Assign assets to multiple Tax books and Depreciation rates

How do we assign an asset to multiple tax books at a time when Populating Oracle Assets with asset information obtained from a legacy system ? Customer has given different depreciation values to the different tax books.

Hi,
you can use initial Mass copy and periodic mass copy once you have data in your coporate book.
Thanks

  • Ordering multiple (different) books and 1 calender to one adres

    Hello there
What to do if I want to send multiple different books and one calender, all to my self. I would like it to be just one shipping instead of four. After uploading your photobook there isn't a button like: would like to order anything more?
but in this case I would!
Does anybody have a suggestion ore a workaround?
    thanks Yuri
    Ilife '06 - 2 duplicate books, 2 different ones and a calender.

    Yuri:
There's nothing you can do. Apple has no setup for multiple items in one order and ship. Each item has to be a separate item. They probably setup it up that way to avoid the difficulties of tracking multiple and different items and getting them assembled for shipping and speed up getting each item out the door to the customer.
You can post a suggestion regarding that at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application, iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Differing asset tax book and accounting book when the currency is foreign

    Hi Asset Gurus,
My company has this requirement that when the asset is acquired in foreign currency there will be acquisition posting on Accounting Book (area 01) but zero on the Tax Book (area 15).  They said this is in conformance with the reporting standard.  Can anyone give me an idea how can this be done in the asset accounting?  Do I need to setup new depreciation area just for this requirement?
    Thanks,
    Aloy

Thanks AP for your reply.  Please bear with me a little bit as I still don't see the complete picture.  Currently this is what's happening:
When the acquisition is made in foreign currency, both depreciation area 01 (accounting book) and area 15 (tax book) gets updated with local currency value (APC).  Now the requirement is to make tax book area not posted to everytime this situation happens.  We don't really need to have the foreign currency amount reflected in the asset.
Given the requirement description above, do you still think parallel currency in FI and additional depreciation area would be the solution?  If yes, could you kindly expound further on that solutions please?
Thanks a lot for your help.

  • Multiple address books and/or Editing multiple address book entries

Two questions from a neophyte to Address Book:
    1) Is there any way to make a "bulk change" to multiple entries in an address book (e.g. Add the text "Bob's friend" to the notes section of all the contacts in a selected group, or add the note "family" to a selected set of contacts?
Perhaps there is a way to use Automator for this? or AppleScript?
    2) Is there a way to create multiple address books (short of creating multiple user accounts and logging in and out) to separate, for example business contacts from personal ones? Or perhaps is there a way to add a field to a template that allows one to categorize a contact as personal, business, school, retail, Sharon's friend, etc?
    Please lend me your ideas!

    Welcome to the discussions, Rangely.
    1) Yes, certainly, Applescript is ideal for this. See below for a simple sample. You can see which features of AB are accessible by using Script Editor to open AB's dictionary.
    2) Well, you could, but AB assumes its database is in ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook, so you could have several parallel AB folders and swap them around as needed - but you can't do it from inside AB. It is much simpler to use the feature that suits the job - groups of contacts. As well as simplicity this has the advantage that details of someone who is business, school and Sharon's friend need only be stored once, as a contact can be in multiple groups.

  • Adding asset in the previous period and depreciation run

    Hi Experts,
I want to know whether we can add an asset for the previous period and run the depreciation.
I will try explaining with an example.
Let us say,I forgot to add an asset and i want to add an asset now with date as 1st July 2008. Is it possible? If it is possible will the system calculate the depreciation from July or will it calculate from the date the asset has been added?
    Please explain.
    Thanks,
    Sasidhar

    Hi
It will allow you to add a new asset in the closed period with few conditions
Since you have given in your example as july 2008, check whether your FI year is open. Then check the asset period whether its opened are closed
If all the periods are not resticting you, you can go a head with adding an asset
Your depreciation will be calculated from the date of purchasing, that means only the calculationg will happen from that period and not the accounting entry
You will have only one planned depreciation from july to current period as per your example. So when your running the planned depreciation run for the current period, the entire depreciation will get posted now
You can do repeat run only for one period prior to the current planned period and not at any prior period
So with your example of july 2008, if your running AFAB monthly, repeat run may not work

