Asp syntax

I'm trying the following:
In an asp page I want to insert a MM_openBrWindow behavior,
where the
window.open variables (theURL,winName,Features) will be come
from some
fields of a database like this:
the data for the "theURL" variable should be:
../proclam/<%=(rsCalendar.Fields.Item("cal_ID").Value)%>.html
the data for the "winName" variable should be:
win<%=(rsCalendar.Fields.Item("cal_ID").Value)%>
and the data for the "Features" variable should be:
<%=(rsCalendar.Fields.Item("popup").Value)%>
Furthermore, the text/link that calls the MM_openBrWindow
behavior, should
only be visible when the "popup" field of the database Is Not
Empty. Else,
the text/link should be replaced by an empty space (&nbsp
Is it possible?
If yes, what is the syntax?

  • ASP syntax for Oracle update with parameters

    I am trying to do update on aspx page (not with code behind).  I can perform update without parameters but I get ORA-0136 illegal variable name/number when I try to use a parameter in where clause.  I added the parameter with tag - <asp:Parameter>

    ASPX page is below.
    The issue is the UPDATE for last Gridview (Gridview3).  If I put a literal in the WHERE clause (i.e., "...WHERE ITEMNUM = '0001'"", then the update works.  So, it appears the issue is how I code the parameter.
    Thanks...

  • Editor for ASP with syntax highlighting? (I use Bluefish)

    Is there a decent, simple (or not-so-simple) editor for ASP code?  Or, is there a way to get Bluefish to highlight ASP correctly?
    Don't suggest VIM.  I love it, but I haven't learned the intricacies of it yet.
    And, yes, I apologize for writing ASP...

    Hi,
    this is a short introduction, might help at start:
    Starts with some generell settings, please note that I just add these
    settings to the files in /usr/share/scite, most of the stuff can also be set in
    files in your ~. Refer to scite docs for filenames onn that.
    SciTEGlobal.properties: general settings which are mostly scattered over
    the file. Find the lines and tweak them.
    # I like my Scite with tabs and a statusbar, displaying line and column
    tabbar.visible=1
    tabbar.hide.one=1
    tabbar.multiline=1
    statusbar.visible=1
    #comment out this line to have it displayed under the textfield not besides
    #split.vertical=1
    #display line numbers (create enough space for 4 digits)
    line.margin.visible=1
    line.margin.width=4
    # ask b4 automatically reload an altered file on disk
    are.you.sure.on.reload=1
    # show name and number of my tab in titlebar
    title.full.path=1
    title.show.buffers=1
    # save the buffer state in a file
    and reload on startup
    save.recent=1
    save.session=1
    load.on.activate=1
    # allows 25 tabs
    buffers=25
    # I plain hate tabs and using 8 spaces is waste of place
    # converts tab hits to spaces
    tabsize=2
    indent.size=2
    use.tabs=0
    # some sane fontsettings: - the ! activates pango -> AA fonts
    # sets them all to similar sizes and monospace font
    # after the if PLAT_GTK these must be tabs in intendation!
    if PLAT_GTK
    font.base=font:!bitstream vera sans mono,size:9
    font.small=font:!bitstream vera sans mono,size:8
    font.comment=font:!bitstream vera sans mono,italics,size:9
    font.code.comment.box=$(font.comment)
    font.code.comment.line=$(font.comment)
    font.code.comment.doc=$(font.comment)
    font.text=font:!bitstream vera sans mono,size:9
    font.text.comment=font:!bitstream vera sans mono,size:8
    font.embedded.base=font:!bitstream vera sans mono,size:9
    font.embedded.comment=font:!bitstream vera sans mono,size:9
    font.monospace=font:!bitstream vera sans mono,size:9
    font.vbs=font:!bitstream vera sans mono,italics,size:9
    # uuh, netscape - long time not seen, replce with firefox
    if PLAT_GTK
    command.print.*=a2ps "$(FileNameExt)"

