Applet needing to access the client system

Hi,
Ive got an applet that I need to be able to launch a .exe that exists on a client's computer...the applet is going to be signed etc.
Ive read that it can do this if the client running it explicitly allows the applet access to the required resources...
My problem is I need the applet to run with as little hastle as possible....preferrably it pops up a security warning, says who the applet is from and if the user accepts the certificate, the applet has access to what it needs...I cant have the client having to go download this or that or bring up another program to grant access.
I know that this is possible through Active X controls and basically I just need to know whether or not its even worth while attempting to develop a solution in Java. If you can give me any info at all in any level of detail (the more the better) I would be eternally in your debt. (Ive got 2 days to solve this problem.)

Ive been looking at something call authenticode as a solution....anyone know if this will give me the effect I desire? I wish I could get away with sticking with pure Java tools but this is war!!

hi,
i am using tomcat 5.0 as server and jsp as front end.
I placed some of the software in the server system.I want to open the exe of those software from the client system when the user clicks the button.
I am able to open them in the server system itself but if i try to open it from other system(client system using ip address of server system), the exe file gets opened and displayed in the server system only but not in the client system.
any idea???

i am not using applets and downloading the software to clients machine is not required, the user has to click the "open software buttton" and it should get displayed in his system.
anyhow can u give me some idea on using applets--- iam not good in applet coding.

Could not access the central system - CUA problem

Hi all,
Please help me with this problem.
Its just a test scenario, when everything will be good here, i have to do the same for Production.
We just did upgrade our R3 system from 4.6 to ECC6.0.
I created CUA on DB1100 ( Dev BW 4.6 ) with two child systems 1) DC1150 ( Dev CRM 4.6)
2) DE1400 ( DEV ECC 6.0 ).
Now everything is working fine between DB1100 and DC1150..
It works like CUA ( DB1100) and child (DC1150) systems as it should be.
But connection between DB1100 and DE1400 is not working fine. When you go to SU01 in DE1400, it does not allow me to change anything. It means connection is there and DB1100 is taking DE1400 as child system but when i am updating any user information or roles in DB1100 it is not updating child system DE1400.
And when i went to tcode SCUA in DE1400 it gave me this error.
"Could not access the central system DB1100".
I dont know whats happening. I did same config in DE1400 as i did in DC1150. DC1150 is working fine but not DE1400.
The most weird thing is that DB1100 is thinking DE1400 as child system and i can not make any changes to DE1400 directly.
please help me with this. What i can do to make this working between DB1100 and DE1400??
i need to do the same in production if it gets passed.

seems that you have a problem with the rfc-connections....
Please check in both directions. The connection have to work without problems.
Check SCUL in DB1100 - what is the status of the distributed users? Errors, unconfirmed?
Check idocs in DE1400. Are there some? What is their status?
The most common error is coming from not working rfc-connections. That brings for instance problems while generationg partner profiles, etc. Also the strict naming convention (log. system name=system name in CUA landscape = name of used RFC-connections) has to be considered....
So that are some points, that you could check.

Were you able to reset the account's password ? If not then how did you try to get it reset e.g. http://iforgot.apple.com (which would have sent it to the rescue email address if you have one on that account) ? You can also try contacting iTunes Support in your country to get it reset : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
And no, accounts can't be merged nor content transferred between accounts.

Need help accessing the router web page. I have been told my router is acting like a switch and the IP address is not in the proper range. I have tried reseting the router (hold for 30 sec and unplug for 5 mins). Didn't work.

What router are you using? Almost all Linksys routers use 192.168.1.1 as the default local IP address, but there is at least one that uses 192.168.16.1 , namely the WTR54GS (not the WRT54GS).
You need to try again to reset the router to factory defaults.
To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:
1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
5) Power down the router.
6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank (note: a few Linksys routers have a default user name of "admin" (with no quotes)), and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.
If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk (or setup the router manually, if you prefer), and see if you can get your router setup and working.
If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is dead.
If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt. In this case, use the Linksys tftp.exe program to try to reload your router with the latest firmware. After reloading the firmware, repeat the above procedure starting with step 1.
If you need additional help, please state your ISP, the make and model of your modem, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10. Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.

If they were ripped from CD's there is no authorization.
Were they possibly purchased with a different Apple ID? If so, you'll need to authorize the computer for that Apple ID.

Use Migration Assistant on your new Mac:
Click Continue:
On the next screen, choose your Time Machine backup disk.
Don't bother to migrate Applications unless you know they will work on your new Mac. For example, PowerPC applications won't work. Just migrate your user account which will copy all your photos, music, movies, and other documents.
Note: you will not be able to migrate the information to same account in which you are already logged in. Migration Assistant will tell you that and recommend what to do. It can migrate the information to a new account, but you will have to give it a name you might want to change later. One way around this is to create a temporary account, log in to it, and run Migration Assistant which will replace your normal account. Then, log out of the temporary account, log in to your usual one, verify everyting works as you expect, and delete the temporary one.
All this can be avoided when you set up a brand new Mac by running Setup Assistant which essentially does the same thing to create your new account, but most people are too excited to do that and elect to migrate later.

How to access the client PCs via RDP FROM Windows Server 2003

Hopefully this is not an ignorant question, but every thread I've read focuses on client PCs not being able to access the terminal server. I have the opposite problem. I am working remotely and have full access to the servers (some of which are virtuals).
I need to be able to connect to the various workstations, but I cannot. Is this just a setting I have misconfigured? Is there any software I can deploy to these PCs that will allow me to log in and update their workstations?

Thank you for your posting in Windows Server Forum.
You can able to take RDP for client system from server. But keep in mind that; client system can only allow 1 RDP session at a time for administrator purpose. For that you need to have permission for taking rdp session.
Also you need to verify that “Remote Desktop Service” service is running and also need to verify the below thread as per snap.
In addition, if you want to manage all the server and client system, then you can use Remote Desktop Connection Manager to manage all the client and server remotely.

Passing information from Applet to IE on the client

Hi everybody,
Does anybody know if it is possible to pass HTML formatted string (or any string for that matter) to the IE on the client without forcing browser to go back to server ?
The situation is the following - Applet application has all information it needs to form an HTML page to be presented in the separate Window by the Browser. At this point it sends it back to the server and then calls Browser with the appropriate URL. It obviously clumsy. I am looking for a way to pass it directly on the client side. It is OK if some permissions should be granted to the Applet.

Your JavaScirpt can communicate with your applet. Provide some methods on your applet that the JavaScript can call to gather all information, then your JavaScript can place this in an html window.
Make sure you ID your applet or NAME your applet ie ID = "myApplet". The JavaScript can then access this object as document.myApplet.callSomeMethodOnThisApplet().
