  • Latest issue: No audio when playing video

Hello-I rolled back to version 6 and for the most part, everything is working normal again, however, there is no audio when I play video (I can hear music files).
I have tried the suggested fixes in the FAQ with no luck. I noticed that if I switch to 44.1/16bit in Quicktime preferences, I can get audio but it is stuttered.
If I go to 48/24bit, there is no audio w/ video.
    Suggestions anyone?
    thanks.

Is this only a problem with the sound and does the video work?

You can check for problems caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and possibly downgrade to Flash 11.2 or 10.3.

  • No audio when playing videos

Upon downloading the latest update, I have for some reason, no audio
when playing back a video...any of them. Video is there, but no sound.
    Thanks

I had the exact same issue on my Home computer with XP Home sp2--No audio in itunes
However, my work computer with XP Pro sp2 works fine with the updates.
I ended up taking the advice of some others on here and reinstalled the old version of Quick Time (7.3.1) which worked...Although I'm unable to see movie trailers with the old version...But all other videos, including the one movie that I purchased, I'm able to hear...

  • No Audio when Playing Video

    Hi,
I have the newest Apple TV hooked up via HDMI to my TV, and I'm running an optical cable from the Apple TV to a receiver. When I'm airplaying audio through my iOS device it works fine through my celing speakers that are hooked up to my reciever. BUT if I play Netflix through my Apple TV the audio cuts out from my ceiling speakers. This happens with all video I try to access through my Apple TV. Thank you in advnace for your help!

Have you tried adjusting the "Audio Out" and the "Dolby Digital" settings in settings > audio and video? It may be worth trying several combinations of these settings, although typically it is the "Dolby Digital" setting that causes most problems for users.
If you are using a sound system/receiver, make sure that you have correctly mapped the input port on your sound system to the output, if you are unsure about how to do this, refer to the manual that came with your sound system.
Have you tried playing various content sources (i.e. podcasts, music, iTunes Store video, other video etc), do you have the same problem with all types of content? If you use optical you might also check that you can see a red light at the end of your optical audio cable. Is your optical audio cable plugged straight into your sound system, or does it go through a switch or other device?

  • Record audio while playing video?

    Hello,
I have an multisession project (German: Mehrspurdatei) with a video file (via Edit, Insert, File). Now I want to record audio (USB mic) into a new channel/stream of this project while playing the video.
Pressing the audio record button at the bottom of the Soundbooth window opens the recording dialog window, but creates a new audio file -- I can't play the video simultaneously...
    So, how is this possible?
    Thanks.
    Carlos

Jes, you can with the Voice Over Tool.

  • Audio delays on videos?

When I play any type of video on my Macbook Pro, for the first few second there is only the video and no sound. Then the video will pause and the sound from those few seconds will play. After that everything will continue to play in sync.
Is there a way to stop this happening? Since it's getting really annoying, especially when I'm trying to just watch very short clips and I end up seeing all the video before getting any of the sound!

  • Audio plays, video blank

Receiving video from Samsung 4G phone but only audio will play, video is blank screen.  Video received from same phone taken by an Iphone and forwarded, then forwarded to me plays picture and audio fine.  Any suggestions?

In working with the Apple iTunes Store support, they identified that there is an issue with the 1080p versions of these files. They will be updating these files shortly.

  • Sound delay while playing video in iTunes.

    Dear community,
When playing video in iTunes the sound is increasingly delaying and after approximately 10 seconds it becomes almost impossible to watch the video. When you move to the other part of the video, the sound is back to normal for a short time and then becomes delayed again.
When video is playing, it is possible to hear that sound is not smooth, but has very minor breaks. The video is downloaded to the computer. I opened this video with Windows Media Player and QuickTime and it works good, but, unfortunately, it does not work correctly while playing in iTunes player.
I experience this problem on Windows 7 32-bit.
    Please, help with this problem.
    Sincerely,
    Roma

    Solved.
    Found this great solution:
    Quote
This is what worked for me for Windows 7 — Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Manage Audio Devices > >>> Right click on your Speakers and Headphones and go to Properties > Advanced
Now… bring the quality of your sound down – I changed mine from 24 bit, 192000 Hz (Studio Quality) TO 24 bit, 44100 Hz (Studio Quality) — it works like a charm for me now! Hope this helps.

And another one, but not tested:

I am one of many that had the synch problem. I say HAD because I finally found a fix or possibly an incorrect setting in BIOS. I noticed one of the sound settings in Bios was set to HD.
I had the option to change to AC97. saved the Bios and rebooted……hooray problem solved. I also noticed that unlocking cores made the symptom even worse. All is running very well with all cores unlocked and 24bit 192000Hz set on the sound card.
for information I have a ASUS M4N68T-M V2 motherboard and
    Xonar DS sound card
    Hope this helps.

  • Audio/video out of sync (audio delay) with PowerBeats wireless earphones.

I am having a problem with audio/video sync between my  PowerBeats Wireless earphones with my MacPro and MacBookPro. I have tried pairing, playing the video, pausing the video, turning off the PowerBeats, tuning the PowerBeats on, then starting the video playback again. I have the same audio delay so this not working for me. Anyone have an update as to how to fix this audio/video sync problem?

