Audio edited in Soundtrack Pro is offline in Final Cut Pro

I'm an owner of iMac 24" and Final Cut Studio Pro.
When send an audio track to waveform editor and save it, in Final Cut the file is offline 'cause it don't find the "render.mov" file. I've the last suite version and normally this file would have automatically embedded in the file package generated by Soundtrack Pro.
Thanks a lot for your help.

i purchased the logic studio suite and it came with 5 jam packs..the other one i spoke of that was bundled with final cut had no additional content outside of the stock basic content in the core program, so my new question would be, if i can locate the individual samples from an earlier version, could i just drop them into the library for use??
thanks in advance

  • How can I revert my audio clips that I have edited in Soundtrack Pro back to the original audio?

I edited a project in FCP6 and sent numerous audio clips to Soundtrack Pro where I sampled and removed some AC and fridge compressor
hum from some interview footage.  I'm sending the project out for professional sound mixing and they advised me to restore the original
audio to prevent the creation of artifacts when they process the sound in a different program.
Is there some way to "revert" all my clips that I edited in Soundtrack Pro back to the original audio without going back to
my original interview footage and cutting in clip by clip?  (Next time I'll save my original audio on a duplicate timeline -- live and learn!)
Thanks in advance for any helpful ideas!

What happens if duplicate the sequence, then choose one of them to use "match frame" to get back to the original clips?

  • Exchange audio files in Soundtrack Pro

Im experimenting with mastering audio files in Soundtrack Pro 3.0.1.
I am wondering if I can swap audio files in and out of the same project file - so I can keep the same STP effects settings while changing the audio file version from v1 to v2.  Does this make sense?
As a side question... would it be better to convert the output from 24 to 16 bit (and dither it) in Soundtrack, or let that happen when it imports into iTunes?
Thanks for helping a complete stranger.  That always amazes and inspires me.

Didnt know how to remove the original clip from the STP arrange window - or whatever it's called in STPro.  So I could go no further in my perverse science experiment.
It also appeared that I could only import an aif but not a wav?
I gave up on STPro and did what I needed to do in Logic, which I use regularly.
Thank you for folowing up on this.
PS.  I used to use an old PowerPC version (1.0.3) of STPro and loved the way it visually showed the change in the waveform when you added each efffect.  It appears that the new version (3.0.1) does not allow you to do this anymore?  You can render or flatten the effects to see the final waveform, but then you are dead in the water and cant make changes?
Im such a newbie at STPro that I am probably not using it right?

  • Why no "snap to edit" in soundtrack pro?

One thing that bugs me about Soundtrack Pro (aside from all the bugs) is the lack of "snap to" fuctionality in Soundtrack Pro. In FCP you turn on snapping and you find the end of a clip easy within a few pixels. With soundtrack you seem to only have the options of Ruler ticks, seconds and frames. Why no "snap to edit" or end/beginning of a clip?
I'm increasing doing most of my editing in FCP. I'm then sending that edit to Soundtrack Pro where I can sweeten it with no further edits. One day Soundtrack pro will be a editing tool. But not just yet.

    Hi,
Thanks for this tip. it's not quite what i had in mind but it may have it's uses.
What i mean is the sort of snapping in FCP. What i should have said was a way for the play head to "snap" to the end of a clip, so you can then move another clip that will then "Snap" to the end of that clip and so on. As it is, if I move a clip to but up against another, it tends to overlap and start a cross fade. What I want is for it to meet a barrier of sorts, and not start overwriting/cross fading with the clip, so i can get precise alignments and not worry about shaving off a few frames here and there.
Is there anyway of doing this?

  • Render video pon audio import from Soundtrack Pro

Unique issue I have here. My video is standard NTSC Animation Codec and is in my Sequence in FCS2. I import my project into Soundtrack Pro edit my audio, Export back into FCS 2 (following the manual to insure proper steps).
Once I arrive back into FCS2 my video needs to be rendered. It checked the codec and everything matches up fine. Why is it now asking me to render mt video?

    Paul,
Did you edit to picture inside STP? And was it in sync there?
You may have an issue with a frequency shift. Audio doesn't have frames. It really runs in "real time." So if you shift frequencies the units per second change. It still has the same number of units, so ultimately the time changes.
How did you get the audio into STP in the first place?

