Attaching jpg images in Mac Mail - sending to a PC

I've been looking for some current information on this problem.  Most of the posts seem to be years old.  Is there a working solution to attach images to an email and allow a PC user to download them like a regular attachment?

I am having the same problem with only a select few of clients. Sending pdf - fine, they arrive as attachments. Send a jpg and they are embedded within the email and they have to copy and paste the image out of their email into another program - thus risking the quality of their computers capacity to provide a good image. Then another client has no problem. Read everything, click on everything. I can buy a iconizer, but why do I need to buy a program to simple get the jpg to the client. And why do I need to read every post back to 2003 on why Outlook does this so I can use my simple - attach file within the mac mail. So now I have to go within my computer - control click and save the file into a zip - sometime adding another folder to group them all together. More clutter on my computer.
This is what is frustrating. Go on mac posts to find answers - they have you click on all these buttons and stuff. Go to pc outlook google searches and they have them clicking and doing all sorts of fixes. Can't these two computer software groups figure this out.
If it was happening on every client - then I would think it was me. If was happening on every outlook client - I mean everyone outlook receiver - then it is outlook, but it only happens with a few. What button within outlook does the client need to click on or off - it is that simple.
I might sound frustrated but I'm not. By the post out on the net that I read - this is happening a lot but no one specific answer seems to work. And it is all related to me with the client's outlook email service.

  • No longer able to attach .jpg images in Mail...

    I'm having problems attaching .jpg images in Mail. This problem started two or three days ago. I can attach .zip files, but I'm unable to attach .pdf or .jpg files. I have not tried other formats, as these are the two most common formats used.
    Has anyone else experienced this issue?
    Cheers. -m

    I get this problem on my PPC, but not my Intel machine. Instead of using Server Admin, best to set this value (maxAttachmentSize) in the /etc/wikid/wikid.conf file. The value in Server Admin will still show '0', but I was still able to attach files up to the size I specified in the wikid.conf file.

  • No images in Mac Mail

    I used to be able to see images in Mac Mail. I think it stopped after upgrading to Lion. Now the e-mail looks like this:

    And yes, I have checked the "display images in remote HTML:
    Any advice? This has been going on for months! Thanks!

    If you view the full headers of the message, what is its "Content-Type"? If it's text/plain, that would be the problem: HTML email should be text/html. If it's multipart/alternative, make sure you're viewing the HTML alternative.
    Under View in the Menu bar, select Message > All Headers to get Content-Type.
    Is it all emails or emails from specific senders?
    Are the emails forwarded?

  • My mac mail sends a false return address

    my mac mail sends a false return address.
    isp (Att yahoo) indicates false return address is one of thiers, but cannot understand how our computer finds it inorder to send out. The false address lists an odd email server (pimout) instead of sbcglobal ([email protected]).
    isp suggests mac mail must be making contact with the server, and finding this address, some how in a search for it's appropriate address is the theory, because it is one of their's.....but has never been our address..
    So, I don't really care why, but figure if I trash the right lib/pref file, I can lose this problem.

    Paul, this is not a very clear description of your problem, but let's give it a try;
    In your Preferences for Mail, Accounts, what do you have there as email name? the correct address?
    Can you send me an email (provided somewhere in my profile when you click on my name) so I can see what the data in there looks like?

  • How do I change the hostname used when Mac Mail sends EHLO

    Hi All,
    I work for a tech support group and one of our clients is experiencing some trouble sending emails. When they connect to their outbound mail server Mac Mail sends the EHLO command with a hostname like 01:23:45:67:89:ab.home
    Another Mac on the network sends a hostname like 00:A0:C9:14:C8:29.home2
    So they appear to be the a Mac address for the computers NIC followed by a generic location in this case .home, not sure if thats a generic Mac thing or something they chose to configure but because the hostname is not an ip address and contains ".(dot)home" the outbound mail server our client uses believes it to be a domain so then rejects it as an invalid domain when a lookup on it fails.
    I've changed the hostname of one of the Macs using the command "cutil –-set HostName new_hostname"
    This has changed the hostname when checking it by the hostname command in a Terminal but Mac Mail still persists in using the old hostname. We've tried rebooting the machine and rebooting the machine with the left shift key held down as I believe this does some kind of rebuild of configuration files, but still the old hostname is send when Mac Mail sends EHLO.
    How can I force Mac Mail to pick up the new hostname or is there something else I need to do to change it?
    thanks for any assistance you can provide,
    Martin

