Are there ways to stream audio or does everything have to be under 10 MB?

As a DJ with lots of long audio mixes (anywhere from 50 to 80 minutes), I'd like to post on my site using iWeb, anything over three minutes needs to be condensed down via iMovie (according to the iWeb program) .... but even if I choose "email" in the export step of iMovie, I can't get my long audio files anywhere close to 10 MB!
Am I gonna be stuck with crappy audio quality? Are there other ways to get audio on there or other other ways to compress large files? Or can I just keep the files huge with great quality and hope people can listen to them?
Also, will people be able to control click on them to save them to their desktops? Or can they just "listen" to them on my site?
Oh - OR ......... when they're podcasts, are they transferred from somewhere else as long as I submit them to iTunes?? Would that keep the quality good as well as minimizing any bandwidth it takes to download them? Am I answering my own question here????

Does anyone know a way to stream audio from Snow Leopard to a PPC running Panther?

I have recently aquired a iMac PPC, I've freshly installed Panther on it and it runs a treat. I was wondering however if there is a way to stream audio from my main Desktop, a 2007 iMac running Snow Leopard. iTunes library share isn't a solution either as I use Spotify a my main source of music and unfortunetly it is no longer supported for PPC's.

Unfortunately I could get neither of these to work, probably because of my own ineptitude.
I couldn't get VLC to output from Spotify, this could be my own fault.
I also couldn't make Airplay play with OS X 10.3.9.
I did however find a messy workaround.
I am currently using Airfoil on my main Desktop to output Spotify and then am receiving it on Airfoil Speaker on my iPhone, which is in turn connected to my 10.3.9 iMacs audio input via a 3.5mm Jack.
You need to download an app called LineIn for 10.3 (http://www.rogueamoeba.com/legacy/) to play the sound from the input from the built in speakers.
To be fair it's not that messy it just requires you to have a device that can have Airfoil Speakers installed on it and have a 3.5mm Jack.

There is a way to find and recover individual photos from a Time Machine backup.
1 - dowload and launch Find Any File.
2 - select the Time Machine hard drive in FAF's Find Items menu.
3 - enter the full file name of the photo you want to recover into FAF and use the Find button.
NOTE: it will take a while for FAF to retrieve and display the results of the search due to the nature of how TM makes its backups. 30 seconds or so is normal.
4 - select the file in the Masters folder and use the Space bar to verify it's the one you want with Quickview.
5 - drag the file from the FAF window to your Desktop.
6 - repeat for each photo you need to restore.

I just changed over from Safari, and Firefox is incredibly slow! Are there ways to fix this?

It's taking 30 to 60 seconds for Firefox to open any page. I just changed over from Safari, and this is about 10 times slower than Safari. Are there ways to speed up opening pages? I can't keep Firefox as my browser if it continues to be this slow. I have a Mac Mini, with Mac OS X as my operating system.

could all together trigger the cause.

I believe you can manage your laptops with one Apple id, but I recommend that you have individual Calling ID's for each laptop. This calling ID is under the "You can be reached for calls at:" line when your in Facetime preferences. This will allow you two guys to call each other on your laptops, plus you don't have to be bothered by people calling him, or visa versa.

I think Apple prevents low level display buffer access to areas used by its apps that may be showing protected content - you get a grey/white checkerboard pattern when you mirror - same proabbly applies to playback of iTunes DRM video. Try screengrabbing for example.
For DVD playback, I believe VLC will mirror ok.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. For the iPad Mini the iOS is 6.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.

Pardon my ignorance. I have tried to search the forums, but the search box on this site hasn't got the possibility to limit the search to only this forum.
My question is simple: If I capture audio from the microphone on my computer using a TargetDataLine and want to stream it over the internet to some other computer with some other software somewhere, what is the correct way to do so?
Alternative 1: I create a ByteArrayOutputStream and a ServerSocket
Alternative 2: I missed something in the documentation and should actually have constructed some other Line object connecting to an outgoing port on the computer.

