Audio lag (dolby digital) and reciev

I'm noticing a very brief lag in the audio for my Audigy 2 Platinum Pro, and I'm just wondering, is this to be expected in all recievers? When I say recievers, I mean devices like the Platinum Pro and external recievers used in home theater systems. Do all Dolby Digital decoders have some sort of delay in any circumstance?

Well, in particular the problem that I have is related to playing the XBox with the optical audio support. But since the audio is streamed and there is no way really of 'preloading' a sound, it takes a second, for example, for the audio to kick in when I shoot a gun. My question is, is this to be expected on ALL home theater systems?

  • Surcode Dolby Digital and CC

I questioned Minnetonka Audio Software about upgrading the licence from cs6 to cc, this is the reply:
The subscription model and new licensing infrastructure employed by Adobe for Creative Cloud requires a new licensing mechanism for SurCode for Dolby Digital® 5.1 Encoder for Adobe Premiere Pro CC. We at Minnetonka Audio are finalizing the upgrade policy for existing SurCode for Dolby Digital® 5.1 Encoder for Adobe Premiere Pro Creative Suite owners, and will provide that to you within 10 business days.
    Who knows what this means.

Here is the latest About upgrading Surcode to CC:
In the past, customers who purchased a license for the SurCode for Dolby Digital 5.1 Encoder (DDPP) in a previous release of the Adobe Creative Suite have been able migrate their license to each latest CS release free of charge - up through the current CS6 version. With the introduction of Adobe’s new Creative Cloud subscription plan, an all-new licensing mechanism for SurCode for Dolby Digital® 5.1 Encoder for Adobe Premiere Pro CC (UDDCC) is required.
For Existing SurCode for Adobe Products Customers:
Permanent license activation on one computer for the built-in SurCode for Dolby Digital 5.1 Encoder module in Adobe Creative Cloud - Upgrade from DDPP to UDDCC.
Serial Number and/or proof of purchase for SurCode for Dolby Digital 5.1 (DDPP) is required. - Please add your current serial number to the remarks field, when completing your order, or simply reply to the Order Confirmation email with your proof of purchase.

  • Dolby Digital and NFORCE2

To day I visited a computer fair where a vendor was selling the K7N2-L for £76.00 and the K7N2G-L for £96.00, but didn’t have the K7N2G-ILSR. I myself wanted to buy one of them but after thumbing both the manuals and peering hard at the motherboards the only obvious difference between them was the TV out option given to the K7N2G-L. I had a squint at the MCP chip on both boards but all that was written on them was nforce MCP. So I left with out purchasing until I find out a bit more:-
This is how I understand it at the moment, but I’m probably way off track:-
K7N2-L no TV out but will output Dolby Digital signal (probably through SPDIF) which needs to be fed to an external decoder and then to the speakers (like the Nforce1 K7N420 Pro (MS-6373)).
K7N2G-L with TV Out and as above.
K7N2G-ILSR with TV Out and an onboard Dolby Digital decoder which is then output directly to a 5.1 set of speakers without the need for a separate decoder.
Let me know what you think?

Ok then, All the boards come with realtek 6 channel audio ( 5.1) sound, but only the K&N2G-ILSR comes with the above and Dolby Digital 5.1 sound

  • Workflow and requirements to create for dolby digital and dolby sr

one i have created my 5.1 ac3 encoded file waht are the requirements to get the dolby authorization and what is the correct workflow?

You do not need Dolby authorization to use a Dolby Digital file on your DVD. Only if you want to use their logo.
If you want permission to use their logo, you must go to their website, request the authorization packet, fill it out completely, and provide them with a proof of your printed materials and enough time for them to get around to approving it and get back to you.

  • Question for Dolby Digital and

Hello. I have a SoundBlaster Platinum soundcard,DDTS-00 Decoder and GigaWorks S750 speakers and I have a problem when seeing movies from my PC.When I use the speakers with Playstation2 with optical cable when the movie has Dolby Digital or DTS sound the option on the decoder turns on that shows the sound mode. When I'm using the speakers with PC and I connect them with coaxial or optical cable and I choose from the sound menu of the DVD program (Cyberlink DVD)what sound I want the option on sound mode of the Creative decoder doen't change. What is going on?Could you tell me what to do?I think that I hear Dolby Surround and not Dolby Digital Neo:6 and DTS:ES. Thank you.Message Edited by pangef on 07-8-2006 06:38 AM

With your PC, set it up to S/PDIF. This way it by passed all software decoding and leaves it to your speakers .
IMHO, if people have speakers that can decode DD 5./DTS then use S/PDIF all the way
I have tested useing software decoders and then using S/PDIF pass through and found the sound is better via S/PDIF.
    Hope that hel

  • Z77a GD65 simultaneous audio output via digital and analog jack?