  • FCP Audio Clips in Soundtrack Pro - Marking the Start & End Points

When I double click on an audio clip that I've sent from FCP into Soundtrack Pro I seem to open up the entire media file.
How do I lock off or at least mark the clip start & end?
I don't see any markers that tell me which part of the clip is actually used in the imported FCP sequence.
I only want to make (non-destructive) changes to the clip.
I don't want to alter the original media file.
And I just want to work on the part that's used in the FCP sequence.
It makes sense that there's a way to show the start & end points of the clip but I'm just not seeing it.

I am a bit of a newb here, so pardon if my explanation is a little unpolished, but I have been working on some of my projects like you are and this is what i figured out. I select my sequence in FCP and send to stp as a multitrack project. The whole audio timeline shows up just as it looks in fcp, and the video track shows as one large clip that is made up of all my cuts put together. Now, my audio tracks are all on one line, and i can see all the clips with their cuts on the sequence. I click the first one and open it up to work on in the waveform editor. At that point i see the entire audio clip, including the part before and after my cut that i am using in my sequence, but i also see, up near the playhead, gray markers that show the actual part of the clip i am using in my edit. It is easest to hit shift-z to look at the entire clip on screen, and then find the grey markers. Also, if you play audio before the in marker, you will hear it but you will see that the video is not playing anything, then once you enter into the in-out section the video will play along, and when you pass the out marker the video freezes as the audio keeps playing. Hope this helps.

  • Unexpected problem: uncaught exception when working with audio files in Soundtrack Pro

    Hey,
Whenever I double click an audio file in the timeline to work on it, I end up getting the Error message: "Unexpected problem: uncaught exception" and Soundtrack Pro eventually crashes.  Also, this happens when I try to work with audio files in the file editor.  I have Leopard and am using Logic Studio 8.  Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks

  • Transfering fcp 5 multiple audio tracks to soundtrack pro/ and 3 other ????

    1. i wonder how to import multiple tracks from fcp 5 to stp and maintain these tracks in the multitrack format, not mixed down to two tracks.
    2. i can't open a multitrack stp project i created in fce hd, into stp with fcp 5. i get the message, can't fine file??? when i click the file from the scratch drive, i also get the message that i need the apg ATI 9800 graphic card i used in my g4 with final cut express hd, but now i updated to g56 mac duel pro. do i have to att the ati card to my g5? and use this card instead of the g5 graphic card?
or can i use both the ati card with the gr graphic card, since i think that two graphic cards can be added to the g5?
    3. i have a waveform file in stp that was made with final cut express hd, now i cant convert it to multi track, and i want to keep it since i filtered out background noise. how can i export it to fip 5 and reimport in into stp?
    4. im a little bit confused about the mixer in fcp vs the mixer in stp. which is better to even out the sound from one sequence to another. also, to mix for tv sound, ( - 12 db), how do i do that with accuracy since the waveform varies... and jumps around from say - 15 db to -8 db? how does one find the average with consistancies, if possible.
i new to all this and would appreciate any help. thanks for any help any one can give me. ron hansing.

First up, learning STP is a great thing to do. You'll handle audio much better with it. Apple Pro Training Series, SoundTack Pro, by Mary Plummer, is the best way to learn it.
Back to your question. I did a basic tutorial that may help. It won't be out until December, but if you email me off board I'll send you an advanced copy of it. Shows how the work flow for editing multitrack sound from FCP into STP works. A bit to get into here, but it'll be a great start for you.

  • M-audio 410 and Soundtrack Pro won't "PLAY NICE" together!!

I can't get any output to my Firewire 410 from Soundtrack Pro. The input works but no output. I tried every setting with not one db of output. The most recent was not looping through another firewire device, but to go straight into my G5.
Does anyone have this device working on your mac?
    Please help if you can,
    JCB123

I have the same setup and haven't had any problems. I am connected by firewire. In STP, my input device and my monitor are set to Firewire 410. In System Prefernces / Sound, I have both my input and output set to Firewire 410 as well. And in the M-Audio Firewire 410 audio interface software under the Mixer Tab, I have spdif highlighted under Analog In. Then under the Output Tab I have Main highlighted under SPDIF OUT.
I run an optical cable from the 410 to a hometheatre system right now but have a proper set of audio monitors on the way. I intend to plug them into outputs 1&2 in which case I will also highlight 1/2 under ANALOG IN under the MIXER tab and highlight MAIN under 1/2 OUT under the OUTPUT tab.
Hope this helps a bit. I am still new to this but so far have been able to get this far. Good luck!

