Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse internal speaker not working !!!

Recently I bought an used Wireless Mighty Mouse (first version with grey side buttons), the mouse is working perfectly minus the single little detail that I can not hear any clicking sound from the internal tiny speaker inside the mouse when I use the little scroll ball above the mouse or when I press the grey side buttons, is this normal or should I hear the clicking sound simulated by the internal speaker? is there a way to enable or disable the internal speaker by software? Maybe is disabled by default, I don't know. I really don't think the speaker could be damaged due to the rest of the mouse is working like a charm but maybe mine came without a speaker, could be? or maybe it got disconnected somehow. Any clues or ideas would be very helpful. Thanks !

I know what a microswitch is, please look at these links, here are the proof there is (or maybe there was) a tiny speaker in some mighty mouse and wireless mighty mouse:

and I can keep giving you tens of links to proof you that actually there is (or maybe there was) a tiny speaker inside the mighty mouse and the wireless mighty mouse, If yours came without one it doesn't necessarily mean all came without one, right? That is why I asked you what version you have in order to figure out which ones does have the speaker and which one doesn't.

  • Apple wireless Mighty Mouse not working in Windows XP Pro/Boot Camp

I was able to get Windows XP Pro to install successfully on my new iMac, but I can only get a wired Microsoft USB mouse to work with it. When I boot to WinXP with just my wireless Mighty Mouse, the wireless mouse is completely unresponsive. Has anyone else experienced this, and is there a solution? Thanks!

  • Apple Wireless Mighty mouse

    Hi,
I have a wireless mighty mouse, and over the past couple of weeks I have noticed that the scroll wheel is acting funny. It will scroll down and side to side, but not up. This will happen sometimes then the mouse will start working normally again. It's still within the years warranty, but I'm not sure if I could find the receipt but was wondering if they would have a way to locate my purchase because I paid by card? Is there an easy way to fix this or should I just return it to Apple for a refund?
    Regards,
    Michael

It takes a lot of caution, but I use a cleaning solvent (light fluid). I've tried cloth and dry t-shirts, but nothing had worked quite as well for me. The polycarbonate shell won't get marred by the solvent and I haven't had any problems with the rubber on the scroll bar.
Of course using flammable liquids means you're doing so knowing the risks and can take responsibility for your own safety. I've heard of people who tried killing head lice with gasoline and the fumes were ignited by a water heater.

  • Mighty mouse in bootcamp not working

    Hi Team.
I have just installed Vista Ultimate and the newest drivers for it from apple (the new exe download)
Its all gone well and I am typing to you from the apple wireless keyboard.
However the wireless mighty mouse is not working.
    I followed this procedure.
Opened bluetooth in the control panel and added an item. It searched and found the mouse I selected it then told it I did not want to connect with a passkey. Eventually it says connected sucessfully with no pass key. The one of those terribly annoying pop up ballons tells me there is new bluetooth click to use it, I click it and then a new window comes up asking me to enter a pass key?
We can get no further. Basically it says connected but does not work.
    Any ideas?

I've got exactly the same problem - iMac with Bootcamp, Vista Ultimate 32-bit, recognises wireless keyboard but keep getting the same pop-up asking for a passkey for my mighty mouse despite asking it to set it up with no passkey.
Went throught the whole Bootcamp/Vista install process fairly seamlessly otherwise.
    Anyone got any other ideas?

  • Mighty mouse right click not working...

    Hi,
I've recently bought my macbook pro in the summer along with a wireless mighty mouse. after working on the computer a while, the right click function stops working! i tried installing the software that comes with the mouse but i get the same results...
    any suggestions?
    thanks in advance!

