Arabic in reports6i on web

Hi
I am testing reports6i on web for arabic applications. I tried following as advised by users in this forum, even then Arabic characters are getting displayed as symbols.
1. Tried Changing fonts.
2. Made default language as Arabic on middle tier m/c (win2000).
I am running forms6i & Reports6i servers on win 2000 server with patch5 and clients PC having oper system Win'98. I am trying to generate reports in PDF format.
When I generate report in HTML format then its fine. But users are asking for PDF format. Please help to solve this problem or tell if there is any other way to run reports and open it in clinets browser.
Thanks in Advance

  • How to run Reports6 on Web?

    Hi,
    I have been sucessfull in Web enabling the Developer 6 Forms using OAS4071, Developer Server and JInitiator 1.1.7.27.
    I would like to know how to run Reports 6 on the Web. I have installed as mentioned in the On-Line doc but when I try to start the Reports Server from NT Services it given some error.
    I would like to know how to actually run Reports from Forms using RUN_PRODUCT built-in by passing parameters from Forms to Reports.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

    You don't run the report with Run_Product to display it on the user's web browser, you run a report web page that runs the report and displays the output. Do this with Web.Show_Document (see the online help for syntax; the parameters are part of the URL in the standard way).

  • Javascript is not working on some sites, and some sites also display in what looks like arabic. whats going on? how do i fix the javascript problem? javascript IS functioning in other browsers.

    Site displays fine in IE but in Mozilla, displays in text only, with the message: "Billboard requires a JavaScript enabled browser to get the full experience." Getting similar messages on other sites. Also, some sites are displaying in part English, part what looks like Arabic to me. Whats that about? Havent played with any language settings- in the browser OR on my computer. The affected sites listed are both displaying in text only. The login page for Mozilla website is one of the sites i mentioned displaying in part (Arabic?)

    Reload a web page and bypass the cache with:
    * Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
    * Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    * Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)
    See [[Keyboard shortcuts]] and [[Mouse shortcuts]]
    * "Remove the Cookies" from sites that cause problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:

  • Problem in displaying Arabic Character in Paper Layout

    Hi
    I am facing problem while displaying arabic characters.
    In Web layout i am able to get it by changing the character set to ISO-8259-6.
    I had changed the NLS parameters in registry as suggested in the help. But still i am unable to get. Please can anyone send the brief steps to fix this.
    Thanks in Advance
    Ranganath

    Ranganath,
    That means subsetting is not happening. If subsetting had been successful, you would have seen in "Font properties", the type of font as Type 3 and name of the font as Fx, where x could be 0,1 etc.
    The things I suspect are: 1) your report definition has some other font associated which is not Arial.
    2) You are not specifying correctly the subset information in uifont.ali.
    Open your report in builder and check again, what font you are using to display the data. Open the report in paper layout and click on the data field and check in the font box, the font name that is displayed.
    In your uifont.ali, make sure that under [PDF:Subset] section, you specify (if you are using Arial font)
    Arial = "arial.ttf".
    If you have any other entry regarding Arial in other sections of uifont.ali, comment those for the time being by putting # before those.
    Let me know the font properties after these steps.

