Apple wireless keyboard isn't working on fresh Windows 7 Boot Camp except in safe mode

OK so yesterday I decided to reinstall Windows 7 to my mid 2011 27 inch iMac. I've had Windows 7 on it for a couple years but it got so bogged down that I wanted to start from scratch. However once I finished installing all of the Boot Camp 5.0 drivers from Apple the wireless keyboard stopped working. I'm not sure if the Magic Mouse would work because I use a wired Razer mouse which works fine and I don't feel like digging it out. I know that the keyboard can work becase I'm useing it to type this right now in Windows safe mode but when I boot Windows normally (Without holding F8) the keyboard doesn't work at all. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know as I've tried for at least 4 hours to get it to work with no luck. I tried reseting the NVRAM and PRAM, reinstalling the apple drivers, removing and resyncing the keyboard in both OSX and Windows 7. If anyone has a solution for this please let me know.

Even after all of your suggestions, as well as Apple Care's (I have a case # and everything), I still get random freezes either before, during, or after log-in. The latest futile attemps including complete removal of the Citrix software, and creation of a new user account.
Thanks also to all of you, I know I'm not alone:

(and more I can't get to because of the freezing problem!)
Feedback submitted... Apple had best address this issue IMMEDIATELY. It is embarassing to have to use either my Windows PC at work, or my 4-year-old G4 iMac at home, because my new $2000+ iMac occasionally turns into an aluminum-and-glass paperweight.

  • Wacom Tablet causes Apple wireless keyboard to stop working.

My Wacom tablet/pen causes my Apple wireless keyboard to stop working.  While working on a photo in Photoshop using my Apple (usb) mouse to make selections the keyboard works fine.  When I use the Wacom Pen to make selections, not immediately but anywhere from five to ten minutes into it, I hear what sounds like a chirp from my computer (Mac Pro) and my keyboard stops working.  The command, option, control and direction keys still work but not the number and letter keys.  I have to connect a spare Logitech keyboard via USB in order to continue and not loose my work.  After awhile I will hear the chirp again and the Apple keyboard will start working.  This will continue to occur at irregular intervals.  Without the spare keyboard I've had to reboot my computer (loosing all the work on the photo) to get the keyboard working again, but only for it to reoccur.  Any suggestions to fix this would be appreciated.

The Mac inherently keeps all input methods active, such that you could type alternate keys on alternate keyboards.
If you have third party add-ons that might change the way Bluetooth works, those would be the primary suspects.
Be sure all your Drivers are completely up-to-date, and batteries in battery-powered devices are still strong.
Bluetooth uses the same part of the frequency spectrum (but a different modulation technique) as cheap WiFi Routers, baby monitors, and microwave ovens. if you live in a busy apartment building, there may be very high levels of interference.

  • HT3917 My apple wireless keyboard is not working after new batteries installed

My apple wireless keyboard is not working after new batteries installed.

Do you get a steady green light to say there is a connection.    If not, are the batteries the right way round.   Do you have a monitor to tell the batteries strength. Is there a reading.   Are the batteries good quality ones, Duracell, Energiser or Apple rechargeables.

  • Control keys of latest apple wireless keyboard don't work on iPhone 4

    Hello;
I just brought the latest apple wireless keyboard(2011) and I tried the control keys(briteness, music control, volume control) none of them worked on my iPhone 4(ios 4.3.5), but those shortcuts like: cmd+a, cmd+c...worked very well, I don't know what's wrong with this and I think those control keys are very useful, I'm planning to replace my old Lenovo laptop with my new accessory, who can give me a hand please!!! Thank you!

A number of folks have reported that the newest Apple BT keyboard, designed for use with Mac OS X Lion has this issue. Unfortunately the new KB has the same model number as the one for Snow Leopard. The way to tell them apart is the F4 key, on the Snow Leopard KB it has the Dashboard icon. I would try to find an Apple retailer with the Snow Leopard KB in stock and exchange your KB for one of them. The Snow Leopard KBs work great with the iPad, with all applicable function keys operating.

  • Wireless Keyboard is not working and I cannot boot to MAC using Boot Camp

    Hi,
I cannot get my wireless keyboard to connect to the Mac anymore. I have a 17" iMac that is running Boot Camp. since the Mac keyboard is not working I am using a PC USB keyboard (which does not have an "option" key) without the Option key I cannot enter Mac mode, so I only get the default boot to XP... HELP!!! Is there any other way to get into Mac mode without using the option key on the keyboard? Or is there another key on the PC keyboard that maps to Option?
    Thanks

I wrote up my travails getting the wireless keyboard working, maybe it will help: http://industriousone.com/apple-wireless-keyboard-vs-windows-xp. Otherwise, you can boot into OSX by clicking on the Boot Camp icon in the system tray (looks like a gray diamond) and choose "Reboot in OS X mode" (or something like that, working from memory). In OS X, you can reboot into Boot Camp by going to System Preferences > Startup Disk and choosing Windows. Hope that helps!

