Apps missing from Library sidebar after 10.1 update

Installed 10.1 yesterday and ever since the apps selection from the library is missing.
I experienced problems installing 10.1 yesterday, would not run via the update selection from within iTunes.
Instead, I manually downloaded and ran each component separately.
That was when I first noticed the problem.
I have completely uninstalled iTunes and all related programs.
Re-installed iTunes 10.1, no change.
I have reverted to a previous library file, no change.
All the apps still exist in the iTunes/MobileApplication folder.
Any ideas?

Sorted. In Edit/Preferences, General tab, Sources, the "Apps" checkbox was unselected. Lots of options there now - is this new?
Not sure why it got unselected...

Files missing from library after archive and install

any help you could give would be much appreciated.
I can't seem to verify my permissions on HD. I have run disk utility both from finder and from my OSX startup disk and consistently get the error message "Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue." I then reinstalled the operating system all together making sure to archive and install as well as archive previous network and preference settings. This means I am running 10.3.4 at the moment (and I can't verify any of the software updates at the moment). After reinstalling I still cannot verify my permissions, so now I am trying to back up all my files so that I can reinstall the OSX again, erase everything, and start from scratch. But I'm running into some very strange problems while doing this. select files are missing from ~/library. there is no Safari file, for example. I tried looking in HD/previous systems/library where my library files were saved before I reinstalled the operating system but there is no such folder in there either. this means all of my bookmarks are gone. additionally, under library/preferences (in both the old and new library folders) there is no file named com.apple.itunes.plst. so all of my itunes playlists are gone as well. these are the only missing files I have found thus far and i can't explain why they selectively would not have been saved after the archive and install. Everything else seems to be intact. Any ideas?

my HD has a capacity of 8.85 GB available. When I reinstalled panther I had little more than 3 GB available (I deleted a bunch of unneeded things since then)
Thanks for this update. What is the total formatted capacity of your HDD? I ask because I suspected that you might be cutting it pretty close. The rule of thumb is that you should have 10-15% of your total capacity available as free space. My personal rule is 15%-20%. This allows for more efficient perfomrance of OS X.
I am in the process of backing up everything on my seagate combo USB 2.0/firewire 200 GB external (I am using the firewire cord)
Having an up-to-date backup is one of the primary rules, often observed more in the breach than not. Since you have an HDD that supports Firewire, I suggest that you make a bootable clone of your entire HDD using SuperDuper. You can then use this backup as an emergency boot drive. However, it must be Firewire, as PPC Macs don't boot from USB devices.
I also have heard that it is advisable to reinstall the OS "every now and again" and I hadn't done this for at least two years. was I ill-advised?
Most experienced Mac users never re-install, except under dire circumstances. Since installing my new HDD in this computer I have never re-installed. Re-installation is the utlimate intrusive measure, and it exposes one to all kinds of issues, from lost data, to flawed installaton, to installations that fail midstream. Re-installation is not an effective maintenace procedure. Here are some helpful links in terms of maintenance:

I'm going to restart now and try and verify my permissions again using the procedure on the above link. I'll let you know what happens.
Instead of verifying permissions, just go ahead and Repair Disk Permissions. Verifying permissions does nothing, and wastes your time, as it is difficult to tell whether you need to repair, and you have to repair anyway.

and now you can recuperate your deleted pictures from a folder or after 30 days they will be deleted.

Apps missing from iPhone 5s

There was discussion today regarding a blank screen when accessing the App Store. The App Store seems to be working fine now, but there are some apps missing from my iPhone (ie. Passbook, Netflix, Hangouts, etc.). I have tried powering off and rebooting my phone, but to no avail, the apps are still missing. I have also looked into downloading the apps again from the App Store. The App Store box shows that I can "open" the app from there, but when I tap on that icon, it does nothing. Is this a case where I have to re-sync my phone to iTunes, and hopefully the apps will show up again?

If you're not a developer then you really should not have upgraded.
I'm unsure how you can fix this as you have already done a back-up on iOS 7 and apple don't support firmware downgrades.

Basically, your iMessage settings have become slightly off due to the update.
Go into Settings -> Messages -> Send/Receive.
You should see your phone number and your email address. Given your description, I would imagine that only your Email Address is checked. If you CAN (it's probably greyed out), check your phone number off, and it should work.
Now, operating under the assumption that you can't just turn the phone number back on:
1.) Go into Settings -> Messages, and turn iMessage off.
2.) Go into Settings -> iTunes and Appstore, and tap on your Apple ID at the top, and tap 'Sign Out'
3.) Power your phone off completely (Press and hold the sleep/wake key, then swipe to power off).
4.) Power your phone back on.
5.) Go back to Settings -> iTunes and Appstore, and sign back into your Apple ID.
6.) Go back to Settings -> Messages, and turn iMessage back to ON. Wait for iMessage service to activate.
7.) Go into Send/Receive again, and verify that your phone number is now checked off.
8.) Send a text message to a friend with an iPhone to verify that the issue is resolved.
NOTE: If you do not know your Apple ID/Password, reset it at http://iforgot.apple.com.

