Apple Store says 10.3 req'd. Packaging says 10.4 req'd. ???

I just checked out the Airport Express online today decided I wanted to get one. So I went to my nearest Apple store, picked up the Airport Express box and on the System Requirements it says 10.4 is required. What gives?
The assistant told me I would have to upgrade but I want to wait until Leopard comes out. And yet the Apple website it will work with 10.3. So who's right?

The OS X version is important only for the use of the AirPort utility provided with the AirPort Express Base Station (AX). 10.4+ is required for the newer AirPort Utility. The earlier versions, the AirPort Admin Utility & the AirPort Setup Assistant, will run on version prior to this.
What I don't know is, whether or not, the latest AXs are shipped with the new Utility. The fact that the specs on the box state the need for 10.4+ tells me that they do.

    Hi  OK my iPad has the latest/greatest version of ios - Mavricks?  Anyway, we bought out iMac in the spring and I installed Pages.  It apparently is so out of date that the new doc I created on my iPad can not talk to my iMac.  Apple Store says that  Pages is installed.  Under general settings there is nothing to update.  Ah...what do I do to get the docs to work?  I don't have time (or energy) to spend hours on this.

    If you look in the Applications folder do you see Pages?  If so, that should be the new version.  Launch it and try to open one of your existing Pages documents.

    Personally, I would not recommend deleting/removing the iWorks 09 folder for several reasons: one is that the new versions have had several functionalities removed and until you decide that you can work with the new one and do not miss any features the older version had, I would leave the old one in place. Personally, I will not be using the new versions.
    The second reason is that you can accomplish what you want using a different approach: simply open a Get Info window of your document and choose which version of Pages you want this to open in - you can also stipulate that all docs like this are opened with whichever particular version.
    FWIW: Once you have edited an old document in the new Pages version, you can no longer open it in the older version. However, you can still export it to the old version.

    It sounds like you have a user account named Ghost, that you want to delete all content from and remove from the computer. This article will help you do that named:

    Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Users & Groups or click Parental Controls.
    Click the lock icon to unlock it, and then type an administrator name and password.
    Select the user account you want to delete, and then click Delete below the account list.
    Do one of the following:
    Select “Save the home folder in a disk image” to save the folder as a disk image in /Users/Deleted Users/.
    Select “Don’t change the home folder” to leave the home folder in /Users/.
    Select “Delete the home folder” to remove it from the computer. If you want to prevent programs that read raw data from retrieving any files, select “Erase home folder securely.”
    Click OK.
    Keep in mind, if you remove the user and delete the data, without Time Machine you will not be able to restore any data from it in the future.

  • Stuck home button, Apple store say they cant help

    My home button is stuck in the down position.
    Went into Apple store and because the phone is over 12 months they said they couldnt help.
    I still have several months of my 24 month contract but the phone isnt up to the longevity to match.

    You can do an out-of-warranty replacement of your product at an Apple Store for $149 USD. Did they not offer to do this?
    You can go to a 3rd party repair site and have just the home button replaced for less but this will eliminate the ability in the future to do an out-of-warranty replacement.
    Against the terms of use here to do a poll but since you asked the question have I ever had a product fail after the warranty ended and couldn't get it fixed under warranty that would be a very long list and would include products from Samsung, Nokia, Motorola, etc. Before you purchase your next phone ask what the length of the warranty is and then ask if they will fix your device for free after the warranty expires. If they say yes get it in writing.

    I bought this iPhone while backpacking through Europe 2 years ago. It was the first thing i did after i got off the airplane to help me navigate, book hostels, trains, flights, and talk with family back home. it cost me around 700-800 US dollars, full price since they do pricing/contracts different over in the UK.
    It's been a couple years, and I'm ready to ditch my 6 year old Samsung and move on to this iPhone. The problem is, since i wasn't using the UK service for a while, they dropped my number/user account completely and they can no longer unlock my iPhone. I talked to AT&T and the Apple store, and they said that the only way I can unlock my iPhone is by contacting the service company that i originally purchased this from--whom can't help since i no longer have an account with them.
    How do i LEGALLY unlock this iPhone for use in the US?