    # add a vertical line at column 80
    edge.column=80
    edge.mode=1
    edge.colour=#E0E0E0
    go on to html.properties file; to get the advantages you need the php.api
    and the phpfunctions.properties from http://scintilla.sourceforge.net/SciTEExtras.html
    there you also find api files for ASP
    #replace netscape with mozilla-firefox again
    if PLAT_GTK
    command.go.$(file.patterns.web)=mozilla-firefox "file:///$(FilePath)"
    # load the .api file which I downloaded from the web; it contains, per line,
    # a short explaination of each command
    # $file.patterns.php is defined for *.php and friends by file extensions
    api.$(file.patterns.php)=$(SciteDefaultHome)/php.api
    # the calltips for the hypertext lexer shall not be case sensitive
    calltip.hypertext.ignorecase=1
    # define how the calltipps should be parsed, the following is the same as
    # the standard anyway, but might be overwritten by some people in SciTEGlobal
    calltip.hypertext.parameters.start=(
    calltip.hypertext.parameters.end=)
    calltip.hypertext.parameters.separators=,
    # some calltips have an additionally explaination after the final ")"
    # -this makes display them in a second line
    calltip.hypertext.end.definition=)
    # autocopleter stuff
    # defines which type of characters let the autocompletion pop up
    autocomplete.hypertext.start.characters=_$(chars.alpha)
    # also the autocompletion should not be case sensitive since, grrr php and html
    autocomplete.html.ignorecase=1
    # extend the "Extras" menu with some commands
    # Tidy Checking
    command.name.1.$(file.patterns.web)=HTML Tidy Validate
    command.1.$(file.patterns.web)=tidy -quiet -errors $(FilePath)
    error.select.line=1
    # Tidy Cleanup and indent
    command.name.2.$(file.patterns.web)=HTML Tidy Cleanup
    command.2.$(file.patterns.web)=tidy -i -wrap 80 -m $(FilePath)
    # the executed command alternates the file, so it should be saved b4 and must be
    # re-read -> activate are.you.sure.on.reload=1 , makes things easier to handle
    # !!!! THERE IS NO UNDO ON THIS COMMAND !!!!
    command.save.before.1.$(file.patterns.web)=1

    # activate a lint checker for php files
    command.name.1.$(file.patterns.php)=Check PHP syntax
    command.1.$(file.patterns.php)=php -l $(FilePath)
    the tidy doesn't work onClick, but it shows you the errors in line and column
    some pictures to show stuff:
    the gray edge at column 80 and the php-lint checker in action:
    autocomplete code:
    the calltip, NOTE: it is wrapped after the ) which was our setting:
    calltip.hypertext.end.definition=)
    and the delimiter , let highlight the the correct argument:
    whoever want's jump in and wikify that, go ahead, leave me a note where
    I shall help.

  • [SOLVED] Php.ini syntax error, unexpected '&'

