Application server read
Hi Gurus,
I have requirement to read the flie names from application server and upload to Ztable then accoring to time stamp it has to excute the infopackage ( for this routine in infopackge external data tab).
I find some Function module "SUBST_GET_FILE_LIST" from this I am getting all the data except the date and time these are the important fileds for my requirement. Can any one put some light on this.
It will be great helpful for me.

2. If the another file get's generated in the application server with same file name then the data in old file get's over written with the new data. You are not required to delete the file. -

There is no other option for uploading the data from the application server to the internal table without using OPEN DATASET and CLOSE DATASET. Even if you find the FM internal logic in FM uses these keywords to read the data from Application server. -

Why don't you use a ShellScript for FTPing your file.
You can execute it via ABAP and it will probably does the same
but you don't have to know how big the file is.
can think of a few:
1) Check the F1 help on READ DATASET. It has the addition LENGTH which you should be able to use for this purpose.
2) Call function SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE for command LIST_DB2DUMP. Parse the returned table. You may need to explicitly pass 'UNIX' or 'Windows NT' to the OPERATINGSYSTEM parameter.
3) CALL 'SYSTEM' ID 'COMMAND' FIELD 'ls -l' ID 'TAB' FIELD result-sys.
4) Disect AL11 and make use of the same C-calls

If u r sending the data form application server
read the data in applicaion server file in ur prg internal table and calculate as above and size of file in ftp_r3_to_server fun module

I am trying to send the internal table data to application server which should be stored in XML format.
I am using the following code:

Use this FM SAP_CONVERT_TO_XML_FORMAT to convert the data to XML format and then upload the convert data from the internal table to Application server. -
Create a Document with an original file stored on application server
Hello,
I start with document managment system : i am able to create new document (CV01N) manually, add a local file and check-in this file.
Now we need to store file which are stored on the SAP Application Server.
Firstly, in the GUI of transaction CV01N, i don't know how to browse file on application server. All files i can't attach as original, are files i can access from my computer.
Is it possible to access also on application server files ?
Moreover, i have to define function module which have to
- Create a document (DMS)
- Attach an orginial file which is stored on application server
- Check-in the file
This function module will be called from a web application
I define this kind of function and run it correctly with a local file (stored on my computer) : i call BAPI "BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2" and "BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHECKIN2"
But i don't how to do with a file stored on application server. I see also note 504692 and try a program like ZZUZTEST_TEST_CHECKIN which use FM CVAPI_DOC_CHECKIN but it return an error Error uploading E:\usr\sap\TD1\DVEBMGS00\data\FACTURE.txt" (this path and file exist on application server and is really the file i want to checkin)
Please could you confirm what i search, is possible or not.
If possible, could help me with some explanations and guidelines and perhaps a sample ?

You have to set PF_HOSTNAME with your name of your AS and gives the path to the file on the server.
You wrote

But beware: if you have more thän one AS you have to fix one AS for upload or you have to find the servers name of the file. A better way can be to share one folder by each AS.
You also have to decide between HTTP or FTP.

Application Server 8.2 licensing
Hi,
Can anyone pls help with this: Is the Applicaiton Server 8.2 free for redistribution? In the case of developing and deploying it for commercial use etc. If not free, how much is the licensing cost and limitations? Can't find the detailed info from the sun web, only found 8.1 version of licensing.

EGDefinitely check with [email protected] as Kedar suggested if you intent to redistribute. The inital product license specifically does not cover redistribution and you do need to contact Sun to get additional licensing in that case (it might very well be free, but Sun wants to know if you are redistributing Application Server).

Regarding the uploading the pdf file to the application server

iam getting this error while uploading the pdf file to the applicatioin server.
"There was an error while trying to parse an image"
to convert smartform into PDF file we ll use convert_otf FM.
If see that FM data ll be stored in it_tline structure ok.
For sending to application server we ll use
OPEN DATASET p_arch for OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT IGNORING CONVERSION ERRORS.
LOOP AT it_tline.
TRANSFER it_tline to p_arch.
ENDLOOP.
CLOSE DATASET p_arch.

For getting data from internal table we ll use

To run samples on Sun Application server
I had installed Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 9.0 and then installed the WSDP. WSDP recognized the application server and I believe integrated them.
However, when I wanted to run the examples on the http://localhost:8080/JWSDP.html page:
SAAJ Simple Sample
SAAJ book Sample
SAAJ translator Sample
I got Page not found.
previously I was running tomcat with WSDP and I was able to run those examples. Could that be that prevented me from running it on the Sun Application server. I uninstalled the WSDP before i installed the Sun Application server.
what do I need to do to be able to run them?
