Applications will not launch and install disk will not mount

Just recently my applications have taken a turn to not wanting to launch. These include anything from Dashboard to the Microsoft Office Suite. It also includes anything that is downloaded form the internet, like the World of Warcraft download client. Long story short, the errors that I constantly get are
System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.Framework/versions/A/Frameworks/Co reGraphics.Framework/versions/A/CoreGraphics
I figured that with it being a system library issue and the Repair Disk Permissions has been completely useless, that a complete restore would be in order. And I was wrong. For some reason my Genuine 13-inch MacBook Pro Mac OS X Install DVD will not mount. Meaning I out the DVD in said drive and it will attempt to mount but will eventually give up and eject itself. I can load any other cd/DVD into my drive and it will mount without a problem.
Everything is up to date software wise.

  • Applications won't launch after Installing Safari 3

I recently tried to download and install Safari 3 on Mac OS 10.3.9. After installation, Safari would not launch and neither will Mail. I have since gone back to Safari 1.3.2 but the Mail application still will not launch.
I would greatly appreciate any help! Thanks so much!

    Hi gelatian1
your error message is actually very simple - but due to the long file paths, seems complex...
a file named webcore, located in
    /System/Library/Frameworks/WebKit.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/WebCore.framew ork/Versions/A/
is telling your mac to find something in a file named javascriptcore which is located in
    /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaScriptCore.framework/Versions/A/
and it can't find what it's looking for....because one or other of the files ( never known it to be both ) is corrupted somehow. ( note, this might not be the only problem you have, but it's the one your error refers to... )
Both these files are contained in the safari 3.1 update package.
    soooo, you can either...
1: try downloading the diskimage of Safari 3.1 update for leopard & running it again, hoping that fixes things.
2: try running softwareupdate from the Terminal ( I believe that this bypasses the need for the files which stop you from running Software update normally ) . softwareupdate -l then enter will give a list of the updates that Apple think you need....... softwareupdate -i -a installs all updates that Apple think you need.
3: identify which of the files I first mentioned is at fault & perhaps use Pacifist to extract it from the update package & then place the damaged file manually. hoping that it's the only one.... I don't know if Pacifist works with Leopard update packages... I usually use something called UnPkg, which doesn't recognise the safari 3.1 Leopard package I downloaded , edit - I tried Pacifist & that wouldn't work either for me
Think I'd try 1: first; keeping the dmg in case you need it again.
This applies for you, running Leopard - anyone with 10.3.9 should ignore the above.

  • Lost applications due to "Erase and Install" option in Leopard Installation

I bought a new Macbook this morning at my local Apple Store, and they gave me a Macbook running Tiger as well as a Leopard Installation Disk. I wanted my Macbook to be just like new, so I called Apple Support and they told me to do an "Erase and Install." After I followed their directions and was finally running Leopard, I noticed that I lost programs: Garageband, iPhoto, and iMovie to name a few.
How can I get these applications back?
And it is absolutely ridiculous if I have to buy iLife '08 because I had these programs already on my computer with Mac OSX Tiger before Apple told me to "Erase and Install."
p.s. I received 2 other disks that seem to be of no help...2 Tiger Installation disks.

Ok if you purchased a new macbook reload the original os x tiger restore cd's you have to hold the c key at startup to boot from it format and reinstall mac os x tiger then once os x tiger is installed update to the latest version of tiger first then connect a external hard drive and use carbon copy cloner to backup your hard drive the reason for this is when you upgrade from tiger to leopard the os has a high tendency to remove the idvd and garageband content so none of your ilife apps will function after the upgrade this is why you need the external with it the first time you install mac os x leopard it will ask do you want to transfer your settings from another partition on this mac select this option and select the external and everything will be fine

  • Lost Logic Pro Serial Number and Install Disks, can they be replaced?

