Attributes of an InfoObject in a Filter Pane web item.

Hi All.
I need the some wisdom
I have a Web template developed in WAD. 7.0. In this template, we have a filter pane web item for selecting values of the characteristic 0MATERIAL. It works properly but when I open the filter pane the 0material values appear with ALL ITS ATTRIBUTES (around 70) and that is very annoying.
So, the question: is there any way to restrict the number of the attibutes displayed in the window? I only want to show the material number and its description.

Hi Montero,
I also had similar problem earlier , i had solved by making changes in the properties of that particular characterstic.
That is click on particular characteristic and in properties pane goto advanced tab there you can see Query Execution for filter value selection here try changing to "only posted values for navigation" .

2004s Navigation Pane web item customization

Hello. I have a question regarding the navigation pane web item using the Web Application Designer 7.0. In the 3.5 version we had the capability of selecting specific characteristics to include in our navigation blocks. For example, our data provider might be an ad hoc query with numerous free characteristics. However, in the web template we would only include a subset of those characteristics in our navigation block.
Now when using the 7.0 tool it appears as though when adding the navigation pane web item I can only select rows, columns, query view, or free characteristics. Is my only option to create a query view on my base ad hoc query to limit the characteristics I want?
Any advice on this particular web item would be sincerely appreciated.

I think what you may be after is called NAV_CHARACTERISTIC_SEL and is documented in the following page

From the SAP documentation this enhancement to the navigational pane should be available as part of SPS14.

WAD 7.0 - Navigation Pane Web Item with Old 3.x features

Hi Experts,
Is there a way to get the WAD 3.x version Navigation pane in WAD 7.0.
Navigation pane in WAD 7.0 is missing those "beautiful navigation icons" to add/remove a free char. into rows/columns and also to set filter values.
We are on the latest SP - BW 7.0.
Any suggestions, will be appreciated.

I struggled with the same issue ...
but here is a sollution. don not select a navigation pane but use the filter pane.
in the filterpane you can define the number of kollums.
and with drag and drop from the filter pane to the report you can use the same functions as wth the navigation pane.

How to use one Filter Pane to multiple Dataproviders

Hi Experts.
i have checked the threads on this but i did not get correct solution.
we have issue in using single Filter pane web item in WAD for three different dataproviders ( three dataproviders have same free charecteristics and variable) charecteristics in row and keyfigures are different.

WAD: Applying Filters Once with Filter Panes or Dropdowns

Hi
We have Dashboards created using BI7 version on Web App Designer. We are currently using Dropdowns to filter on several characteristics.
We are considering changing our dropdowns to use a Filter Pane Web Item. But are looking for an option where we can select multiple filters before they get applied so that the app does not apply one filter at a time.
Is this possible with either the Filter Pane Web Item or Dropdown Web Item? Would prefer the Filter Pane Web Item solution.

Hi.
Yes, a filter pane will allow you to set values for multiple characteristics and then hit a button to refresh. You need to UNcheck the "automatic apply" in the properties. The pane will then have the button to update.

Well, you can do this in a workaround way:
you can use dummy data providers for the dropdown menus, so the system still updates the dataprovider, but because it's not used in your web template for anything else than this, nothing changes in the template. Once you have set all of the dropdowns, you can set a button up to pass the values from these dummy DP's to the "real" ones, to make the content of the template change.
You are able to control the performance of these dummy providers, by keeping the number of records low (aggregates or separate datamarts), so it works, but because you still actually refresh with each change, it's not really a "smooth" feeling...

Filter pane to affect multiple data providers

Hi all,
I have a filter pane and I need it to affect more then 1 DP.
I saw that there will be a solution in which the selection will not apply automatically, but an apply button will be added so I'll be able to modify it, but this is still not supported.
I've read somewhere in SDN that this option should be available on SPS13. I'm using SPS13 and still the option is not available.
Any suggestions for a workaround?

WAD: Height of Filter pane not displayed correctly in SPS14

Hi Experts,
I just moved to SPS14 and I noticed on our Web Templates that Filter Pane are reduced in comparison with what I had in SPS10.
For Instance, for an height of 18 I was able to display properly 2 dropdown boxes in Filter pane. Now I am not able to see them unless I increase height.
Is it related to a new function of SPS14?

italics What worked was another possible way, e.g. to maintain the SAPBWKEY in the Arcview software delivered by ESRI. Using the Arcmap -application.
-Rightclick on the respective layer, then 'Open Attribute Table'
-Press Button 'Options': Add field. Name = SAPBWKEY, 'Type' depending on your characteristic
-Next Step: Editor ( a menue you need to load into ArcMap) --Start Editing
-Then again: Rightclick on the respective layer, then 'Open Attribute Table'
-Now you can maintain values for the SAPBWKEY
-Editor: Stop Editing (save changes)
Rightclick on the respective layerData-Export data
The last step exports the modified shapes files, which can then imported to your info object.italics

Navigational attribute Vs normal infoobject in Query

I have some infoobjects named ..1)ITEM....2)STATUS....3)SALES etc in cubes...
I have to design a query showing this data...the report should show Item Status also...I can use normal infoobject STATUS from infocube in report to show Item Status....I have one more possibilitySTATUS is added as navigational attribute of infoobject ITEM..So I can use this navigational attribute also..which one should I use normal infoobject STATUS or navigational attribute STATUS of infoobject ITEM to show item status in report?how to decide on this?

Status as direct Object
When you use Status as an object added in cube you get the data of the day the cube was loaded. Let say for example your cube is loaded weekely on sundays, so the field status will give status as on sunday, even when it is run on other subsequent days of the week. So as correctly pointed in above posts values you get in status are not real time but historical.
Status as Navigational Attr of Item
When you use Status as Navigational attribute of Item then you get current data because in almost all cases Master Data Objects are loaded on daily basis and thus it picks the latetst Status of Items.
In case your cube is loaded daily then it won't make much difference that whether you are using it as a standalone object or as navigational attribute of Item.

