Apple TV + facetime + video projector?

Hye,
there's a few posts out there concerning apple tv and facetime, but this one is different.
I would like to know whether it's possible to initiate a facetime call from an ipod touch 5G to an apple tv, which is hooked up to a video projector. If I'm not mistaking, apple TV has VGA output, so I shouldn't need any adapter for the projector.
Is this possible?
Thanks.

AppleTV has HDMI video out only on current models.
I'm tempted to get one of these for work to do presentations from iPad.

  • Apple TV on Video Projector?

I have a video projector in my classroom and want to get an Apple TV to keep all of the videos I show on it. Will the Apple TV work on a video projector?

I don't have the Red-Green-Blue component plugs in my projector - but I do have a monitor in - would it still work if I used a component to VGA cable converter?
    Thanks!

  • Apple TV to VGA input video projector-what do I need

    Please help.
My understanding is that the Apple TV has HDMI output.  I want to hook it up to a video projector that only has VGA in.  Someone told me that all I need is a simple inexpensive HDMI to VGA cable.  Then I read something that seems to comflict with this.
Please clarify.  Is the simple inexpensive cable all I need, or is there something else I need?
Thank you very much for your help.

There are hardware converters that will convert HDMI to various other types of output, however there are some issues with doing so that you should be aware of.
    HDCP
HDCP compliant converters will not allow you to watch HDCP protected content such as that from the iTunes Store. Non compliant converters exist but we cannot discuss them under the Terms of Use for these communities.
    Resolution and aspect ratio
I'm not aware of any converters that will scale the output from the Apple TV, any TV or projector which is used will need to be widescreen and support resolutions of 720p.

  • Is there a way to predict which video projectors will not work with the 2012 MacBook Air using the Mini-display to VGA adapter?

I recently upgraded from a 2011 MBA to a 2012 MBA due to the larger capacity SSD.  The 2011 MBA running Lion and Mountain Lion worked with every video projector for lectures.  The new 2012 MBA is hit or miss with video projectors.  It is not an adapter problem.  I have multiple Apple mini-display to VGA adapters with the latest firmware.  They all work just fine with the 2011 MBA. Re-starting the 2012 MBA with the adapter and projector connected has not helped.
It it not acceptable to have a laptop that works with projectors some of the time.  Apple is aware of the problem.  Is the only choice to go back to the 2011 MBA?
    RC

I installed 10.8.2 update today with my 2012 MBA.  The details of the update include:  Resolves a video issue with some VGA projectors when connected to certain Mac notebooks.
I tried using the MBA with a video projector and it found the correct resolution and connected with the projector automatically.  Using detect displays in the disoplay preference pane wasn't even necessary.
I hope this is the fix I have been waiting for with the 2012 MBA.
    Thank you Apple.

  • Problem connecting MacBook to a Sharp video projector

One of the great things I like about Macs is the easy way they (usually) connect to a video projector. Unlike a lot of my friends who run PCs with Windows I never had any problems whatsoever connecting my MacBook to a projector at the university and start my presentations.
    Until today that is.
I tried to connect my MacBook with Apple's mini-DVI to VGA adapter to a Sharp ("Notevision") video projector and although the MacBook had the projector (even with its correct name "PG-M20X" and available resolution settings) listed under "Displays" immediately, I couldn't get the projector to show any more than "no signal" whatever input source I chose...
What did I do wrong? Or is it the projector that is somehow "incompatible"?! Please help!

Maybe this could help as well:
After we tried several things with the MacBook (reboot, "detect displays" etc.), we successfully connected a Powerbook (15", FireWire 800, late 2003) to the projector, using Apple's DVI-VGA Adapter.
So that did work out fine, but the MacBook didn't work on the projector. The cable that came with the projector was a VGA--DVI-A cable: there were only a few pins on the DVI-end of it going into the DVI-Connector on the projector. Could it have something to do with that? But why didn't the Powerbook have any problems connecting to the projector then?

  • 2 monitors+1 video projector: do i need 2 graphic cards?

I m about to buy a new graphic card for my G5: i d like to use 2 monitors (extended desk) + 1 video projector:
    - has anybody successfully done that with their PowerPC G5 and did it actually work?
    - do i really need 2 graphic cards?
Which card(s) should i get for ultimate result?
(AquaDB kindly sent me this list but i m clueless http://www.jcsenterprises.com/Japamacs_Page/Blog/4B4B7BA2-7ABB-47F1-87AC-B03D379 42BEE.html)
    Thank you for your experiences.

