Are some Apple products waterproof?

So, being the person that I am. I always put stuff into my pockets, and small items such as headphones, I typically once in a while forget to take out of my pockets. Those pants/shorts goes through the washer, and it seems that some Apple products are waterproof? I've had the default Apple headphones go through the washer and they still work perfectly. I've had my iPod Shuffle go through the washer as well. Amazingly enough, still worked perfectly. Here's the even more amazing thing. I recently put my iPod Shuffle (6th Gen) go through the washer, and it still worked perfectly. Now of couse, I should be more careful and learn to always check my pockets before putting my laundry through the washer, but you know, life happens. I was curious, are some Apple products waterproof? I know not all of them are, because my friends iPod Touch died because his waterbottle leaked in his backpack and killed it, but it seems that some Apple products ARE indeed waterproof. I'm amazed at this, but can someone please clarify?

Not waterproof, but if you can dry out the electronics (putting them in a bowl of dried rice often works - maybe the dryer did it for you?) they can work again.
it's not actually water that shorts out the electronics  - it's the ions in the water. As it was explained to me: if you put a shuffle in de-ionized water, it will play, no problem. It's only when you have the ions that you get shorts. So I imagine that if you dry out the shuffle before you use it, it has a chance of survivial.
There are several companies that actually waterproof shuffles. You can read more about it here: http://www.underwateraudio.com/our-advantage/
glad your stuff survied and is still working!

If it is a lightning to 30 pin adaptor, and you have a 7th Generation Nano it has to fit the Nano.
This is lightning to 30 pin adapter: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Apple%26%23174%3B---Lightning-to-30-Pin-Adapter/6651 936.p?id=1218803450821&skuId=6651936#tab=overview
    Is this what you bought?
You need to contact Sony and see if they model you have is compatible with the docking adapter. It may not be.

I own a pawn shop and I have a number of apple products but some are firm ware locked and iCloud locked. These item are now my property. And I need help in order to prepared them for resale?

    Read this first
    it will explain Activation lock
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5818
The only way to unlock them is to have the original owner to release them ,as explained in the above document
The iPhones may have been stolen or the donors intended you to be left with a brick
There is no solution .Apple will NOT unlock them ,it is an anti theft device and since it was introduced with iOS 7 from the posts here it will be very successful at making stolen iPhones useless

  • Wi-fi not working on some apple products

Hi. To start off, my family owns an Apple TV, a MacBook Air, 2 MacBook Pros with Retina Displays, an iMac, 2 iPhones, 2 iPoads, and an iPod Touch. I own one MacBook Pro with Retina Display, one iPhone, and an iPad. For some reason, the Wi-Fi on all of my devices doesn't work. It works maybe 1% of the time and when it does it is incredibly slow. On everyone elses devices seem to work perfectly. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Are your computers in DHCP?
As I said in another post, you can try to delete these files at /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration:
    com.apple.network.eapolclient.configuration.plist
    NetworkInterfaces.plist
Reboot the computer and try again.
If all of your family connect without problem but you can't there is a problem with your devices. It's not possible to have a hardware fail in all of them so it's a configuration issue on them.

  • My macbook pro, iphone, and ipad can not connect to the internet simultaneously. However my room mates computers that are not apple products are connected to the internet.

Occasionally my macbook, iphone, and ipad would not be connected to the internet at the same time. However, when they can connect, all three are connected at the same time. It is not my internet because my room mates computers are connected to the internet the whole time without any problems. When I can't connect, I can still see the network name on th wifi network search. However, when I click connect, the only message that pops up is can not join network.

  • Is shipping is available to pakistan of any apple product?

i want to know is shipping is available to Pakistan if yes then on what cost or if not than how we can get apple product from apple store. Because in Pakistan there is no official apple store and people are selling apple product on higher pricethan on apple store.

Shipping form Apple Online stores s only available within the country the store belongs to.  So the U.S. Online store can only ship within the US.   Just like the U.K. store can only ship within the U.K.
If there were an online store for Pakistan then it would ship within Pakistan.   However, there does not appear to be an Online store for Pakistan.
If there is no Official Apple re-seller, then there's not much that can be done.

  • Purchase of Apple products from Alibaba supplier

I noticed a lot of supplier from China (From Alibaba) are selling Apple products with very cheap price, they claim that their products is original & with factory price, & also can claim warranty from Apple store anywhere in the world. Anyhow have any commend?

They may be a complete scam where you would get nothing. Or the products may be counterfeit, they may be stolen, they may be genuine but imported without authorization from another country, or they may be legitmate. There's no way any of us can know. Buy from a dealer on Apple's list of officially authorized resellers and you shouldn't have a problem:

  • HT1338 i have about 88,000 songs in my music library, some are duplicates. Does anyone know of any Apple Product or 3rd party software that will identify and remove duplicates.

I have about 88,000 songs in my music library, some are duplicates. Does anyone know of any Apple Product or 3rd party software that will identify and remove duplicates.

Backup your music to an external source before doing this, just in case you delete the originals by accident.
iTunes will show you the duplicates.  But I recommend tagging their comments or another field once selecting them to ensure you don't accidentally delete both the original and duplicate.  You can always select all of them and change all their comment tags at once.  Once you've done that, stop showing duplications, and then sort by the comment field.  This will allow you to determine whether only the duplicates were shown in the show duplicates, or the originals.  If you see any without comments, then you can go ahead and delete the duplicates.

  • HT202696 What happens if Apple Support expires for a product?  Does it mean there is no more help available and you are on your own just because you have an older Apple product?

