Quicktime Movies - The audio plays but the video is completely messed up

Hi.
I have QuickTime V7.2 and my OS is XP.
All of a sudden QuickTime started playing back QuickTime movies with no video - there is just a lot of flickering green and purple - however the audio is there. Oddly, the files used to play fine. They were made on my PC as QuickTime movie files. The sound is there. (Additionally the files play ok in Realplayer.)
I've searched techy support but can't find an answer. Any ideas what is wrong?
I made the files on movie editing software called ULead, and as I said, they used to play fine.

A very similar and, I suspect, related problem. I created .mov files on my Mac, they play fine on the Mac, the audio plays but flickering video on my PC. I suspect it has something to do with the codecs used. Anyone have an idea as to how to make them compatible?

On your iPod, go to the main menu, Videos, Video Settings, then turn the TV Out option to OFF.

Audio plays but the video does not

I'm using the latest FCP and I've imported .Mov files which I've run through compressor so they all have H.264 at the end, however when I play them, the video stays still; only when I pause it does it jump ahead. The audio runs fine.
Am I supposed to run this through Compressor again (ie. I did it wrong)? Or is it just a settings thing?

I have a Flip and that takes video in .MP4; when I brought that into FCP it had a similar scenario play out so I assumed that I was supposed to have it as .MOV so I went to compressor to do that. I don't use Compressor often (read: ever) and I selected the one thing that said quicktime which also said H.264.

Audio plays, but no video

I watch a live service online and it was working just fine. Then I went to watch it and I could hear the audio, but not see the video. It just shows a black screen, yet I can hear it. I updated flash player and I can see the flash video thing on the website and it says flash player installed. The live video is using Flowplayer and I have Mac OSX. I downloaded the correct flash player for Mac OSX too.

Yes, disabling hardware accelaration I have no problem with flash player.

Audio plays, but no video on all projects & events

I am running iMovie '09 & I have imported video from my DV camcorder. in the event library, I see the frame thumbnails, but if I move the mouse over them, they turn black & when I mouse off it, the picture comes back. If I hit play on an event or a project, all I get is a black screen, but the audio is perfect. It's almost as if iMovie left the lens cap on!
What could be causing this? I can provide screen caps if that would be helpful at all.

I have a similar problem. I'd finished a project, used the transition editor to get rid of an "um" and now the entire video part won't play -- audio only.
If I could revert to the original version, I could live with the stupid UM, but I can't even figure out how to get to there.
PLEASE HELP!!!! I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO EDIT FOUR HOURS WORTH OF WORK ALL OVER AGAIN FOR A STUPID FREAKING UM!!!!!

Audio imports, but not video

Haven't ran into this prob before, so seems strange that it's happening now. When I attempt to import video into FCE, it all looks like it's going fine. I see the video, click capture, then press "escape" when I'm done with the import. Problem is the imported file is only audio. I've looked at the imported file(s) in finder and opened in QuickTime. Sure enough, just sound. No video.
I've edited about 10 projects this year using FCE with all of this same equipment, but have never had this problem.
I've made several attempts at troubleshooting this afternoon, but problem still not solved.
Because I was curious, I attempted to import the same video into iMovie 06 (again, using all of the same equipment). No prob. Video successfully imported with audio.
I even followed one thread's suggestion and got rid of some QT files in Receipts folder, then reinstalled QT. Did not solve problem.
I've unplugged everything, then restarted computer (twice). But that hasn't worked.
I've looked at Sequence settings to confirm that video's accounted for, and everything appears to be in order.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate reading them. I suspect I've overlooked something simple.
I should probably point out that I have not performed any recent upgrades to my OS.

Thanks so much. Trashing preferences worked. Wasn't sure what that meant, but googled it and found a helpful page. Just now succeeded at importing a video clip. As a slight aside, thumbnails now appear in browser, whereas text did previously. And borders/letterbox in viewer now appear gray instead of black. I realize these must be simple settings and I will hunt them down.
Thank you so much. After reading your initial reply, I'd suspected I was going to have to do a reinstall (not terribly difficult, as I've done it once before).