    You can sign out from the account in iBooks and then sign in to another one.
    From the menu bar, choose:  Store->Sign Out
    Then sign in again with the desired ID: Store->Sign In

  • Problem for PCs recieving attached SWF files from Mac Mail 2.1.3

    Hi All,
    When I send this file from my mac mail 2.1.3 (753.1) with a SWF (flash animation) attachment the file wont open on the PC client mail. Instead when I force the unknown attachment to open it says the below with a string of letters.
    --Apple-Mail-37--496662089
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
    Content-Type: application/applefile;
    name=daft3.swf
    Content-Disposition: attachment;
    filename=daft3.swf
    AAUWBwACAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIAAAAJAAAAMgAAAAoAAAADAAAAPAAAAAlTV0ZMU1dG
    MgBAZGFmdDMuc3dm
    --Apple-Mail-37--496662089
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
    Content-Type: application/octet-stream;
    x-mac-type=5357464C;
    x-unix-mode=0744;
    x-mac-creator=53574632;
    name=daft3.swf
    Content-Disposition: attachment;
    filename=daft3.swf

    Try creating an archive of the SWF file (.zip) and email that instead. But the recipient needs to have an application on their PeeCee that will open SWF files; Outlook or Outlook Express will not do that.

  • Mac Mail sending messy code attachments to windows

    I've sync 6 different mail accounts to my Mac Mail, but what it troubles me is that when I send Chinese emails with attchemnt (in Chinese too) the reciever Widonow users keep getting messy code with somthing like (鍛@?鍗$墖.docx).
    I've been look every where on Google can't find any good solution. I know that changing my Text Encoding works but I can't set it to defualt
    I know there's an updates that windows can download so that they read mac's uni code, but I can't find the download link.
    If I switch to Office Outlook would I still get this problem? or is there any better way that Apple can help me to solve this?

    To thoughs just been searching, I just came across a app that actually solve this problem (well at least for Chinese attachment).
    It's a new app develop by tencent called foxmail (http://foxmail.com.cn) it works fine for me.
    you guys can go check it out. But this app's interface isn't as good as mac mail, but at least my colleagues stopped complaining at the mess code problem.

  • Mac mail send problem

    hi
    a problem with mac mail. while the laptop is at the office the mail program works fine, out of office it does not - it recives mail but does not send. we have our own mail server (leopard server) it's on the office network. We use IMAP. We connect via VPN to our office network so the SMTP is always the same. When the folder username-library-mail is deleted mail recreates it and sends mails for some time but then stops.
    Thunderbird in the same macbook works fine using same SMTP port
    what causes this phenomena?

  • Unloaded images in mac mail

    My mac mail recently has been giving me the "this message contains unloaded images" every time I get an email unless it is just text. I haven't changed any preferences or security of any kind. Does anyone else have this problem?

    I don't think it's a problem, because those images are probably from an HTML email message and your Preferences are probably set not to load them when opening a message. If that's the case, there should be a button at the top right of the message window to load those images.
    Also, are you still running 10.4.7 as your profile states? If so, you need to upgrade to 10.4.11 immediately and update your profile; this will fix a number of bugs an security vulnerabilities, as well as letting you run the latest version of Safari.

  • Mac mail sending issue

    Hi,
    I'm using Mac Mail to send my emails. I have them set up using IMAP with GoDaddy hosting my emails.
    For some reason Mac Mail is not saving / recording all sent emails, especially emails sent with attachments. The recipient is receiving them all so they've definitely been sent, but they're not appearing in the sent items / sent folders.

    Try rebuilding the mailbox. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.

  • Mac Mail sending out multiple e-mails

    Dear All,
    My friend reports that today he is receiving 3 copies of every e-mail message that I send him.  I'm working on a Mac Pro, Lion 10.7.5, using Mac Mail through Yahoo, and I have only one account.  I have an iPod touch, but I have never sent e-mail through that device nor signed up for it on the iPod -- I only use my Mac desktop for sending and receiving e-mails.  Anyone else having this recent problem?  I never had it before today!  Thanks.