(1) ServerSocket = TCP, and TCP = resends dropped packets. If you resend dropped packets, your stream will progressively get further and further behind "real-time" because every resent packet will add some delay that will never be made up.
(2) This is probably going to take up a fair bit of bandwidth if you're capturing decent quality audio.
So you'd definately want to use UDP instead to avoid the delay thing. Problem there is...
(1) UDP packets aren't guarenteed to be delivered in order, so you'll want to drop the out of order packets.
Actually, there's a method out there that's widely used to send media across a network that's implemented in UDP that's called RTP (Real-time Protocol). RTP is implemented in an add-on package for Java called JMF (Java Media Framework).
With JMF, you can capture audio, transcode it into a different transmission-friendly RTP format, send it over the network, receive it on the other end, and play it using the built-in JMF player object. And if you're just wanting to do RTP and Sound, you can do it all just by including an extra JAR file.

Our OBIEE version is 10.3.4 on Redhat, OBIEE connect to a Oracle 11.2.0.2 database running on the same box of Redhat as OBIEE. Our application is java based web application using Tomcat, it point to OLTP database of Oracle 11.2.0.2 on an dedicated Redhat server.
One of the original requirements for the application was to process OLTP data with complecated logic and create reports in text files. Now the customer wants to use OBI to display, print and distribute the reports. The best way to meet this requirement change at the late stage of development appear to be interfacing the application with OBIEE, if possible at all. That way, on clicking a button in the application GUI, a stream of formated data is sent to OBI pressentation service as a response to a request. An OBI client page will then be displayed to shpw the reports, and allow user to print and distribute.
Now are there some OBI APIs allowing an application to call to interface with OBIEE?

Are there benefits to streaming Hinted H264?

Are there any benefits to streaming hinted h264 files? I'm creating h264 mp4 files using Telestream's Episode and all of the streaming presets are hinted, so the files are twice as large. When I normally create h264 in quicktime or Adobe Media Encoder CS4 they're not hinted, so I'm wondering how flash media (interactive server 3) handles hinted files. I'm assuming it ignores the hinted tracks.

Just you hear all these guys saying how nice it is to have an un-locked or jail-broken phone but they never go into the reasons, well I guess they do. I guess but I still don't se the benefit other than the ones you and others here have given.

Does anyone know there way around the audio settings and audio cables?

I need some help setting up some audio settings for my Ps4 in a weird way. What I want to do is what CBarner89 does on twitch. If you havnt seen him stream from his Ps4 he has his decks hooked up to his stream directly channeling the audio in to the stream. I asked around on the stream about how to do it the only reply I've had is that I should plug the RCA connection from my decks in to my controller with the aux input. Howerever when I do this there is no option in the audio settings to set the input to come from my decks. But when I plug in a pair of headphones I have that also have a mic for answering calls the option to set it my controller as an audio input is highlighted. And then I can set my controller as the main audio input. I noticed that on the RCA cables I have for my decks have 2 black lines on the actual gold part that you insert and my headphones that have a mic has 3 black lines is this something to do with it?

Yes this is pretty rubbish, I have a presentation that we use to run the whole of an 'Oscars' like ceremony for our company which is attended by over 200 branches and hundreds of people, we use animated backgrounds which loop and look really professional, but due to lag and pauses while the next slide loads we have layered these one on top of another in a single master slide, after the first fixed animation runs it fade mixes through to the looping slide beneath it which looks great and means there is no lag in music or movie animation.
Now that they have removed animation from the master slides this doesn't work any more so we have had to restore back to the old version of keynote and all works like a dream again, how silly is it when upgrades end up as downgrades!
Thank goodness I had plenty of backups or this would have been a disaster as our conference apporaches in March!

Are there any 3.5mm audio extensions that won't disable the microphone feature on my earpods?

I have an iMac with a single 3.5mm audio/mic combo input. I also have the apple earpods so the mic on the earpods will be used instead of the built in mic on the iMac when it is plugged in. However, the cable on my earpods are not enough and i was wondering if there would be a 3.5mm audio extension that does not cancel the mic usability on my earpods!

So just in case anyone else ever runs into this...
I solved the issue and it was that between the plug of the new earbuds being slightly thicker than the Apple earpods, and the width of the case that I was using for my iPod, there wasn't a connection being made to activate the remote function.
I took off the case and now the earbuds work exactly as they should!