  • Multiple address books and duplicate contacts issue

    Hi all!
I set up two email accounts in my BB, one is GMail and the other is Yahoo! Both address books are synchronized to the BB too.
Since I already had contacts in my BB list and now contacts coming from GMail and Yahoo!, there are now some duplicate entries (i.e. the same person name coming from BB contacts list and from Yahoo!).
Is there any way to automatically/programatically clean up, merge or hide the duplicated entries? Ideally, each contact should be shown only once with the data merged from the different sources.
Thanks in advance for your help to figure this out!!!

In your Address Book options, set it to not include duplicate names (And the names have to exactly alike), then use your Yahoo or Gmail address web accounts to delete the duplicates. That's one way.
Another would be to export all your contacts to something like an excel spreadsheet, edit and resync back to the device. You'll need Desktop Manager to do this.

  • What is the difference between periodic asset postings and depreciation pos

    Hi,
What is the difference between periodic asset postings and depreciation postings in asset accounting.
    Regards, Naresh Yadav

ASKBN or ASKB : Periodic asset posting will update acquisition and depreciation in depreciation area other than area 01 which are maintained as post "APC and depreciation on periodic basis" by using ASKB or ASKBN
Separate set of GL accounts will be used for ASKBN.  You can run ASKBN or ASKB as and when you need it and not necessarily nonth end
AFAB : To post a book depreciation at every period and  this activity usually every month end  which posts depreciation 01 Book Depreciation and other areas maintained as realtime at OADB

  • India Localization - AP - Asset Invoice with Tax Lines

    Dear Experts,
In India Localization If I have Asset Invoice with Tax Lines and If I Perform Mass Additions will Tax Lines also Interfaced to FA or only Asset cost will be transferred FA (Excluding Tax Lines)
    Please help me out.
    Thanks
    Bharath

    Bharath,
even though the tax lines are independently transferred to mass addition and merged ... it is merged to its owning transaction ... like if the invoice in AP is created for a capital asset using the Capital asset clearing account, the tax lines in that invoice is merged automatically to that invoice cost line in the mass addition stage ... similary for CIP clearing account ....

  • Fixed Assets - Tax Book Depreciation Reset

    Hello Fixed Assets Experts,
My company recently reorganized our parent company, and now has the following scenario:
Due to legal changes, we need to start over the useful life on our tax books (10 and 11) and restart the calculation of depreciation based on the net book value of the asset on 1/1/2008.  Book 01 needs to continue as normal.  We would like to use the current asset numbers and not transfer anything to new numbers.  These are all of our FFE assets, so there are multiple depreciation keys and useful lives (i.e. computer equipment, property, etc).  I have tried making custom depreciation keys and changing the useful lives to get the desired result, but can't seem to find a way to do it.
    Here is an example:
Asset 1 (software), was capitalized on 06/30/2006 with a useful life of 3 years and has been depreciating since.  It is scheduled for end of life in 2009.  The net book value of the asset on 1/1/08 is 1219.97.  I need to depreciate the 1219.97 over 3 years starting on 1/1/08.
Is this possible?  We have not run our December 08 depreciation, but I am running out of options.
    Thanks in advance!

Do you working on ECC 6 and activate the option EA-FIN. In that case it is possible to use time intervale in the tab Depr Areas (click 2 times on the line). This should solve your problem.

  • Copying assets in Tax book which didnt exist in the corp book last year?

