I just purchased a new IPS monitor. I have calibrated it using the HP Display assistant that came with it. It is an HP ZR 22w. I saved my calibration as a preset - however - this is not appearing as a profile when I try to select it in the print module. the checkbox for "include display profiles" is ticked. If I allow the printer to manage - the pictures are much warmer than on the IPS display. My printer is a canon mg6120 and I am running windows 7. I would appreciate any assistance that anyone can provide. Thank you

I think the "HP Display assistant" is a software tool, is that right?
Ideally with Lightroom, you should use a hardware calibration/profiling tool (Spyder, Eye One, Color Munki etc). In particular, you need a monitor profile that contains colour space information. I had a look through the HP Display Assistant user manual, and it appears the software does calibration but it probably doesn't put colour space info in the profile. It'll be better than nothing, but a hardware tool is better.

This is not what you want to do! The profile that the HP Display Assistant creates is for the monitor, and only for the monitor. It gets the right white point and tone curve for the monitor. What you need in the profile drop-down in LR print module is a printer profile, not a monitor profile (except on very special circumstances).
I'm not familiar with the MG6120, but when I googled "profiles for canon mg6120" I got a lot of hits, so I assume profiles are available. It's quite likely that some came with the printer driver, and were installed with the printer software. When you select "profile" in LR print module (you may well have to go to "Other..." to see them all) then there should be profiles for the printer - possible lots of them - one or more for each paper type. If they're not there, see the Canon documentation (or google it) to find out how to load them.
If you can't find any profiles for the printer, then try using sRGB (or probably it's "sRGB IEC..."). Without colour management, your printer will probably expect sRGB images, so this should be roughly right, but a specific profile for the printer is better. This is one of those very special circumstances when something other than a printer profile (and sRGB isn't a printer profile) may be better than nothing.

Assistance needed with SG300-10 and QNAP TS-459 Pro II Link Aggregation

As the subject specifies, I have a pair of devices on a local network that I would like to play nicely together.
My problem:
If the TS-459 is configured for standalone (No Link Aggregation), then I can access the NAS via Ping, web interface, NFS, etc.. however, If I try enabling Link Aggregation, then I lose TCP/IP connectivity to it and must use QNAP's Finder utility to change Link Aggregation mode back to Standalone.
What I'm asking is - has anyone here configured a QNAP NAS appliance with Link Aggregation enabled with an SG300 or similar?? If so, could you kindly provide a walk-through on the appropriate settings for each?
My first attempts on the NAS side were to choose the "Balance-alb" (automatic load balance) and "Balance-tlb" (adaptive transmit load balance) - The QNAP_Turbo_NAS_User_manual_V3.4_ENG.pdf states that these two modes are for "General Switches", so I assumed they should work.. unfortunately, no luck for me..
Next up, I tried the IEEE 802.3ad / Link Aggregation setting on the NAS, while the device was rebooting, I configured the two GB ports on the SG300 to be a LAG with LACP enabled. Unfortunately, this too did not work as I had hoped.
I called QNAP support and of course they don't have an Sg300-10 to test with, but will test their TS-459 Pro II to confirm the Link Aggregation settings function as advertised. I hope to hear back from them later this evening. In the meantime, if anyone here has insight, it would be very much appreciated. The NAS and SG300 are for a home lab consisting of a pair of Dual-six core systems with 48GB of mem each for vSphere.

You can use link-aggregation 802.3AD with the sg-300. Try to make the trunk in the sg-300 with LACP enabled (before you make the trunk, otherwise LACP is disabled and you will only be able to do so by deleting the trunk and add it again). Flow control is enabled in the sg-300 (altough i'm not sure if this is needed). I've got the sg-300 and the QNAP TS 439 pro II+.

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.

