Assigning a Key Figure in a Multi provider

In a multi provider if I have a key figure which is assigned from more than one part providers.  What does this exactly mean?  For example:
Let's say I have a key figure Number of Sales which is present in two part providers and assigned from both the providers, if I build a query say Country | Number of Sales what happens with the assignment
Thanks

Good point.
My scenario is as follows.
1. We are building a query which uses a base query as a template.
2. Our query is built off a seperate multiprovider which replaces one of the part cubes with a cube that has consolidated set of data from SAP and Non SAP systems
3. In the original multi provider one of the key figures is assigned from two part providers, one of which is that which we are replacing - this key figure is used extensively in the definition of other query level key figures
4. The key figure does not exist in the consolidated cube but we have a key figure that we will use instead of.
5. The original query does not have info provider restrictions at the query or local key figure levels
I believe I can sum the two figures when I define the Key figures in the new query but just needed clarity on if this is a solution hence wanted to confirm the values are being summed up assuming no restrictions etc
Sorry guys,
before I close this message I just wanted to confirm the following, do not want to save/activate the change on the system
I have carried out a check after I removed the assignment from one of the part providers it seems that this is possible - this is correct.  If this is the case it seems that the business requirement is to sum the values from the two part providers

  • How to use a non cumulative key figure in a multi planning area

    Hi
I'm new to bps, my problem is
I need to read the last stock quantity and value at plant and material level to do further calculations in a fox formula, so i made a planning area for the cube 0rt_c36 and another for my tc cube where the results should go, then i combine these areas in a multiplanning area.
problems arise when selecting the key figure in the ratios tab of the multi area, the ratios 0CPTOTSTOBU (last stock) and 0CPTOTSTOPV (last stock purchase value) are not available, only the inflow and outflow ratios are 0CPTOTREBU and 0CPTOTREPV.
I know when reporting, the actual value for stock is calculated by  bex, namely, there is no data store at database level, so the question is:
How to obtain last stock for using in bps??
    thank you for any help
    regards
    A. Garduñ

    Hi Azael,
In the How to Papers, you will find a Guide on how to take a Sanpshot view of the Stocks(How To Handle Inventory Management Scenarios in BW). Basically if you implement the Guide, you will have another cube called ICSNAP1, which will contain stock quantities /values at the end of each month. You will therefore have to take stock at the end of the last month from that cube and add up the relevant receipts and issues to arrive at the current Stock or Stock as on a particular date.
    Hope this helps!

  • Using Key Figures from Other Info Provider without no Multiprovider

    Dear All.
i have a requirement to calculate Cost / Ton, as for now our people are creating like that.
GL Account Value , Total Sales Quantity, Total Production Quanity.
Let say GL Account 1111 Total Sale is 90,000 Ton and Total Production is 80,000 Ton.
Now GL Account value i can get from 0FIGL_C02 or Sale Quantity from 0SD_C03 and Production Quantity from 0IC_C03.
but there is no link between 0FIGL_C02 and other cubes but i need all the values in order to calculate the Cost / Ton.
Can you please guide me that how to achieve this.
    Thanks & Kind Regards,

    Hello;
Do you have any DSO between the datasources and  0SD_C03 and 0IC_C03?
If yes you could fill the new KF in 0FIGL_C02 reading from the DSO using a code similar to this:
Select single 0SALES from /BIC/A0SD_O0100 into RESULT
          where GL_ACCOUNT eq SOURCE_FIELDS-GL_ACCOUNT.
NOTE: the 0SD_O01 is a DSO between the datasource and 0SD_C03 that contains the KF Sales. However, this solution could be tricky if the keys don't match (poor performance if many records).
The Multiprovider is the best solution with common detail

  • Virtual Key Figure in report giving  values

    Hi Gurus,
I have created a Virtual Key Figure on a Multi Provide and completed all necessary user-exit coding.
When I run the BEX report for a single material my Key Figure is populating correct values.
But when I run the BEX report for multiple material and if the key figure value is zero it is putting  star and due this my result is giving me the wrong value.
Please suggest me what I need to do to correct this.
    Thanks,
    Saleem.

    Hi,
    Thank you for your responace.
But still i am getting the same error. While displaying on BEX report some rows showing * and some rows showing ERROR after the value.
    Please advice me .

