Apple TV and authorize computer

I am trying to play purchases through apple tv but it keepes asking me to authorize computer. This is already authorized. Any ideas ?

I just encountered the same problem; I recently had an update to my Apple TV, and I'm wondering if that caused it.  However, I found a fix:
1) Deauthorize your Mac iTunes library.
2) Shut down iTunes and set the Apple TV to "sleep".
3) Restart iTunes and the Apple TV.
4) Authorize your Mac iTunes library.
Home share will have been automatically shut down when you de-authorized your Mac.
5) Restart Home Share.
...And then I could finally play my purchases using my Apple TV (both bought on my Mac and those purchased through the Apple TV).
Hope that helps!

  • Error message:  Cannot sync songs purchased in iTunes to iTouch because computer is not authorized.  I go in and authorize computer (only computer I have ever used for iTunes), seems to be successful.  Then I try to sync again and it gives same error mesg

It just goes in a circle.  This computer not authorized to sync purchased songs to iTouch.  Follow directions to authorize computer, seems successful.  Sync again and it comes up with the same error message....this computer not authorized to sync iTune purchases to iTouch.  I have deauthorized the computer and reauthorized and it didn't make a difference.  I updated and restored to factory settings.  Still same error message.  I have had this problem the last 2 times I have synced.  Worked previously.  Any ideas??

additional info:  I looked into similar complaints.  1 suggested that something is wrong with the files.  Delete them off of computer and divice (but they are not on my divice anymore) and then download them again from iTunes purchase history.  Went in to check iTunes purchases to make sure the songs would be there if I did follow these steps.  Well, NONE of them are in my purchase history.....probably the real problem here.  I had an original iPod Nano and then upgraded to my current iTouch.....same computer for both.  Could there have been a problem at the point of switching over to the iTouch?  That doesn't make sence to me because it is through iTunes and it was the same account for both.  I thought I'd be smart and put all the songs in a playlist and burn to a CD and them load them back in that way.....but I was not authorized to burn to a CD....go figure.  Any idease would be great!!

  • My iPod touch is stuck at the apple logo, and my computer doesn't recognize it as a device, so I can not restore it.

I went to turn on my iPod Touch 2rd or 3rd generation, and it remained at the apple logo, and when I went to restore it, my computer/iTunes does not recognize it as a device, and so I am unable to restore it. I believe it is on iOS 5.0.1, but I am not sure.
    Thank you!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • If we have 3 iPhones, and use the same iTunes for all content, should we use 3 Apple IDs and authorize for all 3 or just use 1 ID?

I want to enable us to share all apps, music, videos and photos, but enable each phone to keep its contacts and history separate. If I use 1 ID, all new purchases will go on the same credit card, which I'm not sure is ideal, but not horrible. Since we use the same computer and iTunes using only 1 appleID, and the phones are new to the equation since it was only iPods before, what is the best way to handle a family with 3 phones that can share all entertainment content, but not all phone-related stuff? I saw that you can use one AppleID for purchases, but another for iCloud. That may be the best solution, but I don't know enough about this yet to move forward yet- migrating from Android...
    Appreciate the help.

Thanks for the help, but a follow up question now.
My iPhone won't arrive for a little while, but my wife already got hers and she wants to set it up now. Using my Apple ID for the purchases, if she starts setting hers up, can she change her iCloud ID to something else quickly? It keeps telling us that we have to sign in with the AppleID first.
Should we just set up an iCloud account via normal internet before trying all this via iPhone?

  • I'd like to know tips for sharing apps between my wife and myself on two iPads with two apple IDs and one computer.

I'm new to iTunes, app store, and managing content on two iPads and an iPod. I manage both iPads and an iPod on one computer, but we have two apple IDs. All my music is on a home-theatre pc. I don't really understand home sharing yet, and I am hoping for some tips from experienced users to keep me from losing content, or mixing up apps and confusing digital rights etc.

You cannot share apps, or any other content purchased from the iTunes Store, between two different Apple IDs.  Those purchases are tied to the Apple ID.

