Audio Driver Update, Will not play audio via HDMI cable now...

I just did a driver update for the realtek audio on my Y70 touch. When I plug the HDMI cable into the receiver (TV & speakers), it will still transfer the image to the TV and reformat the screen, but now the audio will not play unless I make the room speakers the default audio instead of the laptop speakers... That is just a real PITA to keep switching the default every time I wanted to do something on the big screen with my computer. Any advice on how to fix that? Preferably without rolling back the driver that was 130MB+ of a download & install that required to restarts to apply. Thanks, Joe

I haven't had mine long but I always have to do that with my tower system. (switch playback device for sound). I played a movie on the Z70 last night and go audio without doing anything (so it is different) but the sound level was low even though I checked the outputs were set to 100% HDMI audio required I turn up the sound at the TV end a lot to hear it. I figure I am missing something but did not want to spend the time troubleshoot, rather tha watch the Netfix movie.

The following Knowledge Base article written for the USB SuperDrive, offers some practical steps to try when issues present themselves with particular content playback (feel free to skip Step 3 when working with an iMac or MacBook with built-in drives):

Particularly:
Accepts discs but they don't mount or are automatically ejected
Make sure the drive is not placed upside down. The aluminum enclosure should be facing up as shown in section 1.
Check the disc's surface for scratches and dirt, since these things can prevent the disc from appearing on the desktop.
Connect the MacBook Air SuperDrive directly to the computer's USB port instead a USB hub.
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).
Ensure your drive can read the specific type of disc being used. The System Profiler or System Information may provide additional information regarding what media your computer supports.
OS X Snow Leopard v10.6 or earlier: Open Apple System Profiler by choosing "About this Mac" from the Apple () menu. Then, click More Info.
OS X Lion v10.7 and later: Click the Apple () menu and then hold down the Option key. Choose System Information from the menu.
If the disc continues to not be recognized, contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or make an appointment with an Apple Retail Store.

My 2nd generation ipod touch will not play audio books

My 2nd generation ipod touch will not play audio books. How do I fix this? I downloaded the books from iTunes on my computer. I loaded them on my ipod. It shows them on my ipod. It will go to the menu where you can choose which book and then actually pulls up the book then acts like it is going to play. Then it just goes back to the list of books. It won't play any of them. It will play music though.
How do I fix this?

The books do play in iTunes on the computer, right?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and audion book and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

ITunes 7.1.1.5 will not play audio from inserted cd

I have been experiencing an issue with iTunes on my PC. It will not play any audio from inserted discs. This includes burned discs and commercial discs. When I attempt to play the music the song will stay highlighted briefly, about 2 sec., and then it goes directly to the next song on the disc. This continues through the disc to the end. I experience the same issue when trying to import the disc.
I have tried removing the iTunes application and doing a fresh re-install, but I have the same issue.
Also, this is on a PC, and I am able to open the disc's in question and play the content fine within Media Player.
Any idea's on this would be greatly appreciated!

Certain .AVI files will not play audio using QuickTime 7.5

I have recently updated my QuickTime to QuickTime Pro 7.5. I attempted to play videos in my library and noticed that certain videos will not play the audio, but video is fine. I did not have problems with playing the videos with audio before the update.
I tried to do some research and many have suggested to install PERIAN 1.1. I have done this, but still no result. I have deleted a lot of important videos, because I assumed that they are no longer usable. I decided to keep most of them and figure out a solution. No luck so far.
Please help! Anyone else experiencing this problem?

ITunes imports songs from an audio CD, but will not play them. Why?

90% of my iTunes music library has come from importing old audio CDs into iTunes. I haven't imported any in a while, but I recently imported an audio album, iTunes recognized the artist and songs, imported into the library bu if I select one in iTunes for playing, it will not play.
The other song's in the library all still play fine so iTunes is working correctly. But the newly imported CD will not play. Seems very strange it recognizes the CD and imports it but will not play. No error, no message, no nothing. What gives?

