Applying more than one effect to an image

Hey,
I'm really enjoying using Aperture to bring some life to some photos, but I have a question.
How can I apply different effects to the same part of the picture without having to re-select that part again?
Say I want to select a part of a picture and make it black and white, while the rest of the image stays in colour. Ok, so I select what I need and do this using the B/W effect brush - all good - but now I want to sharpen that exact same selection. Currently, I have to apply a new effect and re-select the part of the image again, but this can bring problems if it's a tricky part to select or has a lot of detail.
Any ideas?

You will want a layers-based image editing app like GIMP, Pixelmator, Photoshop, etc.
IMO all digital photogs need such an app in addition to an images-management app like Aperture.

CS4: How to Apply Effect Parameters to More Than One Effect Instances At Once?

I have approximately 20 still images added to a sequence and I've concatenated each adjacent pair of images using a soft blend. Now I want to change the duration of all these 19 soft blend instances. How can I do this without having to select each and every of them changing its duration one after the other?

So... I can set only the duration parameter for several transitions at once and only to new transitions? What if I would change my mind and have a couple of Soft Blends start with 10 % instead of 0 %? Would I have to edit them all each separately? Or is there an option to apply any parameter to all selected transitions where it applies to?
You see what I'm up to? I already have 20 Soft Blends applied to my timeline. Now I want to change their lengths. But I could also want to change the numbers of bands on all (or many) Band Wipes I'd have already insterted.

Can I apply more than one keyword to images from the Control Bar?

I swear this used to work. I select multiple images in a project. I apply a keyword to the selection by clicking a keyword button on the Control Bar. It gets applied to all the selected images. I click another keyword - it gets applied to only the first selected image.

Michael, thanks for that quick response! Yes, that was it. Of course I don't know why I would have selected that option. It would seem to make sense to put this option in the Preferences instead of Edit - it would make it less easy to change accidentally.

How I can apply more than one DBI reports at a time?

I have many DBI reports (and maybe dashboards in future) in one database and I want to transfer them to second database. Of course I can export every report to individual zip file and than import this file to second database. But how I can import all my reports at a time? I tried to simply merge files in archives. But EBS imported only one report from merged zip file. Then I downloaded some patches (for example, E-Business Intelligence Family Pack 11i.BIS_PF.F) and explored their structure. I copied xml files with report description (RPerPersonsLayoutsource.xml and RPerPersonsDocsource.xml) from zip archive to <patch directory>\bis\mds, set versions in file-version attribute to 120.6 and wrote driver file. Than I tried to apply this patch. There was no errors (as I think) but report didn't appear in database.
So, can I do something to transfer many DBI reports at a time?

Not real sure what your asking but if you want to view two apps side by side, make sure they're not in full screen mode and drag the edge of a window to resize. If you want to browser windows, On the menubar Safari > File > New Window. Or the shortcut, CMD N
Then resize to view both.

No, there is not (unfortunately).
I believe this is actually an OS limitation, since the color labels are shared with Finder.

More than one video effect for same clip?

Is it possible to apply more than one video effect to the same clip? I know this could be done in previous versions of iMovie, but I can't seem to figure out how to accomplish this task in '09!!

In general, no, you cannot do two video effects at the same time.
However, black and white is a special case, because you can achieve this using Video Adjustments.
You can select Aged Film and then adjust to Black and White in Video Adjustments.
Try setting the Saturation slider all the way to the left (0%)
Then, move the Contrast slider to the right until it is around 50%.

Not able to add more than one gift for the GWP promotion.

I have created a GWP promotion. This promotion is adding gift after adding corresponding product to cart. But, when I try to add the product second time, it's not adding the gift. I am using ATG 10.1.1 with CRS. In ATG merchandising guide, it is mentioned as GWP promotion will add gift only once.
How can we add gift second time?

The GWP templates create a "when" type of promotion, which means the rule is applied once. That matches the behavior you're seeing. If you want the rule to be applied more than once, you need a "for next" type of promotion. You've got two basic choices for how to do that.
If you've got one GWP promotion for which you want the "for next" behavior, you can create the promotion using the Advanced Condition and Offer option in the UI.
If you anticipate creating many "for next" GWP promotions, then it would probably be worthwhile to create one or more new templates. You can start with a copy of an existing GWP template and change the pmdlrule property. To see the effect of "for next' on a pmdl rule, either create an Advanced promotion or look at one of the non-GWP templates that get applied more than one, such as bogo. Details about creating your own templates appear in the "Adding New Promotions Templates" section of the "Understanding Promotions" chapter in the Commerce Programming Guide.
Before you put "for next" style GWP promotions into production, please be aware that some bugs have been discovered related to the manual addition and removal of gift items. A hot fix is available from Oracle Support.

Is there a way to reset more than one image at a time?

I have a folder with 1100 images taken on four different cameras. I have a new default setting for one of the cameras that I would like to apply to most but not all of the images in this folder. I could remove the offending images and reimport, I could filter by serial number and sync a preset. It would be easier, however, if could just select the images I want and hit the reset tool and reset all the images selected. But it only seems to reset the dominant image. Any way to get the reset button to work on more than one image at a time?

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
In the case of this theoretical lower third to be applied to more than one title at a time
a. Is there text in the lower third besides a graphic of some kind?
b. Are all the titles to which this lower third is to be applied all together on the Timeline or scattered?
If no text in lower third and titles all together, then, with text titles on Video 1 and lower third on Video 2, drag out the lower third to cover the length of the text titles on Video 1.
I do not find "lower third" title files to be in the same category as certain effects where the Copy and "Paste Attributes" or "Paste Effects and Adjustments" lend themselves so well.
Let us see what others have to say about all this. I will continue to experiment with what you seek and how you would prefer to get there. I am not optimistic but I will try.

Never tried with bullets but nested styles might work... I think you can chain two or more nested style, and then you can define first nested style to effect only first character, second nested style to next character and so on....

Can you have more than one plan at a time? i.e.: After Effects CC Single App Photography

I can't afford to pay for the whole CC package, but I really miss Photoshop in my workflow. In all the promotional stuff, the single app plan is offered to those who only want "one or two" apps, but I'm guessing the two only applies to PS+LR
Paying an extra £8/mo for Photoshop would be worthwhile, but It isn't immediately clear whether or not this is doable.
If anyone has tried this, or knows an answer I'd greatly appreciate your help!

Error - Can't open more than one image in CS3

My Photoshop CS3 was working fine until all of a sudden it no longer lets me open more than one image at a time without crashing. Anyone else have this problem? How do I fix it?

There may be two issues you have to check:
1) The " scratch disk" feature in photoshop(usually gets full). Go to preferences - performance. Also check how much RAM PS is using.
2) Printer Communication: sometimes Photoshop is unable to communicate with the default printer(may be unstable drivers, out of date etc). Network computers also make some issues

Yes. Just copy-paste the placeholder that the theme has, multiple times.

Can one add more than one photo layer to a draw image?

I cannot seem to find a way to add more than one photo or photo layer to a Draw image, but the Draw page on Adobe seems to imply multiple photos can be added. How might I accomplish this? Thanks for your time.

Unfortunately, Draw is currently limited to one photo layer, and only one photo within that layer.

I recently upgraded to PS-CS4 from CS3 and notice that I can only view one image on my screen. Is there a way to view more than one image on the screen at the same time? I cannot seem to find a way to change this feature.
