Apple tv3 airplay problem

I have an iphone 4, macbook air, time capsule 500gb apple tv 3. When I try to play a video airplay with iphone, video is loaded very slowly, and goes excerpts. When I try to play the video on Apple TV 3 with my homework COLLECTIONS which is located on MacBook AIR, the same situation as with the iPhone. From the Apple Store video is loaded fine. What's the problem?

I finally found the like-symptom causing the issue of missing airplay services on ATV box.
Well, I have one airport express installed in my study room, which connects to the same LAN as ATV3 in living room. Today, I reset airport express to factory setting and reconfigured everything on AirportExpress, including its SSiD, wifi network key and device password. All of a sudden, my iPad, iPhone, iMac lost their airplay connection to ATV3. Port scanning found no airplay services on ATV3 box. It needed box restart to bring up airplay as my earlier walk around solution. I still performed reset -> restore for a "permanent fix".
That said we might have airplay icon disappeared again if there were more than one airplay device on the same LAN that would interfere to each other. Working on one airplay device from ground start would cause airplay service of another box malfunction.
My experience showed this twice. The first was happened when I put an airport express on the same LAN and I posted a thread here for help. The second was in this morning when i reset airport express to factory setting

Apple TV3 Wifi problems

Hey. Can anyone help me? I apologize if anyone thinks that this has been discussed several times before on this forum. But I can unfortunately not find answers to my questions.
Have from July 1 tested Netflix on my Apple TV 3 with some problems. The stream runs perfectly until I suddenly get the error message "A problem occurred while playing this item. Try again later". I have to press the menu button and load the content again.
I have tried the following to correct this error. Cut the power to the modem and my Apple Timecapsule which I use as my wifi network, and then power cycle again. This has been without success. Have obviously the last update and have double checked several times to see that I have the latest version of Apple TV3.
I've tried to go into the "iTunes Store" and then change from 1080i to 720p and then to standard definition without success. Something that really should not be necessary since I have both a modem and timecapsule that is not older than 1 year old and bought new. And the internet speed should be more than enough. Speed of my internet line is 30mb./15mb. My 8 month old Apple Timcaspule the Internet signals coming from standing 3-4 feet in a straight line towards my Apple TV 3.
I also tried to disable the power cord to my Apple TV3 wall and then wait 60 seconds and start up again without success. Worth noting is that I can not remember that this error has occurred on my Apple TV3 other program selection / apps than netflix.
When I see content on Netflix the media is not loaded in advance to the timeline as it always gets done on youtube. But that's only because the media content is much larger than any of the youtube media, or what? There were no changes on this when I change from 1080i to 720p or standard definition.

If the third and fourth position are right, I have not this error. But if the fourth and fifth position, I have this error. Can anyone confirm with 100% certainty what is right? Has anyone here on the forum contacted Apple to investigate this?
How can I find out if my problems caused by this bug? I can of course be wired between my Apple and Apple TV3 Timcapsule to see what happens. What about pressing reset to factory settings? Have any other suggestions? Is there software to determine where the fault lies?

My Apple TV3 used to sync youtube videos played on my Iphone 5s via airplay mode. But, it suddenly doesn't work out anymore. Can someone solve my problems. thanks!

Nope, never happened. Nothing is synced to an ATV.
Content can be sent to the ATV via AirPlay.
The vast majority of AirPlay issues are network related. Power cycle the ATV and router.

I found out that my current network situation is ATV3 connected to LAN with Powerline devices gives the problem described above. Changing to WiFi connection to the Router, solves the problem even with a lower speed.

Apple TV3 AirPlay Issue

Hello everyone.
Just purchased an ATV3 about a month ago and have been mostly enjoying AirPlay mirroring.... but I have a problem.
Firstly, these are the Apple products in my home: ATV3, MBP 2012, MBA 2012, MacMini 2012, and an iPhone 6.
The 2 MacBooks and the iPhone are in the same area as the ATV3 and the ATV/MBA are on 2.4GHz while the MBP/iP6 is on 5GHz wifi. The Mini is in another part of the house with IR receiver and wifi turned OFF and is connected via ethernet. I have done all updates on all Apple products and the ATV3 has also been restored (after updates) in an attempt to figure this out. I have also made sure that all Home Sharing options have been shut off on ALL Apple items. I have verified the local wifi activity on both 2.4 and 5GHz to make sure I am on channels not being used by others in the area. The MBA/ATV3 are showing max signal in my router (5 bars).
Here is what is happening and it is 100% consistent.
My wife will be using AirPlay mirroring on her MBA in the bedroom. I will be in another part of the house on the hardwired Mini. If I pull up Youtube on any computer in the house, including the ethernet connected Mini, she immediately loses mirroring to the ATV causing the ATV menu to be shown on the TV. On her MBA, the stream continues but the only way she can reconnect to the ATV is to completely reboot her MBA. She cannot simply press the AirPlay icon and reconnect- she MUST reboot since the AirPlay icon still shows her to be mirroring to the ATV. There may or may not be other sites that cause this loss of communication but YouTube creates this problem 100% of the time. Oh, and when this happens, I can hear the Youtube sound from the TV even though I am seeing the Apple menu and NOT connected with AirPlay in any way.
I am a fan of Apple products. I went with the ATV3 thinking it would make things easier since I live in a Mac environment- I am now starting to seriously question this move. This product is useless to me if I cannot use another Mac while the wife is using AirPlay mirroring to the ATV3. Yes, I know I can stay off YouTube during mirroring but I expect to be able to use another computer in any way I wish while the ATV is being used, especially one that isn't on wifi.
Anybody have any suggestions on what is going on and how to resolve it?

