Are there any free apps with the same app iPhoto?

Do you want to get iPhoto for free, or are you looking for supplemental apps that are working well with iPhoto?
I do not know of any free third party replacement for iPhoto. For add-ons browse the Store - there are some nice camera apps, image editors,  and panorama stitchers, some are free (cam wow, pic collage, Photo splash, pixlr-o-matic).

  • Are there any known issue with the HP 3005pr USB 3 replicator ?

    Hi,
I recently ordered an HP laptop Pavilion dv6t-7000 with Intel i7 and nVidia video. While the unit isn't due to arrve for about 2 weeks, I'm looking for a docking station/port replicator.
Are there any known issues with the HP 3005pr USB 3 replicator ? Does it fully support Win7 64 bit? I am also considering the Targa U3 unit, but I'd prefer HP if I can be assured that it works.
I'd like to be able to leave the laptop closed when at my desk so I can use  an external keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
Does HP make this device or does a 3rd party make it for them?
I've read so many stories on various forums regarding these things.
Any suggestions from HP or others? I need to order something soon, but I don't want head aches when it arrives.
    thanks,
    Steve

This HP USB 3.0 Port Replicator fully supports with Windows 7 64-bit, if that is the one that you are talking about.

  • Are there any known issues with the epub plugin causing firefox to revert search engine back to yahoo and then disabling the ability to change search settings?

My wife recently added a plugin, epub reader. Upon starting up Firefox the next day she noticed that the default search engine was changed back to Yahoo after we previously fixed this. Furthermore the ability to change search settings was grayed out. After epub reader was removed the problem was solved. I am surprised that I am unable to find anything written to this end about epub reader. Is this a tool promoted and distributed by Yahoo?
Incidentally, how much would each user need to contribute to get mozilla away from Yahoo? Yahoo is, in my opinion, little more than an advertising vehicle, and not a real search engine.

I went to Costco today and asked long known VZW Kiosk rep re what phone would he recommend...DX, DI or Fascinate.
Not to my surprise, I was told that DX is the best of those three. Given the fact that all three is the same price $199, it indicates that is has nothing to do with price.
When I acquired him about how Fascinate sales going, rep told me that since that phone went for sale this Thursday, local Costco only sold 10 Fascinate but that not all...7 of them were returned back to Costco by Saturday. That is a 70% return rate which seems to be way too high for the high level smartphone.
At the same time, local Costo VZW kiosk can't keep up with demand of the DX, they are being sold out as soon as they are getting them. I am not advertising for DX here as I am myself briefly owned DX as soon as it was released and its problem with reboot forced me to return it as I didn't want to deal with replacement as I had bad experience in the past two years with VZW replacing my phones every two to three month with replacement phone being worse then the one that is being replaced.
There is no such a thing as a perfect smartphone (sorry to all iPhone fans) but VZW should take a special "achievement" award for screwing up such a wonderful phone as Galaxy S.
I can only hope that either DX with 2.2 will be better than the one with 2.1 or I will wait for what is coming up with HTC in November.

  • Are there any known issues with the latest update to iTunes on Windows 7 maxing out the processor and nearly bringing the system to a hault.

Has anyone experienced an issue with the latest update to iTunes (11.2.0.115) for Windows where iTunes pegs out the processor at 97%, 98%, and holds there for maybe 15 minutes before dropping to 50%. During that time, the system is basically useless. You just have to ride it out. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium.

    Hi OnceBeforeIDie,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

    Hello,
In answer to your question, I have not heard of any "known problems."
The device may, indeed, be faulty.  Try resetting the PRAM and SMC before you buy a new one.

  • Are there any known issues with the Sony DCR-SR65?

Has anyone had any experience with this camera? My school is looking to buy one so I can record classes & school events. I am just trying to make sure it is recognised by the computer and that there are no major problems with it.
Also, it seems that it only has USB (no firewire). Does anyone see this as an issue?
Does anyone have a better recommendation for a video camera than the above?
    I have a late 2007 iMac with both iMovie 08 and 06.
    With thanks
    Mike.

I would disagree with Bengt's advice to this extent.
You don't need firewire for the modern high definition cameras that are on the Apple Supported List.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1014
Most of these cameras require USB and do not even have firewire.
However, avoid USB-only cameras for standard definition or DV formats (especially if they are not on the supported list.)
Also, just about any miniDV/Firewire camera will work. You don't have to worry whether or not they are on the list.

