Application Installation In Zones

I have to bring up 6 zones/containers on a V880 under Solaris 10 GA. I will be installing DB2 and Oracle 9i and 10g.
Anyone have any gotya's got me?
Getting the containers up has been fine using 10b72. I am now ready to install 10GA.
I have not yet tried to install any apps. I am thinking of installing the apps on linked files system. This way all files systems remain in the global zone.
Any ideas would be helpful

It sounds to me like InstallAnywhere is not setting the unix permissions
correctly on the file mentioned. I don't think you will be able to fix
this manually, as presumably InstallAnywhere is creating (unzipping)
that file and then immediately trying to run it without the correct
permissions, so there is no opportunity for you to intervene before
it fails.
If you have't already done so, I'd try to find an InstallAnywhere support
forum. Sorry!

  • When creating an application installer in LV, what run-time engine or driver must be installed to install the VISA interactive control?

I've created an application installer using LabVIEW's application builder and use it to install NI MAX.  However, after running the installer, the VISA interactive control is disabled in NI MAX.
    The installer installs the following NI components:  NI LabVIEW Run-Time 2014 SP-1(64-bit), NI LabWindows/CVI Shared Run-Time Engine 2013 SP2, NI Measurement & Automation Explorer 14.5, NI-488.2 Application Development Support (includes run-time), NI-VISA Configuration Support 14.0.1, NI-VISA Runtime 14.0.1, NI-VISA Server 14.0, NI Systems Configuration Runtime 14.5.0, vision run-time, dc-power run-time.
If I download and run the 488.2 installer, the VISA interactive control is enabled in NI MAX.  But, the installer created with the application builder does not seem to install the necessary components.
What needs to be added to the installer to enable  the VISA interactive control (VISAIC)?
    Thanks.

Sorry for the confusion with the forum post that Jon sent you. I did some research on our internal database and I found out the component will not be installed by any of the components added from the additional installers section on the configuration of the installer. As you have already found out you need to install the full installer in order to enable this feature.
I know that this might be an inconvenient for you because you wanted to have one installer to run. On this case may I suggest using the NI Batch Installer Builder.
The NI Batch Installer Builder allows building installers that contain National Instruments software from several products. That way you can create an installer for you application in LabVIEW (and not include the drivers in the additional installer section), then use NI Batch Installer Builder to include the installer for your application and the full version of the drivers that you mentioned.
    Here is the download link:
    http://www.ni.com/download/ni-batch-installer-builder-14.5/5193/en/
And in here you can find instructions on how to get started with it:

  • Software Installation on Zones

    Hello Folks,
I read a bit about package management in the zone documentation and was wondering what is the expected manner of installing applications in a Zone environment. How does it differ between whole root and sparse root zones ? Are applications always installed on Global zones and migrated to the sparse and whole root zones ? Also can we install applications in individual zones ? Appreciate you thoughts

    ...it depends....
there are packages which only install in global zones, some only in non global, some in both, more later on. Whole root zones usually create no problem, they have their file system to install all the stuff.
I got a few problems with packages in sparse root zones when they need write access to files which are inherited from the global zone. We make some packages ourselfes, and we install all of them in /usr/local. This packages have their log files in /usr/local/var, their configuration in /usr/local/etc. This fails for sparse root zones as the whole /usr is inherited.
    I used 2 workarounds
    - make softlinks in the global zone, e.g /usr/local/etc -> /opt/local/etc
    - change the inherited directoryies so /usr/local/etc and /usr/local/var are no longer inherited, but /usr/lib and so on
Both workarounds are ugly, we use whole root zones wherever possible
There is an article on the developers site: http://developers.sun.com/solaris/articles/application_in_zone.html#installconfig describing how flageas and and the -g option of pkgadd control the installation of packages in zones

  • Error Installing Adobe Air from Story Desktop Application Installer

This is truly driving me nuts already.
Every time I try to install the Desktop Application from the Story website, it says I must install Adobe Air. So I click Install, it shows the progress bar to 100%, then errors out with a window. The window header reads "Adobe AIR Installer" and the main section of the window reads "Couldn't write the application to the hard disk. Please verify the hard disk is available and try again." - There is a Retry and Cancel. Retry does it all again with same results.
No, I had no previous versions of Adobe Air. So I tried installing AIR direct from the Adobe website, and it installs fine. So I go back to the Story webpage and try installing the Desktop Application again and the exact same set of events as described above happens. I uninstalled the AIR install, tried again, same result.
I had Production Premium CS3 previously, and installed Production Premium CS5 UPGRADE. All the programs in the suite work like a charm!
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with 208 Gig free on my C drive, as well as over 500 gig free spread out over two other drives. 8 Gig memory, and two Nvidia Qadro FX 3500 video cards (If that matters at all). Full admin rights to the PC, not limited in any way.
A quick Google search shows plenty of other people having the same problem,  just no known fixes I've found!
    HELP!!!

