? Each time that you do so a small temporary store holding charge (i.e. Rs 60) may be applied to check that the card details are correct and valid and that it's registered to exactly the same name and address as on your iTunes account - it should disappear off your account within a few days or so.

Few days back I wanted to download BBM for iPhone to which I was diverted to New Zealand App Store automatically.
So whenever I tried to download apps from the AppStore it said, I wasn't in the region which I should be that is India and being in different region I can't download any app.
So I followed the instructions as above. After updating the region and the proceeding pages of the instruction. There was a deduction of money.
I didn't buy any gift card or anything neither I went to that page.

I have store credit in iTunes but want to buy an app for my mac from the App Store. How can i use the store credit?

Apple ID: U.S. credit card in Dutch App Store

I know there's more of you out there in a similar situation. I'm an American living in the Netherlands permanently. I maintain my bank accounts in the U.S. including my credit cards. I created an Apple ID for the Dutch store using the one Dutch credit card I had. Apparently something has happened to that card because my last app payment didn't process so now it's asking me to enter new credit card info. Now, the credit cards I have were issued from a U.S. bank (USAA) but I had to put my foreign address on them for billing. I use these cards in many places over here but for some reason iTunes won't accept them. In fact, when I tried to create a U.S. iTunes/App store account with my U.S. credit cards, it wouldn't let me...it pushed me to the Dutch one because of the Dutch billing address.
I really wish there could be one central International App Store, especially since Apple products are international.
I'm looking for any suggestions here. Maybe I've overlooked something in the setup of my accounts that would allow me to setup a U.S. iTunes account with a U.S. credit card that happens to have a foreign address.

Nothing will be deducted from your credit card if the app is free.
There will be a authorizing hold of US$1.00 to verify your account information. It will be credited back to your account later.

If the card has been redeemed then its remaining amount should be on your account, the card itself is now effectively zero. My account's balance shows at the top left of the store's page on my computer's iTunes, and by logging in to view my account via the Store > View Account menu option. On my devices it shows at the bottom of, for example, the Featured tab in the App Store app under my account id (or you can view your account via Settings > iTunes & App Stores and it should show on the screen that you are taken to).
As long as you are buying content for yourself then purchases should be deducted from your balance - if you are gifting content then that can only be done from a credit card.