    Hi All,
We are facing following issue with our Fixed Assets Tax reporting. If someone can point us in right direction, we would really appreciate that
    1)     We are currently running on Oracle 11.5.10
    2)     Right now (as of JUN-11), we have 1 consolidated corp book in the system with around 14000 assets in it and no tax books
    3)     Tax reporting is done from a third party software. Right now we have filed for taxes till 2009. 2010 tax filing is still pending
    4)     We want to file 2010 taxes by August and we want to do it through Oracle. We are planning to configure tax book in the system so that taxes can be filed
    5)     The approach would be to create a Tax book with open period as of 2009. Run the Initial Mass copy from corp book to tax book. This would copy everything from corp book to tax book as of Dec-2009. Then depreciate the tax books all through 2010 and run periodic mass copy for every month and we will get the DEC-2010 figure
    6)     But there is a catch here. As I said that we have all our assets in just one corp book. But that wasn’t the case before Jan-2011. We had around 20 corp books for every legal entity. So all the assets that we have today were lying around in various corp books. We did the consolidation of the assets into one book this January-2011 because all our legal entities were consolidated.
    7)     Now given this scenario, if we run the Initial Mass copy as described in point 5 to the tax book only those assets from the corp book will be copied to the tax book which existed in this corp book as of DEC-2009. (This is the standard Oracle functionality). This is not the complete list as only few assets were there in this book as of Dec-2009. Rest of them were in different books
    8)     Do we have to create tax books for all the corporate books to achieve what we want to achieve or is there a way that multiple corp book data can be copied to one tax book?
Please let me know your thoughts
    Regards,
    Rahul

I will re - ask the question in just one line. Please reply if you know the answer:
Is it possible in Oracle to Initial mass copy asset data from corp book to tax book in the last fiscal year when the assets did not exist in the corp book as of last fiscal year? Assets were brought to that corp book only this year as part of consolidation
    Thanks
    Rahul

  • Asset  - Restating tax books for 2006

    Hello Asset Mavens!
Do you know how to restate the tax books (they don't post to general ledger) for a prior year (2006) due to an acquisition.
This is for tax returns related to a company that was spun off:
Assets acquired in Jan or Feb 2006 have a 'stub' period for those 2 months and a second 'stub' period for the months of March-Dec.  Assets acquired March-Dec have a different calculation as well, which I can show if that's helpful.
    We are on 4.6C.
Your help would be greatly appreciated!

I had never changed a depreciation key and recalculated, so I tested that and found it very helpful.
Further clarification requested:  the assets acquired in in the first two months in 2006 need to have two depreciation methods in 2006:  one for the first two months, based on a 'year' of 2 months, and a second method requiring depreciation based on a 10 month year.
How is that done?  Do I develop a single key that incorporates both changes - and I'm not sure that is possible.  Is manual depreciation an option?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
I would assume the G/L account you used was not properly set up.  Did you get the same problem if you try to change to another G/L account?  Perhaps, get your FI specialist to look into this G/L account-related error and verify it.

  • AUC Asset and depreciation error in Area 20

    Hi All,
I have a problem with AUC settlement,  there is negative values in my AUC (Area 01, no values in Area 20) and when I am settle that to Asset master I got the error message Negative values not allowed in Area 01.   So I have selected negative values allowed check box for  Area 1 and Area 20 in AUC asset master data, now the settlement is fine and have settled that.
Now the main problem I am facing is, here am seeing the balance of negative value on AUC asset under the Area 20 and also the total negative value is picking as Accumulated depreciation.
Could you one provide the ideas how the nagative balace went in Area 20 and why it caluculated depreciation even though the depreciation key is 0000.
    Thanks
    Sreenivas

    Hai Qian,
You can maintain the Net book value and special depreciationall values allowed in OADB t.code or whtever fields u want the maintain the All values allowed