We have a family of Apple products at home, and with every new one, we learn a new aspect of the Apple Life.  After switching to iPhone 5S and struggling between some applications, I've decided it is time to upgrade rest of my older devices requesting an IOS Upgrade to 8.1.2 for weeks.
My older iPhone 4 didn't have an upgrade, which was not advanced enough anymore to carry a new software, this I understand.  The upgraded iPod Touch and iPad Mini don't seem to have any problems with the recent changes so far.  However, the older iPad (2) we had is messed up, just like many other people's as mentioned on the pages of these discussion groups.  According to these user comments / complaints, it is obvious that upgrading to IOS 8.1.2 was not the right option to older version iPads just like it was not for iPhone 4; actually it shouldn't be an option in the first place.
On my previous problems with iPhone 5S, I've come to realise the practicality & functionality of the Apple Support system when contacted directly, instead of going through many discussion pages of people with same or similar problems where everybody is asking but just a few is replying.  So, I wanted to give it a try to find a solution to my recent problems with iPad, but this time Apple Support pages replied with "Technical Support & Service Coverage are both Expired" message.
First, I did not know that Apple supported its users personally, and I loved it.  Maybe this is because I didn't have previous problems with my old iPhone and iPad.  Especially the Apple Support - Chat option I preferred, where I got help step-by-step from Apple operators.  And then, I did not know that this service support was only for my devices until an expiration date, and this did not please me much.
Can anyone enlighten me on how to receive any response from Apple about what to do with problems of an old Apple device?

And as far as paying for phone support, here are a few tips:
If you call your carrier first and then they route you to Apple, you usually don't have to pay for phone support.
If you are talking to Apple and they ask you to pay a support fee, ask if you can get an exception this time.  That usually works once, but they keep track of the times you've been granted such an exception.
If you still end up paying the support fee, that fee only applies if it's not a hardware related issue.  In other words, if it can be fixed by just talking over the phone and following Apple's instructions, then the fee applies.  But if your device is deemed to have a hardware failure that caused the issue, then the fee should not apply, and you can ask for it to be waived after the fact.
This forum is free, and almost all of the technical support articles the Apple tech advisors use are available on this website.  Literally 99% of what they can do over the phone is just walking you through the publicly available support articles.  In other words, you're paying the fee to have them do your research for you.  It's like hiring a research consultant to go look stuff up in the public library so you don't have to.  You're capable of doing it; you'd just rather pay someone to do it for you.
It's like Starbucks.  You know how to make coffee.  Everyone knows how to make coffee.  And Starbucks coffee isn't any better than what you could make at home for far less.  But you want the convenience.  So you're really paying a convenience fee.  Milk is more expensive at 7-Eleven than it is at the grocery store... because it's a convenience store.

  • I just hooked up Internet at my house today and I'm trying to connect to it on my IPhone and IPad but neither are connecting. My grandma's Android phone is connected and is working just fine. Why isn't any of my apple products working?

Since you give no clue as to what make/model/version WiFi router you are using or how you have it configured it's hard to comment.

Ive tried almost EVERYTHING and i still cant track my iPod that was recently stolen. Ive called apple been all over the website and still no way of tracking it. What are some other ways!?

Only the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.
    - Apple will do nothing without a court order
Reporting a lost or stolen Apple product

  • My MacBook died and my hard drive was removed, are my existing files only compatible with Apple products?

My MacBook died and my hard drive was removed, are my existing files only compatible with Apple products? Are the files encrypted with Apple OS or am I able to import my files to Microsoft programs?

The drive as a whole can’t be read on a PC without installing software such as MacDrive on it.
The answer varies for individual document files; some file formats can be read by Windows software, while others can't.

  • I work at a Walgreens and saw a poster saying something about Walgreens employees get some sort of discount on Apple products. Can anyone inform me of what this is?

While working tonight I saw in the back room that Walgreens employees get some sort of discount or something on Apple products and I was not able to read more on it because I had to get back to work. Can anyone inform me of what this is about?
    Thanks!

    Hi rk,
We wouldn't really know anything about that since we are Apple users, and not employees of Walgreens or Apple. Why don't you ask the next time you go into work?

  • If i buy an apple product from the actual customer who bought it, and i face some problem with it, but the device is still under warranty, so would there be any issue for getting the device checked?

If i buy an apple product from the actual customer who bought it, and i face some problem with it, but the device is still under warranty, so would there be any issue for getting the device checked?

If you make an appointment at the Genius Bar about a problem, they will check and evaluate the device, and if it warrants a replacement under warranty, they make the final determination. We are users here. This is a user to user support forum. We cannot determine what Apple will do. I can tell you what I already did, the warranty follows the device.

  • Are Apple products virus-free?

Hi! I own a Macbook Pro, and recently i heard that Apple products are not virus-free anymore, and I would like to know if its true. I download a lot of things and open a lot of pages every day, so its very important to me. In case its possible, please recommend an antivirus.
    Thank You!

There are many categories of malware, viruses are just one category. If you are talking about just viruses, there are few to no viruses on the Mac in the wild. Also, many other types of malware are written to run on Windows and are not compatible with OS X. There is some malware written for the Mac but most of it is not widespread.
To help protect you while surfing the Web, Apple restricts use of technologies like Flash and Java that are often vectors for malware.
But in the end, you still have to be careful because many types of malware don't hack your computer, they hack you through phishing or other social engineering techniques that trick you into entering personal information into a fake site or clicking on a bad link. Because these are hacks on humans themselves, no antivirus can stop them and no system can prevent them, you just have to be smart and keep your eyes open.
And don't get greedy, since a big way malware spreads is through those downloads of "Free" pirated software and content from unauthorized sources that add who-knows-what to files you download.