    Hi,
Does anyone know if it is possible to use the digital audio spdif out, and the green 3,5mm jack (I use it for my headphones) at the same time?
When I use the digital out, and I run a 'test' with the analog out, I can hear the test signal so technically it should work.
However, I can't find the right settings to actually use both outputs (same source: for instance iTunes) at the same time.
    Any advice? Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Jeroen

My old msi cuba 7301 from 2007 has an spdif output, and I was able to use this digital out together with the 3,5mm line out (which I used for my headphones) simultaneously. I understand what you're saying, but I'd say the user should decide in what way he/she wants to use the product  . Technically, it shouldn't be a problem, since I can hit the 'test' button and hear the sounds through my headphones via 3,5mm stereo out, while playing music through the digital out.
Anyone from MSI who knows the answer? If it was possible in 2007...
    Thanks for your answer

  • G510 Dolby Digital Plus Advanced Audio doesnt work driver problem with Windows 8.1

    Hi,
    my Lenovo G510 has Windows 8.1 64-bit.
In the system menue of Hardware and Sound I can see two entries:
    1) Dolby Digital Plus Advanced Audio
    2) Dolby Digital Plus Advanced Audio (32-bit)
Clicking on the first entry a control panel appears. Does this mean that Dolby Digital Plus Advanced Audio is always running in the backround? There is no entry in the systray.
Clicking on the second entry this error message appears:
Your current installed version is 7.3.2.2 of the Dolby Digital Plus audio driver. The software needs the driver version 7.5.1.1. Installe a correct combination of driver and software.
What to do with this? I searched for a solution and drivers but couldn´t find anything.

  • Dolby Digital Live and DTS Connect Pack not installing at all!!

I have (unfortunately) a Soundblaster X-Fi X-treme audio soundcard hooked up through an optical cable to my Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700 receiver. Of course, the sound card doesn't come with a Dolby Digital decoder, so it must be purchased seperately through Creative. Well, I downloaded (and PAID FOR) the software here after viewing and MAKING SURE my f'ing card was listed: http://buy.soundblaster.com/_creativ...DDN6Z2H2ADDEZD
However, when I go to install it the installer says "setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system" then closes. So that's fantastic. No explanations, no nothing. I have a supported card, updated drivers, but the software THAT I PURCHASED FROM CREATIVE simply is not detected. Of course, finding technical support from Creative is like finding water in the desert, so I am here. Can anyone please help me with this? I am about to call my bank and deny the $5.00 transaction if I cannot get this fixed, I've been working on it for two freaking hours now. ANY HELP is greatly appreciated.

Well, I had a reply typed and clicked "reply" but of course it asked me to log in again and lost my response. It seems their forums are quite awful as well. Suffice it to say, my soundcard is listed here: http://buy.soundblaster.com/_creativ...DDN6Z2H2ADDEZD where I purchased the product. My receiver is capable of playing DVD's in Dolby Digital, and all modern games support it, so I was of the understanding that all I needed was this DTS encoder.
I was quite angry when I wrote the post, as I couldn't get it to work, their tech support is abysmal (almost non-existent) and there were literally no instructions, it simply gave me the error and booted me. I have written a complaint to the better business bureau and will never again purchase another Creative product. They can $hit on consumers all they like, but consumers like me (and daniel_k it seems) will not forget so easily.

  • DTS and Dolby digital support in Vista for Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor

Hello, I own a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor with USB connection and would like to know when will be available a drivers for Windows Vista and Windows 7 where we have full support for using the Dolby Digital and DTS decoder, I mention because it seems that?this card is forgotten about the update of drivers and is a pity that it is?lack of the support.

Sorry for not replying - have been away for the past few days.
Ok, so I go to Creative Device Control, and on the PCI/USB tab I've changed the sampling rate to 48khz.
    It was previously at 44.kHz
The bit depth is still at 6bit
Now the problem seems to be solved.
The problem was only with the output from the device. And now there are no skips!!
    Excellent!
Why has that solved it though?
I've read on other forums (head-fi) that the audigy cards do not run at 44.kHz nati'vely so the sound has to be downsampled.
Is that skipping an artefact of that downsampling process?
Will having that set at 48kHz, but recording to a 44.kHz 6bit wav file theoretically reduce the quality of the recording - compared to having it set at 44.kHz and recording a wav at 44.kHz?
On the SPDIF tab the input sample rate is shown as 44.kHz - as that's what is output by the DAC in my minidisc deck.
But when I changed the sampling rate on the PCI/USB tab, the SPDIF output sampling rate also changed to 48kHz.
This means if I wanted to record from the optical output, whilst also recording to the computer, and that device only supported 44.kHz - I can't do that?
You listed some main reasons to the truth, why Creative SB cards are not very popular on serious use (DAW). I.e. need for resampling. X-Fi's in creation mode are (least said to be) the only ones not resample everything.
There is a setting for "Bit-Accurate-Recording" (digital modes only) --> have you tried if that works on your recordings?

  • Perhaps silly, but, can Garageband take Dolby Digital 5.1 Input and record?

Using the built in mini toslink on the Mac? Or, can it simply do stereo? I see no reference to digital, or, AC3, or, TOSLINK or anything else in the help.
I have a music source that outputs dolby digital and want to be able to accept input from it.

