Apple insist I have 2 accounts, but details all the same! Now lost apps...

Really hoping someone can help... Although I'm a fan of Apple, each software update always drives me potty.
I recently swapped my iPhone 3g for the 4s. I also use a first generation iPad. Although I use exactly the same email and password on both, for some reason each time I swap from one to the other, it asks for a new password, saying it doesn't recognise the one I've just set up on the other device.
Anyway, yesterday I updated the iPad software to the new ios 5. BIG MISTAKE. Despite transferring purchases to iTunes first, it's missed loads and apps I've previously paid for are now missing.

I tried signing on here to ask for support but it said I had TWO accounts. I followed the instructions to find out what these are, and they both have identical email and address details. EH??? That looks like one account in my book? It then wouldn't let me go any further and I've had to register anew to post on here. I suspect this is part of the problem, but how on earth can I:
* Just get Apple to recognise that the accounts are exactly the same and only one account
* Make sure I get all my paid for apps back? There's a good £40 of stuff missing
Any help would be very welcome, I've contacted Apple via the support form but I'm not holding my breath....

Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately the doube account issue has messed it all up - only a few apps are shown, and of course not the expensive ones.
Although I've used the exact same email address and details all the time, for some reason it's still insisting I have 2 accounts.
I've noticed when I log into my account from my pc, only my iPhone and the pc are registered as devices, and not my iPad - I wonder if this is a clue? I have downloaded apps direct from the iPad so really don't understand this, unless of course, this goes back to the fact it thinks the iPad is registered under a different email (although it's the same).
I'm really struggling wth this one!

Of course if you are both connected to the same iCloud account you have the same contacts - what did you expect?. The contacts live on the server and are read from there by the devices; so as you've both managed to sync your contacts up to iCloud they are now inextricably mixed. You can only delete your contacts by deleting individual ones, and doing that will delete them from your phone as well.
You can only unravel this by
1. In the iCloud contacts page at http://icloud.com, select all the contacts, click on the cogwheel icon at bottom left and choose 'Export vCard'.
2. Sign out of System Preferences>iCloud
3. Create a new Apple ID and open a new iCloud account with it for your own use.
4. Import the vCard back into the iCloud contacts page.
5. Go to http://icloud.com and sign in with the original ID. This is now his ID. Work through the contacts individually deleting the ones you don't want him to have. When done sign out and advise him to change his password.
6. Go to the new iCloud account and delete his contacts individually.
Of course if you have also been syncing calendars and using the same email address there are problems with doing this.

Hi eddinchina,
You should have no need to use the Old Sync account.
As long as device or devices are Firefox 29 or later (They should all be Firefox 30 now) you should use the New Sync.
You may use the same email address with both accounts.

Hello, I am finishing up High School ready to go to college, and I wanted to make a new iTunes account with my billing information so I could start fresh. I have an iPod synced to a current account, and the rest of my family has their computers synced to this universal account as well. What I'm really trying to do is just create a new account, but find a way to move all of my apps, music, and movies to this account as well, all while keeping the old account untouched. Any infromation for this would be greatly appreciated.

Content can't be moved from the old account to the new one unless the iTunes Store staff says otherwise. You'll be able to use the old content after setting up the new account, but will require the old account's password to be able to update it or make in-app purchases from it.

You cannot set up an iCloud account on Windows - is that where you tried to do it? The error message you quote is what happens when, having an Apple ID, you attempt to use it on Windows to create an iCloud account. You can create an iCloud account on a Mac or an iOS device, then you can sign into it in the Windows Control Panel. None of this should have any effect in the iTunes Store (the forum for which is where you have posted).

Best option is to make each a user on the computer then it work as it should otherwise you need to change appleid in itunes between phones being connected

If the music plays fine in iTuneds on the comouter try:
- Unsyncing all the music and then resyncing the music
- Restoring from backup
- Restoring to factoru defaults/new iPOd.

I tried to reset my password using apple Id method, but the password I typed is incorrect. I'm sure that that's the right password because I use that ID for downloading apps from my iPhone every time. So what's wrong? That's my only way I can reset my password because I forgot my master password.:(

What iOS is the phone running? If it is iOS 7, then as ramzee209 indicated, you must contact the seller to get any further.
If it is running an earlier iOS, you can hook it up to the computer where you iTunes library is located, and restore it:
Place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

Make sure your user account has full administrative permissions. Then, at this stage of the game, I would take the following steps:
- Re-create the Preferences file following these instructions:
Re-create the Photoshop Elements preferences file to eliminate problems that a damaged preferences file might cause.
Note: When you use this solution, Photoshop Elements will create a new preferences file and you will lose custom settings associated with your current preferences file. However, the file you rename in step 2 is your original preferences file. If you determine that the preferences file is not causing the problem, then you can restore your custom settings by undoing the instructions below.
To re-create the Photoshop Elements preferences file:
Quit Photoshop Elements.
Locate the Adobe Photoshop Elements preferences files. In Photoshop Elements 5.0, there are two preferences files, one for Organizer and one for Editor:

I doubt that this will fix your problem, however, it is always the first thing to try. If it does not, take these steps:
- Uninstall Photoshop Elements
- Run the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301)
- Reinstall Elements
- Reinstall the 5.0.2 patch

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

Welcome to the Support Communities!
If you are using the same Apple ID on both devices, the Game Center profile should be the same.
Check out this information from the iPad User Guide. Try signing out of the Game Center on both devices and then sign back in with the correct Apple ID:
