Apple TV Picture

After I hooked up my apple TV the picture on the TV came in large and now it looks like the zoom is on

What is your setup? Have you checked your TV settings?

    Oh!
First thing I think would be to do a search for the folder in case it's somehow got moved.
Failing that, you can retrieve the folder from your original installer disc using Pacifist.
Insert the disc (don't boot from it) and open the installer package with Pacifist. Navigate to the Desktop Pictures folder (might be a bit more fiddly to find in the package structure). When you find it, select the folder, right-click (or ctrl-click) and select 'install in default location' from the context menu.
Exit Pacifist and eject the disc.
    Best of luck!

  • HELP! 20" Cinema orig. Apple product pictures needed

Unfortunately this is not a joke. I have sold my former 20" Cinema Display on Ebay. I used what i believed to be original Apple product pictures of the Cinema Display in my Ebay auction. 2 months later - a few days ago - i received a registered mail from a law firm. They are preparing a lawsuit against me. Claiming i had used copy-right protected images. The guy who claims to have the copyright is an Ebay-Shop owner.
Thus i hope anyone can identify the pictures here as clearly the property of Apple. I would be infinitely grateful if anyone came up with a screenshot or a pdf of an archived / older version of the Apple homepage showing exactly those images of the back than new Apple Cinema Aluminum enclosure Display line.
Here are the pictures in question:

  • Apple TV Picture now too big for the 16/9 screen, wrong resolution ?

Now that I've added a new Samsung Home Theatre system to my new Samsung 46" HDTV, the Apple
TV picture is displaying way too big, cutting off about 1/2 the picture!?! The resolution seems to be set wrong ( 720 ?). The other inputs DVD and DirectTV display OK. I have the TV set for 16x9. It was working fine before I plugged the AppleTV into the new Home Theatre System. I then tried replugging the AppleTV directly into the TV's other HDMI port but the problem still remains.I can't find any way of readjusting the resolution. Any suggestions ?

Problem solved. It's a faulty HDMI port on my TV.
I have been plagued by intermittent random problems with my old Apple TV, especially where there was a blank screen but audio could be heard - solved by a restart. Then today I got the new Apple TV and it displayed as though there was overscan (actually - way more than overscan should cause now that I can see what it SHOULD look like). The final piece of the puzzle was trying to play content purchased previously on iTunes - no HDCP. Finally something pointing to the HDMI connection. I did a bit of troubleshooting - swapping cables, swapping HDMI ports and problem solved. Of the 3 HDMI ports on my TV - when the Apple TV is plugged into port 2 I get this massive overscan and HDCP doesn't work. In ports 1 and 3 it works perfectly. Thankfully the problem with the new Apple TV was consistent enough for me to easily diagnose the problem - unlikely the random nature of the issues I was having with the old Apple TV. Time for a new TV - hurrah! (it's under warranty...)

  • I've seen on apple's pictures of the ipod 5th generation that it has a battery percentage. Yet i can't find out how to turn it on? does anyone know how to?

When looking on the apple website and iTunes you can see that the picture of the ipod touch 5th gen has a battery percentage indicator but i can't seem to fing the option to turn it on?! Is there actually an option or has apple just added a feature in the photo in which the ipod dosen't contain?

The 5G does not come with a % battery in upper right. The phtos were incorrect. You may be able to add it by:
[How To] Enable the Battery Percentage with iBackupBot | iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch forums | iFans
However, % battery is not accurate on an iPod

  • Apple TV Picture pixulated or freezes since update...

    Hello
I have 2 Apple TVs and BOTH are doing the same thing.  I have BOTH connected with an Ethernet cable through a (Gigabit) switch.  I have a superfast network and can stream anything from the Internet in lightening speed.  When I play videos on my Apple TV the picture is either frozen for a few seconds while the sound continues or it gets really pixulated (from green squares to out of oder large squares) and then catches up.  Sometimes it even looses the sych between the voice and picture.  It is a continuous problem that happened since the new Apple TV update.  I have Apple TV version 5.2.1 amd the latest iTunes.  This happens to ALL my video content.
    Thanks

Not sure why you are saying it's not the upgrade.  Nothing is changed in my set up and its been working great for a year.  There seems to be a different way iTunes streams to Apple TV and that is the issue.  I no longer see my library when my apple TV  is on Wifi and I did before.

  • Apple TV Picture pixulated or goes blank since iTunes update...

I have an AppleTV and my iTunes on the SAME router, GIG Ethernet connection, since the update the picture on ALL my movies is pixulated or goes blank.  I see the progress bar on the AppleTV turn white as it loads the stream well ahead of the place where the movie plays.  How can I get the older version of iTunes?
    ANy Ideas what is wrong?

  • Apple TV Picture displays very small on Sony LCD TV.

When I first installed my Apple TV everything was fine. It filled the entire TV screen. The update installed and all seemed fine. The second time I turned on Apple TV the picture is very small on the screen. It appears to be some kind of under scan issue.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

There is a "wide" button on the TV remote that allows the zoom range to be set. After selecting another zoom level everything seemed fine again.

  • Apple TV picture is cropped on sides

Have just moved Apple TV into a new location and the picture is cropped on both sides, have tried all the available settings within the Apple TV menu, and the tv'is menu

AppleTV shows widescreen by default.  If the source material is 4:3 however you will get black bars to show it properly without stretching horizontally.  Is tghis all content/menus or just some things.
Assuming widescreenrdinarily I would expect this issue to be due to you having selected a 4:3 aspect ratio on the TV itself though sounds as though you have checked for that - if not do that first.
I would look at the Settings for audio and video and see what resolution is listed - on a TV it should be 720p or 1080p, but other devices may have different options I've found.
AppleTV has no 4:3 output selection option itself.

