AppleTV2 can't stream audio to my airport express

Dear Apple Support,
I just bought a brand new AppleTV2 (2nd generation) today and wanted to get my Apple setup just perfect - but AppleTV2 second generation dissapointed REALLY! You should definitely stick with AppleTV 1st generation.
AppleTV2 can't stream audio wirelessly from to for example you hifi-system. This is REALLY a downgrade!
I really hope that Apple's amazing development team will fix this as soon as possible via a software update.
The baseline of this comment is:
AppleTV 1st Generation can stream wireless audio to Airport Express.
AppleTV 2nd Generation can not stream wireless audio to Airport Express - which is a MAJOR DOWNGRADE!
Best regards,
Poul Rói Mohr

  • Can I strem audio to my airport express? but not only iTunes

Can I stream audio to my airport express? but not only iTunes. where can I suggest to Apple make some about it?

Hello keer. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Can I stream audio to my airport express? but not only iTunes.
Yes. To stream audio, other than from an iTunes source, to an AirPort Express Base Station (AX) you will need a third-party product, like Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil.
where can I suggest to Apple make some about it?
You can submit suggestions to Apple at the following link: Apple Product Feedback

Can I stream safari to my airport express?
3rd party software like airfoil is a posibility but I think its a bit odd that I, using a mac omputer and a mac airport extreme, need to buy software to connect these two. So is there an other way to fix this?

Can I stream safari to my airport express?
I assume that you mean: Can I stream web-based audio files to the AirPort Express Base Station? That is, audio files not originating from iTunes ... correct?
If so, then (as far as your iMac is concerned) you already answered your own question with Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil. For iOS devices, you can use AirPlay with audio sources other than iTunes.

  • Fix streaming audio dropouts with Airport Express (811g)?

Every time I try playing streaming audio with just an external audio system connected via Airport Express (811g) I get frequent dropouts no matter what kbps setting of the source. Looks like it is not being buffered properly. However, if I choose Multiple Speakers and include Computer, everything is fine. Actually, if I choose Multiple Speakers, include Computer and let it run this way for 5-10 minutes, I can then turn off Computer and everything is fine. Obviously I have a work-around, but is there a better solution?

I experience a similar drop - only w/streaming audio URLs I've opened in the "Advanced" option of iTunes' Menu; I don't experience drops when audio is streamed from iTunes Radio listings. Just want to thank you for the work-around info: it works and until reading your post if I wanted streaming audio sound from remote speakersI had to disconnect the mac w/my music from Airport and connect it directly to modem!
Thanks (sorry don't have insight for dismissing "work-around")!

  • Can I stream AirTunes to my Airport Express and my windows media center?

Hello all, I am just about to install a windows media center in my lounge room and I would like to know how I can stream from my office mac to not only my airport express in the dining room, but my new windows box in the lounge.
I have iTunes installed and a wireless card on the PC and speakers attached, so just wondering how I can stream from the iMac in the office to both devices? Any advice and tips? I love streaming from my iMac to the dining room, just want to be able to get the media center in on the action now
    Surely this is possible?
    Thanks,
    Matt

To the best of my knowledge, there isn't an easy way to stream iTunes from a Mac to a PC in the manner you desire, with the PC essentially emulating an Airport Express.
What you want to do is supported by the third party utility Airfoil (see http://www.rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/mac/ ) if the sending and receiving computers are both Macs, but I don't think the Windows version of this utility supports this feature.
I suppose you could use third party software to set up your Mac so that it streams music over your network, in a manner that your PC and (for example) Windows media player could receive - but that is a solution beyond the scope of this discussion forum.

  • How can I stream audio from apple tv to airport express

    Hello,
i have an apple tv and would like to stream audio to my airport-express. Is this possible?
    Thanks,

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
It's not possible from the Apple TV 2 or 3.

  • How can I stream audio from Apple TV 2 to Airport Express speakers.

how can I stream audio from Apple TV 2 to Airport Express speakers.
I have LCD projector on one wall and connected ATV to it via HDMI.
Speakers on the other wall and connected to APXpress.

To be honest the times we've wanted to have music from more than one set of speakers, I've usually used my mac's iTunes library and controlled it either from the mac or from my phone, since they're not really the times we have any TV on anyway. I've tested AirTunes from the Apple TV but can't recall whether it worked with content from a streaming library.
Now I've got something to do.

how  can i stream audio to ipad from video playing on the apple tv using air play?

I don't know what AppleTV can handle as far as bit rate is concerned, but increase the bit rate as high as it will let you. You are taking DV which is 25Mb/s and compressing it. If you're making an H.264, you should get great results needing no more than 6Mb/s. Bear in mind, the higher the bit rate, the larger the file size.

  • Play DVD with audio sound via Airport Express speakers

Is it possible to play my DVD with audio sound via my Airport Express speakers?
I can play music with iTunes trough these speakers, it would be nice if I can hear my DVDs aswell.
iMac intel core duo   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Not using Front Row.
The real issue here is that audio and video stream at different speeds and it is hard to maintain sync. You know how when you hit play within iTunes it takes a while for the song to start through the speakers? It's the same with the DVD. So you'd need to work an offset into the audio when playing a DVD and it's not an exact science.
You can download VLC player and mess around with the offset, then you'll also need a program like Airfoil to be able to force audio through the airport express.
    Good luck!

  • Problem having ATV (1G) audio play to Airport Express connected speakers

I've had some difficulties trying to have my ATV (1st Gen) act as a jukebox and play its audio on speakers connected to an Airport Express. When I select the remote speakers on the ATV it attempts to connect to them, spins for a while, and then gives up. The same speakers work fine if I remotely connect to them from a Mac running iTunes instead. I'd really like to use this feature with the ATV since it is always on and I can control it from anywhere on my network using my iPhone.
Anyone else having any success using the ATV to play to remote speakers?

You are mistaken. The Apple TV (1st Gen) can stream music to an Airport Express over AirTunes. It is selectable in the ATV settings display, and in the Apple Remote iPhone application, and I've successfully done it before. However, it does not always connect to the speakers properly, whereas a Mac running iTunes has no problem.

  • How can I set up an older airport express using the newest airport utilities?

How can I set up an older airport express using the newest airport utilities? Seems like there isn't an option to set this up.  Normally you could add/set up this in the airport setup assistant- but that doesn't exsist any longer.
    Thanks for any suggestions

How can I set up an older airport express using the newest airport utilities?
Unfortunately you can't, since Apple dropped support of the older AirPorts with AirPort Utility 6.x.
Using some workarounds....not supported by Apple.....you might be able to download and install an older version of AirPort Utility that would allow you to administer the older AirPort.

Hi guys, recently had the same issue. You require an older version of Airport Utility to configure the older Airport Express. It can be found here.

Can't connect (wireless) to my Airport Express anymore with iBook, iPad or iPhone. It still recognizes the printer on the iBook (bonjour), but not on my Windows notebook (work). The only device that still connects via wireless is the PlayStation 3.

The latest firmupdate solved the issue.

Can I connect an A1084 model Airport Express using current version of Airport Utility?

You will need an older 5.x version of AirPort Utility to be able to administer the older AirPort Express.  That would mean that you need to have....or be able to borrow for 10-15 minutes......a Mac running Leopard (10.5.x), Snow Leopard (10.6.x), or a PC with AirPort Utility installed on the device.
