Audio Book  -  file organization

Hi all. New to iPod and iTunes. I am importing an AudioBook that I purchased. Having a problem with the joined files not being in the correct order - two "albums" have formed with the joined tracks appearing in random order between the two albums. How do I get them in the correct order? Album names are identical.
Thanks,
Kris

I am having a similar problem and would like to know how you resolved this issue.
Thanks

    This is grandma63, so you know at this age, I have a lot to learn. I downloaded an audio book file that has an extension of .odm. I cannot unzip it or move it anywhere to put it on my I-touch. Can anyone help me with this. Be very descriptive. I'm not real smart. Thank you

    You're really in the wrong discussion area. You'd be better off in the iTouch or iPhone group.

  • How to play next audio book file/chapter?

    Trying to setup an ipad2 for my mother and load some of her audio books on it.  The audio books are mostly in mp3 format with some being in m4a.  Books are marked as audio book format.
    Problem is that when placed on the ipad and accessed by going through music -> more -> audio books, the books appear, selecting one shows all files/parts of the book, but when playing, it does not advance to next file.  Particular problem in which some books are split into 3 minute chunks per file.
    Taking the same files and placing them on my ipod 5.5, they play fine and auto-advance fine.
    Any ideas?

    After selecting an audio book, if you select a file/chapter directly, it will play only that file/chapter and NOT continue to the next one. Also, no icon (speaker) is shown for the files/chapter being played.
    If instead you press the play button at top left (not main focus on screen), then the book starts playing from beginning, an icon is present next to file/chapter, and the files/chapter are played sequentially automatically.

  • How to get audio book files into the audio books library?

    I have recently imported some of my own audio books from cd to iTunes. They are now located in the music library, but I would like to have them in the audio book library. But no matter what I try I can't move them. Can anyone help me?
    I have tried dragging the files and the folders, creating playlists and dragging them, importing files and folders, but nothing works. Is it impossible to do?

    It's easy to make audiobooks so long as you start off with AAC files (.m4a). If your books are in MP3 format, either rerip the book from CD into AAC or else convert MP3 to AAC. In iTunes there is an AAC choiced called "Spoken Podcast" that's great for making audiobooks (Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Importing).

  • Help with WMA Audio book files not being compatible with Droid 2

    I am trying to download a ebook that is in Overdrive Media Console onto my droid x2.  When I try to transfer onto my droid, it says the format of this title(WMA Audiobook) is not compatible with the Motorola MB870 USB device. (MOT)  Is there a 3rd party app that I can use and if so , how do you use it.

    Hi Lb1964,
    You should be able to find an application in the market to get eBooks on your Droid 2. I would recommend going to the market and search, using the keyword "Books." You can also follow these steps in the device itself.
    Google Ebooks
    Find it: > Books
    To browse and select books, touch Get eBooks.Browse by category, or touch and search for a title or author. Touch a book to view more information about it. Touch Get Sample to get a free sample. To buy a book, touch the displayed price. After you confirm the purchase, the book is added to your library. Flick left and right to see more books in your library.
    You are able to view the User's Manual for this device here:

    I hope this information is helpful for you, Lb1964!
    Have a good day!

  • How to Organize Many Audio Book Chapters?

    I'd love pointers to tutorials or tips regarding how to organize audiobooks. I ripped an audiobook that resulted in 60 different chapter files. My itunes is a wreck because of all the small files.
    Is there a way to group them to one file and not have them clutter up the main list of audio book files?
    Is there a way to put all those little files into a playlist and not have them show is the main list of audiobook files?
    Thanks

  • Unable to change file type to audio book; previously able to.

    I have some audio book files (mp3) that I have added to my iTunes library and am trying to change the type to "audio book" by doing the standard right click and get info and changing to audio book etc.  However, iTunes is only actually changing them to audio books some of the time; the books that are and are not converting are both the same file type (mp3). Whenever it does not change it over, iTunes literally does not do anything (as in it does not try to change it and then fail). I am unsure what the issue is, can anyone help? Thanks!

    Hi,
    There is no preference but it turns out you can manually edit one of the preferences.xml files to force PL/SQL types to use the SQL worksheet editor. For SQL Developer 3.2.20.09.87 that file is system3.2.20.09.87\o.sqldeveloper.11.2.0.9.87\preferences.xml and will be located (on Windows 7, for example) in directory C:\Users\<userid>\AppData\Roaming\SQL Developer
    No guarantee this will work in future versions of the product, but for now you can add the following two xml blocks...
    For example, for .pls, add to <extensionToContentTypeMap ...>
                <Item>
                   <Key>.pls</Key>
                   <Value>TEXT</Value>
                </Item>
    and <userExtensionList>
                <Item>
                   <docClassName>oracle.ide.db.model.SqlNode</docClassName>
                   <userExtensions class="java.util.ArrayList">
                      <Item class="oracle.ide.config.DocumentExtensions$ExtInfo">
                         <extension>.pls</extension>
                         <locked>false</locked>
                      </Item>
                   </userExtensions>
                </Item> I researched this a while back after reading through some forum thread where someone claimed the PL/SQL file extensions got opened in the SQL editor in his environment, but without stating any specific release information. Possibly it worked for him then due to different product behavior (whether intentional or a bug), or perhaps even due to the technique described above.