    Hi guys,
    I'm having a trouble setting up a local hosted LAMP, I want to enable the error reporting and display, but it's giving me this error:
    [root@albert albert]# php
    PHP: syntax error, unexpected '&' in /etc/php/php.ini on line 105
    Line 105:
    ; error_reporting
    Default Value: E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE & ~E_STRICT & ~E_DEPRECATED ; this is the 105
    Development Value: E_ALL
    Production Value: E_ALL & ~E_DEPRECATED & ~E_STRICT
    And when I access to on localhost/phpmyadmin:
    Fatal error: Call to undefined function PMA_DBI_num_rows() in /usr/share/webapps/phpMyAdmin/libraries/navigation/Nodes/Node.class.php on line 408
    When I comment the line 105,106,107, it works as I expected, but I can't see any error output...
    Here it's the entire php.ini:
    [PHP]
    ; About php.ini ;
    ; PHP's initialization file, generally called php.ini, is responsible for
    ; configuring many of the aspects of PHP's behavior.
    ; PHP attempts to find and load this configuration from a number of locations.
    ; The following is a summary of its search order:
    ; 1. SAPI module specific location.
    ; 2. The PHPRC environment variable. (As of PHP 5.2.0)
    ; 3. A number of predefined registry keys on Windows (As of PHP 5.2.0)
    ; 4. Current working directory (except CLI)
    ; 5. The web server's directory (for SAPI modules), or directory of PHP
    ; (otherwise in Windows)
    ; 6. The directory from the --with-config-file-path compile time option, or the
    ; Windows directory (C:\windows or C:\winnt)
    ; See the PHP docs for more specific information.
    ; http://php.net/configuration.file
    ; The syntax of the file is extremely simple. Whitespace and lines
    ; beginning with a semicolon are silently ignored (as you probably guessed).
    ; Section headers (e.g. [Foo]) are also silently ignored, even though
    ; they might mean something in the future.
    ; Directives following the section heading [PATH=/www/mysite] only
    ; apply to PHP files in the /www/mysite directory. Directives
    ; following the section heading [HOST=www.example.com] only apply to
    ; PHP files served from www.example.com. Directives set in these
    ; special sections cannot be overridden by user-defined INI files or
    ; at runtime. Currently, [PATH=] and [HOST=] sections only work under
    ; CGI/FastCGI.
    ; http://php.net/ini.sections
    ; Directives are specified using the following syntax:
    ; directive = value
    ; Directive names are *case sensitive* - foo=bar is different from FOO=bar.
    ; Directives are variables used to configure PHP or PHP extensions.
    ; There is no name validation. If PHP can't find an expected
    ; directive because it is not set or is mistyped, a default value will be used.
    ; The value can be a string, a number, a PHP constant (e.g. E_ALL or M_PI), one
    ; of the INI constants (On, Off, True, False, Yes, No and None) or an expression
    ; (e.g. E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE), a quoted string ("bar"), or a reference to a
    ; previously set variable or directive (e.g. ${foo})
    ; Expressions in the INI file are limited to bitwise operators and parentheses:
    ; | bitwise OR
    ; ^ bitwise XOR
    ; & bitwise AND
    ; ~ bitwise NOT
    ; ! boolean NOT
    ; Boolean flags can be turned on using the values 1, On, True or Yes.
    ; They can be turned off using the values 0, Off, False or No.
    ; An empty string can be denoted by simply not writing anything after the equal
    ; sign, or by using the None keyword:
    ; foo = ; sets foo to an empty string
    ; foo = None ; sets foo to an empty string
    ; foo = "None" ; sets foo to the string 'None'
    ; If you use constants in your value, and these constants belong to a
    ; dynamically loaded extension (either a PHP extension or a Zend extension),
    ; you may only use these constants *after* the line that loads the extension.
    ; About this file ;
    ; PHP comes packaged with two INI files. One that is recommended to be used
    ; in production environments and one that is recommended to be used in
    ; development environments.
    ; php.ini-production contains settings which hold security, performance and
    ; best practices at its core. But please be aware, these settings may break
    ; compatibility with older or less security conscience applications. We
    ; recommending using the production ini in production and testing environments.
    ; php.ini-development is very similar to its production variant, except it's
    ; much more verbose when it comes to errors. We recommending using the
    ; development version only in development environments as errors shown to
    ; application users can inadvertently leak otherwise secure information.
    ; Quick Reference ;
    ; The following are all the settings which are different in either the production
    ; or development versions of the INIs with respect to PHP's default behavior.
    ; Please see the actual settings later in the document for more details as to why
    ; we recommend these changes in PHP's behavior.

    ; Output buffering is a mechanism for controlling how much output data
    ; (excluding headers and cookies) PHP should keep internally before pushing that
    ; data to the client. If your application's output exceeds this setting, PHP
    ; will send that data in chunks of roughly the size you specify.
    ; Turning on this setting and managing its maximum buffer size can yield some
    ; interesting side-effects depending on your application and web server.
    ; You may be able to send headers and cookies after you've already sent output
    ; through print or echo. You also may see performance benefits if your server is
    ; emitting less packets due to buffered output versus PHP streaming the output
    ; as it gets it. On production servers, 4096 bytes is a good setting for performance

    ; some common settings and their meanings.
    ; By default, PHP is set to take action on all errors, notices and warnings EXCEPT
    ; those related to E_NOTICE and E_STRICT, which together cover best practices and

