Application failed to initialize properly?

I've installed 8.2 for Windows Vista 64 bit. Installation seems to go ok but when I go to the desktop icon to bring up the itunes application I get an application error message stating the itunes application failed to initialize properly (0xc1500004). Can't figure out how to resolve this? Anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks

This AccessibleMarshal.dll error seems to have a long history --- posts from 2006 with early Firefox versions had issues similar to yours.
There is a link and an excerpt below which could be worth checking in your case,
particularly since it mentions the problem would occur on a clean install (no previous instance of Firefox on the system and Windows before Vista --??)
    Have a look here:

"Somehow we missed shipping the Win32 Redistributables from Visual C++. We didn't detect this as it would only show on Windows versions less than Vista, and you'd probably only see it if you had a completely clean install, and you didn't have the dlls installed elsewhere (as it appears my XP system does)."
"If you're seeing this then you want to copy the following files from a Firefox installation:
    Microsoft.VC80.CRT.manifest
    msvcm80.dll
    msvcp80.dll
    msvcr80.dll
The patch I'm attaching updates our configuration files to specify the Win32 redistribution directory, which will then cause the build system to include the files in the build."

  • During Palm reinstallation, when reboots get errors, "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142)" and "DeviceMonitor MFC Application has stopped working."

I'm trying to reinstall the Palm software because synchronization has been failing for the past two months.  It get to the point of synchronizing the calendar and fails with the message that there are too many events.  Hence, nothing in the process after that synchronizes.  I've tried reinstalling the Palm s/w to no avail.  Now I'm trying to uninstall and reinstall the Palm s/w only to be greeted with another error message when the system restarts (as part of the installation process).  The error is, "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142).  Click OK to terminate the application."  When I choose OK, I get the error, "DeviceMonitor MFC Application has stopped working."  Windows does not notify me of a solution.  Any ideas/solutions would be greatly appreciated!

My pals p.c. (vista) was working on firefox until last week and now fails to open the web browser page.
A message appears "The application failed to initialize properly (Oxc 000007b)"
This may have been caused by a microsoft up-date although this is not certain as they are not clear on this or very good with such matters having only recently started using a pc.
Do I need to uninstall and re-install firefox for them?

I have received your e-mail indicating that an answer (103287) is available but cannot find it from the link provided

  • LR2:  1st Launch of Demo - The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150004)

    Hello all,
I've never used Lightroom nor had any need to really justify buying it when PS meets my needs, but thought I'd at least take a look at Lightroom 2 to see what it's like. Well, upon installing the trial to my Vista 64 system, the subsequent launch of LR2 only gave the subject "application failed to initialize properly (0xC150004)" error. I see no posts regarding this particular error, and Google searches only turn up that this error could be due to a wealth of things, inclusive of the usual talk regarding viruses or spyware.
Notwithstanding that I've got quite a number of applications installed, I keep my system relatively clean and do not suspect anything awry. Many speak ill of Norton products, of which I use Norton Internet Security 2008 and have had nothing negative to say about it...no issues from it with reagard to PS CS2 or CS3, so I'd expect none with LR2.
Oh...and as far as any departure from the default installation goes, I installed LR2 to a separate partition where most of my applications get installed, rather than to the system partition. Of course, that should be transparent and not matter.
I'm largely looking to see if there are any known obvious LR2 problems that might cause such an error to arise. If not, I'll just uninstall and forget about it. It's not worth spending too much time to resolve.
I have installed LR2 under the Windows XP/SP2 boot configuration of my system, using a separate installation path on my programs partition than used for the 64-bit version, and all looks to be working fine there. So, this may be more of an LR2 issue with Vista 64.
    Thanks,
    Daryl

    Hi Ian,
Thanks, but no luck with that idea either. I know 32- and 64-bit O/Ses are different, but I largely expected LR2 to work with both my installations under Norton Internet Security 2008 since all else does. A leap of assumption perhaps, but at least this exercise suggests the problem is unrelated to Norton software. I disabled all services and startup processes for both NIS2008 and Norton Ghost 14, via msconfig, even uninstalled and reinstalled LR2 under those conditions, and the problem persists.
One additional thing I did observe, as I decided to monitor Task Manager while the LR2 installer ran, is that even after the installation completed and I left the box selected to launch LR2, the MS installer 'msiexec' did not close out. So, I rebooted and with no msiexece active in the list afterwards, again tried launching LR2 with no success.
The only thing I can glean from this is a similar issue I had with Raxco PerfectDisk 2008, which launched 3 instances of msiexec during its installation, and never closed those. If I killed all related processes and attempted to launch PerfectDisk, it would freeze up at the splash screen with those 3 msiexec processes active again. I sent in some detailed notes to Raxco support for some feedback and if they come up with anything to offer that resolves the issue, perhaps it will be related to why the LR2 installer also doesn't close, or can't close, the msiexec. Perhaps a problem unique to my Vista 64 installation in spite of all else working. As with LR2, PerfectDisk works fine under XP32.

