Asset and Inventory accounts

Experts,
Is there anyway you can clear these accounts or post to these accounts? - I understand that these are recon accounts and cannot be directly posted to. I am looking for a way to clear these recon accounts like for AR and AP ( Sub Ledger) accounts, we can clear them by vendor/customer # - Is there anyway we can clear these recon accounts i.e for Asset and Inventory. If so, what's the T Code?
All answers would be duly rewarded with points.
Thanks,
Nandita

Nimit,
I was just giving an example of how we can clear AR and AP accounts(F-04 or F-44) - AR and AP accounts have nothing to do with Inventory and Asset accounts in our scenario. So is there anyway we can clear Asset and Inventory accounts in SAP ?
The reason i am saying this is i need to clear the balance of all accounts in a Co Cd using a clearing account - When i am saying all accounts, i am talking about all accounts including sub ledger accounts - AP, AR, Inventory and Sub Ledger.
AP and AR - i can take care of this by using vendor and customer number, as i cannot clear them by their accounts... However how do i do it for asset and inventory accounts ? Is there a way and if so how - tcode?
Thanks,
Nandita

  • Entering a PO for Asset and Accrual accounts

    Hi,
We need to enter purchase order for an Asset & Accrual accounts which do not belong to either a cost center, nor a
work order. We are now entering these invoices without going thru the PO System.
Any suggestions on this issue would be helpful.
    Thanks

For accruals, you make an accrual entry which would Debit expense / Credit Liability,
and then the following month that entry will reverse. These are usually set up as automatic reversing entries. Then
when the AP invoice is processed, it will be coded to the expense account which is a Debit to Expense and Credit to
Vendor, but since there will be an accrual reversal posted in the same account they will offset and if equal, net out to
zero, if the amounts differ, then that difference hits the P/L at that point. It is clean and efficient. You don't have to
review the accrual account to match up payments against accruals, etc.
We cannot directly post to the Fixed Assets Balance Sheet Accounts. The PO would need to be
coded directly to an Asset number, or to an internal order that would settled to the Fixed Asset system. The best
practice SAP offers for capital expenditures is to use internal order for all purchases. The amounts post to the order,
and are then settled to the balance sheet sytematically. This give you better reporting capabilites on your capital
expenditures, and also makes the process run more efficiently.
This is what I found in one of the other forums.

we have tried and checked different solutions in their test database, and we are still getting this error.

    Hi Jill,
You can refer to Note No. [1090171|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1odSZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1090171]
    part for your issue :
"Expense and Inventory Account (in Purchasing tab -> General tab)- this account is used only for the Moving Average Valuation method when Inventory items are drawn from A/P Invoice into A/P Credit Memo and there is a difference between the item price in the base document and the item price in the target document. In such case the Inventory account is being credited for the original itemprice as appears in the A/P Invoice and the Expense and Inventory account is debited for the price difference between the Inventory posting and the item price in the A/P Credit Memo. In addition, this account is used for the following scenarios: A/P Credit Memo based on goods returns and A/P Credit Memo based on A/P Reserve invoice."
    Hope above will help.

  • Catch Weight Management - CWM: Classic Accounting VS Inventory Accounting

    Hello dear experts,
The info below was extracted from this link: SAP Catch Weight Management - SAP Library
    The link says:
To implement SAP CWM, you need the following components:
    · SAP ERP Central Component (SAP ECC)
    · LIME as a component of SAP AP (for inventory management)
    · Inventory Accounting based on SAP SEM
After you have installed the components you must activate the SAP CWM solution at client level.
I understand that you have to "install" LIME and Inventory Accounting in order to activate CWM, but my question is:
Do we have to "implement/use" Inventory Accounting in order to use CWM? or is Inventory Accounting just an option that is offered with CWM and the only requirement is to "install it but not necessarily implement/use it"?
We are currently operating under Classic Accounting and we would like to stay like that for the moment, but we would also like to implement CWM, so we're looking for some guidance.
Can we use Classic Accounting and CWM together?
This is the last piece of info we need before we make a decision as to whether or not to implement CWM.

    Hi
You cannot user REM for CWM material types.  For others you can stil use.

  • Asset accounting and Inventory management.

