Audio fails to export in a movie

I made a 10 minute film in imovie 3.1. Clips for this film originated from a formatted DVD that i extracted using MPEG streamclip. i can't remember what format i used to extract the material. The audio sounds good when played in imovie. Some of the audio was extracted directly from the video clips, and other audio was added from another source. Both audio tracks are being used. Both tracks sound good in imovie.
When i try to export the film as a quicktime movie from within imovie, the video looks good but there is absolutely no audio. It doesn't seem to matter what format i use for the export. The sound disappears every time. Can somebody tell me what I might have done wrong?
I am wondering if perhaps the problem is occurring because I need one specific format to extract formatted DVD marterial for use by imovie? Can someone tell me what that format is?
More important to me, Is there some way i can fix what i already have, since it sounds good within imovie. Only the exporting process drops the audio.
I also tried to drop the imovie film file into iDVD 3.1. Much the same thing happens. The audio sounds good when played within iDVD. But when I burn a DVD, the sound disappears.
Any help is much appreciated.

  • Audio fails in Export to QT

    Hi,
I have made two presentations in Keynote and need to export to QT Full Quality, manual advance, to include on DVD's
Both presentations are the same except for the language.
The English version lets me export no problem. However the Korean version has no audio in the export. It does make two files one movie and the other audio but so does the English version. I have checked everything, both files are identical. Both mov. files are 16.4 MB in size. The exported English mov.file has 51.5 MB and the Korean mov.file has 61.2 MB. Does anyone know what happened to the audio or why it won't play?

    Hi
    Me just thinking.
Do You use - external hard disks ? If so
    • Connected via FW or USB/USB2
    • Free space on them
    • formatted as ?
BTW - Did You Mix Down Audio - before Export - I do !

Try Mixing Down the audio before export.

  • I am using FC Express HD, and for some reason, when I export a Quicktime movie, the final movie will only play audio, and the video is black.  I only get the actual video if I export as self contained, or if I exportusing quicktime conversion. Why?

  • Export as QuickTime Movie - lose audio sync

I have a 10 minute project that basically is a sequence of 10 nested sequences. It is an HDV project. I need to export it as a QuickTime Movie to maintain the ability to show it in HD. When I do so (using Export->QuickTime Movie - I am not using "Using QuickTime Conversion"), I maintain "Current Settings". The resulting .mov file, when played back in QuickTime Player (or anything else) has a progressively severe loss of audio sync. This is not present when playing the project within the timeline in FCP (6.0.3).
I have tried opening the project on a different computer with a virgin version of FCP 6.0.3, with the same results. I also made sure to render the individual sequences as well as the master sequence. I created a new sequence and added the individual chapters again, with the same result. I tried using the Media Manager to bring the project over to another computer - same problem. I also took this to an Apple One-to-One class with a FCP expert who couldn't figure it out either.
I could really use some help here.

First of all, thank you for responding.
I don't have a capture delay. The audio rate is 48 khz.
Interestingly, I had previously tried the separate export and stitching you suggested, but a strange thing occurred. If the resulting quicktime movie was created through a Save As... command, you wind up with a self-contained movie. When I did that, I started to get weird audio repetitions or dropouts as the movie went on. On the other hand, if I left it a reference movie, this didn't happen.
Anyway, this is a workaround, but it means that the whole thing has to be done over every time I make any change at all, and I am also concerned about getting rid of this problem for the future.
    Any other thoughts?

  • No audio when I export as a quicktime movie

I am exporting my movie from FCE as a quicktime movie, but there is no audio on the exported file. Why would this be?

The audio tracks are switched off in the timeline. You're not monitoring it properly. Where are you watching in the video? In the QT player? In FCE? Somewhere else? Are there any meters in that application? Are they moving? Is the volume turned up?

  • IMovie 10.0.6 Fails to export movie

Hey, I have a late 2012 macbook pro trying to export an HD movie. It plays just fine in "theater" but will not export AT ALL to anything. It fails and gives and incomplete file. I have a 4min movie, it'll maybe get 1 min done and then stop. No mater if I bring down the quality, it still fails or try a different codec.
What is going on? I REALLY have to finish this movie today. I'm very disappointed that all my efforts will be ruined due to a stupid Apple lazy bug. (This is for a job, will miss deadline)

Thank you so much QuickTimeKirk - there are times when the obvious eludes me!

