Asset Scrapping - Calculating Depreciation for entire year

Hi guys
We want to scrap an asset without revenue using ABAVN.
Asset Details:
The asset will be completely depreciated by the end of this year (December)
We have smoothing indicator on.
We wish to post the retirement and close out the asset balances in this month itself.
(No depreciation should be pending for the remaining periods of the year)
When we post the retirement transaction in test environment, it still shows the planned depreciation for the entire year.
How do we avoid the planned depreciation posting for future periods ?
Thanks!
Gautam

Perhaps, the following might be a solution that can be implemented safely in a production setup:
Objective: To post retirement related depreciation in a single period without smoothing over the remaining periods.
Solution:
Perform standard depreciation posting run for current period
Turn Smoothing Indicator Off
Write Off Asset
Run Repeat Depreciation Posting Run (select Repeat Posting Run instead of planned and also input the retired asset number)
Turn Smoothing Indicator back on
This should post the complete depreciation in the current period for the retired asset and smooth out the depreciation for all remaining assets

  • Customizing setting 'Recalculate depreciation for previous years'

    Dear Experts,
I have requirement where for tax depreciation areas we want the system to recalculate the depreciation for previous years. For e.g.
Asset acquired on 7/1/06 with value 10000
    Useful life: 5 years
Take over date in asset accounting: 9/30/2008
With the above example, I want the system to show me depreciaiton values for the years 2006 and 2007 also in transaction AW01N (Asset Explorer), apart from 2008.
In FI-AA customizing, I have enabled the relevant depreciation areas for recalculation in the node 'Recalculate Depreciation for Previous Years' (Transaction OAYF).
However, when I create the legacy asset and maintain the takeover values, the system just shows me depreciation for 2008 and onwards.
Is there something I am missing? Please advice. I have searched the SAP help and SAP notes, but did not find anything.
    Regards,
    Vishal.

This is not possible.  When you takeover an asset using AS91, it is creating an ANLC entry for that year only.  2008 in your case.  Regardless of when the asset was originally acquired, SAP will only let you report on it back to 2008.
This concept is no different than any other FI/CO legacy conversion.  If the customer is going live on Jan 1st 2008 but they want to do monthly comparison reporting in SAP (Jan 07 and Jan 08), then they need to convert 2007 data.  If they want 2006, they need to load that too.  Etc.
For FI-AA, if the customer wants to view data back to 2006 you would have to change the takeover date to that year and adjust the data as well (accumulated depreciation).

  • Update Manually planned ordinary depreciation for the year - TC - ABCO

    Hello Asset's Gurus.
I need to update a Manually planned ordinary depreciation for the year (ANLC-NAFAM).
I'm looking for a BAPI  that will do this update.
I'm using Batch-Input right now with transaction code - ABCO , and I'm having a lot of problems such as updating only some of the selected assets - (no memory problem - no DUMP) while others remaining unchanged.
Please help me find a BAPI  that can do this job.
    The system is ECC6.
    Thanks ahead.

    I have used Batch Input...

  • System not calculating depreciation for assets

The system is not calculating any depreciation or even showing planned depreciation values under asset explorer.
Problem is in QAS client checked configuration and all settings are fine and in test client all is fine system is calculating depreciation. Please help thank you

Hi, check in AW01N in Posted values tab when last depr was posted and when next planed.
May be acquisition was in the next period from period in which you're trying to post depr. Or may be the case in Period control method, I mean that depr'd  be calculated quarterly

