    Hi
    I am trying to set up mail server for a planning application 11.1.2.3.Under Administration > Application Settings > Advanced Settings > System Settings tab, I cannot find the Email server option.
    Where can i enter the details for email server in 11.1.2.3?

    "Administrators must specify the email server details before others can enable email notification. The email server details for approvals notifications come from the EPM Registry, which are set using the EPM System Configurator under Common Settings."

    A heavily loaded question
    First off, are you talking about SMTP? IMAP? POP?
    Secondly, what are you trying to achieve, specifically?
    Due to the nature of the protocols, SMTP is pretty fault tolerant, and multiple SMTP servers don't, necessarily, need to be aware of each other, so 'clustering' SMTP could be a matter of setting up multiple servers in parallel and just load balancing your traffic across them. Nothing difficult there.
    IMAP (and POP, if you use it) are different since they affect the user's mailbox and what they see in their mail client. In the worst case, failing over to a different server could render the user's mail inaccessible. For this reason, in high availability scenarios, the actual mailboxes are usually stored on some shared resource such as a SAN - that way any IMAP server can access the user's mailboxes. Of course, this just moves the failure domain from the mail server to the storage server, but for the most part that's a better-known entity.
    At the end of the day you need to balance complexity and availability. It is possible to build highly available systems with virtually no downtime and automatic failover. In many cases, though, tolerating a few minutes (or even hours) of downtime while a crashed server is rebooted/rebuilt is not the end of the world.
    You'll need to provide more details of your goals before anyone can be more specific.

  • Setting up mail server

    Hi everyone,
    just a quick question,
    I run an open directory server, and I also want it to act as a mail server.
    On our last server(10.4) this is all working fine, when new employees arrive, I add them in the open directory using workgroup manager, and automatically when I go to the mail service in the server Admin window, under maintenance>accounts their mail account appears.
    now I am setting up our new machine (10.5.7)
    and I want a new mail server, no need to import or migrate anything.
    But when I create my user in workgroup manager, use it to log in on a client, it gets kerberos authenticated, recieves all the proper tickets,
    but I set up mail on the client, and he asks for kerberos password, although he has an IMAP ticket active, and when I provice the details he says he cant even find the user on the kerberos.
    then I checked the accounts on the mail service maintance, and see that that user does not have an account there.
    so, when and how exactly are mailbox accounts generated?
    thanks.

    Found it, with all my messing around, I put in some /etc/hosts settings, removed those, worked like a charm

  • Set up mail server on 10.9

    I am looking to set up a mail server for testing some PHP script on my Mac. The problem is that it's running 10.9 and I can't find anything at all online about setting up a server on here. I don't really know how I would go about doing it, so if someone could provide a full explanation, I would be very grateful.
    Thanks.

    Hi Jeff, do you have 10.9 Client, or the 10.9 Server add-on?

  • Setting up Mail Server with SSL

    Hey guys,
    Unless I'm missing some fundamental stuff, I'm having some nasty problems getting SSL to work with OS X Server 10.4 Mail. As of right now, I have it working with Apache without a problem using a nopass key and the other required files.. I have:
    domain.crt
    domain.csr
    domain.key
    domain.nopass.key
    gd_intermediate.chcrt
    Now when I try going into server admin and simply using the crt, key and chcrt and enabling IMAP/POP and/or SMTP:
    SMTP just stops working and hangs all together.
    IMAP and POP via SSL I've gotten working but i get the "not signed certificate" window that pops up.
    Also, when this started, I noticed that upon changing the settings, mail would stop working all together, but I did read a bit about a line that shows up in /etc/imapd.conf:
    tlscommonname:
    which causes mail to hang, and I've learned to delete that/comment it out.
    Is there a way to easily set this up/can i do it via command line via imapd.conf and main.cf?