  • Apple wireless keyboard no longer working with boot camp Windows 7

    Hi,
I've had Boot Camp installed for about half a year now with no problems.
Yesterday my wireless keyboard stopped working with it, it also appears that bluetooth isn't in the device manager or in the control panel,  it could no linger detect either my magic mouse or keyboard despite having fresh new batteries. They do however still work with my Mac OSX partition. It also lets me hold down alt to choose which OS to boot into on startup however when it gets to the log in screen for windows the keyboard stopped working.
I've tried unpairing them in OSX then trying it in Windows but like I said bluethooth doesnt even appear to be there and it wont detect them. I've also tried reinstalling the apple drivers twice, still doesn't work.
    If it helps I have a early 2011 iMac 21.5inch and it's Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
    Thanks,
    Dan

This may be just a Boot Camp issue, if no one here can help you may also want to post in the Boot Camp forum.

  • New apple wireless keyboard doesn't work after upgrade to leopard on mini

I am posting this because I have not seen anybody else post this issue, but it is fixed at this point.
I installed the new apple ultra slim wireless keyboard on my mac mini about a month ago...was working great...until I upgraded to Leopard. The keyboard would connect, and the esc, function, and arrow keys would work great. However, none of the letter, number, or enter keys would work. This was all observed using the 'show keyboard viewer', which is accessible by allowing 'show input menu in menu bar' from the 'international' system preference pane.
I rebooted many times and even updated to the latest leopard patch set.
During this whole time, the wireless mighty mouse has worked without issue.
I removed the device and added several times with no change. I even moved the wireless keyboard to my G5 and it worked great over there.
After a few days of trying various things to no avail, I was finally able to get the keys to work, but I am not sure why. I had a wired keyboard connected and kept going back and forth between the wireless and wired keyboard and all of a sudden it started working. Very strange.

this problem is fixed, but if anybody has an idea what happened, I would like to know.

  • Will the new Apple wireless keyboard and mouse work with my Macbook Pro?

Looking at purchasing a wireless keyboard and mouse for my Macbook Pro. Figured the one made by apple will work, but not sure... Any suggestions on a good wireless keyboard and mouse, or knowledge on whether Apples will work or not?

    keyboard: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Apple/MC184LLANB/
    magic mouse: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Apple/MB829LLABB/
I just got them last week and the keyboard is new and the mouse is used but looks brand new.  And you get a free pair of AA bateries with the mouse.  And you can get 2AA batteries for the keyboard for an extra $1.29 I highly recommend going this route as I did very recently and am very pleased.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard doesn't work

I am running Boot Camp w/Windows XP Service Pack 3. I cannot ever connect my Apple Bluetooth Keyboard in Windows. The mouse seems to work OK but the keyboard just doesn't work. Is there a way to get this working?

  • Apple USB keyboard does not work on PC (Windows 8)

I am trying to use my USB Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad with my PC that is running Windows 8 but it will not work. It does not respond at all. It works fine with a USB mouse and a different keyboard.
Are there any drivers that are required?

I'm facing the same problem, found any solutions ?

  • Is the Apple Wireless Keyboard fully compatible with Windows 7 in Boot Camp?

If you have an iMac running Snow Leopard and Windows 7, will the Apple Wireless Keyboard work properly in Windows 7 (via Boot Camp)?
I'm asking because a friend of mine has an Apple Wired Keyboard that they want to get rid of, and upgrade to an Apple Wireless Keyboard. However, their concern is that the Apple Wireless Keyboard won't work properly (or reliably) when they run Windows 7 on their iMac.

I'm using an Apple Wireless Keyboard running Boot Camp and Windows 7 64 bit right now typing this.   Seems to run just fine under Windows 7 for me.  Some of the familiar Windows keyboard keys are not present, of course, though there are key mappings to get to those too.  I actually like this keyboard a lot, under Windows 7 or OS X.

  • Win7-64 intel computer apple wireless keyboard

I have a (1st gen?) apple wireless keyboard.
I had previously used it quite successfully in my intel e8400 Vista 32bit computer. (Kensington bluetooth dongle)
    I recently built a a Win7 intel Core i7 64bit computer. (Home premium)
I tried the same (older model) bluetooth dongle and pair up the same wireless keyboard. No Go.
When I call Kensington, they swear it is just that I have an old model dongle and a new dongle will fix it up right, no problem. So......I order the dongle, wait a week and install it. No Go.
Interestingly, the Win7 computer finds the keyboard, identifies it as an apple wireless keyboard, and asks for the pairing code. I type in 1234 or 0000 (on a plugged in keybaord) and then the circle spins...and spins. Finally one of two things happens. Either the bluetooth tells me the keybaord timed out, or it says the incorrect code was entered.
A phone call and inquiry to Apple sales staff and they say that the "tech guys" say that due to "improvements" the new apple wireless keyboards will not work with anything but an apple computer.
I just find that a little hard to believe. since it is bluetooth, and the older keyboard (that has not therefore been "improved"), the switch from 32 to 64 bit shouldn't make an difference should it (radio signals is radio signals, right?)? and the Vista to Win7 switch should not matter either?
First question, Am I putting in the right pairing code?
Second question, any thought on whether this is possible or not?
Your thoughts, suggestions, etc., are appreciated in advance.

    Hi Heleny,
Sorry to hear about your trouble connecting the keyboard. What version of operating system do you have? You are trying to connect it with bluetooth correct?