I think the blue text means that Windows compressed the files when it did a disk cleanup or something. I might be wrong, because I haven't used that disk cleanup feautre in ages - it did things I didn't want it to do.
So google around and find out how to uncompress one, and see if it plays.

DVD Drive will not recognize any movie DVD disk in the drive - thus will not play any dvd movies.

HP G71 449WV dvd drive will not recognize any dvd disc that has a movie on it. Will not play movies, keeps saying to insert disc when there is a disc in there. It will recognize a dvd data disc or a blank dvd, it just will not recognize any dvd movies. I've tried the microsoft fix it, downloaded new codecs, using different dvd playback software but none of that works since the drive will not recognize there is even a dvd movie in the drive. Computer is out of warranty.

It appears that you're not able to play movie DVD's in the DVD player in your notebook. I will try to assist you with this.
I'd recommend starting with this document:

Also, are these purchased DVD's or burnt DVD's?
Do the movies play in other sources? (DVD player, other PC)

Safari will not play audio.

Safari stopped playing audio for me on my MacBook Air. The audio on the computer works because i can get audio with full volume when i play a file on iTunes. Please help me with what might be wrong.

Airplay-connected Macbook Pro Will Not Play Audio On Apple TV

After upgrading to a Retina Macbook Pro running Mavericks (10.9.3), I can no longer play audio using AirPlay through my AppleTV 2. The video connection is flawless, yet when going into Sound > Output through System Preferences, I can not select AppleTV | AirPlay as an output device. Is this a hardware issue? Is there another fix available?

Driver update will not install

I have older model Audigy Platinum. Recentlt installed it in a new DAW, running Windows Media Edition, The problem is upon using my old install disk the Creative Emu0kx ASIO drivers install, I downloaded and attempted to install the updated SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_006, After unpacking and beginning to install the updater first uninstalls the previous version but will not install the update. Truely becoming very irritated. Creative support and development is weak, they rarely issue better driver sets, falsely overstate stats, and performance. Soon very soon Creative products will be history , and I'll never purchase another...

Try resetting te printing system as listed for Lion below and check if that may help:

If that doesn't help go to Library\Printers and move the HP folder to the trash.
Next go to Library\Printers\PPDs\Contents\Resources. Search for 1050 within the folder and move the results to the trash.
Reboot your Mac, try adding the printer under Print & Scan again and check for any change.

New videos, one will not play audio others will.

I purchased five new videos and they all play back fine except one. The one in question has no audio. I checked all the speakers and stuff and did not see a problem. I closed the window and opened the next video and it works fine. All my music plays fine too. Please help...

I sent an email to iTunes and they issued me a credit. They said evey thing was fine with my computer, it was the video that was not working. I will download it again when the credit comes through.

FCP Imported Sequence will not play audio (waveforms present)

I've imported a sequence from FCP 7 and it relinked with little issue. My timeline has 10 audio tracks. Waveforms are present on all tracks. most all the audio are .aiff files. I can load the audio into the source player and hear the audio and see the stereo VU meter working normally, however in the sequence there is no audio playing, nothing happening on the VU meters.
I've checked my audio hardware outs, tested with a clip of tone as well. Tone plays normally in the Source window but modulates oddly on the timeline, but it at least plays.
I've searched the forum but my specifc issue doesn't seem to come up, I am not missing the audio in my clips.
Helpful replies are most appreciated.

I had this problem too. I'm trying to remember what the culprit was, but check 2 things:
Are the audio tracks enabled? Right click and make sure they are.
Is the audio level pulled all the way down on each clip? I think that was the problem for me - I had to go through each clip and reset the audio level to 0...it was set to -∞.

Movies imported from quicktime to Itunes will not play audio

I am importing videos from Quicktime pro by sharing with Itunes, but there is no audio when played in Itunes. The extension is HDTV.XviD-ASAP.avi
I can watch and hear the videos in Quicktime, but not Itunes and thus Apple TV. Can any one help?