  • Help me! Audition always failing exports to wav, mov, and Premiere Pro! WHY???

    Hello,
I am sound editing and mixing a picture locked 25 min short film. When done with the mix and ready to  export the mixdown, the export always takes forever (the project is 12GB large total) I mixdown to stereo file wav, but when I open the file, both VLC and Media Player don't play, with WMP saying its corrupt. I bring the same file into Premiere, and it says that it cannot import "because of  a header problem"! What is that? I tried the same with the export to Quicktime (mov) format, and I got the same result. Go up to the window and choose Export to Premiere (you know, directly into Premeire) and it says it it will take 12 hours. I don't remeber cs5.5 taking this long. HELP PLEASE, I need to export this by tonight!!!
    Export settings(both formats):
    Convvert to 48 khz
Convert to 24 bt (32 with mov; only option)
tried both RF64 and Legacy Chunk whatever
Premeire Pro freindly setting on in Preferences
    Windows 7 64 Pro
    INtel Core i7 930
    16GB RAM
    GeForce GTS 250

I don't think a file of that length should exceed 4GB, but be aware that Audition CAN export wave files larger than that due to the RF64 support (vs. 'legacy chunk'), and Premiere can't yet open RF64 giga-wave-files!
Now, other than telling you that this shouldn't be happening, we'll need more information before we can track down what's wrong.  Best thing is to detail for us what your export settings are, precisely.

  • Recording fails on Export to Quicktime

The last few times, at least 3 out 4 of the last times, the audio has failed to properly export when I save a Keynote lecture to Quicktime movie. I hear the audio file for about 30 seconds, and then it goes silent.  If I look at the package contents, the audio file is completely intact in the original Keynote file.  I am using the most up to date version of Keynote on a Yosemite Macbook Air.  Any suggestions what might be going wrong?

The response in this thread by TarqTeles worked for me  Audio on keynote exported quicktime videos cuts out at 50 seconds?

  • Deleted audio reappearing in exported version

I'm attempting to make a movie in which I've dubbed over several clips. I originally detached the audio from these clips and deleted it before dubbing them over, and in iMovie it appears that the clips are, in fact, muted, but once I export, several clips still have the original audio. I've gone back through about 5 times and tried to make sure all the clips' original audios are muted, which it appears they are, but without fail, every time I export the original audio is there. Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this?

There is a well known bug in iMovie '09 that can cause audio glitches. If you have made any speed changes (such as slow or fast motion) in your project, you must use only the presets on the speed slider. If you manually enter a custom speed, by typing in a percentage, you may experience issues with the audio. These issues are not evident in preview, but only appear upon exporting the project.
    Note that the slider presets are 12.5%, 25%, 50%, 100%, 200%, 400% and 800%. Don't enter speeds like 33%, 75%, 89%, 120% etc. - use ONLY the presets.

  • InDesign CS6 "Failed to export the JPEG file. File cannot be written. Disk may be locked or full."

I get this error "Failed to export the JPEG file. File cannot be written. Disk may be locked or full." when sending small (3"x3") and large (40"x60") files to a printer hot folder. Sometime if I close the program and restart it will let me export. What could be causing this to happen?
I am on Windows 7 with 4GB RAM PC.

I guess the printer is grabbing the file before it is entirely written…
Workaround: Do not save to a hot folder. Move the files after exporting to the hot folder.

  • Keep getting conversion failed on exporting files PDF.

keep getting conversion failed on exporting files PDF.

    Hi jfcobb999,
I'm sorry that you're having trouble converting files. Are you converting via the web interface, or through Adobe Reader? Do you have a large number of files in the root folder of your Files list on Acrobat.com?
Let's try these things for starters:
Clear the browser cache and try again.
    Use a different browser.
Make sure that Reader is up-to-date by choosing Help > Check for Updates.
If you have a large number of files stored on Acrobat.com, move some of them into a subfolder.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,
    Sara

  • Failed to Export File

I was sent an email explaining that the file failed to export, most likely because it was a very large file; however, on Adobe under tools, it says that it is still "Uploading file to Adobe ExportPDF online..." I am trying to export other documents but cannot because it is still trying to upload this file, one that has already failed. I just need to know how to cancel that export so that I can move on to export other files.