    ; Note: The php.ini-development file has this setting as E_ALL. This
    ; means it pretty much reports everything which is exactly what you want during
    ; development and early testing.
    ; Error Level Constants:
    ; E_ALL - All errors and warnings (includes E_STRICT as of PHP 5.4.0)
    ; E_ERROR - fatal run-time errors
    ; E_RECOVERABLE_ERROR - almost fatal run-time errors
    ; E_WARNING - run-time warnings (non-fatal errors)
    ; E_PARSE - compile-time parse errors
    ; E_NOTICE - run-time notices (these are warnings which often result
    ; from a bug in your code, but it's possible that it was
    ; intentional (e.g., using an uninitialized variable and
    ; relying on the fact it's automatically initialized to an
    ; empty string)
    ; E_STRICT - run-time notices, enable to have PHP suggest changes
    ; to your code which will ensure the best interoperability
    ; and forward compatibility of your code
    ; E_CORE_ERROR - fatal errors that occur during PHP's initial startup
    ; E_CORE_WARNING - warnings (non-fatal errors) that occur during PHP's
    ; initial startup
    ; E_COMPILE_ERROR - fatal compile-time errors
    ; E_COMPILE_WARNING - compile-time warnings (non-fatal errors)
    ; E_USER_ERROR - user-generated error message
    ; E_USER_WARNING - user-generated warning message
    ; E_USER_NOTICE - user-generated notice message
    ; E_DEPRECATED - warn about code that will not work in future versions
    ; of PHP
    ; E_USER_DEPRECATED - user-generated deprecation warnings
    ; Common Values:

  • Trying to create a XML file from an ASP Form

    I have an ASP form on my website that generates a XML data
    file, but there are a few problems with it. First, when I generate
    the file, it creates a new file every time a user clicks on
    "Submit" and I would like the data to just be appended to a
    particular, existing XML file...how can I append the data to the
    XML file? The code I am currently using is shown below.
    Secondly, I need to nest/repeat certain fields within the XML
    file. Basically, I want the XML file to look like this (I
    simplified the code for ease of writing, so don't bother with the
    syntax):
    <Recipe>
    <RecipeName>
    <SubmittedBy>
    <Ingredients>
    <Amount>
    <Unit>
    <Ingredient>
    <Description>
    <Directions>
    <Recipe>
    <RecipeName>
    etc...
    How would I create a form that would create that type of XML
    file? Think of a MS Access form with linked subforms, but I don't
    want to repeat more data than I have to.
    Any advice or help would be very appreciated!!! Also, if you
    know of a 3-party product that might solve this for me, I am open
    to that also!
    Thanks!!!