. Follow the steps for disassembling the MM on many of the web sites until you have the upper shell separated from the base. I found removing the bottom grey ring the easiest method.
    2. Inside the upper shell you will see the plastic backed carbon traces used to detect the finger locations. In the centre of the upper shell is also a copper strip adhered to the shell. The plastic traces and the copper shim have a connection through a carbon dot on the shell where there are two holes next to a black carbon dot. I found that there were two issues with my MM that may have caused my issues. The first was that the plastic detectors were not fully adhered and flat on the inner shell. Then I found that the small carbon button which contacts the copper was not fully pressed down. I ran my finger over the entire internal surface of the shell to press down the adhesive bonded parts and then reassembled the mouse.
    3. Instead of gluing the bottom grey ring back on the mouse, fit it in place with small sections of 3M invisible tape, over the grey ring and upper case, just in case things go awry again. If they're small enough, you won't see them when the mouse in operation and the case remains securely closed. Once you are sure you have no more problems then you can add a dab or two of superglue to permanently close the case at a later date or still have access to clean the scroll mechanism at a later time as well.
The other outcome might be that my disassembly and reassmbly reseated a poorly contacting cable(s) from the base the the upper shell. Either way, I have a fully functioning right click again in all situations. I have not had to remove the batteries in the mouse for over a week now whereas the power reset was becoming an hourly occurrence previously.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard - Shift + 'r' key not working. It doesn't capitalise the letter. Can someone help please. Thank you.

    Hi all,
I am having some problem with the Apple Wireless Keyboard. It has not problem connecting to both my iPad mini / iPhone 4S.
The problem comes when I start to type with it. All the keys are functioning will, except when I am trying to capitalise the letter 'r'.
I tried using Shift + r. It doesn't work, regardless whether I use the left or right Shift key.
Any someone help please. Thank you.

If your Macbook is less than a year old, it is under warranty. A repair of of a problem of this kind would be free. So, if you have a warranty, have the problem fixed by Apple.
If your Macbook is more than one year old, please tell us what operating system you are running, and any other information that would help understand what is going on.
If you do get the keyboard to work for a short time, long enough to post back, please unlock the "caps lock" button.

  • Bluetooth Mighty Mouse and Keyboard not working in Win XP!

    Hi All,
I simply cannot get my Bluetooth Mighty Mouse and Keyboard to work in Win XP via Bootcamp! The bluetooth icon appears in the tray and even shows that they are connected but they do nothing at all. One thing to note is that they show up as connected but with no password. Could this be the problem? If I reconnected the two with new passcodes for XP, would they still work when I reboot in OSX?

upgrading to vista sorted things out!

  • Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse stopped working

Any ideas on how to make it work?
I have a regular wireless mouse which does work, but the mighty mouse doesn't. I've tried turning it off and on several times, replaced the batteries, cleaned the little ball, but nothing works.
    Thank you,
    Lee Anne

    Hi Lee-Anne-
Does anything happen at all? Does the Mac see it in the Bluetooth setup?
It may be time to invoke your warranty or AppleCare.

  • Vista 64 bit with apple wireless keyboard volume, cd eject not working

I successfuly got Vista Ultimate 64 bit installed in Boot Camp on my Mac Pro, and got my Apple wireless mouse and wireless keyboard working after some trouble. But I still can't use the volume control or the cd eject or brightness control keys in Windows Vista.
    Any suggestions?

Maybe you could update the Boot Camp drivers. That happened to my internal keyboard, and updated drivers some times fixed it. Other times it fixed itself after a few restarts.

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse right click not responding

I was happily using Final cut Pro but noticed that the right click on the mighty mouse wasn't working. I checked my settings of the mouse and confirmed that 'secondary button' was selected, but no right click was picked up in any application.
Rebooted Mac with no effect. Switched right button to 'Expose' but that wouldn't work either.
Solution: Took batteries out of mouse and reinserted. All now resolved.