  • Posting Depreciation for last year in the current year

    Hi,
We have a situation in which we have to book depreciation for assets that were put into service since last year in the current year. The depreciation expense was accrued and reported when the year was closed out. However SAP wouldnt allow us to calculate the depreciation for anything before 01/01/2009. The assets were put into service in July of last year and hence we need to post 6 months of depreciation that we accrued last year in this posting period (when we will be capitalizing those assets). How do we go about doing this?
    Here is what we tried:
    1. Manual Depreciation: Doesnt work. The depreciation key we are using (LINA) doesnt allow manual depreciation
    2. Changing the ordinary dep start date: You can change this date to last year but it wont calculate the depreciation from last year. It just starts the useful life from last year. The depreciation that is being caught up starts from 01/01/2009
    3. Unplanned Depreciation: This is not an option because it goes to a different G/L account. The client wants it to be in the regular depreciation expense account only.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
So far my knowledge goes there is no way wherein you can capitalise assets in currnet year and account for dep from the previous year unless you go for post capitalisation vide ABNAN.Let me try to explain it by the following example.
    FY: April to March
    APC 10000/
    Rate od dep   10%
    Ord dep Start   01.10.08.
Asset capitalisation date 01.10.08 but posted in the system on,  say   01.04.09.
    Line items for ABNAN
    70   Asset A/c     10000
    75   Acc Dep                          500(on 10000 @ 10% for 6 months)
50 Rev for post capitalisation 9500.
    FB60 Line items.
    31   Vendor Account       10000
    40  Prior per dep                   500
40  Rev from post capitalisation  9500.
I do hope you will be able to clear your confussion.
    With best wishes

  • Depreciation for the year to be posted halfly

    Hi Guys
In my implementation we have a scenrio, the depreciation for a particular depreciation area has to be done halfly i.e. only on period 06 & 12
I have done necessary configure for the weightage and for the relevant depreciation area
OAYL - i have clicked the check box for the relveant depreciation area
OA85 - i have given the weightage for the period 06 & 12 as 50% and for all the other period as 0
But when i run the depreciation AFAB - the deprecation is getting posted from the very first period
Did i missed any config guys
    Thanks in advance
    Warm Regards
    Bala

    Hi Bala,
When I look to your example you can use a nomal depreciation key like LINR. In the asset you have to say start at the middle of a year. Like on 01-07-XXXX.
In the period control from your depreciation key you can use start at the middle of the year. When the fiscal year is not the same as the calendar year you have to define that in the period controls.
When you create a posting then the depreciation keys looks to the period controle table and fill in automtatecly depreciation start date.
When this is in all the years you have to say
    years month
    0          6         0%
    1                     50%
    1          6         0%
    2                     50%
It is then important that the depreciation start date is the first day of the fiscal year.
For tessting this you can better use the esset exploirer. There you can see the planed values by month for this year and the years tottals for the other year.

  • Bonus Depreciation for the year 2010

    Hello Gurus,
I need to configure for the bonus depreciation based on the newly enacted US law 2010. The requirement is, for the asset purchased between 3rd Jan 2010 through 07th Sept 2010, the bonus depreciation need to be calculated @50% as special depreciation. The balance need to be depreciated as ordinary depreciation for 2010 and the remaining periods. For the assets purchased between the period 08th Sept to 31st dec 2010, the bonus depreciation need to be100%.
Please let me know the step by step configuration that need to be done for:
    1. Depreciation key M20S.
    2. The base method to be maintained
    3. The multilevel method
    4. The period control method for depreciating the values for the above mentioned dates
    5. The bonus depreciation need to be calculated only for 2010 and should not be calculated for 2011 and onwards.
Also please let me know if there is any SAP note for 2010 Bonus depreciation calculation
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,

  • ITunes 7.4.1 hangs & has been doing so for entire year!

