Are all SATA issues fixed?
I was one of the early adopters, back in Aug/Sept. and in order to get Windows running right, I had to create a slipstreamed XP install disk (to fix the SATA issues)
Today, I have a friend coming over who is a recent switcher (whoo-hoo! Won another one!). She has a MacBook Pro and wants me to install Windows on it using Boot Camp.
Do I need to create a slipstreamed CD for her too? Or have the issues been fixed with Boot Camp so that we can just use her XP install disk?

Yep, I just did this recently and measured the SATA speed. It's fixed, so you are all set to plow ahead.
If she's not gaming or needs multi-processor speed, Parallels is worth trying. It's pretty great to fire up Windows in OSX for lightweight use.

Are ATI graphics issues fixed in Leopard 10.5.1 -- ?
I haven't downloaded 10.5.1 yet and installed it on either of my machines. Can anyone with an ATI card (preferably a 9600, X1900 or X800 XT) confirm that the graphics issues we've identified in previous threads, have been fixed?
Please do tell.The latest software update Apple Imac Graphics Firmware Update 1.0 has deemed my new Mid 2007 2.8 Ghz 24" iMac does not need updating. Normally I would not worry too much about this, as I have in fairness only suffered a few freezes which required a restart by switching the iMac off. However uncertainty is not good when you're entrusting a lot of important data to your computer.
I have definitely had the occasional freeze as described by others; admittedly this was mainly using 10.4.10. I also had the screen corruption in the area of cover flow within iTunes.
It seems more stable since upgrading to Leopard.
What concerns me is not knowing exactly what the latest firmware is correcting and why this isn't necessary for all new Mid 2007 iMacs?
I'm sure it would be comforting for all new iMac owners to know they can be certain how and why their new iMac is definitely not affected?
Does anyone know why only some particular new iMacs are deemed in need of this firmware update?
Please, please Apple issue a statement to clear up all the confusion about this issue, this will stop your loyal supporters from worrying unnecessarily?

Are battery drain issues fixed in 6.1.3?
I realize it only came out a few hours ago, but can anyone confirm if the Exchange bug that wasn't completely fixed in 6.1.2, and/or the iCloud Document Sync over cellular were fixed in 6.1.3?

I too am an Apple Developer and have been messing with these devices for a while. I can attest that 6.0.1 was the most stable and efficient iOS v6 I used. I have a 4S and a 5, both ran 6.0.1 until the "exchange bug" was fixed. I am sorry I upgraded my 5, because I see significant battery drain issues with or without Exchange configured. I have restored from DFU, Reset All settings, turned on and off all settings, etc (every trick on the forums) I test and tune for a living and clients complain to me and ask for a fix, so I do the best I can. My 4S with the SAME configuration as my 5, lasts FOREVER! When a phone works perfect, and one "upgrades" software and sees problems, 100% is related to the software, not hardware. Unless the software is not compatible with the hardware, then I would make the safe bet and say the software is the culprit, def an Apple realted issue IMO.
The reason for Apple to change the software on devices is because it changes how the hardware functions. Without software, our hardware would be nothing more than paper weights. Working with software for years I know its hard to get it perfect for millions of users. Apple has their work cut out for them. I don't expect perfection, but it would be nice to build on a good foundation. I thought they finally turned the corner with 6.0.1 but 6.1.2 is a painful reality for people whom truly rely on their mobile devices. Have faith, because 6.1.3 from a restore from a "new phone" has been working smoother for myself..so far. -
FF 20 and Flas 11 = 100% CPU - Opera, IE8, Chrome are all OK. FIX IT!
I am absolutely sick and tired of hearing excuses about why FF is not to be blamed when it chews 100% CPU with the Adobe Flash plugin.
I have done all the dancing around I am willing to endure. I have even downgraded to FF18 and FF19. No friggin setting works. Nothing. IT IS IN THE CODE!! FIX IT!!!
It is simply NOT acceptable that ANY other browser in the known universe works OK with Flash BUT FF.
It is time that devs acknowledge this and do something about it instead of scratching their butts!
PLEASE do not get me more links to troubleshooting pages, either from Windows, Adobe or FF.
I'll repeat: IT IS IN THE FRIGGIN CODE. FIX IT!!!Also IE uses a Active version of Flash and Chrome comes with its own Flash though it can use Adobe version if pepper version is disabled.
Adobe has been making a buggy Plugin for Windows ever since they came out with the Flash 11.3 version. -

Have all the bugs been fixed in the iPhoto 11. I have read about the editing problems. I don't want to download otherwise. I have the 8.2 iPhoto software now.
Nope nor have "all of the bugs been fixed" in iPhoto2, 5, 6, '08 or '09 -- or any in other piece of software - software has bugs

When do Boot Camp updates come? Mac Pro SATA issue driving me NUTS
I just got a Mac Pro, FINALLY, and after a long wait, I've had to suffer through hours of shoving Windows XP on my Mac Pro with Boot Camp 1.1. After successfully getting it all put on there, the stupid SATA issues are driving me nuts. I tried the slipstreaming fix TWICE, and I have no patience to try it a third.
Basically, I know 1.1 just came out, but do we know when the next update will come that will supposedly fix the SATA issues? How often do updates come for this so we can have a basic window of when the update will come?but to expect Apple to support Windows SATA driver issue IMHO is not a fair expectation of Apple
I disagree… in this case at least. Apple has stated that Boot Camp is a feature of Mac OSX 10.5 Leopard and to not have it work correctly, or to its potential, on their flagship product, the Mac Pro, as it were intended then this makes it unacceptable. For Apple's customers and for Apple themselves.
Apple IS ultimately responsible for having this work out of the box and with standard off the shelf product, which includes the minimum Windoews product (Microsoft Windows XP SP2 at this time).
Bear in mind that Boot Camp is still in beta so demanding a fix is a little difficult and the the part that I feel is unfair to Apple. While I have stated previously (in another thread) that Apple will fix this issue… they can't not, it appears the reality may be a little more difficult. It is possible that upon the release of Leopard the minimum system requirements on the Mac Pro will be Windows Vista.
What I find a little odd though is that there are no SATA issues on the rest of the Mac product line. -

