Audio playback issues; Macbook Pro OS X 10.6.8 Intel Core Duo 2007/2008 model

Hiya,
I cannot fully remember when this issue started but recently it has made listening to music, watching videos impossible. Whenever i play audio via iTunes, QuickTime, YouTube, Streaming via Chrome/Safari after about 5-10 seconds the sound will start to stall and then the machine will also stall and often become unresponsive untill i hit pause/stop or the mute button on the keyboard. I do not have this issue when using Ableton Live 8 or Logic Pro 9 as the sound and performance is what you would expect from an apple product; perfect.
I have had my logic board "replaced" twice via apple due to the NAVIDA issue on my model of macbook pro and they did mention that since they replaced it my macbook had developed a "software issue" which they aknowledged to be thier fault.
I have booked into see the genuis bar this saturday but was wondering if anyone has had these issues?

Gordon,
A couple of things this is an iMac forum, there is a MacBook Pro forum I'd recommend you repost to. Also I have asked the moderator to remove the serial number of your machine to protect your security. Next time you copy and paste just remove the serial number it isn't needed.
Best of luck.

I have a macbook pro with a 2.16 Ghz Intel core Duo processor. Can I install the iOS 5 software?

iOS 5 is for iDevices, not OS X. Your iDevice would only require 10.5.8 or later. If you have a Mac with a Core Duo processor then you cannot install Lion but you can install Snow Leopard provided you have at least 1 GB of RAM installed.

  • Is it possible to upgrade the 10.5.8 OS on  a MacBook Pro with a 2.4 GHz/Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 GB of RAm to the latest OS?

Is it possible to upgrade the 10.5.8 OS on  a MacBook Pro with a 2.4 GHz/Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 GB of RAm to the latest OS?

The first step in Upgrading... is to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
    Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
    Snow Leopard Tech Specs
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
If so... Purchase a Snow Leopard Install Disc...
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    Other countries...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading...
Next... Check that your Mac meets the Requirements for Mountain Lion.
    Upgrade to Mountain Lion
With Regard to ML...  Check here for compatibility of 3rd party Software you may be using... Also note that Rosetta is no longer supported in Lion and Mountain Lion...
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
You should also consider more RAM... Get the Maximum you can for your Mac...
It is important to get the Correct and Matching RAM
    See Here  >  OWC RAM  >  http://www.macsales.com
The above site also has videos on how to Install RAM should you need it...

I've got macbook pro w/OSXv10.6.8 and intel core 2 duo...how do i know if i have leopard or snow leopard?  i'm interested in the new lion

    tiger was 10.4
    leopard was 10.5
    snow leopard was 10.6
    and LION 10.7!!! LOL
so you have 10.6   which is snow leopard
you should be ready to update assuming you meet the other requirements.

But I have read now that apparently 16 GB is a bit too much for my computer to handle since certain components act as bottlenecks for whatever info/data and I don't end up utilising the full 16 GB..
The OSX will use as much RAM as it needs and is available for the given situation.  16 GB RAM will not be 'too much' in any circumstance.
Is spending $250 on a SSD worth it? Will it mean my RAM is more effective?
An SSD will allow for faster processing.  Whether the costis worth for its benefits it is for you to decide.  It will be able to swap data into the RAM faster but that does not make the RAM 'more effective'.  As I said, the OSX governs RAM usage as required.
Or will my CPU still be hindering everything and I should just accept I wasted some money?
The CPU does not 'hinder' anything.  It simply processes the data that is sent to it by the OSX within it specification limits.  I am not certain that I understand your thinking here.
Basically: is it worth trying to upgrade & is it possible to get more out of my 16 GB RAM
That decision is yours based on what you feel you need and your bank account.
    Ciao.

  • Unable to install Yosemite on my 2011 Macbook Pro (4gb Ram, 2.4 Ghz intel core 2 duo) machine.

    Hello People,
I have been trying to download and install the new Mac Os Yosemite on my 2011 macbook pro which was previously running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. But, for some reason I am not able to install the file even when the download has been completed. This is the message i see every time i try to do a 'retry'. Can anybody please tell me whats going on with the installation process. and how can I fix this problem.

    Your model uses:
    Maximum Memory
    8.0 GB
    Memory Slots
    2 - 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
So the specifications you provided will not work in your computer. Nor will your computer support 16 GBs.
A MBP 7,1 is a Mid-2010 model, not an Early 2011 model. If you truly have an Early 2011 model then it requires:
    Maximum Memory
16 GB (Actual) 8 GB (Apple)
    Memory Slots
    2 - 204-pin PC-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
The specs you provided are also not suitable.

  • New Iphone 4s - Old Macbook OS 10.4 and 2 GHz Intel Core Duo.

iPhone 4s won't sync with my Macbook.
    OS X10.4 is too old.
OS upgrade advised but not possible with the processor I have. OS upgrade minimum Spec specifies Core 2 Duo.
What are my options, from all the way up to a new laptop (maybe due?) to the less drastic, a new chip? Can I upgrade from Core Duo to Core 2 Duo on it's own?

  • Audio Playback Issue Premiere Pro CS6 with AJA IO Express

I am running Premiere Pro CS6 on PC Windows7 64Bit with AJA Io Express. The video is playing back fine no issues there but the audio is struggling to playback. Sometimes it plays back fine but 90% of the time doesn't.
When I play it back it sounds as if I am moving forward frame by frame! Very strange.
I have already installed the latest drives for AJA Io Express.
    Premiere Pro Version 6.0.3
    AJA Io Express version 10.3.0
Anyone has been expereince the same issues please let me know or anyone that know what's happening or any kind of suggestions again let me know pls
    thanks

Since it worked with CS5.5, check with Blackmagic to see if they have updates for CS6
I know from other discussions that an nVidia driver update was needed for at least some people upgrading to CS6

  • I have a late 2008 macbook pro with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memmory. Its starting to lag and is generally getting a little slow. It's running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5. How can i "update" it or just improve it's efficiency?

    help

    zibiva,
depending upon what you use your Late 2008 Aluminum MacBook for, you could increase your RAM from 2 GB to 4 GB or 8 GB; you could replace its hard disk drive with a SSD; and/or you could examine what software is currently in regular use, to see if any of those apps is contributing to the slowdown. If you haven’t done so already, you could download and install EtreCheck, and include the output from running EtreCheck in your reply, to see if anything there stands out as being particularly CPU- or RAM-intensive.

  • I have a 2010 MacBook Pro with a 2.53 GHz Intel Core i5 processor and a 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory? Is it recommended to upgrade to Yosemite?

I've seen a lot of people reporting problems with older MacBooks once they're upgraded to Yosemite. Wanted to check if I am making a mistake by upgrading. Currently, I am running Mountain Lion and things are OK, but comparatively slower than when I first got the machine in mid-2010.

One option is to create a new partition (~30- 50 GB), install the new OS, and ‘test drive’ it. If you like/don’t like it it, you can then remove the partition. Do a backup before you do anything. By doing this, if you don’t like it you won’t have to go though the revert process.