I accidentally threw out my install disks and manuals (including the booklet with the serial number) for Logic Pro 8! I believe have registered this product. I think I can simply download the installation files but I will need the SN#. Is my serial number linked to my apple account? Can I find this online somewhere?
I also use pro tools and there is a special section on the website just for this type of thing. I am hoping there is the same kind of thing with apple but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
    Thanks in advance for your ultimate awesomeness in helping resolve this issue for me and the rest of the idiots :}

Have you searched this forum? The question comes up every three or four days.
You can call up Apple and provide them with valid proof of purchase, and they will provide you with a new code.
They'll probably send you disks as well, for a fee.
I severely doubt that an official download is an option, as the whole package is somewhere around 45GB.

  • Application quits on launch and BBM half opens when launched

BBm half opens on launch and apps quits after launching. Also my ipad seems to have slowed down, for example FB and other apps takes time to open most times

    Hi Kn1936zr,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature and scope of the issues you are describing. If you are having issues with multiple apps, as well as general slowness issues with your iPad, you may want to first try resetting your device:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
If you are still having issues after the reset, you may want to make sure you have a current backup of your data in iTunes, then try restoring your iPad to factory settings and testing it in that default condition to see if the issues persist before restoring the apps or your data. You may find the following article helpful:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

  • OS 10.4 install disk freezes on mounting

OS 10.4 install disk freezes. I had a problem with AppleWorks 6.2.9 not launching. It had been working in my 2-week old 20" iMac Intel Duo updated to 10.4.7. (Restarting solved that problem.) But I wanted to run disk repair from the install disk. After restarted from the disk (holding down C), it was mostly frozen, language selectons, etc. in first window. I was able to launch disk utilities from the menu bar. When I selected HD the selection only showed as a dim gray bar, not blue, and clicking repair was inoperative. This was pretty much the story for the other options: nothing worked including restart, start-up disk and cancel. I could launch the windows but not use or close them. I could not shut down with the power button. In the end the only way I could shut down was to pull the plug. The install disk looks fine. I tried the hardware test feature(restarting holding down D) and a small crude computer and chip display came up with a language choice menu, no menu bar at the top, all choices inoperable. I was able to shut down this time with the power button. I tried for disk repair again, restarting again holding down C, and this time there was not even a menu bar display at the top, just the language choice, inoperable. Power button inoperable. Pull plug to shut down. Permissions repair worked in disk utility in HD/Applications/Utilities.
There have been a number of quirks and problems in the two weeks I've had the computer. There were Mail and Calculator problems, fixed by deleting com.apple.LaunchServices-0140.csstore. At times aliases on the launch bar will launch the Applications folder rather than the application itself. There was a momentary problem with Drag Thing (4.5.2) launching and showing for a time only in dim outline (otherwise works fine).
Imac Intel Duo 20   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2-weeks old

Actually the problem was not the mouse but how I was handling it. This was discovered after another lengthy work out with Apple Support. (TG for Support!)In the install and test modes the right sensor is not active once the disc is mounted. The left front of the mouse is active. The sides in the front are referred to as buttons. . . . An earlier article may be of interest, ID: 302516, October 07, 2005: "iMac G5 (iSight): Mighty Mouse right button doesn't work when installing Mac OS X." I would say this is solved then, except I have a niggling worry why I seem to be the only one experiencing the problem? Be that as it may, it is solved for my computer: when install is booted only the left "button" is active; the right will produce erratic or no result.

  • OS X 10.5 Leopard install disk won't mount

I'm running OS X 10.4.11 on an iMac G4 and want to upgrade to OS X 10.5. I bought a retail 10.5.1 installation DVD set but I can't get the disks to mount on my iMac G4. I've tried loading it in with OS 10.4 running and I've tried starting up from the 10.5 disk holding down the C key. I've also tried starting up holding down the option key. Nothing seems to work. The disk does not show up in disk utility. The disks are apparently ok because I can mount them on my intel iMac as a test.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