  • How to enable syntax highlighting for jspf files on Dreamweaver CS5.5 on Mac

    I ran into an issue where I couldn't get the color coding (color coding style) for java server pages fragments (.jspf) files to show syntax highliting.
    I followed the adobe instructions on Changing and adding file extensions recognized by Dreamweaver without any luck.
    Here is the solution that worked for me:
    On a Mac:
    1. Edit the /Users/YOUR USER/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS5.5/en_US/Configuration/DocumentTypes/MMDocumetTypes.xml
    Note: the Adobe instructions tell you to edit /Applications/Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5/Configuration/DocumentTypes/MMDocumetTypes.xml (Editing this file didn't do anything for me, so you need to change the file above instead)
    Find,
    <documenttype id="JSP" servermodel="JSP" internaltype="Dynamic" winfileextension="jsp,jst" macfileextension="jsp,jst" file="Default.jsp" writebyteordermark="false" mimetype="text/html">
    Replace with,
    <documenttype id="JSP" servermodel="JSP" internaltype="Dynamic" winfileextension="jsp,jst,jspf" macfileextension="jsp,jst,jspf" file="Default.jsp" writebyteordermark="false" mimetype="text/html">
    2. Edit the /Users/YOUR USER/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS5.5/en_US/Configuration/Extensions.txt
    In the All: section on top add the jspf extention right after jsp in my example it looked like this
    HTM,HTML,SHTM,SHTML,HTA,HTC,XHTML,STM,SSI,JS,JSON,AS,ASC,ASR,XML,XSL,XSD,DTD,XSLT,RSS,RDF, LBI,DWT,ASP,ASA,ASPX,ASCX,ASMX,CONFIG,CS,CSS,CFM,CFML,CFC,TLD,TXT,PHP,PHP3,PHP4,PHP5,PHP-D IST,PHTML,JSP,WML,TPL,LASSO,JSF,VB,VBS,VTM,VTML,INC,SQL,JAVA,EDML,MASTER,INFO,INSTALL,THEME,CONFIG,MODU LE,PROFILE,ENGINE,SVG:All
    and I added the jspf and it looks like this now,
    HTM,HTML,SHTM,SHTML,HTA,HTC,XHTML,STM,SSI,JS,JSON,AS,ASC,ASR,XML,XSL,XSD,DTD,XSLT,RSS,RDF, LBI,DWT,ASP,ASA,ASPX,ASCX,ASMX,CONFIG,CS,CSS,CFM,CFML,CFC,TLD,TXT,PHP,PHP3,PHP4,PHP5,PHP-D IST,PHTML,JSP,JSPF,WML,TPL,LASSO,JSF,VB,VBS,VTM,VTML,INC,SQL,JAVA,EDML,MASTER,INFO,INSTALL,THEME,CONFIG,MODU LE,PROFILE,ENGINE,SVG:All
    That's it, Quit Dreamweaver and open it up again. Open the .jspf file and see the color coding (syntax highlighting)
    Hope this helps you and seves you time figuring it out. If this helped, do a good thing, next time you figure something out, tell others about it to save their time too, like I did. Enjoy.

    I don't seem to have a user Library folder, my only Library folder is on the same level as my Users folder.
    From Locating your personal configuration folder in the Dreamweaver FAQ:
    In Mac OS X (Lion and Mountain Lion), open Finder and press Shift-Cmd-Go. Type ~/Library/Application Support in the dialog box, and click Go. You should then be able to find the configuration folder.

  • Errors when trying to INSERT Dreamweaver CS3 ASP scripts into MySql

    Greetings everyone,
    I am hoping that someone can shed some light on an issue I have not been able to solve in the last few days. I have a website that I had built using Ultradev, then MX then CS3, using the default ASP scripts in dreamweaver and an odbc connection to an Access Database. Everything had been working fine for the last couple of years until recently where more people were visiting my site which resulted in the slowness because i was using access. I decided to move to a MySql database and that is when I ran into issues. I was able to solve most everything accept for one issue I am having. I was hoping it would be an easy transition by changing the ODBC connections but it has not been that easy. Any page I have with an INSERT command using the default Dreamweaver CS3 ASP script results in an error. Now I can query and delete and search with no problem...it is just the INSERT that is giving me issues. Here is just a general insertion script that CS3 does by default....
    <%
    If (CStr(Request("MM_insert")) = "form1")Then
    If (Not MM_abortEdit) Then
    ' execute the insert
    Dim MM_editCmd
    Set MM_editCmd = Server.CreateObject ("ADODB.Command")
    MM_editCmd.ActiveConnection = MM_adsdata_STRING

    Thank you!

    Thanks for your reply!
    When it was in Access...the datatype was Text. I used a 3rd party software to convert Assess directly to my hosting MySql server. When I logged in to see the table in MySql, it is set to Varchar(3) for yeshot and Varchar(30) for userhot. There is also an extra field I used for the KEY called commentID which is set to int(11) and it is autonumbered. Under the Collation i have utf8_general_ci set on the yeshot and userhot field. Null is No on both and the Default is set to None and all 3 fields.
    I have a form I am collecting that data from which is:
    <% If (langname.Fields.Item("langname").Value)="FR" Then
             response.write("OUI!")
             else
             response.write("YES!")
             End if %>

             response.write("NON!")
             else
             response.write("NO!")
             End if %>
                                <input name="useridf" type="hidden" id="useridf" value="<%=(hotornot.Fields.Item("membername").Value)%>">