I am running a dual processor G4 machine with OS X 10.3.9. I have gone through many updates of iTunes and Quicktime, and always my problem remains. I have heard there may be a trigger relating to network activity, but I have yet to read anything on the issue that would clarify whether it relates to what I am about to describe. (In case it is relevant, however, I am on a network that serves to link printers and a cable modem between my Mac and some Windows PCs via ethernet — but this "network" does not involve logging into a remote host.)
Okay, so here's the first of what is a twofold problem: If I want to use iTunes at all, I have to reboot my machine and launch iTunes immediately thereafter so that it loads before any other apps are launched. Even if I do not launch any apps after bootup, simply walking away and coming back later will trigger the problem of iTunes refusing to complete startup. So the gist of it is that if I fail to launch iTunes right after the computer boots, I will see the library load, the status bar complete successfully, and then, at the point where the app/window should appear… nothing. Not even an error message.
The Activity Monitor simply states that iTunes has hung. To get rid of the spinning beach ball, I have to force iTunes to quit. Whenever the launch hangs up in this manner, I cannot even restart my machine because the logout will time out because iTunes is "not responding".
The second component to this problem is that even if I reboot my computer and successfully launch iTunes — which, as I said, is the only way to make it work — I must continue using iTunes without interruption. Why? Because if I let the iTunes app go idle — say if I leave the computer for more than five minutes or launch another application — iTunes, upon my return, will "stop responding"… and again all I see is the spinning beach ball.
As mentioned, there is no error messages whatsoever. In fact, when I view my crash log even the info. I find there (see below) is outdated. I cannot find anything more current than the error that was reported in March of this year (which, incidentally, is probably when all this started — about the same time OS 10.3.9 was installed to a fresh hard drive and my iTunes library was restored to my new drive using my iPod in conjunction with a third party app that spells iTunes backwards… but that's another story).
Please keep in mind that I know next to nothing about UNIX command lines/troubleshooting. I've been using Macs since the '80s and was pretty good at troubleshooting all things pre-OS X, but when OS X came out Apple lost me.
Thus far what I have done mostly amounts to repeatedly verifying/repairing disk permissions (using the install CD). Of course, if repairing permissions had helped, I wouldn't be here . I also downloaded and installed a fresh copy of QuickTime, but that didn't help, either. I've also run all the utilities, and everything turns up fine (I ONLY use OS X for Web surfing and iTunes; there are very few third-party apps installed).
So now that I have given the circumstances, I will conclude this post with a sample from my console/crashlog. It dates back to March and isn't current, but hopefully it provides a clue as to why I've gone through all the iTunes/Quicktime updates and still see the exact same problem persist:

Thanks again for any clues/tips you can provide! I've been dealing with this iTunes startup issue for the entire year thus far, but never had any such issues under Jaguar!

I finally stumbled across a fix for this problem, and in case someone else is frustrated at some point by a similar issue I'm posting what finally worked to enable me to bring iTunes up at any time (without rebooting first).
The solution was to go to the preferences to uncheck "search for shared libraries".
I'm glad the problem is fixed, but Apple developers really should include a timeout function on iTunes search for a shared libraries. At least a visual dialog to confirm that the application is in the process of searching for a shared library on the network would help provide clues as to what is causing the spinning beach ball to appear right about the time the application window should pop up.

  • Pay iCloud storage for entire year, not Monthly...

    Hey all,
In our family, we have 4 different iCloud storage upgrades that we have. each month we get the $.99 charge for each account. I would rather pay for the entire year for each of the accounts at once instead of these little monthly charges each month. i have checked in my account settings in iTunes as well as on the apple store web site and can not find anywhere to try and do this. Has anyone else been able to just pay the entire year up front or at once instead of the monthly charges? Is it an option?, If not, why can't i just make 1 payment a year like i used to in stead of these 12 monthly payments?
    Thanks,
    Gian

From the following it appears possible only if you had an annual plan prior to September 10, 2014 and have not needed to make any change to that plan:

  • How to calculate 10% of depreciation for first year and 20% going forward

Certain categories are using flat rate depreciation. One category requires 10% of depreciation to be calculated in the first year of addition and 20% going forward. How to define this in Oracle?
    Thanks

    Hello.
Create a depreciation method with Method Type = Table.