  • Virtual provider and cumulative key figure

    Hi guru,
Is it possible to use a cumulative key figure in a virtual provider?
    Thanks a lot

    Hi
Non cumulative key fig is not a part of Fact table ,it is a part of Infocube defination which is calulated on the basis of inflow and out flow whic are essentialy KF avail in the factable of the Infocube
NonCumulative kF Is calculated within InfoCube defination using exp. Agg. on last value  and last inflow substracting outflow .
Inview of the above VP will not be able to contain NCkey Figure

  • How to delete a restricted key figure in a multiprovider

    Hi all
I used transaction RSZC (for the first time) to copy over restricted key figures from and info provider to a multi provider.
This worked but somehow it copied over each restricted key figure twice.
I have right clicked on the ones I don't want and clicked on delete but it doesn't delete them.
    any ideas ?
    thanks in advance

Thanks to you all for your help
It was my fault, I had them in structures that I'd copied over so that's why it wouldn't let me delete them.
I found this out when I used RSZDELETE, thanks for that

  • Adding key figures using commands in Web Application Designer?

    Hello, all.
I have a query the contains several key figures.  From that query, I created a query view in which only one of the key figures is displayed.  I'm using this query view for one of the data providers in a web template.  In Web Applicaiton Designer, I would like to be able to hide the key figure from the data provider and show a different one.  How can I accomplish this using the built-in commands?
I know I can hide all key figures using the CLEAR_SELECTION_STATE command, but I can't figure out how to use a command such as SET_SELECTION_STATE_SIMPLE to show a different key figure.  Any help would be great!  Thanks.

I've tried that using the GUI to configure the command, but WAD crashes when I try to open the window where I choose the member name.  The error says:
"4A6DM1A4LTXPJKA1BA3LD9TTD is not a valid characteristic for InfoProvider MQM_M01."
I also tried entering the commands as you suggested in the XHTML editor, but that resulted in an error when I tried to execute the command.
Maybe I can do what I'm trying to do using some method other than changing key figures.  Basically all I want do is change the date range of the data shown using offsets.
The key figures that I'm trying to add and remove are restricted in Query Designer to different date ranges.  These date ranges use offsets to set the restriction.  For example, one key figure is restricted to display values for only the last 7 days and I'm trying to replace it with a key figure that's restricted to the last 14 days.
If I knew how to set a filter with offsets using commands in WAD, then I'd use that method, instead.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Addition of new key figure in ODS

    Dear all,
In ODS, delta is loaded everyday through process chain. Now according to business requirement, we need to add one more key figure in it. I don't have to map it with any of the R/3 field. Only i have to create update routine to assign value in it using already existing key figure.
Can i directly add new key figure in the ODS? Will it affect my data present in ODS as well as daily delta load process?
If i can do this, can i assign exact 'key figure' value for the existing data also?
Please guide me for the same. We are using BW 3.5.
    Regards,
    Omkar.

    Hi,
I am not sure that it is true that you need to delete data.  I am sure one can add a field to the ODS without deleting it.  The field will remain blank after creation, unless you fill it:
    1.  manually using a flat file for past data; mapping will work for subsequent data
    2.  Use a self reference if the value is already present in another key figure.
The change may take a long time to activate depending on the following:
    1.  Size of the ODS
    2.  Existence of indexes.
However,  as you are running a delta you need to be careful of the delta queue if you also intend to touch the datasource.
    Cheers....

  • APO key figures - units of measure

    I am using APO V5.1.
Via RSA1 I have created a key figure of data type Quantity and unit = 0UNIT.
I have assigned this key figure to my planning area and planning book.
The planning area has unit of measure = CAS, and this is the unit of measure shown for my new key figure in interactive planning.
How can I change the unit of measure for my new key figure to D(ays)?
    Thanks for any advice...

    Datta,
    Thanks for this reply.
    I have followed your advice...
I have a key figure with data type 'Number'.
In interactive planning, this key figure is appearing with a blank uom.
In the planning book design, on the 'key figure attributes' tab, I cannot however make any changes to the key figure attributes including uom, as they are greyed out.
    Any ideas on this?
    Thanks...