I am playing MPEG-4 movie files. I did open MPlayerX from my dock, then pulled down File to select Open which then did show the folder where these movie files are stored.  Then I was able to select a movie file, open it, and use "Decrease Audio Delay" to closely sync the audio with the video. I say closely because it is not perfect. Rather than stepping each increase or decrease in one tenth of a second, perhaps a finer adjustment would have been in milliseconds. This is the adjustment that I have with my AVR to sync the audio with the video, so I know this is a possible increment adjustment. The perfect adjustment was in between -0.4 and -0.5 second, however, this was not possible in one tenth second adjustments. The closest adjustment was with -0.4 second rather than with -0.5 second. So, adjustments in milliseconds could have been very near a perfect sync. Perhaps later versions of MPlayer will offer the adjustment selection in milliseconds. Nevertheless, this is working much, much better than before. Thank you so much. I have spent most of this day researching this problem and you have come up with by far the best solution. This problem goes all the way back to 2010 and possibly beyond for Apple products. There are hundreds of reports documenting out of sync audio/video issues with no solution that works as well as MPlayerX. Even the Beats support staff have no idea of how to resolve the audio/video out of sync.

Willy, the procdedure you describe works perfectly for AppleTV G1. In fact, I frequently play DTS music discs ripped to my iTunes library as Apple Lossless (ALAC) and synched to the ATV. What happens is that, as far as iTunes and the ATV are concerned, a conventional stereo 16/44 audio file is being played; however my reciever detects the DTS data stream, and instead of outputting static, it decodes the 5.1 channels correctly. This process parallels the way DTS discs were designed to be played back: a conventional CD player is connceted, via digital out, to a DTS-aware reciever/pre-amp and the two channels of static are recognized as 6 channels of DTS-encoded audio.
However this process will only work if the player (CD, ATV, PC, etc.) sends a "bit-perfect" 16 bit/44.1 khz data stream to the decoding device. In the case of ATV G2 and G3, as has been discussed elsewhere, the unit resmaples all audio - including 16/44 PCM (Redbook CD)  - to 16/48. While this is not a big deal for conventional audio CDs, MP3s, and AAC files, it mangles the fragile DTS datastream and renders it undecodable. The resulting static that you hear is just like the static you would hear if you played a DTS CD on a non-DTS capable system.
Sadly, I'm not aware of any easy way around this. You could use a program like Foobar (and the DTS plugin) to convert your DTS CDs to 6-ch .wav or .flac file. From there you could transcode the file to AC-3 and then mux it into a video container that ATV supports. You may need add a dummy video track, for iTunes/AppleTV to be ok with the file, though I'm not sure. This may be a lot of work.
Sorry for the bad news. I wish that the iTunes/ATV ecosystem had better multi-channel audio support.

  • Quicktime video recording - audio delay

If i try to record a video using quicktime and my built-in webcam, and have the audio volume turned up so i can monitor as i record, there is a delay.
This is the only program that delays audio as i record. To be clear, the final video is not out of sync, its just the audio delays if i try to listen as i record (important if you are recording guitar like i do)
Any way to make it not delay?

JTBluesmaker, When you record the computer has to capture the video/audio and then convert the video/audio and then play it back. I believe Quicktime is monitoring the recoding and not the audio input. With that, I would say there going to be a slight delay.
If you have something like Apple's GarageBand you should be able to monitor the audio input.

  • Playing video and sne audio via Airtunes

Is there a way to play the Audio from a Movie or TV Shows on AirTunes? i have my airport express and I use it to listen the music on my sterio but when i play video the audio does not stream to the airport...
does anyone one know if there is a way to do it?

    Rodrigo--
Read the Airfoil FAQ, though. Especially the part about latency and the one right below it about movies. There's a delay present in airtunes that will cause the video and audio to be out of sync unless you use an alternative player.
    best,

  • How to minimize video / audio delay in live meeting?

I am developing a virtual classroom application. In two way
live communication the delay with video/audio between participants
is about 5 seconds, which is totally unaccaptable.
Can it be improved with the client / server side coding or
with improving / fine tuning the FMS or Windows server?
    Server specs are:
    FMS 2.04
    Windows 2003 SP2
    2.0 GHZ AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+
    1Gig RAM
    Plenty of disc space
It's a dedicated server located in Germany. The users who
tested were based in the UK.
This problem could be a project killer if now solved
    :(

    turbostas - What a coincidence.
I just hit the forums for the same issue. I currently use a
Helix server and I want to convert to FMS 2 for on line speech
    communication classes.
However when I use the Flash media encoder I get the same 5
    second delay in Live streaming.
I have 8 Megs of available bandwidth and I am testing
locally. There should be little or no lag. I opened a port and
tested from home with the same scenario.
I have a camera setup on a laptop using Flash media encoder -
creating a live stream. Then I am simply using a swf to connect to
it. The only thing I noticed is that the swf takes about 5-8 second
to buffer before playing and I am unsure if it is the cause or not.
    Anyone come across this?
I have tried every known setting and I get the same delay
    with these settings:
    12 FPS, 320X240, Bitrate 100
    25 fps, 320X240, bitrate 200
    60 fps, 320X240, bitrate 650
    I am open for suggestions?