Why is youtube audio working but not video?

Youtube worked well 2 days ago but since then only the audio has been working with a blacked out background....I haven't changed anything just updated software in App Store... any suggestions?

First to do is to uninstall all previous versions of flash player by using Flash Player Uninstaller.
After you update directly from Adobe Flash Player Software website, repair permissions and restart your computer.

Adobe premire CC will play audio but not video

Hello guys I'm having an issue i recently upgrade my pc and added a second video card I have two amd readeon r9 290 with crossfire enable. Last night after installing both video card I ran premire and it would show the thumnail of my video but when i played it back only the audio would play but not the video.

Cpu: amd fx 8350
Motherboard sabertooth 990fx r2

Here are the steps for AirPlay:
Before starting Azul from your (running iOS 5.x/6.x) home screen where have have all your apps we need to turn on mirroring
On your iPhone 4S/5 or iPad 2 or 3, double-click the Home Button to view your recently-used apps.
Swipe all the way to the right to until you see the icon.
Note: If the icon does not appear, go to the "If AirPlay Mirroring is not visible or available on your mobile iOS device" section.
Tap the icon to see the list of available AirPlay devices.
Enable AirPlay Mirroring in this menu by tapping on an available Apple TV, then sliding the Mirroring slider to ON.
Now you should be seeing your iPad/iPhone on your TV.
Start up Azul now and using the settings icon on the top right corner go to the option that say "TV out" ON.
When you do that you will see an Orange screen
Now click "Done" and play the video you want to watch and it will AirPlay

What site are you trying to watch? I just tested 3. The you tube app streams from the pad to apple tv fine, as long as the source video format is ok. Checked a site called funny or die.com. Most of the videosmthere stream to apple tv fine. A few have a different format, and do audio only. Netflix does not stream at all, but you can get to netflix directly from apple tv. Whether or not it streams is directly related to the format of the video. Some do, some dont.

I am new to Premiere having just downloaded the 30 day trial yesterday, I jumped straight in and imported all of my files from my video camera however in Premiere only the audio plays back with the displays just showing a black space.
Out of curiosity I dragged three or four shots into the sequence editor and then exported them and played this through VLC and the video was there?
As I said I am completely new to Premiere having only spent around 3 or 4 hours with it in the past, I read a few forum threads around similar issues but couldn't find any solutions and as I am trying to edit together a short film for a college project due in soon I need to try and find a way to fix this A.S.A.P
Any help would be appreciated and if theres any more info I can provide please let me know.

I purchased these music videos from i-tunes, in the past I just had to go into "Music" on the I-pad and select "music videos" then the one I wanted to play and it would just start playing with video. Audio works in audio chat, but not in video chats.

So, when I start an audio chat with a friend, we can hear each other just fine. I then switch over to a video chat, and she can hear me, but I can't hear her. I already had to do all sorts of port forwarding in the firewall settings and router in order to rid myself of error -8... this is kind of frustrating!
I fixed the problem a week or so back by simply restarting iChat. When I tried that this time, no dice. Any ideas? Seems odd that it would work in audio chat but not in video chat...

I am having the same issue. Last night my sister and I did a video chat (which took some doing- we are both neophytes which it comes to this technology). It was great! But we had no audio. So we typed our conversation for quite awhile till my sister turned on her speakers...... Then she could hear me!! Now we were excited. But I never could hear them. On the video window there were 3 icons at the bottom, one being a microphone icon which had a line through it. So we are assuming the audio problem is on her end (she's using a Dell) and not at my end (since she could hear me)- is that correct? I checked all my settings and I had my speakers on the whole time with the volume maxed out. I could hear clicks when she wiggled something on her speakers but that was it. Any clue what she needs to check? I know I am posting in a Mac forum but we are giving it try again tomorrow and it would be nice to hear her. I know that there are plenty of us Mac users that have relatives that use PC's so maybe someone might have an answer. Will keep searching though. Judy
