App store error message - Item is being modified

I can not download a couple of game apps. The error message says the items are being modified and I should try again later. Since these apps are free today only, I won't get the sale price if I download later.
Whats going on at the app store?

No one seems to have any answers so far, but you may want to watch/add to this thread:

Wish I could be more help, I've been having the same problem.  =\

I'm trying to buy Dhafer Youssef album "Digital Prophecy" from finnish iTMS. When i click "Buy Now" in my shopping cart, iTunes will give me various error messages,
    "Item is being modified",
"Your shopping cart's contents have changed." or
"We could not complete your Music Store request. The server was not found."
I've bought several albums from iTMS before with no problems. I know for sure that there is no problems in my credit card or so. Also "the item" i am trying to buy, has been "being modified" for more than week already, so the problem must be somewhere else than just that it's price is being changed or so.
Anyone with a fix for this problem? I am running the latest version of Tiger, and all the latest updates from Software Update, both Quicktime and iTunes are as up-to-date as they can be.

They've been having problems with various albums. it's listed at two different prices but appears to be the same album. Others who have had this problem have clicked on the review page and downloaded their selection from there. I don't see that for this selection.
Try to purchase the $7.92 version.

I cannot download nor update apps through Apps Store, error message states that app cannot be downloaded, to try again later, this has been happening for the  last five days. Help!
It started when tryung to update Twitter. Now the problem is with every app I try to update or download.

I have this issue as well. The App Store icon indicates there are updates available but when I open the app a popup says it can't connect to the store and the screen remains white. I have tried a hard reset (power & home button) and several other suggestions I have found throughout the forums here without success.

  • Error message: "song is being modified - check back later"

Can anyone give info on this?
I've been getting this message for over a week now when I try to purchase any recordings from one specific artist, Gordon Hempton. The "Buy Album" or "Buy Song" button is there for every selection, I click on buy, and it looks like it's going to download the purchased song; but then this error message pops up.
What kind of "modifying" is going on that it takes this long? Why is the music still listed on iTunes if it can't be purchased? I don't get this message on any other artist, and everything else is working fine as always.

Welcome to discussions! This message indicates that the file is being worked on for whatever reason. I know you have said that you have been trying for awhile to purchase but I would give it a few more days. I've seen these types of problems with store files take several works to resolve.

  • App Store error message - Thai Store?!?

When attempting to use the App Store I receive a message that the App I am attempting to download is not available from the Thai store - that I must switch to the US store. I have never switched to a Thai store. I first started getting this message while in Italy a week ago and it persists now that I've returned to the US.  I cannot locate settings options that might help me switch back to the US store (even though I didn't switch out to begin with). Help?

  • App store error message "could not sign in" "an unknown error has occurred"

has anyone else gotten this message when trying to sign into the app store:
"could not sign in" "an unknown error has occurred"
i know my password is correct, i signed in on my macbook and on my imac and no issue there.
i called apple and they coulnd't figure out what it is, i reset my network settings and same thing. of course i can't do a restore because i'm at work and we don't have the new lighting cords here for me to hook up to my imac

I experienced this problem, too -- and with the help of an Apple support rep, figured out a way out.
Go into Settings and turn off automatic date and time, and set your phone back a year. Then go back and turn automating date and time back on, to get back to the present. Now go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores, click on your AppleID, and re-enter it and your password. Finally, go back to the App Store (or iTunes Store) and try to download what you had been trying before -- and if you're like me, it will now pop up with a new set of Terms and Conditions for you to approve. After you approve, you'll be able to download whatever you had been trying to.
It appeared, in my case, that Apple needed to present me with a new Terms & Conditions to approve, but for some reason, iOS 6 and the Apple mother ship weren't communicating correctly about how to do that, and I was stuck with the "Could Not Sign In" message. Changing the iPhone's time and/or re-signing in via Settings > iTunes & App Stores resolved the roadblock for some reason. Hope this works for others as well!

  • Mac App Store error message

Hello. I've successfully purchased a number of apps through the App Store and app updates are installing just fine... but... when I click on the UPDATE buton for OS X Lion (I purchased it), one of two things happens:
    1. I get an error message saying "An error has occurred" and it doesn't update.
    2. I get back a message indicating that it was purchased under a different Apple ID, but I know for a FACT that I have used one and only one Apple ID for all Mac App Store and iTunes Store purchases.
It's odd that OS X Lion successfully updated from 10.7.0 to 10.7.1, but the installer won't update.
    Suggestions? Ideas?

I've had numerous issues with the app store myself.  Purchased a new macbook air three days ago and set it up with a brand new app id, I don't buy stuff from the app store but you pretty much must have an id.  It tells me that I should update iPhoto and iMovie, so I click on there to update them and get the same error message as you, telling me that the apps are under a different account.
Bam out of luck, been round and round with email support.  They indicated in the last email that Apple is aware of the issue at least.

  • Mac app store error message failed download.

When I try to download an app from the Mac App Store  I get an error message  "failed to download use the purchases page to try again".
How do I fix this problem on OS Mavericks 10.9.4?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • App store error message on Macbook (2010)

I'm trying to download an app from the App Store and receiving this error message: "We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (4)". I've tried clearing the caches in iTunes and that didn't help. This occured even after upgrading to Lion. The app I want to download is only available through the App Store.

  • Solution to Error: "The item is being modified. Please try again later"

I've been dogged by this message for months now, unable to update previously purchased apps to their newer version. After a bit of research this morning, I believe I've solved the issue. Hope this helps those out there with the same problem!
Somewhere along the way, I changed my e-mail address AND my "apple ID" on iTunes to same. Since that time, any old apps that I had purchased and installed on the iPhone have received the error message when trying to update.
What you need to do is to sign in to your "old" iTunes account (or possibly change the apple ID back to the old one) within iTunes, and then synch the iPhone again. Doing so will change your apple ID on the iPhone (temporarily) and allow you to update those old apps.
When complete, don't forget to go back in and reset the login to your current one! Good luck!

They've been having problems with various albums. it's listed at two different prices but appears to be the same album. Others who have had this problem have clicked on the review page and downloaded their selection from there. I don't see that for this selection.
Try to purchase the $7.92 version.

  • App Store Error Message

Some time ago I have downloaded an App called Cool Hunting.
Since then, when I download other Apps or updates a popup appears saying that "is impossible to download Cool Hunting" also if it's still installed.
The message does not appear every time i download something but randomly.
I have just erased the App from all my devices but sometimes the error message still appears.
    What else can I do?

Okay, then the following boiler plate summarizes most of the things you can try in this situation:
Your Users Guide has a whole chapter (at the end) devoted to what you do when things aren't going well, generally following the sequence of
Restart - red slider, then boot up again
Force Quit apps - either via Sleep/Wake followed by Home, or via Recents Tray
Reset - hold Home & Sleep/Wake to force reboot
Reset iPad Settings - Settings > General >Reset
Erase All Content -   same as above
Restore iPad Software - iTunes or iOS 5 equivalent
You start at #1 and work your way through until the issue you're seeing goes away. If you get through all of the steps and it still doesn't work, you're pretty much out of gas and have to start talking to Apple.
It sounds like you've covered everything up to and including #3 above. So, start at #4 and work on from there. If you have further questions about any of these steps you'll find them discussed in your Users Guide.