Hi gurus, I need your advice.
We want to control our inventory and our fixed assets in order to be able to match the amounts between both modules. The main difficulty is that not all the items we register into the inventory module generate a fixed asset (we have sixty thousand inventory items and seven thousand fixed assets).
The way I have thought to solve it is the next: currently we have and asset class per Fixed Asset GL Account. I want to create two asset classes per GL Account, one for the fixed assets that are into the Inventory Module and other for the Fixed Assets that aren´t in the Inventory Module.
Do you think it is ok or do you have a better/easier solution??
    Many thanks in advance.
    BR//Alberto.

Since you mention there is an inventory module, and there is a fixed assets module - consider that the two are very different.
Inventory is merchandise for sale.  When its costs are recognized, those costs are recorded as costs of sale or costs of goods sold.  Inventory can be purchased or it can be constructed, but when we sell the items to customers we recognize both the revenue and the costs at the same time.  The gross margin is the net gross profit or loss.  Inventory has no depreciation.
Fixed assets are capital assets used by the organization to do the things the firm is in the business of doing.  The tools used to build/construct inventory are capital assets (used in more than one year).  Fixed assets will not be sold as a main purpose of the organization.  Only inventory is sold as a main purpose of the organization to earn a profit.  Since fixed assets benefit the organization for more than one year, we spread the costs over all those years in which revenue is generated by the fixed asset use.  This is the matching principle to recognize costs when the revenue is recognized.  To achieve this, we use the AFAR and AFAB depreciation process to spread that APC value across all periods that will benefit from the "tools."
I think you are already using MM for your inventory module.  There can be different classes of inventory just as there can be different classes of fixed assets in SAP.  Each class has its own reconciling account.  Each is its own subsidiary ledger/listing of items that sum to the balance in the reconciling account.  Subledger transactions will automatically update the reconciling account balances for the class - whether we are talking fixed assets or inventory.
I hope this can help, since it sounded like the terminology was confusing.  Neither SAP or accounting is simple.  Regards

  • Assets management and inventory Management.

This may be simple situation often encountered in industries. The need is to manage an item as an asset as well as manage inventory functions of purchasing, receiving, physical inventory and issue of these assets to customers as inventory materials. The materials are also needed to accounted for depreciation functions.
Can experts throw some light on the kind of best practice process flows that we could often consider.
    Thanks in advance for contributors.

Good questions: I think I need to explain the full scenario.
This is for a health care industry. The intention is to purchase the materials as assets and these come from different vendors, but often, it could be the same material. The current thinking is as follows:
    1. Forecast the reqiuirement of the materials according the different sizes. For example : small, medium and large.  Each of these sizes could come from different vendors with different model numbers, but are groupd under the sizes.
    2. Based on the forecast probably using APO, the materials are purchased in ERP for these sizes. But we still need to carry the vendor model number as part of the attributes of the materisl. Here there seems to be three options.
    - One is to use Material classification and use capture the model number of the vendor.
    - second is to utilise the Form Fit Function functionality of SAP IS for A&D.
    - Third potential option might be to use Batch management and capture manufacturer number in batch characteristic.
Once the materials are purchases these are settled to assets and then there is a need to manage their inventory as the requirement is to utilise Logistic execution functionality including sales, delivery and goods issue functionality. In addition the materials also  need to be transferred between different  SAP plant locations.
There is also a challenge to manage the requirement as more often, the need is for just the size. but sometime there is a requirement for a specific model within a particular size.
I am not too sure whether there is an absolute need to manage seralisation for individual material numbers, but from asset management perspective, is there a need> Pl clarify
Any comments / suggestions on the above is very welcome.
Appreciate your time and thinking and value contribution.

  • Inventory Audit Report and Inventory G/L Account discrepancy

    Good Day!
Hi Everybody. I had experienced a discrepancy between the Inventory Audit Report and Inventory G/L Account.
Before everything else, our client does not have any PO, GRPO. Only A/P Invoice and A/P Credit Memos so there are no difference being posted.
There were also no transactions posted directly in Inventory G/L Account but from observation, there is a minor difference. This only happened with two transactions in AP Invoice with Negative Quantity.
The AP Invoice is composed of a single item, the unit price is 180.00 x -58 pcs quantity. Total amount is -10,440.00.
    G/L Account posting is
    Inventory 10,440.00
    A/P                       10,440.00
In the FIFO layering, the item cost is 200.00 (based on the current stock value) and the current stock quantity before posting is 80 pcs . Since this is a negative quantity A/P Invoice, it seems that the cost of the item when the transaction will be posted is  200 (based on the current stock value) so when I view the Inventory Audit Report amount, it says the inventory cost/posting is -11,600 (200 x -58).
But on actual G/L Account, the posting is -10,440.00 from A/P Invoice, that's why the inventory discrepancy occurs. It seems that SAP B1's Inventory Audit Report confuses the FIFO cost posted versus G/L Account's posted based on the document. Since the document is A/P Invoice, SAP B1 assumes that the transaction will post the amount as the additional inventory cost and posting the inventory cost into Inventory G/L Account. However, since this is a negative document, the system is releasing the items, thus, FIFO kicks in. The Inventory Audit Report catches the amount based on FIFO costing. The problem is that the Inventory Audit Report is more accurate than the Inventory G/L Balance.
Any suggestion to fix this guys?