Have you shut down (powered off) the Mac and restarted since this problem occurred? Have you turned OFF Bluetooth and turned it back ON? Have you checked the strength of the two batteries in the mouse?
The buttons not working does not sound like a typical cleaning or hardware issue (although the scroll ball not scrolling is probably a cleaning issue). It may be a software problem.
First, go to System Preferences +Keyboard & Mouse+ pane Mouse tab, and make some changes to the settings of the buttons that do not work. Change them any to a different setting. See if each change takes effect. If it does, change it back to the way it was before. This will rewrite the preference settings, and hopefully get those buttons working again.
I would also do the usual general trouble-shooting actions. Run Disk Utility and use the +Repair Disk Permissions+ routine. Then restart using the reset PRAM command.

  • Bootcamp, Mighty Mouse and Keyboard not working

    Hi All,
I just install yesterday Windows 7 (Ultimate 64bits) by Bootcamp in my iMac 21" (bought in 2013).
During the installation, the Mighty Mouse and the keyboard were not working (except the first W7 screens, selecting partition and language), and now, installation finished, i got to use an external keyboard to select username and password, because Mighty Mouse and Wireless Keyboard are not working with Windows.
I restart the computer using OSX and both are working fine.
    Could you please help me?
    Best

  • Help with Bootcamp (Speakers and mighty mouse scroll wheel not working)

So I just loaded bootcamp onto my macbook but I'm having some problems.  First, my scroll bar on my mighty mouse doesn't work when in Windows.  The only help I've seen online has been for those who haven't yet loaded windows.  Can I still download a driver that will help me out?  My speakers also are not working and the Realtek driver that everyone said worked for them didn't work for me.  Advice?

Sorry, this is not possible in the current version of Firefox, but we have an open bug report where we are tracking this issue here:
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=686228
With luck it will be fixed in a future version.

  • Sony VAIO Flip internal speaker not working why?

    Hi,
First time posting, first time Sony laptop user. I've had this Sony VAIO Flip 15 - SVF15N17CXB, laptop for a few months now everything has been working fine. Til lately I been hearing static on my laptop when I played music or videos. I managed to look up some of the common problems and adjusted my audio options til I got it fixed, and it worked.
Until now, where I can only hear from he left internal speaker on my laptop. It was working fine earlier, but now it seems to have given out. I don't know if I blew it out or maybe I messed up the settings. I've tried updating my driver it says I have he latest one. I've uninstalled the driver, reboot my system, and it automatically reinstalled it, but still nothing.
I'm not sure if I need to get it repaired or etc. I would take it to the Sony store, but they permanently closed all their locations in Canada. Please help, it is greatly appreciated!
    Sincerely,
    Eddie

  • IPOD TOUCH 16 GB: Internal Speaker Not Working. Help!

I recently purchesed an iPod Touch, 16GB, not sure of the generation, off of someone on craiglist.com. I checked it out with the person there before paying, and everything worked fine. The only thing I didn't check was the speaker. (I had tried it with the headphones in.)
The speaker does not work at all. I tried resetting, restarting, updating (says that the software is current on itunes 3.1.3), and nothing still. It's set on speaker only (tried both setting also). When the headphones are in the volume slider, I can adjust it, but if I unplug them the slider completely disapperars and I can't adjust volume on speaker mode. Music, Apps, absolutely no sound on speaker setting. Help...please?

You can look up what gen you have at http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/
I don't know what else to try for the speaker problem. The original touches don't have a speaker, but it sounds like yours does, it just doesn't work.

  • Mighty mouse: tracking ball not working well

"No, kidding", I am sure you are all saying:)
The mouse works in three directions, but not going down. I have just read another post where someone with the same identical problem as me was told to turn it upside down and rub it vigorously onto a piece of paper. I have done that, but there is no change. Any advice??? Thanks.

The phone number I found in my manual in the UK is (44) 0870 876 0753.
Personally I find the website OK but I have to admit sometimes I get a little frustrated but overall I find it very helpful. Last you can always use Google, which is extremely easy.
As I mentioned you can always go to an Apple Store, here is the link so you can search for the closest store in the UK there are quite a few. I know there is at least one store in Glasgow of course I have no idea how close that is to you.

I'm afraid I can't help you on their policies however if you would like to provide Apple feedback go to www.apple.com/feedback.