  • FI-AA: Assignment asset class to chart of depreciation

    Hi all,
does anybody know whether it's possible to assign asset classes to a specific chart of depreciation (or let's say to delete this assignment)?
The background of the question is the following: Some asset classes should not be used in some company codes. All these company codes use the same chart of depreciation, so I thought there must be a possibility to delete the assignment of this asset class to this chart of depreciation. Unfortunately, I haven't found this setting in the IMG.
The SAP Message no. AC 012 tells for example, that there is an assignment "asset class to chart of depreciation". This is the message:
In order to be able to assign chart-of-depreciation-dependent data to asset class 120204, the following conditions have to be met. You have to have already
    1. Defined at least two active charts of depreciation
    2. Assigned asset class 120204 to more than one chart of depreciation
However, at the moment this asset class is only assigned to chart of depreciation 1.
As we have definitely more than one active chart of depreciation, there must be this assignment, but how can I change it?
I've seen that I can set a block for an asset class in a chart of depreciation in transaction OAYZ (ANKB-XSPEB / Indicator: Block asset class chart of depreciation-specifc). But I think that I will still see the asset class in the match code search (F4) when I set this indicator.
Does anybody know how I can delete an asset class form a chart of depreciation so that it won't be found via match code search? I've checked almost the whole FI-AA tree but haven't found a solution...
    Thank you very much!
    Regards,
    Peter

    Hi Eric,
thanks for your answer. As far as I can see, the option "chart of depreciation only" in transaction AM05 has the same effect than the parameter "chart of depreciation" in transaction OAYZ.
As I receive a transport request via transaction AM05, it seems that this changes the same customizing table.
Fortunately, all company codes in this chart of depreciation need the same settings, so a validation rule seems not to be necessary.
It's just strange that there is no possibility to edit the assignment asset class to chart of depreciation in customizing (I think the assignment to all asset classes in the system will be created automatically when I copy the chart of depreciation). I think the only possibility would be to edit the respective tables manually (what I definitely won't do).
Another strange thing I see in the system: There are 2 asset classes 120203 and 120204, which are both set up equally. When I try to block these in AM05, I'll receive the error message AA 111 for asset class 120204, while the asset class 120203 can be blocked without problems. When I use matchcode search F4, I can see 120203 while 120204 is not found.
    Message AA111 is the following:
Chart of dep. 100 does not exist in class 120204 (Create chart of deprec.)
    Diagnosis
Chart of depreciation 100 does not exist in class 120204.
    Procedure
Create the chart of depreciation 100 for asset class 120204 using the transaction 'Create asset class' and the function 'Create chart of dep.'.
There is the assignment asset class to chart of depreciation.
When I check asset class 120204 in OAYZ (Determine Depreciation Areas in the Asset Class) I'll get the following message (I don't get this message when I check 120203):
Deprec. area 50 was changed and deactivated. Please check.
    Message no. AC 631
    Diagnosis
Depreciation area 50 was added to asset class 120204 because this depreciation area was newly created in Customizing.
    System Response
The system adds the new depreciation area to the asset class, but its status is 'deactivated.'
    Procedure
Check if this action by the system is correct. Maintain the depreciation areas in the asset class, and remove the 'deactivated' indicator there, if you choose.
For sure, depreciation area 50 was not newly created in customizing (as stated in the error message), as this depreciation are is in production for years! There must be another reason for this.
However, this says to me that the assignment asset class to chart of depreciation is created by SAP automatically and this can't be influenced.
Therefore I'll just block the asset class in the chart of depreciation with the disadvantage, that I'll see this asset class when I use the matchcode search F4 (e.g. in AS01). This seems to be the only solution.
Thanks again for your help (you got some points for that ;-).
    Regards,
    Peter

  • Assigning Asset Number as Account Assignment Object in Depreciation Run

    Hi,
We want to assign Asset Number along with Cost Center as an additional Account Assignment Object in our Depreciation Run. For this we have maintained Asset as an active object and assigned it to the Depreciation Area 01 and activated it for all Transaction type "*".
However, when we see the FI Document Posting, we get Cost Center number from the Asset Master record posted to Depreciation account but a "*" comes in the field of Asset Number in the FI Document? Is it possible to have asset number also in the FI document?
    regards,
    Chintan Shah

    Hi
    Thats standard behaviour
Its not possible because, one consolidated document is posted in FI for lots of assets.. The posting happens in a batch mode.. thats why, the Asset No is displayed as *
For Asset wise depreciation reports, you can see reports like S_P99_41000192 - Posted depreciation by asset and posting period  and S_ALR_87010175 - Posted depreciation, related to cost centers
