Article Hierarchy in IS retail

Hi,
I am inserting articles in the article hierarchy through a BAPI (BAPI_WRF_MATGRP_CHANGE) from an excel file which is assigning the articles correctly to the required node.
My problem is : I need to insert 2 nodes ( for MC and GBB) in this hierarchy. This data is also maintained in that excel.

How did you pass the data into this BAPI . Could you provide one sample. I am having a tough time using this BAPI.

hi Selva, I'm curious on how the above has been resolved. I'm new to Retail and would like to get your inputs on whether an active hierarchy can still be changed and if so, what are the steps (trying to add another level to an existing node, e.g. new sub-department under an existing department). Mass upload of articles to article hierarchy

Hi,
We want to use LSMW using IDOC methodology to assign articles to article hierarchy. Can anybody help us to get this done?
We are wokring on SAP IS-R 620 verson.
We are trying message type WMATGRP but not able to use the same.

Hi Vikrant,
There are two ways of Uploading the mass files in a single way
First one: "Portal Drive" and another one is WebDev so you can follow both the process of uploading bunch number of files in portal content server.
WebDav process
Click on Repository ->details> Setting> Access Link-> Copy the WebDav path and paste it into address bar of the Explorer
Than click on Webdav and enter the username and password than you can easily entered the directory and paste the file easily.
Portal Drive
Mention the Exact path in the Server URl -> Go to Work Online--> than they require Username and password after that they
can directly enter into the server where you can store ur file.
This will helpful to you.Or If you need my help in portal drive so i can write the step by step.

Issues in using LSMW IDOC method for Article Hierarchy

Hi Experts,
I am working on a scenario for uploading article hierarchy using LSMW idoc method.
Details:
Message type WMATGRP
IDoc type WMATGRP01
But as per my understanig, for processing, there should be a inbound Function module/Process code. But I am unable to find out any process code for this in tcode WE42/We60.
Could you please help in this problem.

Hi Saeed,
For example if you want t create bom through lsmw then we will *** two files one header and other item one.In the same way .In lsmw start by keeping the idoc method i will only propose at second step how many files it need. Just map the idoc and see. Post if need more help.

Creation of Article Hierarchy

Hi Experts,
Would like to take your sugestion in creation of Article Hierarchy.
I am creating Article Hierarchy B1, by using transation WMATGRP01 and entering in the screen of creation of Article Hierarchy and when i am giving to create a Hierarchy Node the system is automatically generating the Hierarchy Node number, which i want to enter manually as per client"s requirement. Please advice how to create the hierarchy node manually.

It could be due to External Number Assignment not checked
Goto:
IMG>Logistics - General>Article Hierarchy-->Edit Hierarchy Levels
and check the external no. assignment.
See if the problem resolves.

How to remove flag for deletion for an article in SAP IS Retail

Hi,
I wish to know , is it possible to remove flag for deletion at client level for the article (in SAP Retail System) ?
I have already tried to do remove the flag using the tcode MM06 (MM) method.
But the system says that, it cannot be done for the articles maintained using the retail functions.
I there any other Tcode ?
Or it's the end of the road ??

Extracting Article hierarchy

Hi team,
An Article hierarchy is creted in the R/3 side.Can we extract the hieharchy structure into the BW side,so that there is no need of creating the hierarchy structure in the BW again.

Asking for help about modification to article master data of retail system

Deal All,
Is there any one can tell me how to modify the article master data in retail system ?
I have tried to deal with the requirement by BDC and calling the function BAPI_MATERIAL_MAINTAINDATA_RT,
but both of the two approaches can not update the customized fields in the table MAW1.
For BDC, the changed data can only be update in debug mode.
For the function, no customized fields of table MAW1 are taken into account as to its parameters.
Can anyone tell how I should do ?

but I have used simple report importing data from excell (stored as assignment (segmentID , articleID) )
and using a FM BAPI_WRF_MATGRP_CHANGE.

Can somebody distinguish the differences between the Article Hierarchy and Merchandise Categotry? Which one is better to use? Both seems to have a similiar functionality but why SAP had proposed Article hierarchy and Merchandise category seperately?

Both Article & Merchandise Hierarchies are very much different. Both are meant for differnt purposes.

Material group hierarchy in SAP Retail

Hi Guru's;
I'm looking to load hierarchy of material group in BW.
In the SAP source system the used standard transaction WG21, WG22CLWM for managing retail material group hierarchy.
I suppose that from those transaction there is a BW hierarchy to recover this datas.
I found this datasource 0MATL_GROUP_LKLS_HIER but when i made a test in RSA3 i can't select any hierachy.
Why ? Is there something special for this hierarchy that i need to manage ?

Re-use of article numbers in SAP Retail - consequences for SAP BI ?

Hello experts,
I´ve got another task concerning SAP BI 7.0 and Retail ECC 6.00. We are confronted with the following situation: The InfoObject 0MATERIAL is used for SAP Retail Article. 0MATERIAL has been extended with some specific attributes, but beside from this it´s still a standard Business Content object (lenght 18 characters etc.). We are loading data on a daily basis.
Now for the future there´s the intention to re-use already existing article numbers for different articles (!). E.g. article 012345678910111213 is now a bath towel, but somewhere in the future it changes into a computer or something else.
From my understanding, we cannot delete the "old" articles in SAP BI as long as they are used in any transactional data. We also cannot change the article text, because 0MATERIAL is not time-dependent. I know that we can make the texts time-dependent (valid from - valid to), but in this case the users have to know when the last change of every specific article has taken place - and this can´t be guaranteed. Beside from this, I can´t see a solution for the reporting on articles because they cannot be compared.
So - has anybody of you been confrontated with a similar situation and has been solved this problem ?