What have you set for the property "Maximum number of displayed values for the filter item"(ENTRIES_MAX_COUNT). This property is of the dropdown item and I think 50 is the default. Increase this value. May be this helps.

Rich Client Query Filter Pane question

I've browsed through various forums without finding an answer to my problem. I'm frustrated and hope someone else has been there/done that and can offer a suggestion to ease my pain.
We're using BOXI 3.0, and my question is specifically about deciphering/maintaining the contents of the query filter pane in InfoView and/or Web Intelligence Rich Client.
We have some complicated reports with numerous optional prompts. We realize this is not optimal, but need to maintain this reports until we can replace them.
The filter panes are very complicated, since there are so many prompts, ANDs, and ORs and nested statements.
Is there a way to see which universe component a query filter field is connected to? In the query results pane (on top), I can click on a field and it's source is highlighted in the universe tree view on the left. That doesn't happen when you click a field in the query filter pane.
Is there some way I've not found yet, or is this an enhancement request for BOE? Thanks in advance.

I guess this an enhancement request for BOE because I've never seen an option like that. And I really wish that option existed.
The only way I could think of to solve this problem is renaming all the objects of your universe. This way you may know what class any object is related to when using the query filter panel.
For example: You have 3 classes in the universe: Users, Quotes, Invoices. Rename them with a prefix, let's say:
U-Users
Q-Quotes
I-Invoices
Then all the objects belonging to Users must be renamed with the U- prefix:
U-User name
U-User id
And the same applies for the other classes objects:
Q-Quotes:
    Q-quote id
    Q-User id
     Q-Amount
I-Invoices:
   I-Invoice id
   I-Quote id
   I-Amount
So if in one query filter panel you have a filter using the object Quote id, you'll see if this Quote id comes from Quotes or Invoices, because of the prefix Q- or I-.
I don't know if it is a good practice but I hope it helps.

Document attribute ticked on InfoObject which is nav attribute

Hi SDN Community,
We have recently enhanced a query, by removing a natural characteristic Cost Centre Category ZCOBCAT that exists in an infocube, and replaced this with a characteristic which is a navigational attribute - CC Func Code ZCCFUNCCD.
eg. characteristic value with was CC11 is now 11 with this change
On both these characteristics, in the infoObject properties, the "Document attribute" checkbox is ticked.
However, we find that when storing commentary functionality, the comments are applicable against the whole infoObject ZCCFUNCCD. Eg. If the variable input parameters are 11, the comments, are retrieved against 11, and every other value against the ZCCFUNCCD characteristic.
Is it such that navigable attributes enabled against multiproviders will not allow the "Document attribute" against the infoobject to work?
Or is it such i have to enable some other parameter against the Multiprovider or infocube that i have overlooked.

Thank you both for your answers.
As you have indicated, i have verified this:
1) the "Attribute Only" in the Miscallaneous area in the General tab of the infoObject is unticked
2) the "Characteristic is a document attribu" in the Miscallaneous area in the General tab of the infoObject is TICKED as this is what allows storing of documents against the infoObject, and is ticked in the original InfoObject. Are we saying here this should be unticked?
3) ZCCFUNCCD is flagged as a Navigational Attribute in all InfoProviders
4) I have also verified that the Multiprovider has all the assignment correctly ticked for the ZCCFUNCCD is ticked for all the InfoProviders.
What i do find different, is that if i look at 0COSTCENTER, then the attribute ZCCFUNCCD, has a check in the column "Texts of Char." But this should not be causing any issue as this is only using the same description for the Navigational Attribute Display in the queries.
Any other suggestions would be most helpful thanks.

SAP BW 7.3: RSTRAN018 after adding attribute to an infoobject

Hello,
i added an attribute to an infoobject and tried to activate this. In the log messages i received the message RSTRAN018 "Generation status of transformation XY will be reset".
I never got this message in SAP BW 7.0. Is this just a kind of information (new in Release BW 7.3) which can be ignored or does it has an impact on the transformation in which the infoobject ist used (e.g. inactivation of the transformation)?
In general the adding of an attribute to an infoobject shouldn't affect the transformations in which the infoobject is used.

You are correct this text is added to BW 7.30 (onwards I guess). The message is purely for Information purposes and the transformation should not be deactivated and will remain active/usable. This was confimed by SAP dev.

DrillDown on Filter Pane

We had an option to display drilldown chars on Filter Pane in 3.5 WAD but i don't see that option in filter pane in NW04's WAD.

Hide filter pane of EVCVW function

Hi,
We use the function EVCVW(AppName, Dimension, FilterList).
=EVCVW("PRESU";"ENTE";"TIPENTSEC95=A")
When we double click in a cell containing the function, it shows the pop-up with the dimension members and filter pane.
We want to hide this filter pane so that the user can not change options that we have put in the parameter FilterList of the function EVCVW.

the cell that containts the EVCVW function is blocked and the workbook has a psw.
with the EVCVW function the user can choose from a list of the dimension member a certain property which are equal to a certain value.
we want to block or not shown on the right side of the window for selection of members.
we know there is a button that shows and hides it, but even hide it using the EVCVW function is always displayed when you double-click

R/3 hierarchy in attributes for a Infoobject.

Anybody knows how to convert a R/3 hierarchy in attributes for a Infoobject.
For example. We have the merchandise hierarchy in R/3 for material and we want to transform in several attributes of the 0material infoobject.

Do you want to convert the hierarchy nodes as attributes of the info object? If so, try this:
Load the hierarchy to an ODS.
Keep the nodes as attrbutes of the info object.
From ODS load the info object.