  • Adobe Air application installation using the bundled runtime installer

    Hello.
We plan to develop application for different platforms with Adobe Air and testing installing Air applications with bundled runtime installer on different platforms. It's ok with Windows and Mac OS, but we got troubles with "silent" installation on Ubuntu OS 9.10.
I tried to install Adobe Air application with bundled runtime, like in this document in part "Silent installation":
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/redist/WS485a42d56cd19641-70d979a8124ef20a34b-8000.html
    using command-line:
    "sudo ./MyInstaller -silent simple-air-air-application-1.0-SNAPSHOT.air"
and installation fails. Installation log looks like this:
[setup:2306][INFO] Runtime Installer begin with version 2.6.0.19140 on Linux x86
    [setup:2306][INFO] Commandline is: -silent simple-air-air-1.0-SNAPSHOT.air
    [setup:2306][INFO] No installed runtime detected
[setup:2306][INFO] Invoking Application Installer for combined install

[setup:2306][ERR] Subprocess app installer failed (-1)
[setup:2306][ERR] Runtime Installer end with exit code 7
P.S. We tried do the same on Linux Mint 10. Everything's fine, application getting installed well.

Thanks for the reply and solution MrSykes.
I uninstalled adobe AIR and ran a file and registry cleaner to delete any left over files and installs.
Then installed the v.15 Adobe AIR beta as recommended.
The cleaners I used (ccleaner & jv16 power tools) did find some temporary install files and remnants of the Video Alchemy install.
Tried the install again and still no installation window displays.
I'm running Windows 7 on my PC and even changed the installation file compatibility to Windows XP service pack 2 to no avail.
Funny that it installed fine on my notebook with Adobe AIR latest version running Windows 7.
I'm watching task manager as I'm attempting the install and videoalchemy.exe has some cpu usage then drops to zero activity.
Then Adobe AIR application Installer starts up then cycles to zero cpu activity.
I'm stumped on this one :-(
Thanks again for investing the time on my behalf.
    Regards

  • Adobe AIR Application Installer.exe

On my win xp pro sp3 machine from all the Adobe stuff
    following software installed only:
    - acrobat reader
    - flash player
    - shockwave player
The Secunia scan tool noticed me recently I had old version
    of flash player.
It is not right, some days ago just upgraded to 9.0.151.0.
Why I am using the 9.x one see my other thread in the adobe
    flash player forum.
In-depth analysis has shown that the old one is really
    present on my station:
Adobe AIR Application Installer.exe is present on this
machine and it keeps the old and
vulnerable version of adobe flash player.
    What for ???????
I didn't ever install the air application installer on my
    own.
It must be one of other three applications I'm using
    intentionally.
What of the three application named above has installed AIR ?
    And what for ?
Why is nobody upgrading the vulnerable flash version attached
    to AIR ?
How can I deinstall it ?

  • Adobe Air Application Installer.exe Documentation

    Hello All,
i am having severe problems retrieving the documentation for "Adobe Air Application Installer.exe"
We have applied as Publisher for Air Apps here:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/air/runtime_distribution1.html
    and filled out the form
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=air_distribution2
After that we were hoping to receive documentation about seamless install of air applications, but we are waiting right now ...
So, time is running out, and i need the documentation of the "Adobe Air App Installer.exe"
So far i have managed to silently install an air app:
    '$1 -silent -programMenu -location "$INSTDIR" "$TEMP\AirApp.air"' $0
Where $1 is the "Adobe Air Installer.exe" retrieved from the registry
$INSTDIR is the installation target path
$TEMP is a temporary folder, containing the to install Air Application
the above command works fine for clean and empty systems with no prior versions of the application installed.
what i now miss are the return code meanings, ranging from 0..9 where i only know that 0 means success !
And i would like to have a documentation about the
    -update
    and the
    -uninstall
parameters for seamless installation/deinstallation of a whole air app with data

    hi there,
i got the documentation also, dunno why they make it so hard
    to get it
    thank you very much !