The download itself is free and is valid for 30 days only. After that, the software ceases to work.
CS4 is pretty old, no longer sold and no longer supported by Adobe. It's also not compatible with many modern OSes.
Why do you have to work with such an obsolete version of Photoshop?

haha, so now i'm thinking. I'm learning the terminal as fast as i can but there are several lines of codes and commands in there that throws up red flags to me that i don't fully understand. It just looks fishy too me. It would be highly appreciated if someone could just check this out just to tell me that i don't need to worry about it. Or point me in the right direction. Need help re-synching iPods with new computer and getting iTunes to recognize our iPods (it doesn't even recognize them when they're plugged in).
Hubby wiped my harddrive for me, so now I need to get everything back in proper places. I'm using windows XP and installed iTunes once again (I believe it's version 8). I also installed all of my iTunes songs. Now I need to know where to go from here. We have 3 iPods and I need to get them all synched once again. I know how to create different libraries for each of us, but I can't figure out how to get our songs back into our iTunes libraries. When I open iTunes and plug in an iPod, iTunes doesn't even show that an iPod is plugged in.
What do I do now to get each of our iPods synched with our own libraries?

Okay, now how do I synch all of our ipods with our individual libraries (I don't want all of my kids' songs and vice versa)? We each have hundreds of songs on our ipods that we don't want to lose.

Printing from an iPad or iPhone
To print directly from an iPad you need an AirPrint - enabled printer on the same wireless network as the iPad. All AirPrint printers are wireless but not all wireless printers are AirPrint-enabled. Your Brother MFC-J410W is not an AirPrint printer.
If you do not have an AirPrint printer, a number of workarounds exist that enable the use of any printer you normally use, even older ones that may predate AirPrint by decades. Search for the following products:
handyPrint (Mac only, donation-supported)
Printopia (Mac only, $19.95 with free trial)
These are utilities you install on the Mac you normally use for printing, enabling it to act as an AirPrint print server. The Mac must be "on" but may be asleep for them to work. The iPad needs nothing else, no iOS apps need to be installed and no configuration is necessary. If your computer can print, so can the iPad, using one of these utilities on your Mac.
Equivalent utilities may exist for PCs but I have no experience with them - I suggest https://www.collobos.com
You can also buy this standalone hardware print server, bypassing the need for a computer altogether:

Monitor and Printer Calibration

I am running a MacPro 4.1 (early 2009). I have older monitor and printer hardware and their related software. Unfortunately, the software will not run because the Mac will not run PPC software. The software has both PC and Mac versions on the CDs. I originally ran these on a PC before switching to Mac. It appears that the manufacturer does not have new or updated software to enable these devices to run on the MacPro, and a Google search has not revealed any other devices that will run on this machine.
My question: Is anyone aware of any new such hardware with software that will run on this Mac?

No Mac Pro should be without redundant systems and backup methods.
Definitely not TimeMachine alone, and definitely not when moving to a new OS.
Backup now. Clone you drive. Or just get a new system drive - you will want and need a new OS drive and a backup drive for SL TimeMachine with at minimum room partition set aside for clone.
WD Green 1.5TB $109 makes a good size for both but it is always best to have separate drives / separate backup sets.
Install OS X 10.6.3 and update.
As for "old Sl FILES" you mean your old data? other than Apple Mail and some prefs, should all be the same. And keep your data files off of and on their OWC "data media drive(s)" or something if you don't already, and that makes sense to you. OS / Apps on one, media and projects on 2-3 drives, some external backup drives.
And keep anything you download. Updates, installers, programs, whatever.
Ask Lion Community. There were/are changes in what and how TimeMachine Lion works.
I personally never really had a good warm fuzzy feel about TimeMachine, especially when it was pushed out in "1.0" form in 2007 and had so many bugs and problems even in 10.5.2.

I have a Macbook pro thats prints fine to my HP printer, but when I try and print from my iMac it doesnt see the pages and just prints two blank pages. Even thou the document is a number of pages

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500A and I had no problems printing to it from my Mac or Macbook pro. The macbook is wifi and the Mac is cable, I have recently had the printer replaced with an exact model. Since doing that I can only print from the macbook pro, when I try and print from teh mac it doesnt see the pages. It could be a 10 page document and it will just show two blank pages. I have googled the question and have tried deleating the printer and reinstalling without any luck. When I got the new printer I insalled all the latest drivers thats the only thing different.

Right click the printer in System Prefences - Print & Scan and use Reset Printing System... and then reinstall the printer, should take less than 5 minutes. Here is a photo showing how to Reset Printing System....