    </form>
    ....the form has 2 radio button and 1 hidden field where I collect the username. The radio value should either be a 1 or a 2 depending on the selection by the user. I also have a captha on the form but that does not seem the cause any problem since I am not collecting any data from it. Does this help? • Syntax Coloring for PHP in HTML Files

    I'd like consistent syntax color throughout my documents,
    which can be CSS, HTML or PHP. However, when I write PHP code into
    anything but a PHP document, it comes out in a single, or
    dual-color format making it much less "pretty", and not nearly as
    easy to read. HTML has CFM and ASP color options, but not PHP (and
    I don't want to have to format the color twice in preferences
    anyhow). I've tried grouping .html files in with the PHP/MySQL
    color grouping in the DocumentTypes setting (Dreamweaver
    8/Configuration/DocumentTypes), which works, but results in a crash
    each time I do anything but look at a document.
    Anyone experience this behavior, or better yet, have a
    solution to make Dreamwever's syntax color consistent within
    itself?
    BWT, this refers to Dreamweaver 8.0.2, Mac OS X 10.4.7. And
    the rest of the Studio is installed as well.

  • Help with MM_editCmd.CreateParameter insert syntax please

    In the past (I guess older ASP version maybe?), the
    automatically generated code that DW created using the "insert
    record" wizard allowed for easy editing and debugging within the
    SQL. I just installed CS3 and created a similar page and the code
    used to build the insert statement is quite different.
    Unfortunately, I'm not versed well enough in it yet!
    I can see how the SQL insert is being built:
    Set MM_editCmd = Server.CreateObject ("ADODB.Command")
    MM_editCmd.ActiveConnection = MM_wp_STRING
    MM_editCmd.CommandText = "INSERT INTO test (FName, LName,
    Company, Email, BPhone, BFax, MPhone, Props, regDate, Password,
    MBroker, MBID, Status, ARID) VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?,
    MM_editCmd.Prepared = true
    ...and then it appears to uses some scripting functions to
    build the values and replace the ?'s in the CommandText line:
    MM_editCmd.Parameters.Append
    MM_editCmd.CreateParameter("param1", 202, 1, 255,
    Request.Form("FName")) ' adVarWChar
    What I'm struggling with is the values inside each Append
    line (202, 1, 255) and what the relate to AND more importantly, how
    I can insert my own variable here instead of the form field data.
    ex:
    MM_editCmd.Parameters.Append
    MM_editCmd.CreateParameter("param1", 202, 1, 255, StrMyStringValue)
    ' adVarWChar
    I need help with the syntax. Would it be different if the
    variable holds a number value vs. text (assuming the field it's
    being inserted into hold numbers)
    Also, i USED to be able to add a handly little Response.Write
    before the execute insert line that would write the SQL insert
    statement to the screen and stop so that I could SEE where the
    issues were. I've tried:
    Response.Write(MM_editCmd.Parameters)
    Response.Write(MM_editCmd.CommandText)
    Just can't get the SQL text to display. Is the SQL insert
    statement not stored as a variable that i can call?
    Thanks VERY much for any help!

    You can use the concatenate() function to build up your string, as you no doubt know.
    As far as the wildcard goes ... your intention must be to try to SET the call variable and later on test the call variable with an IF node. Is that right?
    You would be able to test parts of the string using the substr() function - which is based on character position. If that is a fixed value that you know, it's easy. If it's not, you can first use the find() function to locate something (like the "_9"), returning the position, and then use the substr() function to pull it off.
    Can you write some pseudo-code here to define exactly your intention? You can set up a dummy script and send a dummy call through using Call Tracer and watch the output to see how your code is working.

  • Testing ASP pages in DW CS3?

