AppleWorks last ran under 10.6; I have 10.8 on the MacBook Air. Is it possible to load a copy of 10.6 to use as a separate startup disk so that I can have access to AppleWorks on the MacBook Air?
Like many, I have been a Mac user since the original little guy, and have tons of documents created under Claris Works and AppleWorks. I can still run AppleWorks under 10.6 on my wife's iMac (Intel chips), but not the 10.8 that came with the MacBook Air. On older machines, I could load and select different versions of the OS as different startup disks. Would this be possible on the MacBook Air to be able to retain operational access to the AppleWorks software and all those files I have accumulated?

The answer to your question is YES: to run Appleworks on your MBA, install Snow Leopard Server into Parallels 8 for concurrent access to and use of Appleworks in Mt.Lion:

As Linc has said, those purchases are tied to your 'work' Apple ID.
If you could proivde more information, maybe we can help.
So you don't have access to the email address associated with the Apple ID, but do you have your AppleID assword? Are you unable to update the purchases in the App Store? Did you forget the AppleID password at some point, and now you can not recover it? If so, have you tried using the security questions to recover your account?
Is this account tied to purchasing/billing for your former employeer, or is it a personal account that you happened to use your work email for?

Apple ID is a little more flexible now in terms of renaming and using alternate email addresses, that is, if you can access the account. -
Dear apple, I am really dissapointed with you. Around January 2013, my iPhone 4s 16GB White has hardware issues, which was the Wi-Fi grey out. The wifi grey out means that I can't access the wifi on/off button, and also it has no connection. I have put up with it for months, until june 7 when I decided it has been long enough, and I got a replacement. I told the genius bar what happened, and I already did the so called "steps" that apple reccommended on the site, which was reset network settings, restore iPhone. The genius bar gave me a replacement phone, so I was expecting that the problem would be over, but it isn't. It seems that it's iOS 6.1.3 which is the case of most public complaints on apple iPhone products. Not even 3 weeks after I got the phone replaced, it is doing it again, so I suspect I'm just going to get a replacement again? Unfortunately I only have until 5th of july 2013 until my 1 year warranty is up. After that, any issue I have, I have to purchase apple care. People are expecting this problem to be fixed but I don't see it being solved any time soon. This is horrible and really low, because I have been a good customer, when I talk to the people at the genius bar, I show the utmost respect I can to them for the work they put into their job, but somewhere there is a problem where something has gone wrong. Because of that, people that only have a one year warranty (which i received because I purchased my apple iPhone at an Optus outlet, once that one year warranty is up, I have to pay for a problem that isn't even my fault? That isn't how it should work, you should be fixing this problem so people can be happy customers and leave happy. Obviously you don't all know how to do your jobs, because if you did, we wouldn't have this problem. I would like a replacement phone, ONCE AGAIN. I have an iMac OS 10.9.5 - Every time I turn on my system I get the message that it can not access icloud and to fix it using iCloud preferences. I do not want to access or use iCloud, how do I get the message to discontinue?

Verifying that any iCloud account that may be signed in is signed out should resolve this error.
On your Mac, open iCloud preferences, then click Sign Out.

The ! sign before the song means that the actual song is no longer on your computer and/or iTunes library.

Just upgraded to Mac Lion... can't access Appleworks6...get this message... "You can't open the application AppleWorks 6 because PowerPC applications are no longer supported".... I've got dozens of documents saved that I can't access?!!!!!
Rosetta is not included Lion, if you are not familiar with Rosetta it was an application included in Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard that allowed PPC based apps to run on Intel based machines. That was over 5 years ago so it's time to move on. As has been suggested you can read those documents in Pages which is available on the App Store. Pages is part of the iWorks suite that replaced AppleWorks years ago. Currently iWorks is on iWorks 09 , and includes Pages, Numbers and Keynote. You can find each on the App store.

I am unable to re-install itunes. The installer starts ok and then indicates that it can not access a network !! I have tried to uninstall but get the sme error message. I have used 3rd party software to uninstal but still have no joy. My pc is running Vista.

99.9% of the time, the cause of this issue is the fact the phone was jailbroken/hacked to unlock it for use on networks other than the network the phone was originally locked to. Apple maintains a database of officially unlocked iPhones, and when Apple's servers detect phones such as yours, activation stops & you get the message you got.
So, either get a sim card from the carrier your phone was originally locked to, or get it officially unlocked, if you want to activate it. Because it appears that it was not officially unlocked. -

It depends on what books you're referring to. All books from the iTunes Store are downloaded to your iPad and except for any special features the book may contain that requires an Internet connection will be readable without such a connection.
If you're talking about books from some other source, we'd need to know the source before we could offer opinions.

My start up disk Macintosh HD is full on my McAir OSX 10.9.4 memory 4GB. I need to clear the disk so that I can update it with the new software IOS 10.9.5 requiring 2.05GB. Need guidance on how to clear space.
For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article. If the Storage display seems to be inaccurate, try rebuilding the Spotlight index.
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then restart the computer. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation—not the mythical 10%, 15%, or any other percentage. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Ask for instructions in that case.

You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) or GrandPerspective (GP) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one. Note that ODS only works with OS X 10.8 or later. If you're running an older OS version, use GP.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS or GP can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install the app you downloaded in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the corresponding line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator. Ignore any other messages that appear in the Terminal window.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with the app, quit it and also quit Terminal. -

If the Snow Leopard install disk came with or otherwise is compatible with your iMac, you can boot from it, but that won't allow you to run software (other than the utilities that are part of the installation set). You will have to install Snow Leopard, either on a partition on the iMac's internal hard drive or on an external drive, before you will be able to run applications.