  • What is the purpose of Clearing and Revenue account in Asset Disposal : F-92?

    Hi All,
    Please clarify my doubt ;
In Asset Disposal - Sale to Customer : F-92 with customer
Suppose an asset with historical cost $1000 and accumulated depreciation of $100 is being sold to a customer at $1100, the posting entries will be as follows :
    Dr     Customer Account (A/R)                    1,100
    Dr     Accumulated Depreciation                    100
Cr     Fixed Asset - Acquisition Cost           1,000-
Cr     Gain/Loss of Fixed Asset Disposal       200-
Dr     Clearing Account for Asset Disposal   1,100
Cr     Revenue for Asset Disposal                1,100-
I completely understand the first four line items, but don't know the purpose or the 5th and 6th line items.
Please explain why we need a clearing and revenue account for asset disposal and what would be the impact of these accounts in asset accounting?
    Thanks in advance !!!
    Regards,
    Vicki

    Hi Vicki
This is just a technical account, which gets Dr and Cr in the same document
The purpose is just to tell you how much asset sale has happened during the year.. You can get this info by looking at the GL Account
Since Asset Module is a sub ledger, the asset needs to be retired. At the same time, the FI-GL also should show the needed info from accounting perspective
While the required GL entry is completed with the 1st 4 line items, the 5th and 6th are just the statistical ones

  • Asset report - with asset G/L accounts connected for gross value and amorti

  • FSV-bank account both in asset and liability

    Hi
In our financial statement ,B/S -the bank main account is defined in Current assets under assets. And also they have defined this bank account number under liability.
Is it right? Can same bank account be under Asset and also Liability. If so under what situations.
At both the balances the report F.01 shows value for this account with change in the signs in Asset and liability.
    Please suggest the right approach.

    Hello,
It all depends how you need it.
You can configure this on assets side by selecting debit as well as credit check boxes. Then the net of debit and credit will appear.
If you want to show this account in both the sides, that means on the assets as well as liabilities side.
Then assets side only tick debit
In the liabilities side only tick credit.
Then if there is a positive cash balance then it would show as asset
If there is a negative (overdraft) balance then it would show as liability.

    Ravi

  • What is the difference between /assets/account/import and /data/account ?

Does anybody knows what is the use of /assets/account/import and /data/account.
What is the difference between these two and their functional use.
    thanks

/assets/account/import is used in the context of performing account file uploads through the E10 UI. If you navigate to Contacts > Accounts > and click Upload in the top right corner (above search), you'll get the upload wizard:
The moment you click the cloud icon and select a file, two actions take place:
    1) POST to /assets/account/import is made, where you are passing the name, import source and purpose of the import. The response includes the id of the new import object you created
    2) Another POST to /assets/account/import/{id}/csv is made, which includes the data in your chosen file
Afterwards, you perform the mappings and go to step 4 of the wizard. When you click Finish, another two actions take place:
    1) PUT /assets/account/import/{id} to update the import definition with your mappings from Step 3
    2) POST to /assets/account/import/{id}/queue to send this import into the import/upload queue. At this point it becomes visible from Setup > Integration > Inbound > Reporting > Upload History
Note that this workflow is not meant for client use, but rather helps facilitate UI functionality for marketing users. You should be using Bulk API to add or update records, which also confers other advantages such as the ability to use syncActions. The only functionality not available in Bulk API which is available through this workflow is the ability to delete Accounts. For obvious reasons, its recommend that you do NOT automate the deletion of any records. Accounts especially are not subject to any band limits or rates, so its best to have Marketers remove them as needed.
Regarding the second part of your question, the /data/accounts endpoint will provide you with up to 1000 account records when using GET. A POST can also be made to create a new account record (company) within Eloqua. Otherwise, GET /data/account/{id} will retrieve the details of a particular record and PUT /data/account{id} will update a particular.
    Best regards,
    Bojan