  • WAD question: fix each chart series to a specific key figure

    Hi All,
    I hope you can help.
In WAD is it possible to fix each series in a chart to a specific key figure from the data provider (query)?
We need to be able to do this because the opening position of our query has a number of hidden key figures, that are displayed later in navigation.
Without being able to fix the series to key figures, in the opening view some key figures are appearing as columns rather than lines and vice versa.
    Thanks and regards
    IM

    Thanks for your help, Pcrao.
    My scenario is:
I have 15 key figures in the columns of my query (data provider).
The first 12 of these KFs are to be displayed as bars (columns) and the last 3 as lines in the chart of my web query.
I can set this no problem in WAD.
But my problem is that because a number of my key figures are set as hide in the query designer (to be unhidden later in navigation) the last three KF's are displaying (incorrectly) as bars until I unhide all KF's in the navigation.
In other words, it seems to me that I need to fix each series in the chart editing to a specific key figure. But I don't know how.
    Thanks again and regards

  • Technical Design Review Question: Key Figures

I got my hands on technical design documentation for a project on COPA budget. I came up with a few questions but I will post them separately for fast closing and awards:
In the discussions of Key Figures, a table was provided showing Name, description, source field, data type and Unit. With the exception of 5 of them, all the key figures had data type as Curr(17,2).
My confusion is why all their equivalent Units were 0Currency while the 4 exceptions which had Data Type QUAN(17,2) had Units  of the form zvv90_ME, zvv094_ME, etc.
I will appreciate your thoughts on these.
    Thanks

All the Key figures which are curr(17,2) are meant to be used as Amounts which can be ties to different currencies..
Like The key figure might have a number 1,000 and the corresponding entry in 0currency might be USD which means its $1000.
You can find all the valid currency keys in the TCURC table..
    On similar lines For Key figures which specify quantity a few examples will be ;
    100 pc
    30 Hr
Where the unit is stored in 0UNIT.

  • SAP Note 0407563: Key Figure Model versus Account Model in BW

I am reviewing a document on Key Figure Model versus Account Model in BW.
There are a number of references to "SAP Note 0407563", can anyone with access to this note post it here for me to review. Sometimes some otf there links prompt for password.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    <b>SAP Note 0407563</b>
    Symptom
You would like to design a data model for SEM-BPS and you are not sure, whether to use the key figure or the account model.
You are looking for proposals for data modelling.
    Additional key words
bps0, key figure, characteristic, model, data modelling, consultation
    Cause and prerequisites
In the following you find a simple example by means of which the terms key figure and account model are defined.
In the example we want to assign several key figures (for example revenues) to a characteristic (for example customer), whose units (for example currency DM) are identical.A modeling option, which is called key figure model, contains all key figures in one data record.
    Customer Revenue_1 Revenue_2 Revenue_3
    A 10 DM 30 DM  50 DM
In the account model, on the other hand, an additional characteristic is added, which separates the revenue types.
    Customer Type Revenue
    A 1 10 DM
    A 2 30 DM
    A 3 50 DM
Advantages and disadvantages from the point of view of data modelling
You can easily add an additional revenue type in the account model, because you do not have to change the data structure. In the key figure model, on the other hand, you must add an additional key figure to the structure. It actually depends on the frequency of these changes occurring.
A data record that is to be changed by a processor, is exclusively locked by SEM-BPS for this processor.A lock that only concerns individual key figures of a data record is not possible. As a consequence the different revenue types can be changed simultaneously by different processors in the account model, wheras in the key figure model one processor automatically locks all key figures exclusively for his own use.
If you use a planning function in the account or key figure model, a different Customizing is required in general. Consequently, a conversion of the data model leads to a change of Customizing in general.
Advantages and disadvantages from the technical point of view
The transaction data is stored in the BW.Analyses have shown that the read time basically depends on the number and not on the size of the data records. In the above example you can see that by changing the key figure and account model the number of records increases by factor 3, which means that you must expect longer read times. When determining the factor you must take into account that normally not all key figures are used in every record in the key figure model. As a consequence only those records are created when changing to the account model, for which the key figures are not equal to zero.
    Example:
So if in the above example the key figure Revenue_1 is not used, only two records are generated and consequently the value of the factor is also reduced to 2.
After the transaction data has been read from the BW, it is stored in the application server's memory. The amount of memory required depends, among other things, on the number and on the length of the records. The length can be influenced by the data model you choose:in the key figure model the records are longer than in the account model and therefore consume more memory for each record. Therefore, the key figure or account model will require less memory depending on the relationship between record length and number of records.
When the data model is changed, also the planning functions must be revised.Depending on the type of calculation there might be advantages for one of the models.
    Example and rules of thumb
The following example contains 30 key figures, which were mapped to 3 key figures and one additional characteristic with a maximum of 10 characteristic values when you changed to the account model. In both models a price calculation between three key figures each was executed.Consider the specifications in the table as relative specifications:For the number of data records you for example find a and a*10.This means that in the second case the number of data records is larger by factor 10 than in the first case. The determination of the relationships is based on 5000 data records in the key figure model.
Example: all key figures are used (100%)
measured size      :     Key figure model, Account model
    Number data records:      a      ,     a*10
    Read time       :     l      ,     l*10
    Price calculation:      t      ,     t*9
    Data record length:      d*4      ,     d
    Memory requirement :     m      ,     m*3
Example: Key figures are partially used (20%)
measured size      :     Key figure model ,Account model
    Number data records :          a      ,     a*2
    Read time           :     l      ,     l*2
    Price calculation      :     t      ,     t*2
    Data record length      :     d*4      ,     d
    Memory requirement      :     m      ,     m*0,8
    How are the sizes determined?
Read the related notes for details on the use of the statistics.
    1. a: In the statistics of SEM-BPS or BW this value is stored when you execute a planning function. The method has the name 0-DB1.
    2. l: The above statistical record also contains the execution time.
    3. t: In the statistics of SEM-BPS a record is stored for the planning function. The overall runtime of the planning function contains the database time. Therefore the database time must be subtracted from the runtime of the planning function to determine t.
    4. d: The data record length corresponds to the data structure length (ABAP length), which is generated for every area. The name is made up as follows:
      Prefix:  /1SEM/_YS_DATA_
      Client: mmm
      Name of the area: gggggggg
The client must always be specified with three digits, the area only in its actual length. The name for an area called 'MYAREA' which is in client 001 is for example /1SEM/_YS_DATA_001MYAREA.When you determine the length, note that there is the dictionary and the ABAP length (Transaction SE11 => Extras => Structure width => ABAP length) and that the total of the two structures contained must be determined. In the structure stated above, for example /1SEM/_YS_CHAS_001MYAREA and /1SEM/_YS_KYFS_001MYAREA are contained. The total is the length you are looking for.
    5. m: After executing the planning function, start Transaction STAD and find the appropriate statistical record for the dialog step, in which you have executed the planning function. The record contains a memory specification, which is the desired value for s.
    Solution
Bear in mind that the values from the example are not generally valid, but were determined from a specific example. We recommend that you determine the parameters (both the values of the variables and of the relationships) for your specific case and to use it as the basis for discussion. You should not choose too few data records, because the fixed memory consumers predominate otherwise.