Some Macs are not able to boot from USB drives.
    These options come to mind:
1 - Make a bootable USB stick - very slow and painful - several tutorials on the web
2 - Make a reduced (single layer DVD) - not too difficult - I have done it several times - let me know if you decide to do this - I can give you a list of items to remove.
3 - Partition your G4 hard drive, boot into installer on one volume and install onto the other volume - very fast and easy - useful in the future - if G4 has important data this will need backing up to another disk first as partitioning normally erases the whole disk.
    For 3:
1 - If necessary backup all data, and perhaps whole disk, to another disk with eg Carbon Copy Cloner
2 - Use Tiger install CD/DVD to partition G4 disk - can be equal volumes or perhaps make one about 10 GB for installer.
3 - Install Tiger onto one volume - the larger one if they are different
4 - Boot into Tiger volume
5 - Use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone Leopard installer onto the other volume
6 - Boot into installer and use it to replace Tiger with Leopard
In future you can use the installer volume in the same way that you would use an installer DVD for repair or reinstalls etc.
    Good luck.

  • Tech tools and install disk utility disk work...

but any other disk I put in my optical is getting spit out?
Sorry if this has been discussed, I did not see this problem.
I don't know if it's because I am holding down a boot off key? No other disk will work, so the drive is working if it recognizes the repair disk, why wouldn't it recognize others.
I have appleCare, but do not want to visit the Genius... (excuse me I had to clear my throat), bar - why can't I just send it in anymore? If indeed this is necessary. I am lost with out the use of this!
    help anyone! thanks anyone!

Here are some search results to get you started:
    http://discussions.apple.com/search.jspa?search=Go&q=discspitout
What do yo mean by "boot off key?" I've not heard that term before. When you insert discs into the optical drive you should not hold down any keys.
You can send the computer to Apple, but you must first call AppleCare, talk to a technician and get a case number and authorization to return the computer for repair. However, it would probably take less time if you took it to the local Apple Store/retailer for service.

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.
    Delete and re-add the accounts.

  • Applications Won't Launch after installing Quicktime Update

sorry...i put this in the wrong forum
    Message was edited by: schleppklang

I have now added back all the items which were in my original Logins List except for "Spark Daemon" (a shortcuts manager), which I no longer have on my system. Leopard appears to be running fine now. Perhaps populating the list again was all that was needed.

  • Issues with BootCamp and mounted windows 8 install disk

I've been trying to install Windows 8 from a mounted Windows 8 System Builder install disk. When I mount the ISO and try to use bootcamp to install windows 8 the bootcamp application will not recognize the install disk I have mounted. Any issues? I've also attempted to install the disk on USB with no luck. The reason I need the mounted ISO is because my DVD drive is busted. I created ISO on a friends macbook pro by using disk utility. I have the dmg file, cdr file, and iso file but have had no luck with any of them. Can anyone help? I'd really like not to have to have to buy an external DVD drive.

Google is your friend. Easy? Probably not but it appears doable. Proceed at your own risk.

  • Disk Utility application won't launch

After repairing some errors which appeared on my main drive and which I have now repaired Disk Utility.app no longer launches and I can no longer mount disk images. Can anybody suggest a fix? Everything else in the system seems OK. Running on 10.4.10

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Look for the com. Apple Disk Utility plist file and delete it from the Library/Preference folders. If that doesn't work one of the cache cleaning applications may have corrupted your cache or the Disk Utility application needs to be reloaded. You can extract that file with http://www.charlessoft.com/ 's Pacifist from the installer disk for 10.4 and apply the relevant 10.4.10 combo update:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10410comboupdateppc.html
If it is the G4 533 that is having trouble. If you have an Intel Mac which is having problems, use this update:

  • Multiple Applications failing to launch in Mac OSX Mavericks

    Hi there,
I recently updated my Mac Pro to Mac OSX Mavericks (OS X 10.9.2), and since that time, I have experienced multiple applications in my Adobe CC Subscription failing to launch. As a first step, I attempted to uninstall the applications so that I could reinstall them and see if that fixed the problem. However, when I go to uninstall the applications, I get the same message (crash report) that I get when I attempt to launch them, so I'm unable to uninstall the applications.
I'm not sure what the protocal is, or where I can send the crash reports to get a better idea of what is going wrong. Below I've listed a series of applications that are failing to launch, then the applications that are launching and running perfectly fine, along with some information about the computer I'm running on to see if the hardware might be out-of-date and adding to the problem.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer and I look forward to hearing from anyone that could provide some insight!