    Daryl

You mentioned that you want to reset your notebook. Is that correct?
Are you able get into Windows? If so, you should be able to make the recovery disks if you have not already done so.
If you need the recovery disks, this link should get the process of ordering them started.
Pre-built systems typically do not have an actual Windows disk available for them anymore. If you want an actual Windows Vista disk, then you will need to purchase a copy from a retailer. Otherwise, the recovery disks will reinstall the original software including Vista.

hey, until yesterday my itunes was running fine now whenever i try to open it it comes up with -

    then it doesnt open..
anyone know how to fix this, ive bin searching the net and cant find any answers
    thanks, tim

Try and use Microsoft's Cleanup Utility and then reinstall Quicktime/iTunes:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Make sure it's a new and fresh download from:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
See if any of these help:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302538
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302386
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302775
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
If not mentioned in the articles, make a new user account in Windows XP and see if iTunes opens. That will tell you if there's something funky in your main account (if the new user works), or if you have a system-wide issue.

  • The application failed to initialize properly 0xc0000142.

I installed Labview and TestStand 2012 SP1 on my computer. At the beginning it seemed everything was good, but after a couple of hours I tried to launch another application from TestStand and I got this message: The application failed to initialize properly 0xc0000142.
Now each time that I want to launch TestStand the message come up.
How can I fix this issue?
    My OS is Windows XP
I uninstall and reinstall everything many times.

    Grey88 -
    1) What TestStand application are you running when you get this failure; sequence editor or a user interface?
1a) If a LabVIEW user interface, what version of LabVIEW are you using?
1b) If the sequence editor, does any portion of the UI show before the error occurs?
1c) Do other applications from TestStand work OK?
    2) Just wanted to explicitly confirm that you rebooted the system after changing the ini file to test the issue?
    3) For the boot.ini change, does the problem still occur if you change the value to 2048 (2GB)? I suggest to try this because applications that are not Large Address Aware (LAA) in general should not be using more than 2GB of memory. The sequence editor does not support LAA until TestStand 2013 so the OS should restrict it from accessing > 2GB. On the other hand LabVIEW started enabling LAA on its executables in an earlier version.

    Thanks for Wyck's help.
    Hi Saurabh Bhadoria,
I think Wyck's suggestion would be helpful, I doubt that your windows server 2003 doesn't have the enough requirements.
In addition, as far as I know, one important issue is that the .NET 4.5 doesn't support the Windows Server 2003.
    Reference:
    https://visualstudio.uservoice.com/forums/121579-visual-studio/suggestions/2723735-make-net-4-5-work-on-any-os-that-supports-4-0
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/4aeb7755-7cf5-44bf-b83b-b928e082ac33/install-visual-studio-agents-2012-on-server-2003-sp2?forum=vssetup
So even if it is the C# app, if you build it with .NET 4.5, I still doubt that it would have a limitation for it since the .NET 4.5 doesn't work in windows server 2003.
So if possible, please compile your app with old .NET version, and make sure that the old .NET version could install in this Environment.

The majority of problems out there on the discussion boards are caused by viruses or other system corruption — sometimes self-inflicted by the user (i.e. - people who turn off necessary Windows services) — or out of date drivers. You may want to consider this if your PC falls into one of these categories.

Prefs: C:\Documents and Settings\Mike\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop CS4. Anyway, I hope you are aware that your computer is an unsupported hardware, from processor to graphics card. I'm quite surprised that PS CS4 actualyl works on your system. The one thing of note in your specs is the virus scanner. Is it perhaps set a tad too agressively? This could have ill effects when PS writes the prefs on program exit. At any rate, try to delete the prefs (copy it to a backup location before, just in case...) . Have a look at whether your virus scanner has an eye on it or not. If yes, create an exclusion rule for the directory to prevent future damage. If the crash persists, then check your system event viewer and provide the info you find there. This might tell us a bit more about possibly damaged/ missing DLLs or incomaptible drivers that may be causing the crash. Memory addresses do usually not mean anything, unless you know the app inside out, i.e you are its developer, and know the actual state vs. the suppossed state. That's why nobody around here will be able to make sense of your initial post. I believe, though, the one you posted is merely the initial "app has initialized" thing, which even to a developer doesn't tell much.

  • The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000034).

WE have upgraded today to the newest version of iTunes (7.6.0) and QuickTime (7.4.0) and QuickTime will not run. I get a dialog with the message: The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000034). Please click OK to terminate the application. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I have tried the standalone QuickTime install, I have tried clearing my Temp directory, I have tried unchecking the Compatibility checkbox in the QuickTime properties. I still have the problem and cannot run QuickTime or iTunes. I'm running on Windows XP service pack 2. Thanks for any help. Is ther a way to get help from Apple for software issues? Contact numbers?

Same issue for me with Windows XP SP2 on a 3 year old DELL PC. Uninstalled / reinstalled twice and still no luck. I get 2 messages. First .... QuickTime failed to initialize Error # 0 .... Please make sure QuickTime is properly installed on this computer. When I select OK to exit this panel I get a second alert. This one tells me that the plugin has performed an illegal operation and it is strongly advised to restart Firefox. Believe me I'm not kidding and I don't know what to think at this point !!!