  • I want to keep the Apple TV and my computer separate

I have movies I just want to dump onto the APPLE TV drive and delete from my computer to save hard disk space. I was told I could just drag content to the apple tv... I don't really care about synching - though I would like to share the library on the computer. How can I do this - that is - have an Apple TV library, and only share the iTunes library on my computer?
    Thanks
    G

    You have been incorrectly advised.
AppleTV can only mirror items that iTunes has in it's library or are stored elsewhere but referenced by the library.
The biggest issue is that items cannot be retrieved from AppleTV once transferred to it, and if you deleted things from iTunes they then get deleted from AppleTv the next time you or iTunes sync.
Probably your best option would be to buy a cheap USB hard drive big enough for storing things you want on AppleTV but not actually copied in iTunes on the main computer. Put all the stuff you only want on AppleTV on that drive, then change iTunes Preferences so that files are not copied to the library but only references to their location are stored, then import the files to iTunes so they appear in the library listings and sync with AppleTV. You can then disconnect the drive until you want to add new things to AppleTv and iTunes shouldn't delete the AppleTV content as it thinks you want to sync it but just can't find it.
If you want stuff in iTunes not AppleTV change the Preference back - you can mix and match things stored in teh iTunes library folder or just stored as links/references.
This is a complete fudge, and you could achieve the same by right clicking on an entry in iTunes and selecting show in Finder or the Windows equivalent to display the actual file in a file system window. If you then physically delete that file it has freed up space from the iTunes library but stays on AppleTv as there's still an entry for it in iTunes itself, just that the actual file no longer exists.
    Sorry if that's confusing.
Drag and drop to AppleTV with an option to stream other stuff would be the ideal, I've no idea why they haven't implememnted it.

  • I need OS  Lion to make my computer run, but I dont have it in my apple acount, and the computer just ask me for that, how can I install hte software if the only way is using apple id?

I need OS lion, to run my the computer, I made a restore trying to install mountain lion, but the computer doesnt allow me, it ask me for the OS LION, and I dont have it in my apple account, how to I install it? Help!!!!

So it sounds as though you wiped your drive and it can't find the system (OS startup) folder because there is none (folder with ?).
One more question: did your machine come with Lion?? Or did you purchase it at the app store? If it came with the machine, then it would not show in the app store.
You tried recovery and said it "made an internet recovery" - when you booted up with Command + R, did you at first see a spinning globe? If not, there was no internet recovery. Try restarting with Command + Option + R - on older machines, that is internet recovery (if your machine supports it). You should wind up with a screen like this:
Is this what you saw before? You can erase your drive in Disk Utility. When done, you need to click on Reinstall OS X - it will then go to Apple's servers and download the entire OS. Once downloaded (may take a while unless you have a blazing connection), it will install. It should also recreate a new recovery partition.

  • Apple TV and My Computer

When is Apple going to create an App to allow streaming of my MacBook over the TV? I want to be able to use my TV as the computer screen without having to run cables etc.

That is not what the device is meant for so I would say unlikely. Furthermore no one here will know as we're just users. If you want that fenctionality a Mac Mini is a viable option.

to know your version of OS, click on the apple, then  " About This Mac".
Same thing for your version of iPhoto: in iPhoto, click on "iPhoto" then "About iPhoto".

  • 2 I Phones and one computer

I have had an iphone since July and my husband just bought one in November.
Right now we are sharing the same itunes account so we can share music. What is the best way to keep our contacts separate? All of my contacts and calendar went on his iphone after one sync.
Is there a way to do this while we share the same account or do we need separate itunes accounts?

Obviously it's not something that Apple would suggest doing, but if you want to share 1 iTunes account, I would suggest creating a new admin account on your system, or using another computer. You can authorize an Apple ID on up to 5 computers. To do this open iTunes select Store (from the top menu) and Authorize computer.
    If you are worried about getting all the content into another user. There are 2 ways;
    1. If all of the content is purchased from the iTunes store, you would want to connect up the iPhone to iTunes (in another user) cancel the sync if it starts automatically, or before connecting up the iPhone launch iTunes and go to (Windows Edit/Preferences .. Mac iTunes/Preferences) go to the Device tab and select 'Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods' .. however this does not always work. Authorize computer in the new user. Once the iPhone is connected and this user account is authorized with your shared Apple ID, go to File/Transfer purchases from iPhone. This will bring over any purchased content.
    2. If not all the content is purchased, put all the content onto a flash drive, log into the test user, open iTunes, authorize the computer in this new user account and then bring over all the content. Once this is done, make sure that you can play the purchased content in the new user.
Or you can put only the non-purchased content onto the flash drive, and then do step 1 and 2 to get all your data over.
Hope this is helpful, enjoy! ✰