  • Lotus Notes Portlets in Arabic

    I am encountring a problem with Lotus Notes Portlets, I want them to dispaly in arabic.
    Note: they are running very good in English
    I used the propertyResourceBundle way, and it indeed retreives the strings from the correct file -LotusBundle_ar.properties in my case , but as long as the strings are in English. If I changed the translated strings to arabic strings, it returns me a rubbish in the Portlet headers (e.g. From , Subject , Date Received , ToDo , ..). I tried to set the charSet in the getWriter() method and in PortletRenderRequest.setCharacterEncoding() to UTF-8 and WINDOWS-1256 charsets, in the InboxRenderer class and in the LotusProvider class but nothing worked it always returned me rubbish words, I also set the NLS_LANG of the ias machine which is a windows NT server machine to ARABIC_UNITED ARAB EMIRATES.AR8MSWIN1256, the charSet of the Portal db is not unicode but the NLS_LANG env. variable of the db machine is set to ARABIC_UNITED ARAB EMIRATES.UTF8 , but still nothing worked.
    Notes: Arabic is installed on my portal (ver 3.0.9.8) and using the SetLanguage portlet i can switch between english and arabic in a seamless way, also the Database plsql Services Portlet sample is running well and it switches between Eng and Ar also -I have seeded the arabic strings to make it dispaly arabic.
    The Notes Arabic cient is installed, and the Notes web access also runs now in arabic (it shows me the Inbox, Calendar, Contacts , ToDo documents all in arabic).
    So where is the problem with web portlets, where exactly to set the charSet, I still have a doubt about the portal db charSet which is as I mentioned not unicode, it is American, but how the portal itself is running in arabic and the plsql portlets also while using this American charSet? Pls Oracle people do not let us lost that way. I'll try to use the ListResourceBundle way as maybe the encoding used when saving the .properties file is not correct, and then give u a feed back.
    Pls all colleagues if any one can help, and give some guiding points, he will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Christopher for your reply ..
    The Good news is that the problem is now solved when using the ListResourseBundle way, I think that my doubt was correct; the encoding used when saving the .properties files is some how Latin (e.g. US-ASCII for example), so that when retreiving the translated strings and writting them on the reponse object using WINDOWS-1256 charSet, some characters get lost, and hence I got the rubbish strings. The problem now is that you cannot provide more than one resourseBundle for one portlet,I need to provide Bilingual interface, so I have two resourseBundle classes for each portlet (e.g. InboxBundle_ar.class , InboxBundle_en.class). I Couldn't provide more than one resourse tage for each portlet in provider.xml, otherwise it gives an ERROR OCCURED! message in the rendered portlet body. So how to resolve this ?
    The second problem, wchich is bigger, is that the dynamic strings returned from Lotus server are showing as rubbish strings (e.g the Subject itself of the message, Subject of an appointment,the Last name of a user in a Contacts list,..)althoug these strings are showing well in Arabic from the Lotus web access for the same logged in user. I think that the methods doc.getItemValueString(), doc.getColumnValues().get() are returning strings assuming Latin charSet, I tried to play the following code for the rendered message subject :
    byte[] bytes = doc.getItemValueString("Subject").getBytes("US-ASCII");
    String subj = new String(bytes,"WINDOWS-1256");
    out.println("<td><FONT SIZE=2><a href=\""+readMsgURL+"\" target=\"_new\">"+subj+"</a></FONT></td>");
    But unfortunately it didn't work, even when using UTF-8 and UTF-16 in the getBytes statment and when initializing the subj string. note: the out object is assuming the WINDOWS-1256 charset, I forced it to this charset by writting the following code in the renderShow method in the InboxRenderer class :
    pr.setCharacterEncoding("WINDOWS-1256");
    PrintWriter out = pr.getWriter("text/html","WINDOWS-1256");
    where pr is the portletRenderRequest.
    So what to do ??? If you can help me Christopher or pass the topic to any one of the people who wrote the Lotus Notes Portlets, to tell me how to overcome these two problems.
    Note: It is an urgent requirement to arabize these Lotus Notes Portlets.
    Thanks Christopher,
    Thanks all

    I'm using Firefox web browser v5 and i can wright and reed Arabic text at all web sights. but when I'm trying to read or right Arabic text in Facebook i have a probable that every letter is separated and when i open Facebook with other browsers like chrome using same desktop the Arabic text appear without any problems.

    I am doing a newsletter which I have an arabic translation of in a word document. When I copy and paste into Illustrator it changes the font (it says times new roman in the word doc, but the illustrator version comes out times new roman but looks completely different ) and the right to left orientation to left to right. How do I fix this?
    Make sure your document language is properly set to Arabic in Word. Just typing Arabic and the document actuall being Arabic are two different things. Mismatches affect Unicode ranges, resulting in the wrong characters being copied to the clipboard. In AI, check the substitution options on the text palette and glyph palette as well as your global glyph protection pref.

  • Arabic characters from Oracle Stored Procedure

    Hi,
    I am having a problem displaying arabic fields from Oracle Stored Procedure. When viewing the arabic field on the web page, i get the following:
    ÙƒØكد Øاكد غبد افلبٍ افاربش
    I have checked with our Oracle DBAs and we seem to be using the AR8ISO8859P6 (ISO-8859-6). I tried to set the return string encoding to UTF-16 and ISO-8859-6 but still no use.
    What should be done to display it?

    Hi
    I have answers for some of your questions just try these things it worked for me
    Regarding Icons
    Use Icons under Oracle_home/forms60/java/oracle/forms/handler/icons/
    These icons are good on web forms I didn't face any problems with these icons.
    Fonts:
    Times New Roman is not that bad .
    I don't have any alignment problems but I have another problm here I am giving an example:
    Problem : When Iam trying to signon to the system by mistake if I type the wrong passowrd it gives an error message like "Username or Passord not Correct" after that if I enter the correct password also it wont respond .Now Ihave to close the whole application and I have to reopen it.Same thing with all the forms . Iam using "Raise form_trigger_failure" exception along with the error message.
    It was working fine in Client Server environment.

  • Using Reports6i to Publish Reports On The Web As PDF Format - Arabic Data

    Hi everybody.
    I am using Reports6i to create some reports and publish them on the web as PDF format for security reason. The problem is that the opened document displays Arabic letters in encrypted way, I tried to use Acrobat Reader version 5 but it is still not working. Then I try to publish reports as HTML document, In this way, the arabic letters look fine but any vertical lines I designed in the reports did not show up, furthermore, the user can edit HTML document, change the data, then print the report, so using HTML as an output is not secure.
    Any suggestions?

    Hello ,
    You can try out the following
    1. Click on the Report name and bring up the property palette to show all of the properties for the whole report.
    2. Under Report Escapes->Before Form Value, change form method from POST to GET .
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Make sure that you have the right version of JRE in the system. Please try this steps in one client machine
    1. Uninstall all the version f JREs from a client computer
    2. launch Web Analysis Studio from that client computer
    3. It will prompt you to download & install the compatible JRE from the Web Analysis server into your client computer
    4. Install the JRE
    Hope this helps