Most G5 cards will support 2 monitors on one card, depending on resolution of th Monitors, but it depends what connections the Monitors/Projectors have... running 2 Monitors plus a projector would require 2 Graphic cards.

  • Connecting an epson video projector via usb

I did this once before I had to get technical support when I did it that time as well, but now I have updated, re-formated and re-updated my system and do not remember the steps in order to be able to use an epson video projector to my MacBook Pro via an usb connection.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions, Kgtalbott
If you can import DV from your Sony camcorder via Firewire, you Mac is recognizing your "camera/Firewire connection".
When the Sony is connected and turned on, if your Mac's Finder > Go > Utilities> System Profiler app will not show your Sony camera as a connected Firewire device, try the suggestions in What to do if your computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device.
If you are having difficulty only with one particular application, let us know which app has the problem and whether that app works correctly with your MacBook Pro's built-in iSight.

  • Mac Book Pro to video projector

How can I connect my mac book pro to a video projector?

Without knowing what kind of video projector or which MacBook Pro, it's difficult to answer.  But, if you have a recent MBP, you need a MiniDisplayPort to DVI or VGA adapter, depending on what your video projector accepts.  You can pick them up from the Apple Store either online or in person.

  • Fuzzy Video Projector

Hey ya'll, On occasion I have the opportunity to visit a library to offer a presentation and use the library's video projector. Some times we use my iBook G3 and some times my wife's iBook G4. Each time the brand of projector has been different. At least twice I have not been able to focus the projector. Distance from the projector to the screen does not seem to be a factor. I use the video adaptor (provided with the computer) and an s-video cable to connect the iBook and projector. Is there a setting or option I need to select to enable the projector to accurately reproduce the clear sharp image from the iBook screen? thank you, Wayne
    iBook G3 900 MHz   Mac OS X (10.3.8)   640 MB SDRAM

    Hi Wayne,
If you use the SVideo adaptor to connect to the projector, the resolution will be no more than 640x480 pixels, while the internal screen of the iBook is 1024x768 pixels. The 1024x768 pixels are scaled down to fit in the 640x480 pixels, and thus become blurry.
Most projectors have VGA input. If so, you can use the supplied dongle ( shown here : http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?productLearnMore=M86 39G/A ) to plug in. You may need a VGA to VGA cable to do this. The projectors should have come with one, but if no-one can find them, they're reasonably inexpensive.
You might run into trouble if the projectors are mounted on ceilings, and the VGA cable hasn't been run, in which case there's not much you can do. But if the projectors are portable, a VGA to VGA cable will usually do the trick. There may be some projectors around which only have a DVI-I port on them, but you can also get VGA to DVI-I cables. If you are having trouble working out what sort of port is on the projector, this document from Apple may help - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58692
    Best of luck.

  • Is there an iPod touch model which will work with a video projector via an HDMI cable?

I want to use an iPod touch to use an app called iSing Worship in our church. This app plays worship songs and enables the lyrics to be projected on a screen using a video projector. Is this possible and if so, which model iPod touch will I need to purchase?

    - If that app supports TV out,the app description will say, then you need a 4G or later iPod and the HDMI/Digital adopter cable. You can also use and Apple TV abd Airplay to the Apple TV
    - If the app does not suport TV out then you need a 5G iPod since the 5G will mirror the iPpd's screen, Yu then need
    - Via Airplay to an Apple TV.
    or this cable.

  • TS3367 audio breaks while using FaceTime video

Since installing IOS7, the audio breaks up on my FaceTime video calls to my grandchildren. They have no trouble hearing me but have not 'upgraded' to IOS 7.
The problem is not my wifi—coincidentally I had FaceTimed in the am, updated to IOS 7, and then FaceTimed almost immediately with my other grandchild and discovered the problem. Does anyone know how to remedy this?

Just found several other forum strings dedicated to the facetime issue.

So you would think Apple is aware and working on the issue and it will be fixed soon.

  • I am trying to project a slide show from a video projector.  The music is working but I can't figure out how to get the slide-show picture to project on the screen.  Help!

I am trying to project a slideshow onto a large screen from a video projector at school.  I get the music, but no picture is projected.   I can see the slideshow from the computer screen. Can someone help, please.

    Hello,
Although not as simple as it should be you can use a program like "Grab" to take a screenshot of the frame in the preview window in iMovie.

I'm afraid this is by design.
You cannot Airplay Mirror a DVD using DVD Player - Apple block  screen mirroring of certain image data which might be protected.
I've a funny feeling Airplay mirroring can potentially be interecpted and decoded so someone could potentially copy the video stream (which would be poorer than DVD anyway).