    Hello,
    I have an IMAP email address with lots of folders in it and filters on the server that route the emails to a specific folder by different rules.
    Does anybody have any idea about how could I make the email application show all the folders in my inbox? By default I can only see the emails in my inbox and that is useless because most of the important emails go into folders and this application doesn't synchronize the folders. I have to go into each folder by selecting the more folders option and only then it searches for new email, but when you have around 30 folders it's kind of time consuming to select "more folders", navigate to a folder go into that specific folder and see if you've got any mail. Not to mention the stupid sorting options at the right which can't be removed and every time you open the email it goes to the default date setting and it's showing the email divided into days. Who thought that would be useful?
    I've also had an e66 and the mail application worked flawlessly ( you could see all the folders, how many unread messages you had in each folder, the emails sorted by date with the unread messages first).
    Does anybody know a good email application that can be installed on this phone, or how could I install the old email application (e66, e71), which for me worked perfectly.
    Thank you.

  • Can you set up mail server for 2 domains?

    we have emails using 2 different domains. The first domain has the mail set up on mac server and is running fine. We would now like to add our second email domain to this server as well. Can we do this?

    Hmm.  Good to know.  However, it sounds a little intimidating.  I guess it is not a tool you can just launch like Server Admin Tools with a nice-looking user-interface, right?  Even though I've installed and ran Windows SBS 2003 since 2003 and just setup a Mac Mini Server, I am not that comfortable when it comes to terminal-level commands, port mapping this, port mapping that, X11, Xcode, etc.  Is there a step-by-step configuration guide out there that you are aware?  I'll start to look around.

  • Is it possible to set up mail server?

    I have a few sites on my computer under virtual hosts that I am developing. I wanted to know if is is possible to get the computer to enable me to somehow send mail. Simply put, for instance I am making a login form with a Forgot my Password link, and I want to test out the mail functionality.
    Is there any way to do this? I am looking preferably for an offline method of testing, but if need be online works. I am using PHP as the server-side scripting, and the build of PHP that came with Leopard.

  • Mail Server Relay Authentication Failure in Server Admin

    I need to set up Mail Server to relay through my ISP.  I know that I can authenticate to smtp.comcast.net:587 using my account and TLS usnig a mail client.
    However, when I use Server Admin to configure my server's SMTP to send all outgoing email through this relay (Server Admin>Mail>Settings>General>
    Rely outgoing mail through host: smtp.comcast.net:587
             Authenticate to rely with user name: user
    I get the SMTP error:
    SASL authentication failed: cannot authenticate to server smtp.comcast.net[76.96.62.117]: no mechanism available
    There are no toggles on Server Admin to specify TLS or SSL or anything for authentication.
    Does anyone know how to tell Server Admin how to authenticate an SMTP relay to smtp.comcast.net using TLS, which is apparently what comcast expects?

    Wow, this is an obscure solution, but it works. According to this thread, the problem is that:
    Although Comcast advertises "AUTH LOGIN PLAIN", the Postfix SASL library won't do plain text auth by default. It needs to be told it's okay with:
    smtp_sasl_security_options = noanonymous
    Solution:
    $ su -
    $ cd /etc/postfix
    $ cp main.cf main.cf.no_smtp_sasl_security_options
    $ echo 'smtp_sasl_security_options = noanonymous' >> ./main.cf
    $ serveradmin stop mail
    $ serveradmin start mail
    I'm not sure how often /etc/postfix/main.cf is overwritten, but presumably this happens every time you change and save Mail settings in Server Admin, so you must redo these steps every time you change the Mail server if you want to use smtp.comcast.net as your mail relay.
    AAPL, would you please add a toggle to handle this in Server Admin?

  • Mail and secondary mail server.