I have never regretted an Apple purchase, until now.
The previously found problem pales in comparison to the most recent issue. I had decided to avoid YouTube while the wife is mirroring to the ATV3 and all would be well. WRONG! Apparently, I can't watch or listen to iTunes any time she is streaming to the ATV3 either. This is unacceptable.
I am very happy with all of my other Apple products but I feel that I was duped on this purchase. I figured it would just work, and it does, as long as I don't touch any other Apple product I own while this thing is mirroring.
Time to sell it at a loss and find a cheap mini pc to handle my streaming needs. Color me disappointed.

Apple tv - airplay problems

Hi, I have a Mac from mid 2011 and have now bought Apple TV. I have it all connected but cannot play on my tv the same screen as my Mac. The photos and music files are shared but not the screen. I read that you need to have airplay but I can' t find that. Some say that is because you need a recent system but I have read that mid 2011 macs are capable.
Can someone guide me to either where I can find the switch so that I can watch the same screen on my tv as my computer or tell me how I can download the required feature? Many Thanks for any help

Your iMac should be ok.

iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)
Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)
Your issue is that you have OS X Lion not Mountain Lion (10.8). 10.8+ is needed for Airplay mirroring.
You can upgrade via the Mac AppStore for a reasonable fee - however the latest version of OS X called Mavericks is not that far away so you might want to hang on for that:

Alternatively look at something like Airparrot though the OS upgrade shouldn;t be much more and mirroring performance shoudl be better from OS X than Airparrot which does not use the hardware features 10.8 and 10.9 do.

HI All,
I've recently bought an Apple TV, however I'm unable to get AirPlay to work, I checked that both my AppleTV and Ipad are on the same network - they are.
I've upgraded my IPAD ios to 6.1.3, and I stilll don't get the Airplay Icon on any application, and when I double press the front button and scroll across,
again there no AirPlay Icon.
I've looked on forums and found nothing useful so far.

After updating my iPhone 4S to iOS 6.1.3 my dedicated AirPlay button is no longer there (two swipes to the left in the multitask dock). Meaning, I can still AirPlay videos when they're playing, but am not able use AirPlay Mirroring.
I can confirm a close friend of mine just bought a brand new Apple TV, has an iPhone 5 and his dedicated AirPlay button is also missing. He said he has also just updated to iOS 6.1.3, which I have a feeling is the culprit.

my friend just give me an apple TV3 as a birthday gift. but when i try to use airplay via my macbookair play the mp4 in my itunes

You need to re install OSX. If you have the dmg file downloaded via torrentz this is how you can create a bootable external HD or Flash drive (8 GB+)

Are you using a home network?
Try the following :
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

Problems mirroring mac pro on TV with apple TV3

I just got an Apple TV3. It works with the typical Apple TV stuff, except Mirroring. I'm running Mavericks on a Mac Pro (2012) and there is 1 minute or so delay between what I seen on my Mac on what the TV displays. I follow the exact steps people show on Youtube with the same bad results. Any suggestions before I exchange this unit? Thanks

I just solved the problem! There were two issues: (1) The power cord to the DSL modem was broken ... it was turning the modem ON/OFF randomly-- I replaced it, but the Apple TV still didn't work well. (2) The router (Linksys E2500) I replaced the OEM firmware for the appropriate Tomato firmware version, and after completing its setup ... Voila! the Apple TV worked as expected ... it's a beauty!

Home sharing problem with Apple TV3

I have an Apple TV3 in my bedroom and an Apple TV2 in my living room. Both are presently connected to my wireless network. I cannot get home sharing to work with the Apple TV2, but it works fine with the Apple TV2.
I have tried everything I could think of. I exchanged the location of the 2 with the 3. Home sharing still works with the 2 but not with the 3. I have restarted many times and reset the 3. I have turned off and on home sharing both on my IMac and on the 3 and rebooted both several times. Nothing seems to work. Does anybody have suggestions?

Sorry there was a typo in the last sentence of my first paragraph. It sould have read " I cannot get home sharing to work with the Apple TV3, but it works fine with the Apple TV2."
They are both using the same Apple ID for homesharing.
The TV2 has the name "Apple TV2" The TV3 has the name "Apple TV3".
I have tried restarting the router. I have just done this again and restarted the TV3, but I'm afraid it doesn't work.
