Apple Watch in South Africa

Hi all. This is completely of topic.
I would like to know if ANYONE can assist me by giving me a date on which the Apple Watch will be launched in South Africa.
I tried to look for a South African forum, but it seems like there is none, and so they redirected me to the British community forum. So I'm not sure if the dates are the same, but if anyone can please assist me with some information about the date it would be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

This is a user-to-user technical support forum and there are not Apple executives here. No one will be able to answer your question here.

  • Apple turn by turn navigation for iphone4s don't work in south africa

Hi i like to know if i can fix this problem Apple map in south Africa dont work

There is no pre-installed "turn by turn" navigation app for the iPhone, at the present. If you're looking for such in the stock Maps app, that's why it doesn't work.

  • Does anyone know when the "new" iPad will be available in South Africa?

    Hi
I'm not really sure where this should be posted. I know that there are two releases of the new iPad scheduled, one on the 16th of March, and one at the end of the month. But SA isn't on either of those lists. There is a huge demand for and support of Apple products in South Africa. I own the iPad 2, but now that I've seen what the new pad is capable of, I can't wait to upgrade!

All anyone on here knows is what Apple has published...only thing to do is wait for a release announcement.

  • I lived in the US for a few years, spent a fortune on iTunes [my then local Apple ID account].  Now I live in South Africa and want to use Match.  I have a local credit card but how do I use my new / 2nd Apple ID and gain access to all my US music??

You have to be in a country to use its store - you will need to be in the US and have a US billing address on your account to be able to use the US store (that applies to buying and redownloading).
You can use iTunes Match in South Africa, do you not have a backup copy of all of your US iTunes purchases so that you can subscribe to it and upload those that aren't in the South African store to it ?

  • HT4381 Can Apple TV be used in South Africa?

Can Apple TV be used in South Africa?
I want to give Apple TV as a gift to someone who will soon move there.  Thanks.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Yes, it will work anywhere. You may however not have all the features that are elsewhere, depending on what is available in SA.

  • Does anyone have any idea when Apple will have one Global App store. In South Africa the apps available on the App Store are pathetic, eg. Angry Birds is not available to Iphone/ipad users here, however android users can purchase this app no problem.

If this continues, with the competition in the smart phone/android market, South Africans will start to can Apple devices due to the pathetic App Store for South Africa. The most popular games and Apps are not available here and until Apple get smart and make a Global Store for purchases not matter where you are in the world, Apple will continue to loose support. I have everything Apple, but am tired of the run around to try and buy good Apps.

If you will allow me to say so ... Calm down.
It really isn't the fault of Apple.  The developers of apps, the writers of music and of books all have copyright or exclusivity deals through agents in order to market their creations.
These arrangements are usually conducted on an individual national basis and as a result what would be allowed in one country is not allowed in another if that is what the agent wants.
Apple has to negotiate through this mire to get the best deal it can yet always accepting that many other interested parties want similar privileges.
So you can see, like politics, world wide agreements are just not possible.

  • Help! I need a flexi cable (Apple South Africa doens't want to sell me one)

    Hi All,
My machine (Powerbook G4 17" 1.67Ghz, las generation before switch to intel) is out of warranty, and the flexi cable connecting the top platter (containing the KB, trackpad and power button) to the main board is damaged (developed a small crack). I am told the only way to get a hold of a replacement cable is to order a whole new top platter from Apple. I talked to Apple Support South Africa (managed through the Core Group). Received incredibly poor service from them, Had to repeatedly call them for 3 days on end before even getting an answer out of them, calls are never returned, etc.
Is this true? Is there any way I can get this cable as a stand-alone part? Surely it must have its own part number? Please, I am desperate, it's patched together, but my machine is unreliable - loses power easily and abruptly.
thank you for any help or insight,
    Dawid

I managed a peek at a PowerBook service manual and there is no mention of a separate cable. Everything references an "top case assembly" with no separate listing for cables attached to it.
Here are some US-based Mac notebook repair and parts companies. Perhaps their tech support people can at least tell you if that cable is available separately:

  • Hi there - I have an iPhone 4s which I bought from the apple store here in the UK. I am going to South Africa at the end of the year and I want to use a SA sim card - do I need it unlocked?

Hi there - I have an iPhone 4s which I bought from the apple store here in the UK. I am going to South Africa at the end of the year and I want to use a SA sim card - do I need it unlocked?

    Hi,
As far as I know, all the iPhones bought online or in the Apple Store ar unlocked.
Only carriers (e.g. T-mobile, Vodafone, O2) are able to lock a phone, Apple won't do that (afaik).
This would mean that you shouldn't need to unlock your iPhone.
    Kind regards,
    Hugo

This is a user-to-user technical support forum. You're not addressing Apple here. Nor is anyone but spammers likely to respond to you by email.
Yes, you can use your iPad in South Africa. All of the built in apps should work just fine.

  • Apple update server in South Africa

To my understanding, Software Update contacts the international server, and then redirects the connection to a nearer update server (in South Africa) when downloading. If the international update server index file is at "swscan.apple.com/content/catalogs/index-1.sucatalog", does anyone perhaps know the South African address? (or Where could I find it? or Who should I ask?)
We have very limited bandwidth in South Africa, and my blended (international and local) internet cap runs dry very quickly. I then have access to local cap that I would like to use to update OSX.

I just checked the list of countries at the bottom of the iTunes store home page and South Africa is listed. It is only an App Store (no music and videos).
Be sure you have the latest iTunes (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/) and try again.

  • When will Apple South Africa start selling newly launched Apple products and not out dated products?

All the Apple stores as wll as the istores in South Africa always only start to sell new lines a year or two after the lines were launched. I always have to inport all my Apple products as it is never for sale in my country.
It defnetly give Apple a bad name in Africa and that is why Apple is looked down to here in Africa. Android, p.c and linex is strong here because its afalable as soon as it enter the market but by the time we can buy the Apple product android have newer apps ect.
I ask out of the bottom of my heart, please Apple PTY LTD. Get your Africa suppliers and branches up to date.
    Daniel

We are fellow users here on these forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple - I've asked the hosts to remove your phone number from your post (it's not a good idea to post personal info on any public forum).
We won't know if/when current models might be sold there. If you want to leave feedback for Apple then you can do so here : http://www.apple.com/feedback/