Just close the browser or Adobe Reader and relaunch.
Otherwise, you can let the conversion complete or time-out.

  • Audio sync problem: exporting from FCP to Pro tools or soundtrack pro

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Final Cut Pro sound export for mastering.....sync problem
    Hey,
I'm editing a 30 minute film and I have done most of the sound edit in FCP and Soundtrack pro and I want to now bring all the sound into pro tools to master the sound but every time i export sound into pro tools it seems to stretch by two or three seconds.
I have tried OMF, AIFF, XML, and Quicktime audio file sut to no avail!!!!
There are 50 tracks in the file so it is quiet large. It's not that there are handles of the file also as when I sync the file with the audio track with the video it syncs in one place but it is still out of sync in another.........It's as if the audio has been stretched!?!
If anyone has any advice it'd be much appreciated
    Keith

Try mixing down the audio first. Sequence/Render Only/Audio mixdown.
You could even try exporting the audio with the Export QT movie command using "current settings" and reimport that file, Add that mixed down file to a copy of the sequence. If it syncs in FCP I'd think it will sync on export too.

  • General Error; failed to render the timeline and failed to export HD mpg2

I have searched for the posts if there is same issue I'm having on the forum, and it seems it's similar yet not really...
So I decided to post one.
I have 2100 sequential frames in jpgs. (each jpg size is 1280x720)
I open "image sequence" in QT 7.04 with 29.97 fps, then save it as MOV in external HD with firewire.
Then I import it into FCP 5.04 on Timeline.
    Timeline setting is
    Frame Size : 1280x720 HDTV 720P (16:9)
Pixel Aspect Ratio : Square uncheck Anamorphic 16:9
    Filed Dominance : None
    Editing Timebase : 29.97
Quick time Vieo Setting : Compressor -DVCPRO HD 720P60 Quality 100%
After I place the mov file on the timeline, the Red Bar shows up.
I tried to render the timeline, it will only try to render to 3% and stop, and "general error" pops up.
I tried to use Compressor 2.01 with HD mpg2 preset to export out as HD mpg2 format, and it will fail to export.
After I read several posts on here, I was wondering I might have corrupted mov...
I re-create MOV file from QT and import in FCP5 and do the same... but I still get the same error...
I tried to re-start computer and tried, no luck..
Then I was wondering maybe some of the jpgs is corrupted...
I'm not sure how to check which jpg file is corrputed since there is 2100 frames in directory.
It is able to show all jpgs as thumbnail images..
    So my questions here.. are...
If I do anything wrong during the step?
If not... what's wrong? why i can't render the timeline, and why i can't export to HD?
Or if there is a "way" to figure out what file is corrupted..?
This is not first time I have the same problem, I even tried to test out with 10,000 jpgs frames and create mov ... and import in FCP5..etc...
I had no problem with render and export... so I don't think it's the "HD length" issue...
If anyone have the same issue or know what's wrong... please help!!!
    Thank you,

I downloaded iview Media pro free trial version to catalog the image to see if there is any corrupted jpgs.
Unfortunately, it didn't find any corrupted jpgs.
I also tried to change the sequence setting, under "QuickTime Video Setting" from "DVCPRO HD 720p60" to "HDV 720p30" (since I found out the frame size for DVCPRO HD 720p60 is 960x720 with 59.99 fps).
The result I get after I placed mov on timeline, it used to give red bar, it gave me orange bar... which made me be able to render the timeline without problem.
However, Compressor still is not able to export HD mpg2.
Then I changed QuickTime Video Setting from HDV 720p30 to "photo-jpg", the bar is now grey, but still not able to export to HD mpg2.
    now I don't really don't know what's going on.
anyone can suggest me what else I can try and see...??