  • N-series Application Installer

    Hey mates,
I have problem with the application installer. I installed it from the accompanied CD. All the installation process is fine! Then the PC suit opened up, but when I click on application installer, the error message came up: "Failed to load application components. Please reinstall the application"
I removed the application, using Control Panel and installed it again but it didn't solve the problem. I tried a couple of times but it hasn't worked yet.
Does anyone have the same problem or know how to fix it? I would appreciate your help!
    Cheers,
    -Tammy

You could use nokia PC suite like the above poster suggested or you could try downloading the Nseries PC suite from here:
    http://www.nseries.com/index.html#l=support,downloads,nseriespcsuite,download
Most the difference is in interface and the way the certain components work such as photos for one, you can download and install both (i have both installed) they seem fine.

  • Must NI-DAQmx Configuration Support be included in Application Installer?

    Hello.
I am using LabVIEW 2012 sp1 with Application Builder and am building an application installer.  I have included the LabVIEW run time engine, DAQmx run time engine, and device driver for the USB-6009 that I am using.  If I'm including the device driver and am only using this one device (i.e., not changing devices programatically), do I still need to include NI-DAQmx Configuration Support under the "Additional Installers" page of the Installer Properties Dialog Box?  The description says that this "Contains NI-DAQmx drivers and support for configuring NI hardware via the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX)", so I'm thinking I don't need it on the target machines on which my application will be installed if I alread have the hardware identified and driver installed.
I'm trying to scale back the file size of the resulting application installer.
    Thanks,
    Paul

As long as your device will be the default device name (Dev1) in every instance the software will use, you should be fine.  If you use a specific configuration other than the default that you set up in MAX, you will want to add MAX to the installer as well as the MAX configuration for that device.

  • Re: Question re use of Toshiba Application Installer

    Hey all.
My model came with Toshiba Software Modem installed, but I've noticed in the Toshiba Application Installer there are a couple of other modem drivers that are a little newer. I installed one of them (Conexant) then uninstalled the Toshiba Software Modem and reboted. When it started, it reinstalled the Toshiba Software Modem by default.
So my question is, is it possible to install and use anything other than my original modem? I'm not even sure if it installed the Conexant. It looked like it did but it doesn't appear in the list of installed programs.
As I said, the Toshiba Software Modem was the original, the other two are Conexant Software Modem Driver and Motorola Modem Driver. I don't know why those other two are even in there if they can't be used with my system.
    L305-S5919; Vista 32 bit
    Thanks!

I read in an article about software modems (Winmodem) that said a newer driver can make a difference.
"Winmodems, unlike hardware modems, have complicated driver software. Driver upgrades can thus make a significant difference to Winmodem performance. If you use a Winmodem, check the manufacturer's Web site to see if you can get a later driver."
I have dial-up and I know it's not going to make a huge difference but I thought it wouldn't hurt to try something different, if possible. The three modem files that are available for my system are listed at the Toshiba website, but the same versions are also available in my Toshiba Application Installer.
I don't really understand software modems. I've got Toshiba Software Modem by Agere, but I don't really know if that's the modem or the driver or both. Do the Toshiba L models even have modem hardware? And I don't get why those other two drivers are in my Toshiba Application Installer and are listed at the website as compatible with my system if they're useless.
Maybe the Agere is the modem and the other two are drivers for it?
In C:\Program Files\Toshiba\TOSAPINS\COMPS1, there are text files that accompany each modem driver that say, "These drivers are required for your machine to be able to fully utilize the modem."

OS has limitations on the processes per user. DB has limitations on resources. You can find a guide in Metalink: 550859.1
According to the error message, it appears to be related to network TCP/IP shortage. At least, that is a place to start. Maybe look at network log or OS system log for possible cause.

  • Application installer issues

Totally bamboozled here. My installer project that has been working for a couple of years, and only stopped when I accidently saved the vis as 2011 from 2010 is driving me crazy! I think I have identified what the issue is but I cant resolve it. When I take the application exe to application installer you can see the structure within the “project files view” that should be recreated within “destination view” for some reason its started adding the entire path to my sub dirs from my works server to this view , so when it installs to my c drive, my program cant fetch certain files because they are buried in superfluous folders!
As an example, the wecel template is contained within the reports folder and should look like this
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Company PVT\Reports\Company PVT Report.xlt
What it actually installs like is
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Company PVT\Reports\J\Projects\75) Fluid Sampling Analysis - Phase 2\15) Source Code\builds\PVT\Company PVT\Reports\Company PVT Report.xlt
Why has it suddenly stated doing this? In that same source files view, I tried using the left arrow to remove the three folders from destination view and then tried pushing them back in by highlighting them in project files view, but the right arrow is greyed out. It wont let me shift the entire folder only the files contain within.
    Any help much appreciated.

What it really means is that your main VI has loaded the sub VI's and dependencies from a folder previously used for building the application.
I would suggest Save As entire project to different location and change the folder structure with the project explorer and create new executable.
    Best regards,
    Vijay.