    Are you sure it's the Mac sending out the spam, or just spam masquerading as coming from your email account (the From: line is ridiculously simple to forge)?
    While it's clearly possible to devise a system to cause a Mac to send out spam email (or any other computer for that matter), it wouldn't be terribly efficient for the spammer.  Even when they take over zombie machines (and unpatched Windows XP systems are the favorites there) the spammer would prefer to use the machine to send out all kinds of email *AND* would attempt not to draw attention to the actual machine sending out the stuff.
    That is, where it *appears* to be coming from will generally not be where it is coming from.
    What malware prefers to do is "harvest" an address book from a user's computer (or, more often these days, from an online address book after phishing the credentials from the user) and then using that to send out emails to your contacts that look like they come from you so that they are more likely to be opened.  If that's what has happened, there's nothing you could do to the Mac at this point to get that data back.
    Again, while it is clearly possible to harvest that data under either OSX or Windows 7 from your address book in either platform, it is considerably more difficult to do that than to go after your credentials for an online site using a phishing attack and then make use of the contact information.

  • MAC Mail - Sends Mail but mail never arrives at destination

    Hi,
    I have Leopard installed and am using MAC Mail for email. I connect to Virgin email servers for mail. Mostly this works fine, however I have found that sometimes I send email to contacts and it never arrives and never bounces back. I think it only happens when I click 'Reply' on emails. The addresses are correct and I never get a bounce back. Anyone had this problem?

    Hmm…I see two problems here: one is that your profile says you're running 10.4.10; if that's true, then you should update to 10.4.11 immediately, and you're in the wrong forum. If that's not the case, you need to update your profile so it accurately reflects the specific version of OS X you're running. And FYI: there is no MAC Mail; it's Mac. MAC is an acronym for something completely different.
    As for your problem, as long as the mail is sent, what happens to it after that is out of your control. It's possible that Virgin is experiencing problems with their mail servers to that some of these emails are deleted before they ever reach their destination, and it's also possible that the recipients' ISP is experiencing that kind of problem, but it would be rare. It's more likely that something in the subject or the body of the email you're sending is being flagged as spam and that the recipient or their ISP puts them into a Spam type folder or just deletes them before they ever reach the recipient. Since I don't know what kind of emails you send or to whom, I can't be sure, but I'd ask my recipients about this first, then my ISP.

  • Images in mac mail (reading pane especially)

    When I open mac mail (and sometimes the internet) images do not automatically resize to fit the screen (reading pane). I have to scroll around to see the full image. I have tried adjusting the panes and font size, but it doesn't work. This normally occurs with newsletter type emails. Does anyone know how to get the emails to fit the page again? They remain not correctly sized when I open them out of the reading pane to full size as well (meaning I still have to scroll around). Font only emails seem to not be affected.
    I did not have this problem until the Genius bar erased my user id and created a new account last weekend.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

    When sending a reply to a mac mail message that originally had several people in the distribution the reply message will send to everyone in the distribution even if you manually take out an address from the message you are sending out.

  • Mac Mail sends but does not receive

    Hi
    Big problem!
    Just upgraded to Lion - and this problem was on Snow Leopard too - I tried to upgrade to sort this out!
    Mail sends emails but does not recieve.
    I own the server where it is trying to connect to - the emails are there - I can see them through webmail.
    I have set up different email accounts on Mail and exactly the same for all domains and email accounts.
    I have re-installed Mail - exactly the same happens.
    I have used Thunderbird and it works!
    So it has to be a Mail problem. Server is fine, OS is fine, other email is fine. Mail is the problem.
    I think it has to do with keychain? Not sure though... I have tried literally hundreds of things but nothing works and I am at my wits end and run out of ideas!
    Any suggestions would be warmly received!!
    Thanks in advance
    Rob

    Hi,
    I have the same problem with my incoming mail.  I talked to the folks at Frontier (my ISP). They verified that a
    test message I had sent was received.  All account info appeared to be ok.  I click on "get mail"  and I do not
    receive any new incoming messages.  All connections succeed Using Connection Doctor, although the connection to smtp.frontiernet.net spins quite awhile before succeeding.
    While I was composing this reply, I decided to try to send a test message to my wife's account.  It came
    through ok.  I think I might have to contact Frontier again on this.  When I set her account up they gave me a
    different Incoming Mail Server name to use:  pop3.frontier.com, whereas mine is: pop3.frontiernet.net.  I believe
    new accounts are being assigned to: pop3.frontier.com.
    Also, when I'm showing all inboxes,  Mine all have a symbol after them that looks like a lazy z.  I am not familiar
    with this symbol, but since I'm having trouble, I suspect it is telling me something. Help on this??