    Only the wireless provider to which an iPhone is locked can unlock it.
    You may have to get a PayAsYouGo sim from that provider to activate
    your account with them so you can get the iPhone unlocked.
    There is not other legal way to unlock the iPhone for use with other than
    the wireless carrier to which it is locked. Contact them to see what options
    they offer for re-activating the iPhone on their network.

  • Apple store says ipod mini not working b/c not using usb port 2.0 - true?

    My ipod mini (a year old) is frozen/can't be charged. Apple store guy said because I've been using usb port 1.1 and that it is supposed to be used with usb port 2.0. Tells me won't send in for replacement (out of warranty anyway) unless I first update my computer with USB 2.0 card. Is this true?

    It's better to use 2.0 because it's faster.
    Try resetting it, hold the center [select] button and the menu button until the Apple logo appears. or let the battery die, and then plug it in.

    My ipod touch has gone dead, it is only 1 and half old, apple shop says it is just old and cant b repaired,surely it should last longer than this, anyone out there experienced same. really angry as I have just bought one for my grandson for this Xmas.

    Like all products, especially electrical ones, some have short lifes.  Apple does not fix your broken iPod.  They will exchange it for a refurbished one it for $99, $149 or $199 depending upon the capacity.

I'm in the UK and been using the apple store for over 4 months without any problems and just downloaded a game called payback @ 221meg for my Ipod touch, but when i goto choose a country in the list, united kingdom is not even there ??? what gives, is it a temp problem or is my account on both the pc & ipod touch f*ked cheers

    SoHo isn't your only option in NYC. Take a look at the excerpt below:
    Sorry about your experience. The Apple Store in SoHo is especially hectic, and perhaps not the best place to go for service in NYC, especially if you're already a little agitated before you go in there.
    In the future, consider servicing your computer at (my favorite) Digital Society on East 10th Street ( http://www.digsoc.com/ ) or Tekserve on West 23rd Street ( http://www.tekserve.com/ ). Both are AASPs and Apple Specialists.

Now when i bought a song on this computer from the apple store, i have just been sent an email that says Your Apple ID, was just used to purchase (a song ) by a computer that had not been previously associated with that apple id.  So do i have to tell apple now somehow i am using itunes on this pc, and if so how? Because i authorised it and it said this pc was one of 5 aujthorised.  if anyone can be of assistance then great!

    I'm having a similar problem.  I had previously (over a year ago) purchased 2 episodes of Law & Order.  Then about 2 months ago, I purchased the 3rd season of Sons of Anarchy.  When I downloaded these episodes to my iPad, about a dozen full seasons of various shows popped up, too.  No money was removed from my iTunes account & theses particular shows aren't in my iTunes library on my desktop.  I've tried every which way to delete them from my ipad, but can't.  I went to the Apple store & they suggested I contact expresslane.apple.com for help.  I submitted my problem, via email Friday, as they asked, but have not received any response.  Any suggestions on how to get rid of these "phantoms?".

    First, make sure your TV is tuned to display the correct input signal. Most TVs have several inputs (multiple HDMIs, cable connections, RCA etc) so double-check that you're using the correct one - HDMI1, HDMI2 or whatever is written next to the port.
    I assume that you have a mini-Displayport to HDMI adaptor? If you open displays preferences, first tick the box that says "show display preferences in menu bar" then locate the menu and click Detect Displays. See if that helps.

    Are you buying from the correct Print Products Store?  If you are using the wrong store, your AppleID may not be valid.
    Is the Print Products Store set correctly in iPhoto Preferences > Advanced?  It should be set to the  same country as your billing address and delivery address, and match the settings of the Apple ID you are using.
    And you are using iPhoto '09 or '11, right?  you can no longer buy books from earlier versions.
    When you reenter your settings as LarryHN described, don't forget to enable Express Checkout. It is required.
