Apple Help Center Menu Error Message
This is about the "Help Center". When I click on it from an application or from the Finder, I get an error message "The selected topic is currently unavaliable. Make sure you're connected to the Internet. For help connecting ..." etc. This happens when I AM connected to the internet. It may or may not bring up a menu with topics, but if I have that and click a topic, I get this message. So in order to get help I have to come in through the Apple Support website directly. Am I missing something? Is there a setting I should be enabling somewhere?
Thiis is a general fix for not being able to view help menu topics, I don't know if it will work in your case because I'm not familiar with the alret you are getting but it can't hurt to try as these are only cache files.
From your "Go" menu choose "Go to Folder" then enter ~/Library/Caches
Delete these items
com.apple.helpd
com.apple.helpviewer
Log out and back in or restart.
It may be a bit slower the first time until the cache catches up.

Adjusting the date or time didn't do anything for me either. I'm guessing my two options are to either do the full restore from scratch and not apply any backup ... Or possibly wait for an iOS update that might resolve this issue.
I'm not that much of an avid twitter user that I need it implemented natively in all my devices - so for now I'll probably value all my game save data, internal settings in apps e.t.c. over that functionality (or over the amount of work it would be to get me back to where I am now after a full wipe). I'll see what happens after the next iOS delta update. I'll reevaluate the full wipe after that if the issue hasn't been resolved -

Initially I got an error message saying can't connect because of Date & Time settings.
Went in and re-verified that those were correct.
Tried to update downloads and then got a new error message: "Can't connect to iTunes Store".
I live in the US and that's where I created my iTunes a/d and Apple ID.
I am currently in India --- can that coause confusion re date & time? -
Help with the error message that ADE is not allowed to copy a book onto my Nook. I have tried authorizing and unauthorizing many times--at wits end with this issue.
I too am having the same problem. I have a new hard drive that was imaged from the old one and I'm trying to side load a book to my Nook Simple Touch.. I first installed ADE 4 then borrowed and downloaded a book from Overdrive. I tried a few times to delete and reauthorize both the computer and the Nook and each time I get an authorization error when I try to side load the book. I then found on the Nook forum that the Simple Touch and ADE 4 don't get along. So I uninstalled ADE 4 and installed ADE 3.
I then followed this recommended procedure found on the forum: I deleted the Digital Editions folder from my Nook, launched ADE 3 and authorized the computer, then connected the Nook. For a few seconds, hovering the mouse over the setting icon for the Nook displayed everything on the context menu grayed out. But then it showed the context menu and I was able to display the Nook's authorization, which was the same as the computer's. Still get the same error side loading the book. Deleting and reauthorizing doesn't help. And the Digital Editions folder is still missing from the Nook. -

I should have mentioned that I have already done the Resolving Permissions as outline on Apple Support pages, but, I went ahead and did the complete sequence as shown on Dr. Smokes.
I decided to stop beating a dead horse and did an Erase and Install of 10.2 again since I did not have anything on there yet. So far, everything is working perfectly. I am doing the Software Updates called for one by one to see if any of those caused the problem.
The only thing I did other than doing all of the updates after the install was to install OS 9.2 for my Classic Environment software and I also installed an HP PSC 1315v All-In-One scanner/printer. I cannot imagine that would have done anything.
I did have some strange issues with Where in the USA is Carmen Sandiego and The Star Fleet Technical manual so I may stay away from them unless I start in OS 9 if none of the other updates cause any issues.
Thanks. BTW, How should I rate your answer? I know that it did not solve my problem, but, it is likely that something else I did whacked something.

Help with an error message: This edit cannot be done...
"This edit cannot be done because a transition would be cut or an item to one side of a transition would become too short."
Can someone please help me understand this one? I have a project with self made lower thirds from a .tif graphic on V2 and a text track on V3. Each track has a 15 frame Edge Wipe on both ends. Within the sequence I have no problem either drag copying both tracks together or even copy/pasting them further down the sequence.
The error pops up when I try to copy/paste to a different sequence. Regardless of whether I try to paste it above my video on V1 or past the video's end I still get that error message.
If I delete the transitions, I can copy/paste just fine and re-add them, but it's so frustrating. I really just want to understand what's going on here. Could someone explain this in layman's terms?
Edit: I should also add that if I Option-Click the Toggle Auto Select for track two, I can paste just fine. Which might lead me to believe that it's trying to paste to track V1 where video is already laid down, except that even if I try to paste after the video it still won't work. If I'm copying track V2 and V3, shouldn't paste automatically past to V2 and V3?
Message was edited by: The BundokI had this problem before. I like to disable extra services to speed up my computer and I disabled the Apple Mobile Device service and had to re-enable this.
You can do that by going Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services. Once you have gone to the services window, look for Apple Mobile Device and right-click. Select "Properties". There should be some information about the service as well as the label "Startup Type" with a drop-down menu beside it. If it says "disabled", that is your problem; Change the selection to anything except disabled (Automatic is easier and ensures that you can sync as soon as itunes opens).
If this doesn't work, I would look into your anti-virus' settings. Good Luck! -