  • HT4718 are there any reported problems with safari with the new OS X Mavericks?

My early 2008 iMac running OS X 10.9.2 all of the sudden has problems loading pages in safari.  The problem timing is the same as the upgrade to Maverick. The computer is connecting to wifi and other devices such as iPhones and three PCs have no problems.  The ISP is Xfinity.  Are there any reported problems with Maverick and Safari?

    Try searching.

I have updated my iphone 5 with IOS7. Now there is an update 7.0.2 on my cell and the size of update file is showing around 21.0 MB. I tried to update it ITunes but it seems it is downloading the entire IOS. Is there any separate update for the same or I have to download the entire IOS again?

Well when you download the update with iTunes it will always download the whole new version (in your case 7.0.2) even if its just an bug fix. If you already have 7.0 download the update over-the-air.
You already wrote that the update is only 21 MB, so its not the whole firmware package of 7.0.2 you get with iTunes.

Yes as long as you use the same Apple ID for iTunes that you used to download the app originally.
    Hope that helps

I am frequently unable to join the internet or, if I can, it is exceptionally slow. The ISP says nothing is wrong ontheir end.  Are there any compatibility issues with any ISPs when using Time Capsule and/or iMacs?

Tried this several times to no avail.  I believe it is the ISP causing the problem...Time Warner.

Are you looking for the serial number or the IMEI? If the phone was active on your Verizon acount, Verizon can give you the IMEI.

Are there any free TV channels that can be received on the Apple TV?

No, it's not a TV tuner.  It's primarily marketed as a rental vehicle for iTunes store movies/purchases and for playback of compatible (see specs) media from iTunes.
Some subscription streams are available eg Netflix, MLB as well as youTube and some limited internet content (no browser).

Are there any ventilation issues with running a macbook air in clamshell mode?

    ...that makes sense to me.
but, why do so many MBA users (on this forum and others) claim that ventilation occurs through the keyboard?  Is this claim based on an old macbook design?
for example, here's a related discussion (although fairly old):

A common misconception of unknown origin. The intake and the exhaust for the cooling fan on the 13" MB and MBP are both located on the rear slot at the base of the hinge. In fact, you can actually see the divider that separates the intake flow from the output flow. If it were through the keyboard crevices, then an awful lot of overheats would result from people using impermeable keyboard covers, as well as Apple's warranty department would be flipping out over the Apple store carrying such covers. iSkin ProTouch FX Keyboard Cover for all MacBooks - Black Printed Keys on White - Apple Store (U.S.)
Does one think that Apple sells these only for use when the Notebook is off??? http://store.apple.com/us/product/TW...co=MTM3OTUwMDE Closing the lid, whilst operating the unit actually results in cooler operation due to reduction in power consumed by operating the display, which in supporting the on-board display generates heat far greater than simply powering the video port..

once again, I've tried a few of these keyboard covers. the Moshi keyboard cover is the ONLY one I can recommend. the others are too thick or change the keyboard experience too much.

    1. Closing the cover will cause more heat. This is not because of covering the keyboard very much (though it does help some heat be retained). It's mainly because of the shape of the hinge and the fact when closed it covers up the back vent a lot more. For the best cooling, it is best to have the screen open. Just run it as a dual monitor, but make the external the Primary monitor, and if you don't want to use the built in, just turn its backlight off and don't use it.
    2. The thing you plug into the wall is not a battery charger. The actual "charger" is built into the computer. It knows when to charge and when not to. If the little light on the power plug is amber, then its charging your battery. When its green, its just powering the laptop and NOT charging your battery at all.

I'd leave the lid open, at least partially...yes it may be fine not doing that, but you are making heat dissipate worse, of course could even theoretically hurt the screen.
As for the battery...well there's really only two choices, have it plugged in or not. As others mentioned, you can't overcharge the battery. It can be damaged a bit from heat, but of course the number one thing that's going to damage it is discharging it...so it's a no brainer-use it plugged in whenever possible, and try to charge it whenever possible when it's not plugged in.

Nope. Apple would disagree with you on that one. Any "closure", which is, when compared to the amount of CFM, is insignificant. In fact, the opening size remains the same. it is only deflected at a slight angle when the lid is closed. Tilt your MBP and see. As well, shutting down the display lowers the heat being generated, even in the lower case. As I said, if it were a problem, Apple would not be selling stands designed to operate your unit in the closed position as the original poster of this thread proposes to do.