  • Changes in Soundtrack not being sent to Final Cut Pro

I am editing in FCP and trying to use Soundtrack to edit the audio of my mov files. I am sending the audio to Soundtrack as a project. i edit the audio then save the file in Soundtrack but none of the changes I make are showing up in Final Cut Pro. I have Final Cut Studio 6. What is going on????

    hey there MHASH,
sounds like you're using Soundtrack Pro. this is the Soundtrack Discussion. you should post your question in the Soundtrack Pro discussion.
    good luck.

  • Can you edit AVCHD footage from a DSLR in Final Cut Express?

We're planning on using a DSLR that shoots AVCHD video as a B Camera on a shoot that will be edited in Final Cut Express for posting on You Tube. Will this work in Final Cut Express?

Yes, provided you convert the video to QuickTime/Apple Intermediate Codec before importing it into FCE.
Many users like MPEG Streamclip for this purpose, and it does a great job.
If you are using a Canon DSLR there is a plugin for Final Cut Pro but not for Final Cut Express, so you have to convert the video yourself before importing into FCE.   (In Final Cut Pro, the EOS E1 plugin allows you to directly Log & Transfer from the 5D and 7D).

  • Audio out of synch after I export from Final Cut

I have a video on a Final Cut timeline. If I play in FC, audio is in synch. If I play the file in QuickTime player from my captures folder, the audio is in synch. If I export from final cut, or from quicktime pro, the audio of the resulting file is off by about 1 second. I was trying to make a h.264 file, but it does the same thing if I export to other formats as well.
This only seems to be happening with this particular video. I have a number of project loaded right now, and do not have this same problem with the other projects.
Weird....any help would be greatly appreciated.

You didn't include any of your specifications for the sequences or exported movies but a problem that only exists on a single item is directly associated with that item and can be identified but they're usually subtle.
My first guess is that the audio on the original media is set to a slight different sampling rate. Could be off a thousandth of a decimal. The reason it works in the timeline is it's being conformed to the sequence settings in realtime. The export would reference the original.
I can't tell from the post where you're getting this loss of sync. Can you try exporting a self-contained movie and then use that to go to h.264?

  • I w'd like to edit my HD video on a mac. do i need any editing card (eg. matrox lee) ? or final cut is enough ? Thanks

I w'd like to edit my AVCHD video on a mac. I am planning to buy a powerfull desktop mac, do i need any editing card (eg. matrox lee), AGP card for real time rendering ? or final cut express is enough ? Thanks

You only have one card being sold, so there aren't any real choices.

  • Workflow for editing HD PAL .m2ts and .mpeg4 on Final Cut

I have PAL HD files in two formats (.m2ts and .mpeg4) from 2 cameras of the same event. These files need to be converted to a mutually compatible format to edit in Final Cut (Studio 2). I would appreciate knowledgeable recommendations on a work flow, including the best converter(s) to use.

I could not load either file format into MPEG-Streamclip. Do you think there is any better media converter than the VoltaicHD? I am trying it out and it is the best I have seen. Clean and the controls for the Quicktime .mov file out. Although, when I play output clips set to digitize at 25 frames, they are all reported as 29.97 -- is this a bug?

  • Dropping an audio track onto a PSD  file imported into Final Cut Express

I created a credits page for my video in Photoshop and then imported it into Final Cut Express (Version 1.0). I then duplicated part of an audio track from another sequence (My friend's father playing the organ), and dropped it onto the Photoshop credits sequence. It displayed and played nicely in Final Cut Express, but did not create an audio track which was visible within Final Cut Express. When I exported the sequence as a .mov file and then imported that into iDVD, it also displayed and played correctly in iDVD. But when I burned the DVD, there was no longer any audio with the credits. Any suggestions?
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Thanks so much for your response. I selected and copied tracks A1 and A2 from one sequence and then pasted them into the credits (Photoshop) sequence. No audio tracks appeared in the Photoshop sequence, but we could hear the audio when we played the Photoshop sequence.
There was video associated with the original organ track, and we did not lock off the video when we dropped it into the Timeline, although there didn't seem to be any problem with the video. We did not Mixdown the audio either, although no audio tracks were displayed in the Photoshop sequence. I will try both of those things and see if it makes a difference. Thanks again.