  • Revaluation of depreciation for prior year in alternative depreciation area

    Hi,
I have a problem with a couple of assets. We are using 2 depreciation areas - one for statutory depreciation that is posted against GL accounts and one for fiscal purposes, which is only statistical.
For some assets the depreciation key in the alternative, fiscal depreciation area was wrong in last two fiscal years. Is it possible to reopen that old fiscal years and change the depreciation area to correct one and revaluate the depreciation only in that parallel depreciation area? If yes - which steps should i carry out in SAP? This depreciation area does not affect GL accounts posting - so I hope it is possible.
    Thank you,
    Karol

    Hi Murali,
    Thank you for your reply.
My only concern is - I don't want to affect the other depreciation areas (in case anything changed in their depreciation keys).
Is there a way to just open past years only for this particular depreciation area and to rerun depreciation just for it?
I thought of OAAR transaction - undo year end closing by Depreciation area - just to focus on it. Do you think it might work the same as AJRW, or should I use AJRW?
Can I  run AFAR only for the selected depreciation area and it will not affect any other depreciaton area? We are using 4.6C version.
    Thank you,
    Karol

  • Can we close Fiscal Year for Assets without posting Depreciation?

    Hi All,
My client has 11 Company Codes. During the year end activity, I closed the FY of Assets for 10 Co. codes (T.code AJAB) and 1 is pending as depreciation is not posted for some assets yet. The client wants me to close the FY for assets without posting the depreciation.
Can anyone guide me on following doubts:
    1. Is it possible to Close FY for assets without posting depn?
    2. If YES, then what can be the adverse consequences of it?
    3. If NO, then what is the alternative reply I can give to my client?
I hope the above info. is sufficient.

    Hi All,
Finally I got the solution. I had to do some off track adjustment which might not be allowed otherwise. After getting that confirmation from the client that:
    1. They want to post zero values towards Depreciation for the year 2007              &
    2. After closing the year, later on there wont be any adjustments for the closed FY 2007
When client gave me above confirmation i did following steps:
1.Note down the Current Depreciation Key of the asset
2.Change the current depreciation key to u201C0000 - No depreciation and no interestu201D (TC: AS02)
3.Close the fiscal year 2007 (TC: AJAB)
4.Change the u201COrdinary Depreciation Startu201D date to 01.04.2008 for ALL the Depreciation Areas of that asset (AS02)
    5. Restore the Depreciation Keys of the assets as per the step 1 (TC: AS02)
6.Open New Fiscal Year 2009 (TC: AJRW)
So now the depreciation will be calculated from 01.04.2008 and no values are posted towards depreciation for the year 2007.
Off course in the normal course of time above solutions are useful.

  • How to stop Depreciation for some assets & start again.

    Dear Friends,
We have a requirement where we have to stop Depreciation for some assets as they are not in use and again post depreciation when they put in use.
For ex: Asset Value is 10,000 and monthly Depreciation is 100. Asset has been depreciated for first 6 periods in year with 100 each in every month & we want to stop depreciation for coming 3 months and post depreciation when they put in use. Asset should not be depreciated when they are not in use and calculate regular 100 if we run depreciation again if we put in use. So total Depreciation of the asset for the year should be 900 (First 6 Months & last 3 months).
Please explain step by step process to do this and your kind cooperation to solve this issue is highly appreciated.
Points will be rewarded for sure if my problem solves.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Naveen Kumar.

Go to AS03 Asset Master/Dep tab and observe the dep key
Goto AFAMA and select that dep key and click on assignment of calculation methods
You can see last row for shutdown field and select YES
Go to asset master at AS02/Time dependent data and select shutdown check box and enter period
If shutdown check box is not available goto as03 and goto menu environment-screen layout and master data and identify the screen layout number
Go to SPRO-Financial Accounting (New)-Asset Accounting-Master Data-Screen Layout-Define Screen Layout for Asset Master Data-Define Screen Layout for Asset Master Data-
Select your screen layout and click on logical field groups and select 3 (Time dependent data) and click on field group rules and make shutdown field as optional.
This will allow you to change the shutdownfield asset master data.