  • Multi provider objects and restricted key figure definition

    I have the following scenario:
    1. I have a multi provider which is used as a template to build a second multiprovider the difference being one of the part provider cubes is replaced by a new cube
    2. There is a query built off the original multi provider which consists of a restricted key figure.  The definition of the restricted key figure is as follows
Characteristic 1 - restricted to records with value 'A'
Characteristic 2 - restricted to records with value 'Blue'
        Key Figure - Total Amount
    3. If I go to the original multiprovider and look at how the characteristics are identified and the key figure assigned the details are as follows
Characteristic 1 - identified from all part providers including the part provider to be replaced
Characteristic 2 - identified from all part providers including the part provider to be replaced
Total Amount - assigned from two part providers (which are also involved in the identification of   Characteristic 1 and 2)  not including the part provider to be replaced
    4. In the new multi provider the details are as follows
Characteristic 1 - identified from all part providers excluding the replacement part provider
Characteristic 2 - identified from all part providers excluding the replacement part provider
Total Amount - assigned from two part providers (which are also involved in the identification of   Characteristic 1 and 2)  not including the part provider to be replaced
My thoughts are that it does not matter that Characteristic 1 and 2 cannot be identified from the new part provider since as long as the two part providers which are used to assign Total Amount are available in the new multi provider the values shown from the restricted key figure will be the same.  Is this correct? Thanks

    Hi,
Yes this is correct. As long as you are reporting on Total Amount, the replacement cube will not make a difference because you never identified total amount from it. Did you face any issues?

  • Multi Provider : No Restricted Key Figure

    Matez,
I have created an MultiProvider with 2 Info Cubes.
However, I don`t seem to see the restricted key figure's or even global structure's in the Query Designer of my MultiProvider.
Please advice if I need to enable any special settings ?

    Hi John,
If your base InfoCube is a complete subset of the multiprovider (i.e. all the chars and key figures of the base cube are contained in the multiprovider) you can try to copy the query from the base cube to the multiprovider using transaction RSZC. Sometimes if the structures are large and involving a lot of calculations, it may even make sense to modify the multiprovider temporarily, so that the query may be copied, and then later on chnage it according to the requirements.
    Hope this helps...