  • Audio books on CD to .aa files

    I use my ipod nano 3rd gen. for audio books that I import from cds I get from the library. Is there a way to make them .aa files so that I can bookmark, etc.

    Hello Catty A.,
    One thing you could do, is to trick iTunes into thinking they are audio book files by changing their *Media Type* in iTunes.
    To do this, locate the audio book files in iTunes, control->click on them and choose "*Get Info*" from the shortcut menu. From there, head over to the Options tab. There should be an option for *Media Type* with a drop down list next to it. Make sure it is set to Audiobook. then hit ok when you are finished and sync the updated changes to your iPod.
    These files will now recognized as audio book files. Does that do the trick for you?

  • Help needed with audio books

    Could someone please tell me how i get an audio book to appear under the category "Audio books". Everytime i import an audio book into itunes it shows up as a song file and ends up in the middle of all my songs instead of its own category? ? ?

    Only audiobooks from ITMS, audible.com and AAC files with m4b extensions (applescripts for mac) show up in audiobook main menu, skip in main menu shuffle, and allow faster/slower/normal playback speed.

  • IPod touch 2.0 firmware and Audio Books

    Hi, it was an interesting day trying to upgrade yesterday
    That aside now that I am using 2.0 my iPod touch won't play my Audio Book for George Orwells 1984. It is a 9+ hour Audio Book all in one file. The iPod looks like it's going to play the file, then flips the image, and then slides back to my selection screen.
    The file plays perfectly in my iTunes but once again fails when I remove and then resync the file on my iPod. I converted this Audio Book file from mp3 format and at first thought that might be the problem (although it played fine with the 1.1.4 firmware). As a test I formatted another mp3 Audio Book in the natural iPod Audio Book format. This smaller (2 hour) file played fine.
    As a secondary test I converted 1984 into smaller chapters and unsurprisingly they all played fine individually. My gripe is that I don't want to have to remember what chapter I'm on when I go back to listen to my Audio Book. I feel like this might have to do with the sheer length of time the Audio Book spans but I am disappointed that it worked so well in firmware 1.1.4 and is failing to work at all in 2.0.
    I'm just throwing this out there hoping someone can give me some insight about what to do. As it stands I'm considering dropping back to 1.1.4 because I'm also having considerable issues properly syncing my calendars, which is one of my favorite things about iPod touch.
    Thanks sincerely,
    Gregor

    Hi Gregor,
    Holidaze posted a similar problem and I responded in length to that one. I have the same problem. In a nutshell I did some testing and narrowed it down a little bit. I can play up to a 1.6 megabyte file(5 cds of mp3s that I converted over) but when I tried a 1.9 megabyte file (6 cds of converted mp3s) it doesn't work (same problem as you with the sliding back to the previous screen). So somewhere between 1.6 and 1.9 megabyte file it gets too big for the new firmware. Sounds like a bug to me. I don't know why they would purposefully remove functionality so surely it is a bug.

  • Importing my MP3s into Audio books

    I have several old audio book tapes and CDs that I have converted to MP3. I can get them imported to my ipod 4th gen non color. They are just setup as a playlist called audio books. Here is my problem, I would like to import them into the Audio books file system so that when I start purchaseing books from itunes all of my books are together.
    Am I just missing something here or can this not be done. Any ideas would be heplful.

  • Downloading and installing audio books

    I have a 4GB Nano with about 1 GB used. I downloaded my first audio book yesterday. It is on my computer, but I can't get it into iTunes and I've tried everything I can think of. I don't get any error messages that tell me why this isn't working. It's an MP3 file, 74,000kb. Can someone give me a little help, please?

  • Is it possible to transfer an mp4 audio book from my computer to be used off-line on an ipad

    Is it possible to save an audio book file on the ipad, so that I can listen to the book when I am outside the USA?

    Yes.  If it's on your computer's iTunes then connect the iPad and select it on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and then on the right-hand side use the Books tab (the audiobook is in the Books part of your iTunes library ?) to select and sync it to the iPad's Music app - when there are audiobooks on the iPad you should get an Audiobooks option under the More button in the Music app. You shouldn't need to be online in order to listen to it