  • Authorize Computer - Repeatedly Pops Up

Everytime I try to synch my iPod with iTunes I have problems and it takes more than 2-3 hours to figure it out between it freezing or needing to download update after update. My latest issue is that iTunes keeps telling me that my purchased music will not synch because my computer is not authorized. When I go to authorize my computer it tells me that it is already. I have tried rebooting, de-authorizing and re-authorizing, even follwing the instructions to delete the SC Info folder. Nothing is working and I am beyond frustrated. I am about ready to trash my iPod and never buy an Apple product ever again. Please please help!
FYI - I just spent an hour downloading the latest iPod software for my 8GB nano before encountering this error. I am running iTunes 8.2

I have the same issue. I updated to Windows 7 and updated my iTunes. I am repeatedly prompted to authorize my computer. I log in with my Apple ID and authorize. I get a message saying I have already authorized my computer. However, the songs will still not play and show as not authorized.
All of those songs were purchased under my old account name. Over a year ago, I updated my Apple ID and my current Apple ID is now under my new e-mail address. When I try to authorize using the old Apple ID, I get a message saying that Apple ID does not exist.
    Troubleshooting tried:
    * Attempted to re-set password using old e-mail/Apple ID - Apple ID does not exist
    * Attempted to re-set password and update information on my account - No resolution
    * Removed SC Info folder and re-started computer - No resolution
    * Followed all possible solutions in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389 - No resolution
    * Checked to see if iTunes needed any updates. Downloaded updates - No resolution

  • ICloud, Apple ID and devices and content etc

This question covers a few domains but this forum seemed the most applicable to post it.
I have an AppleTV2, iPhone 4 on iOS 5 and a 64 bit Windows 7 PC Running Outlook 2007, and the most recent version of iTunes.
This question is mainly concerned with the finer points of the Apple ID
When I first set up my phone just over a year ago I made an Apple ID [email protected]. This is the one I have used for all my Apple stuff (iTunes purchases, Games Centre on phone etc). It is the one I used when setting iOS 5 on my phone.
When I finally got into my phone I went to the iClound settings and switched the mail function to on. This then let me create my firs, and only, Apple email address to go with my account. So I now have [email protected]
I was puzzled that it didn't ask me for a password. So when I went to icloud.com I found that the same password gets me in with either [email protected] or I can use the new [email protected] and get into my account and all the contacts are there etc.
Now from what I have read as my first username1 is not an apple address I can change it to the [email protected] as described here:http://support.apple.com/kb/HE40
So here is the question in light of the above information.
As I want to change my Apple ID to my new me.com email address will everything change on my iPhone once I have done this? My concern is If  on the iPhone 4 you go into Setting>iCloud and then press the Accout at the top of the screen (which is currently [email protected]) It takes you to an account screen and then on that the Apple ID is [email protected] but it is greyed out and can't be edited. Will this change automatically when I change my Apple ID details online? I know that with functions within the phone like GamesCentre of if I make a purchase the blue box comes up but with that you can alter the Apple ID.
I just don't want to mess anything up or get "Locked out" of my phone (or even just looked out of certian functions) as I am not very well and too unwell really to go to an apple store to sort any mess out!
As a secondary question to all this, when I set up iCloud on the PC I am guessing I can used the [email protected] name as the web interface recognises it?
Many thanks for help on this, greatly appreciated
    Andrew

    hmm, yes and no.
Yes you will be able to authorize other devices to use your purchases from the itunes/app store.
Yes you can setup all your devices with the same apple id.
If you do setup all of the items with your apple id, it will treat each device as if one person is using it.
so say Jane wanted to use Messages on her iPad, but use it with her personal contacts. if she messages someone on the ipad, you and the third person will also get the message, because, the devices think they are all one user (since there is only one apple id).
the best thing to do is setup multiple apple ids, and authorize those devices to use the App store or iTunes media.
For find my phone they can sign in to their personal apple id to find their phone on anyone's device.
for back up content, if you have one apple id you get 5gb free. if you have three apple id's they can have 5gb of storage each which allows for small backups of your devices. with more storage in the cloud (collectively).
So yes, you could theoretically do this, but no I would not recommend it.