The most recent update I have in the App Store is an OSX update but I receive this error message when I select the update button. (The operation couldn’t be completed. NSURLErrorDomain error -1012. -1012. Can anyone tell me why or how to delete this update in the que from the app center and try again? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have a MacBook 13 Aluminum using Mountain Lion/MavericksX. Soon after I did a random update for iTunes mid June 2014 I noticed that I could no longer open my mail on my desktop. I did tell Apple about it when the error message came up, but I haven't heard anything and the last update 7/1/14 didn't help. I can use Entourage, but I like Apple mail better. Any ideas? Yow

I had all but given up on the Apple mail. Then I remembered that I hadn't checked it since my last X update yesterday. So, I tried and of course, APPL fixed it. Apple is so fantastic. Sorry but there is no problem to work on.Well I feel a bit silly about this. I gave up on Apple mail and was using Entourage. Yesterday I did the most recent update from APPL and hadn't checked to see if they'd come up with a fix. I'd written them to ask about it because the error occurred after the iTunes update so I figured there was a bug. I just opened it, and poof, apple mail again. It did go through something and dinged and opened. Thank you for writing me. Y

Can anyone help me with Error Message 3036??
I tried to contact tech support about this. Well, that was a dead end. They told me I had a firewall that was blocking the downloads to resume and sending up an error message, but no cigar, because guess what?? I don't have Firewalls!!! Anyone older, wiser, and more experienced out there (aka tech wizards) to help a poor lost soul out?? Basically, I open iTunes and notice that there's downloads available to send to my PC, then I click the 'resume download' button, and the error message "Unable to check for downloads. An unknown error occured (3036)." pops up. I thought if the error was unknown, they wouldn't know that it was "Error 3036", but apparently 'Unknown' doesn't mean unknown anymore. Please, please help me!!

[Solved] Grub not displaying menu, error messages from grub-mkconfig
Hi I'm new
I have (or rather, am trying to setup) a dual boot with Windows 8.1 and Arch, with each OS on separate SSDs.
Windows 8.1 already installed, Arch installation (seems to have) has gone smoothly. However, when I remove the installation usb, and try to boot, I get a command line prompt:
grub >_
...instead of a menu. I tried typing 'boot', but got 'you need to load the kernel first'. So I cannot access my arch installation without chrooting (or knowing how to compile the kernel in the command line, which I could not find after a lot of searching)
I followed the documentation in the Beginner's Guide and the GRUB page for installing and configuring GRUB. This is UEFI (grub2), not BIOS (grub legacy).
pacman -S grub efibootmgr
grub-install --target=x86S64-efi --efi-directory=/boot --bootloader-id=arch_grub --recheck
No error messages. I also installed os-prober for kicks. When I went to generate the config file (as recommended for beginners), I got a torrent of what I interpreted to be error messages, not just copacetic output:
grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
resulted in:

(sorry about the image. I had to shutdown and reboot into my windows partition, since I still can't arch it up. If any/all of you have a better way to reproduce output and feel it pertinent, I'm all ears)
so upon exiting chroot and rebooting, grub boots up to the above effect; no menu is displayed. And I am sad panda.
Background Information:
Partition scheme:
/dev/sda1 - BIOS boot partition (I didn't read carefully, lol)
/dev/sda2 - EFI System Partition - mounted to /mnt/boot when chrooting in
/dev/sda3 - Root partition - mounted to /mnt/ when chrooting in
/dev/sda4 - Home partition - mounted to /mnt/home when chrooting in
The installation and configuration described above was done in chroot with the above partition scheme
I originally had issues booting into UEFI mode with the arch iso (written to a usb stick for the initial install). The boot would hang at 'triggering uevents'. I ultimately fixed this by pressing 'e' in the bootloader menu (also grub, I believe) and prepended
linux /boot/vmlinux-linux root=UUID=978e3e81-8048-4ae1-8a06-aa727458e8ff nomodeset nouveau.modeset=0
It then (successfully triggered uevents? and) booted normally

Last edited by Otsdarva (2014-06-09 03:22:25)I realized that since I was not using EFISTUB, I could not mount the ESP to /boot; it had to be /boot/efi. A quick remount-reinstall of grub, then rerunning grub-mkconfig solved the issue.
Also, regarding WonderWoofy's suggestion: I learned by trying gummiboot that for whatever reason the kernel hadn't compiled properly when I ran
pacstrap /mnt base base-devel
Fixed via
pacman -S linux

I looked thought the documens and his instuctions seem a bit over the top. So to help we can iver start from the begining or try to fix what you have. If you want to fix what you have I first need to know:
1) where did you put the baikal-regular folder after you downloaded it?
2) Can you cut and past "/etc/apache2/httpd.conf It is wrong.