Software update issues - security update, itunes, java update 14 - all these are not happening for me - it starts the download process and then reverts to an error message.
A previous response suggested I try Combo Update to iron out some glitches - but this I can't download either as once downloaded it tells me ' the following disk images couldn't be opened' reason - illegal seek.
In addition today, my Time Machine has been unable to do its hourly back-up stating 'Volumes/....sparse.bundle' could not be accessed.
I am curious to know if all these issues are related and if something sinister has occurred.
Everything else is working perfectly!

I'm having a huge issue with itunes locating my missing files..and it's too many for me to locate 1 by 1..It says I'm missing over 3,000 songs and They are all in my music folder..What can I do to fix this issue? I've looked at all the tutorials on youtube and none of it works. I recently got a new computer and I Back-Up all my music and itunes playlist and I import it on my new computer with the new itunes and I go to play a few songs, it says I'm missing them I locate a few but it's still like 3,000 missing and again they are all on the computer and in one folder..Please Help !

I also just tried dragging my folder of music int he playlist and it duplicated all of my songs? My playlist was at 5k now it's at 10k becuz of 3 duplicates of songs. Is there a way to delete multiple duplicate files? -
Is anyone else having issues with "skipping" while the songs are playing?! It is very aggravating to us... and we've had it going on for several months now. Any ideas at all how to fix it?

We have our family sharing one itunes account. we have 3 iphones, 2 macbook airs, 2 ipads and 1 mac. I am not sure how we even got started on the icloud but somehow we did and everything is a mess. The ipads are showing the text messages, the contacts are all combined, the apps that my duaghter downloads are appearing on all devices. how do we fix this so contacts are not shared, messages are not shared and apps are not automatically synced to all devises?
You have two different issues going on. You are getting each other's messages because you are sharing the Same Apple ID for iMessage. This can be corrected by going to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive on add the devices and doing one of the following:
Either uncheck the email address shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at" on all of your devices; or
If you want to continue to receive iMessages at this email address on one of your devices, on all of the other ones tap the Apple ID at the top, sign out, then sign back in using a different Apple ID (so all devices will be using a different Apple ID for iMessage). Note: you can continue to share an Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and App stores. It does not need to be the same as the ID you are using for iMessage, FaceTime and other services.
The second issue is that you are sharing the same iCloud account on your devices. When you do this any data you sync with the shared iCloud account such as contacts is merged and will appear on all devices connected to the account. To fix this you both need to have separate iCloud accounts (you can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and app stores).
First decide which device(s) will be keeping the current iCloud account. On the one(s) that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in photo stream that in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else that you want to keep on the device(s), save these to the camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this device, not from iCloud. The device(s) that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.) When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On [iDevice]. Next, set up a new iCloud account using a separate Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom). Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to the new account. Repeat this process for all the devices that you need to migrate to new accounts.
When finished, to un-merge the data in your accounts you will have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting the other person's contacts from your account, and vice versa). -
First Issue: All of my purchased apps (games) and apps such as Weight Watchers, Facebook, WeatherBug, Sports and Pinterest, Notes, Nook, etc. are all locked up. They simply flash, then nothing! How can I fix this to make them work again? If I have to delete the purchased apps, will they still be in iTunes, or will I have to re-purchase them?
Second Issue: When I synced to my desktop (Windows XP) All my photos loaded onto my iPad2. I don't really want all 3000 + pics on my ipad!! How do I get them off? Next time I synced, they loaded again! Now I have so many duplicates! How do I get rid of the photos and prevent this from happening again?If none of your third-party apps are working, but the Apple built-in ones are ok, then try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted. In terms of re-downloading apps then you can do so as long as they are still available in the store, and you use the same iTunes account as you originally used to buy them, then you should be able to re-download them for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
For synced photos, then with the iPad connected to and selected on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, then on the Photos tab on the right-hand side you can control which photos are synced to the iPad : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236 . I'm using my iPhone for listenting to lectures on iTunes U. When I download lectures to my laptop, they are sometimes arranged non-sequentially. I can fix this by renaming the files (e.g., with numbers in the titles), and then sorting by title. However, when I transfer the audio lectures to my iPhone, they are all sorted by "release date" (and frequently the release date is the same for each lecture), and this screws up the ordering. This means that when I'm listening to the lectures, they are all out of order.
I can find no setting on the iPhone for changing the ordering of lectures in iTunes U, nor can I find a way of changing such things when the iPhone is plugged into my laptop. For example, when I connect the iPhone to the laptop, and open iTunes, I select the device (i.e., the iPhone), look at the lectures in iTunes U, and iTunes will not let me change the column that sorts the files.
Any suggestions about how to correct this problem?You can sort your library by adding a Sorting info in the File Info. Select a file in iTunes U, press cmd + i, choose Sorting Tab. For example add a Sort Name. For each file you have to put a value into that field, I did it with 01, 02, 03 .. 12. I do not know if this works if you select multiple files, but I did not try.
The next time you sync your device, your files will be in order. It' ve tested it on an iPad2.
If you ask me, there must be a better solution for that problem as the files have a track number saved in the info as well, and it is quite annoying to add the sorting order manually.