Look on all you screens and inside all your folders. If you swipe to the right and type Passbook into spotlight search, it will show the name of the folder to the right of Passbook if it is inside a folder.

Missing App store from my ipad after ios5 installation

I seem to be missing my app store icon from my ipdad after upgrade to Ios5, how do I get it back. I'm unable to dowload apps directly to my iPad

Reboot and see if it comes back.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Swipe from screen to screen and look for it.
If you can find it any other way - you can reset the home screen layout and it will appear on the home screen. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout. But if you do this - you will return the home screen to the exact way that it looked out of the box.

Workflow status is missing from the List after make some change in workflow

Hi,
We have this strange situation where the workflow status is missing from List views. Here is the situation:
Now if I check the All List view of this list, I can see these workflows that shows the status of the workflow - say "In progress", "Completed" etc.
When i make some workflow modification and after i save and publish. The workflow status in List will missing.
This issue happening is intermittent.
Why does this happen?
Any workaround/findings for the above scenario are much appreciated.

Hi JWei,
The workflow status column gets created when you first create the workflow and its first instance runs. The columns gets removed (and disappears from the view) if you delete the workflow or remove all instances of the wf on the list.
Please check whether you created some lookup columns in this list. If yes, please increase the lookup threshold for that web application in Central Administration.
Please create a new view which only contains the Title column and Workflow Status column, modify the workflow, check the workflow status column in the new view, compare the result.
Please create a new list, create a workflow, and test again, compare the result.

Reinserting Preview/Images missing from Library and Project

After ingesting my images from CF reader into a project, I started working on them. For some reason after working on them for awhile, I started noticing that previews were missing from the project. I looked in the Library and they were not there either. However, when I looked in to the project folder (via the Aperture "folder" in Finder), the images and associated Aperture information files were all there in their respective folders.
I'm not sure how I lost/deleted so many images from my folder and Library (I may have accidently deleted a stack, but when I searched the number of images missing I know I could not have accidently deleted that many that way if I did). But since the files are still on my hard drive in their respective folders, in the right location, is there a way to bring them back into Aperture?

bump...if anyone can tell me that would be great. I know it sounds like a dumb question, but for the life of me I cannot do any command - import, etc. - that can get these files that reside in the actual folder to show up in Aperture's Library or its original project.

Songs on my iphone are missing from library, how do I load them back in?

I noticed when I was about to back up my iphone that some of the songs on my phone are missing from my library. They appear not to be on my Windows based computer either. Can I "push" or create a new library for the songs on my iphone?

Apps missing from iTunes. How to recover?

Suddenly, about 2/3 of my apps are missing from iTunes. Basically anything I bought in the last 16 months or so - the apps I currently actually use! I searched the iTunes folder on my laptop and the apps are not there either. Just very old ones. I tried to re-download purchases that I had already made and I get a warning that I will have to pay for the apps. I'm besides myself frustrated right now. What am I missing in the instructions to re-download something already purchased? I dont want to re-purchase all the apps again. Help!
Is there a way to pull the apps from my phone and put them back into iTunes?

I can confirm that right-clicking on the iPhone or iPod and choosing "Transfer Purchases" will successfully download the installed applications back to the iTunes library.
One thing to be aware - if you click on the iPhone and then "Apps", you'll see that "Sync Apps" is UNCHECKED. DO NOT CHECK IT and resync without doing a transfer purchases first or else it will also wipe the apps from your device!

Apps missing from use cellular data list in iphone 6

So I got the new iPhone 6...and half of my apps are missing from the "use cellular data" list...those that are missing won't load when I try to open them...they just flash and shut down. I've tried turning off wifi...I've tried resetting the phone...nothing works. What's the point of the phone if you can't use the freaking apps when you aren't connected to wifi?? Anyone else having this problem?? Anyone know how to fix it??

No-one knows, beyond it showing that you've either some software/hardware issues, or just that things go wrong occasionally, & backups are useful to have.

follow R C -R's suggestion to get the install DVD's - and meantime, do take WZZZ's advice to reinstall the combo, it should provide a working copy of App Store, although you ought to run Software Update afterwards, and install this security update: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1670 - even if Software Update doesn't mention it, since that also alters App Store.