    Hello.
    As I am working on my mail server I would like to ensure that I have some form of back system to prevent me from looosing e-mail messages in the future, specially those that are business related. Once in a while we experience a power outage and I would hate to loose an important business e-mail sent to us at a time when the mail server is down.
    Questions:
    1. Is there a way to have/use a remote secondary mail server so that in case an e-mail is sent but can't be delivery to our mail server, it is then re-routed to this secondary mail server so that it isn't lost. In this case how should this be set-up both on the server in OS X 1.6.8 and on the outside?
    2. I plan to set up an account with Google or another e-mai service provider but would like my e-mail to use my own domain name instead. How simple would this be to set UP? Will Google allow the creation of e-mail accounts with the use of domain names other than its own?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi, capaho.
    I just called GoDaddy (my registrar) and this time didn't get much help. My experience with GoDaddy has been nothing but extremely positive. Their customer service is one of the best I have experienced but today in particular I wasn't so lucky as the gentleman in technical support to helped me on the phone sounded very inexperienced and seemed to know less about this than I do (and that takes effort).
    Both solutions you mentioned sound good to me and I do agree that having the e-mail forwarded to another acount would likely be the simplest solution. But how would I set this up ? How can I setup my account settings at GoDaddy so that when e-mail comes in it is directed to my server as the MX Record points to it, but a copy is also forwarded to a GMail or other similar e-mail account ?
    It is important to me for this process to take place BEFORE not AFTER it hits my server. I have grown concerned about loosing business opportunities and facing financial losses from e-mails that are not delivered to me properly. My server can fail for a multitude of reason and I wish to prevent this.
    > If your mail server has a fatal error that would kill mail on the first pass,it would be
    > affecting all mail, not just some messages, so it's unlikely you have such a problem.
    I have had this happen before and this is one of the reasons I am trying to establish some form of redundancy so it doesn't happen again in the future.
    > You could set the mail server to forward all undeliverable mail to the admin mail account
    > in Server Admin.  That would make sure you didn't miss any messages, but you would
    > likely start getting a lot of spam that would otherwise bounce.
    How can I do this ? Can this be setup so that all undeliverable mail is forwarded to the admin account UNLESS it is undeliverable because the system has found it to be spam ? In other words, if the e-mail is undeliverable because the user account has been deleted or the address can't be found on the server the message would then be forwarded to the admin account. On the other hand, if the system has judged the e-mail to be spam it would then just be treated as such.
    Any help you can offer with this issues will be very appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Setting up "Mail" on iTouch (new update)

    I downloaded the new update along with the new widgets etc. However when i go to "Mail" I only get Yahoo Mail, Gmail, Mac mail, and AOL mail. Could anyone please explain to me how to setup the mail for hotmail? I am having some troubles setting it up. For example, under the setting "Incoming Mail Server" the Host Name, User Name and Password, how do i fill these up? And the "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" How do I fill the heading of those out? Seems kind of ignorant adding so many e-mails but not hotmail even though it's one of the most popular emails around. Anyways any help will be appreciated. Thanks
    Nik

    POP3 Server: pop3.live.com (port 995)
    SMTP Server: smtp.live.com (port 25)
    Note: Make sure to mark the box that indicates that your "outgoing server requires authentication" since in most email clients, this is not checked by default.
    Username: Your full email address (including @hotmail.com or @msn.com)
    Password: Your Windows Live ID password
    Important: Our POP3 service requires that you use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) with the POP and SMTP connection and use SMTP authentication.
    This got the system working on my itouch after upgrading to a live plus account. However I cannot choose which emails to retrieve and it;'s only showing me emails from 2007. If anyone can assist I'd appreciate it.

    Just key in Mail server parameters any where in mdis.ini file...
    Regards
    Vikrant M Kelkar

    Hi Vikrant,
    As far as I know,the Mdis.ini file is the system configuration file that determines the settings to be done for enabling automatic Importing the parameters to be set in the mdis are:
    [Global]
    Version
    Server
    Interval
    Verbose1
    Log Dir
    SLD Registration
    [Repository_Name]
    Chunk Size2
    No. Of Chunks Processed In Parallel1
      Login
      Password
      PasswordE
    Log Protocol Transactions
    Inter-Chunk Delay MS3
    There is no option to set the mail server details here.
    However in the Mds.ini file we have:
    Mail server:
    Mail SMTP time out:
    These parameters will enable the mail settings for sending mail through MDM.
    I may be wrong, but this is what the sap guide talks about and also the blog speaks about the settings required in the mds.ini file
    If theres somthing different you've done, we can discuss it futher
    Hope It Helped

    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
    I know that it can be frustrating when an email account, such as your Gmail accounts, are not working as you would expect. In this situation I would recommend reading over and working through the attached article. The Connection Doctor may provide some further information as to what is causing the errors.