Didn't think so, have searched the net for products allowing me to use the digital input, have not found any yet. I see things like Handbrake that allow me to convert say MPEG2 movies with DD content, but, what allows me to input the content in the first place?

  • Dolby Digital 5.1 Sound Delay

Hello to all you knowledgable people in the sound department!
I just hooked up my Koss home entertainment center, which suports Dolby Pro Logic 2, Dolby Digital, and other things, but these seem the most important. System Specs in sig. I have the latest Nvidia Audio Drivers.
My problem is whether I am playing music, or a game, or make any sound at all with the computer, it is delayed about a second. I have my speakers hooked up through the optical port on the S bracket. This problem is very annoying playing games, as I shoot a shotgun, and I see the flash, and a second later I hear the boom! I plugged headphones into the standard analog speaker jack on the motherboard.. if I am in a game, and shoot something, I hear it right away in the headphones, and then a second later my set of speakers play it. And of course that goes for any kind of sound, such as music. Interestingly enough, I have found that if I choose "5.1 Speakers" in the Nvidia audio setup thing it is no longer delayed, but it doesnt sound as good. Once I switch it back to "5.1 Speakers (Dolby Digital)" then it is delayed, but sounds better. On my receiver it shows the Dolby Digital icon thing, meaning that's what it isusing rather than Pro Logic 2.
I have searched these forums, the internet, and OCForums with no luck, and this si really driving me crazy!
ANY help is very much appreciated, thanks!
    -Dan

    Hi,
Acrobatikdan: Right, played on Doom3 for about an hour (my VGA card's not really up to it, so it's a bit jerky). There was only a very slight difference between what I heard out of my speakers (DD 5.1) and what I was seeing on screen, and wouldn't have been noticeable had I not been looking specifically for it!
So I reckon you do have problems if there's a second delay! As to what that problem is, I have no idea - unhappily!
Sorry I couldn't have been more helpful
Btw, If you do manage to fix it please tell us how, as it may help others in the future!
Here's an interesting page I just found:
    http://www.lvcoyote.com/soundstorm.htm
Note this quote from the webpage in the link above above, (although he is talking about another motherboard):
    Quote
Dolby Digital audio should be pre-prepared to be reproduced along with the video.  With weak CPU resources, you will have the sound lagging behind the picture.
Mind you, I'm only using an XP2400+ and I have no problem!
Frenchy over to you mate - any new ideas?!

  • Dolby Digital Auto Setting Doesn't Work w/4.4.2?

I have a bunch of old movies that were recorded in stereo, pre-Dolby, and of course, a bunch of newer in Dolby Digital.  After upgrading to Apple TV iOS 4.4.2 yesterday, I now find that the Settings/Audio & Video/Dolby Digital/Auto setting no longer works.
I just started a new iTunes downloaded movie with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound and noticed that it was playing in PCM stereo-only mode for some reason.  I then tried a couple of other older iTunes downloaded movies with 5.1 sound, and they all were playing in the same old PCM stereo mode, as well.  To get the new movie to play in 5.1 sound, I had to manually change the above Dolby Digital setting to ON.
A similar issue applies to older movies in pre-Dolby stereo.  If the above setting is set to Dolby Digital ON, those older movies switch from normal stereo to Dolby Digital 1.0/Center channel only sound, so I have to either switch the Dolby Digital setting to OFF or back to Auto, which defaults to PCM stereo for everything now.
Is anyone else experiencing this change?  The Auto function worked perfectly for me before this upgrade.
I'm using an Apple TV 2 with an optical connection to my audio amplifier.  The movie is streaming over my wired gigabit Ethernet home network from my iMac.

Seems to be an issue for some of us since 4.4; see other thread.

  • Dolby Digital/AC3 encoding?

I just bought a K8N Neo4, and hooked it up to my Panasonic audio receiver - just the one cable, S/PDIF optical. I was hoping to get 5.1 sound out of this, but all I get is two channel stereo.
Is there any way to encode a signal that my receiver can use to produce full surround sound (it supports Dolby Digital and DTS signals)?

    Nice.
I never even heard of it.  I always thought the only way was to go 6ch analog and have your external amp support multi channel in if the source wasn't DD/DTS already in which case it's not DD anyway.  Otherwise you only get 2ch PCM on the SPDIF. Then again I only have owned Creative sound cards....geez even then Creative made you buy the breakout box to enable AC3 decoding unless you made a board mod...  Of course you still need a multi channel source.  What kind of software do they come with?  Can you play a 6ch .wav for example and have a DD/DTS stream over SPDIF/Optical? or is only really for games, so for simplicity you can have one cable/fiber and not go analog till it 's on the way to the speakers?  Still though except for a few less cables, and when the D/A conversion takes place(and therefore the quality of which component is doing it, sound card or amp) I don't think it's that big of a deal if you have multichannel input amp.  DD is still not lossless compression so the big advantage would seem to be for those without multichannel inputs.  Otherwise it would be an interesting comparrision for the audiophile which I'm not.  You have a pure source and you compress to DD and lose quality and then decode and output  vs. Pure source going analog, losing signal quality along the way and outputting.  someone on the internet has surely done it.