  • Apple Desktop pictures do not appear in System Prefs

I tried to change my desktop picture and discovered that there are none of the apple images showing in the system prefs for Desktop & Screen Saver. The folders are there (Apple images, nature, plants, etc) but the folders are empty.
Digging via the finder I found in Library/Desktop Pictures all of the missing files but Prefs does not apparently see them.
The default Aurora was there after 10.5.5 upgrade, then I replaced it with one of my own from the user/Pictures folder which shows in the prefs window. All of those pictures still show in prefs.
    What is wrong?

Conclusion, there is now something about my account that no longer can see the contents of the Desktop Pictures folder. Why is unknown still.
Usually, a bad preference file or incompatible login item is the culprit, although it could also be corrupted data in a user cache.
For the first, you can try moving likely suspects from ~/Library/Preferences to a desktop temp folder, then logging out & back in or restarting to see if the problem is gone. If not replace the old preference from the temp folder to its original location to restore the old preferences. One general way that may help locate suspect pref files is to change the preference in the normal way while ~/Library/Preferences is sorted by date changed -- the file storing the preferences should be very near the top of the list.
You can also run a terminal command that checks the syntax of most preference files. It won't indicate all problems but it is worth a shot. In Terminal type:
    sudo plutil -s ~/Library/preferences/*.plist
followed by pressing the return key. At the password prompt, enter you admin account password & press return again. It won't be echoed to the screen. If you get nothing besides the prompt for the next command, those prefs are syntactically correct. Otherwise, remove the indicated pref file as above & test.
If desired, repeat this for the main system-wide preference folder with this command:
    sudo plutil -s /Library/preferences/*.plist
Note: since your new account has no problems, it is highly unlikely a system preference is the problem.
For login items, check the list in the accounts system preference. Suspect anything that isn't from Apple. You can list them here in a new post if you have any questions about them.
If the problem is a bad user cache, a third party utility like Onyx or Leopard Cache Cleaner will allow you to "clean" (delete) them. Try this as a last resort, since caches speed up the operation of your Mac & will need to be rebuild by the system, causing one-time delays until this is done.

  • Apple iphoto pictures

i noticed in a lot of apple stores in iphoto, they have these amazing pictures and i want them! i was wondering if you can go to an apple store and email yourself a picture of it to your own account. is there a policy on this or what?

Don't ask at the 'Genius' counter or whatever they are calling it now. Just ask one of the salespeople...as if you were interested in the hardware, and then once you have someone with you, ask about how to download the photos!

  • Apple TV picture out after EyeTV installation

I've had an Apple TV nearly a year. This past week, I set up an EyeTV system on my iMac (running OS 10.5.2) to record TV to send to the Apple TV (running the Take 2 software update). I got an EyeTV 250 Plus with EyeTV 3.0.1 software and a Turbo.264 stick running version 1.2. Things ran OK for a day or so. I did have to reset the Apple TV twice, which was unusual, but after this, things worked fine. Today, however, the Apple TV is displaying no picture. My TV says it has an "invalid format." I am able to hear the start-up music and am actually able to stream iTunes to the Apple TV via AirTunes. But there is no picture.
I've tried forcing the Apple TV into selecting a video mode (menu-plus button on Apple remote). It briefly shows the video mode 480p, but I'm not able to maintain the picture though I've tried hitting the play button, the menu button and doing nothing. It flashes green, then goes to black and the TV indicates I'm in "invalid format" again. I've reset and restarted and plugged and unplugged HDMI cables several times to no avail. I'd run diagnostics or do a factory restore, but I'm not sure how to do that without being able to see the screen.
    I'm looking for ideas.

Though I didn't have any spare HDMI or component cables (and didn't want to invest just for troubleshooting), I found old composite cables and hooked the Apple TV to my TV using the component jacks. And it worked. I was able to switch Apple TV to 1080i again.
And in fact, these cheap composite cables I had lying around work better with my Apple TV than the HDMI cable I had to buy special. With HDMI, there was always a delay each time I switched to Apple TV—the TV displayed a "connecting" message for several seconds. Then, once it connected, several seconds later, the TV threw up a screen-obstructing warning that the audio was not compatible—even though it worked. Now, with composite cables in component cable jacks, there is no delay when switching to Apple TV and no warning message from the TV about audio. (The picture quality may even be better, but that may be because I've been looking at 480p plus I'm bleary-eyed for lack of sleep troubleshooting this.)
Those I've discussed this with say that EyeTV had nothing to do with my problems. I don't understand why they say that, but because they sound truly sincere, I will continue to test EyeTV exports to the Apple TV to see if the problems crop up again.

  • Email from Apple with pictures

When I get Apple mail with pictures (i.e. "New Mac") it displays question marks instead of pictures. Why? Since it is from Apple to an iPhone..it should just display correctly...right?
    I can't think of a setting that I may have wrong...but thought I'd check.
    Thanks all,

Those pictures show up when the Mail client has not finished downloading all the information on the message. Generally, it skips automatically downloading pictures for the sake of speed.
There should be a button at the very bottom of the email to prompt it to finish downloading the message. Hit that and the photos will download and be visable.

  • Apple TV2 picture keeps dieing

I have had my apple tv 2 for two weeks. To start it worked fine and the content look amazing.
About a week ago it has started to drop it's video output via HDMI.
It does it on all content videos from Mac, Podcasts and Netflix. It also drops in the menu screens too. It does recover and displays the picture again
At the sime time when it drops the led flashes once. The TV displays that it has lost signal and then when it comes back it the tv shows that a signal is back.
After about 4/5 times of it cutting out. It then crashed, drops pictures and the led flashes 6 times.
Is there anything I can do to stop this?

    Take it to Apple