    Hello.
    I need to start learning ASP, so I bought a book on it. I
    opened up a (very simple) sample ASP page from the accompanying CD
    ROM in Dreamweaver (CS3). The page opened and was viewable, but
    when I clicked F12 to preview in a browser, the page did not
    display. Attached is the full simple code that's on the page. Is
    there something else that I need to do in order to get this to
    work? Thanks!...

    boss wanted to me

    > picked.
    In general, just picking a new language isn't the key to
    stimulating new
    ideas for app development.
    A better approach would be to pick new app development
    methods and/or
    consider looking at all the various application frameworks
    out there.
    ASP is pretty much identical to PHP in terms of basic
    premise. ASP isn't
    being developed by MS anymore, though.
    ASP.net is the replacement and is an Object Oriented
    Programming language
    ala JAVA.
    Ruby On Rails is a trendy option these days, so maybe look at
    that. It's the
    Ruby language written on top of the Rails application
    framework. Lots of
    proponents of it out there.
    > Are ASP and PHP basically the same (I mean, in what they
    can achieve)?
    In terms of 'what they can achieve' pretty much ANY web
    programming language
    is going to be 90% alike.
    In terms of syntax/logic, ASP and PHP are very close, so no
    real benefit in
    learning ASP in too much depth (especially since it's not
    really developed
    by MS anymore).
    > a fairly true statement that learning ASP.net after
    knowing PHP may just
    > be a
    > waste of time?
    ASP.net is king in the corporate enterprise application
    development world.
    If that's a direction your company wants to target/head in,
    then it makes
    sense. If you need to integrate tightly with Microsoft's
    other offerings
    (office, sharepoint, active directory, MS SQL, etc.) then
    ASP.net makes
    perfect sense.
    Otherwise, I'd say PHP is a really safe place to be. It has a
    HUGE market
    share, constantly being updated, and so many commercial and
    open source
    add-ons at your disposal.

  • Help with ASP Insert Into Command

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to get the following command (insert into) to
    work, but am having
    no joy. I would be greatful if you could highlight what i
    have done wrong.
    Its an for an ASP site using an MS SQL database -
    <%
    if(Session("BATCHID2") <> "") then
    insertaccountinvoice__MMColParam =
    Session("BATCHID2")
    if(Session("SITEID") <> "") then
    insertaccountinvoice__MMColParam2 =
    Session("SITEID")
    %>
    <%
    set insertaccountinvoice =
    Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Command")
    insertaccountinvoice.ActiveConnection = MM_recruta2_STRING
    insertaccountinvoice.CommandText = "INSERT INTO
    dbo.JBAccountInvoice
    (JBACISiteID, JBACIClientID, JBACIAccountType,
    JBACIAccountOverwrite,
    JBACIBillingContact, JBACIClientName, JBACIClientAddress,
    JBACIClientEmail,
    JBACIBatchID) VALUES (dbo.JBClient(JBCLSiteID, JBCLID,
    JBCLAccountType,
    JBCLreguserMonthlyOverwrite, JBCLBillingContact, JBCLName,
    JBCLAddress,
    JBCLEmail ), " + Replace(insertaccountinvoice__MMColParam,
    "'", "''") + "
    WHERE JBCLSiteID = '" +
    Replace(insertaccountinvoice__MMColParam2, "'", "''")
    + "' and JBCLAccountLive = 'y' and (JBCLAccountType = 'Reg
    User' OR
    JBCLAccountType = 'Reg User5' OR JBCLAccountType = 'Reg
    User10' OR
    JBCLAccountType = 'Multi User')) "
    insertaccountinvoice.CommandType = 1
    insertaccountinvoice.CommandTimeout = 0
    insertaccountinvoice.Prepared = true
    insertaccountinvoice.Execute()
    %>
    <% Response.Redirect("
    http://www.recruta.co.uk")
    %>

    In general, the syntax for this kind of insert is:
    insert into t1 (a,b,c)
    select a,b,c from t2 where a=5

  • Help!  Syntax Error in SQL statement

    Hello. I'm getting an error message and I'm just not seeing
    where I went wrong. The SQL statement is:
    updateSQL = "UPDATE TrainingHistory SET Status='" &
    fFormat(Request.Form(cStatus)) & "', StatusComments='" &
    fFormat(Request.Form(cStatusComments)) & " WHERE Training_ID="
    & fFormat(Request.Form(cTrainingID))
    The error message is:
    [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Syntax error in
    string in query expression '' WHERE Training_ID=9054'.
    I've been looking at it for a while. Not sure where I went
    wrong. Here is a more complete version of the code:
    <%
    Function fFormat(vText)
    fFormat = Replace(vText, "'", "''")
    End Function
    Sub sRunSQL(vSQL)
    set cExecute = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Command")
    With cExecute
    .ActiveConnection = MM_coldsuncrea_lms_STRING
    .CommandText = vSQL
    .CommandType = 1
    .CommandTimeout = 0
    .Prepared = true
    .Execute()
    End With
    End Sub
    If Request.Form("action")="update" Then
    'Set variables for update
    Dim updateSQL, i
    Dim cTrainingID, cStatus, cStatusComments
    'Loop through records on screen and update
    For i = 1 To fFormat(Request.Form("counter"))
    'Create the proper field names to reference on the form
    cTrainingID = "Training_ID" & CStr(i)
    cStatus = "Status" & CStr(i)
    cStatusComments = "StatusComments" & CStr(i)
    'Create the update sql statement
    updateSQL = "UPDATE TrainingHistory SET Status='" &
    fFormat(Request.Form(cStatus)) & "', StatusComments='" &
    fFormat(Request.Form(cStatusComments)) & " WHERE Training_ID="
    & fFormat(Request.Form(cTrainingID))
    'Run the sql statement
    Call sRunSQL(updateSQL)
    Next
    'Refresh page
    Response.Redirect("ClassUpdateRoster.asp?Training_ID=") &
    (rsClassDetails.Fields.Item("event_ID").Value)
    End If
    %>

    You need another single quote after the double quote before
    the WHERE clause. You are not closing the single quote you used to
    delimit the value for StatusComments.

  • How to use OraSession for a high-traffic IIS/ASP site

    Guys,
    I am running into scalability issues with our production web server. The ASP requests queued keeps growing to crash the IIS eventually atleast once a day. We don't have any custom COM components and we believe database is not the bottleneck.
    We are using one OraSession object in the Application scope as follows:
    <OBJECT RUNAT="Server" SCOPE="Application" ID="OraSession" PROGID="OracleInProcServer.XOraSession"></OBJECT>
    Sub Application_OnStart
    OraSession.CreateDatabasePool 1, 120, 600, "TEST", "scott/tiger", 0
    End Sub
    We are calling OraSession.GetDatabaseFromPool(9000) whenever we need a database connection. I believe this object since it runs on single thread is unable to handle too much load.
    What's the best way of using OraSession/OraServer/OraDatabase objects for a high-traffic web site? The documentation doesn't have enough information. One interesting statement was that "Calling openDatabase method and attaching multiple user sessions(OraDatabase) after an OraServer object is created is useful with IIS like n-tier distributed environments" What does this mean?
    I appreciate any help.
    Thanks
    Krishna

    Hi iLac,
    I'm not sure what you meant by reverse engineering the browser's interactions with the site, but anything you can do within a browser you can feasibly do through scripts without resorting to a GUI. I'll mention a few tools that will help you out and briefly describe how you can use them to achieve what you want, although a bit more of a specific question may help. Anywhoo...
    First up I'd recommend Firebug for Firefox. A great tool that will let you visually inspect different elements of a rendered page in your browser to see the source code underneath. It also allows you to edit the page so you can test form input. (For example changing a Post to Get request to see the syntax.
    Next is "Live HTML Headers" which is also an addon for Firefox. Setting it to record and then clicking on a link will log all interaction between your browser and the website (eg. cookies, browser/system info, redirects etc.). You can really see what is going on behind the scenes.
    Finally you are going to want to use cURL which is a command line tool in the Terminal. Here is a like to a tutorial which will cover what you need [[http://curl.haxx.se/docs/httpscripting.html]] Basically cURL can interact with websites and download the source code for you (you will have to spoof cookies, and all other session info which could be a little difficult depending on the site, if you have to log in etc.).
    And that is about it. Using those three resources you can get anything off the web you can get with a browser. You just need to write an applescript to run the right cURL commands and extract the info from the HTML.
    If you have any other questions or need clarification or more help feel free to ask. Perhaps with a bit more detail on what exactly you are trying to achieve. My experience comes from auto updating homemade sports pools.
    Good Luck.
