Audio recording stops after a few seconds on iPad 1. Any suggestions?, Audio recording stops after a few seconds on iPad 1. Any suggestions?

On an IPad 1 even after a full restart, and only application running, I'm finding that Audio recoding stops after a few seconds. The duration seems to be fairly random between 5 seconds to 25 seconds. Creating other tracks seems OK.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

I've seen this issue in the past.  I think it is connected to the operating system itself.  I say this because I reinstalled the os using itunes and then restored a backup.  Then garageband started behaving again.  Then the issue came back - after I did an os update.  So I'd try reverting back to a fresh version of the latest os, and then restoring your apps using a backup.
Hope it helps

After recent upgrade to Yosemite on Macbook air bluetooth audio cuts out and associated video stops with audio. Likewise with airplay and Apple TV. I have deleted all my saved wifi connections and restarted numerous times. I do not expect a resolution from the community, but hope to get the attention of Apple engineers. If you are having same problems or have a miracle cure I am all ears.

May start my own thread, but I'm having similar issues.
I've been using an old iMac (running 10.7.5) and Apple TV for years with no issues. Last week I bought a new Macbook Pro running Yosemite and have had audio issues multiple times. The weird thing is that sometimes it works flawlessly, other times (like now) I spend half an hour just trying to get a song to play.
My issues are: When I got to "computers" in Apple TV to stream my music, my music is sometimes chopper or intermittent, and I seen to know when it's going to happen based on the status wheel just before it plays. When I choose a song, the status wheel will spin for an unusually long time, usually an indicator that the audio is either not going to work, or stutter.
When it does finally pull up a song, the playhead sits at the beginning of the song for a good 3-5 seconds before actually playing. Then, when it starts playing, it's all downhill. It will play a few seconds, drop out, play a few more seconds, drop out, and then ultimately the playhead will keep moving across the song as if it's playing, but there's no audio.
Again, this is a new phenomenon never experienced by me. I've tried everything I could think of, some of them all at once:
    • restart Apple TV
    • restart Macbook Pro
    • quite iTunes/open
    • turn off Home Sharing on iTunes then reconnect it
    • unplugging and cycling both my modem and router
None of these have alleviated the problem.
The odd thing is, like this morning, the audio started up perfectly and never gave me any issues. It wasn't until later in the day that it started. Perhaps after the macbook pro had been put to sleep? Not sure.
Regardless, this is an annoying trait, one that's new to me and my system (as stated, worked flawlessly until my new purchase), and is 100% limited to either a) the macbook pro b) Yosemite or c) both of them.

my ipad streaming purchased video from itunes stops every few seconds.  This does not happen with any other streaming video service.  I have restarted and rebooted already.

I've tried both things, but video still stutters.. Have also tried removing profile, and complete reinstall of firefox.
I'm on 24 Mbit cable and the only user atm. IE and Chrome seems to work without stuttering.
I've having this stuttering every ~5th second, like a small "1/4 sec buffering".

The problem Apps may need to be updated. Or maybe your iTunes account needs to just update itself on your iPhone. To do this, install a free App from the App Store on your iPhone. Tap App Store app on iPhone, select and install a free App. When that is done try the problem Apps to see if they work OK again.

  • Jerky Vioeo 4 few seconds and freeze it while play audio ok..

Thank all for ur input. The main problem is when I grab video clips from the desktop to the project window and play back on monitor of CS4, I get jerky video for few seconds and freeze it while playing audio perfectly up until to end of the clip. I have tried the same thing with APPro 1.5, the same thing has happened. When I play the SXS card thru Sony XDCAM EX1 on the Televion, I could not find any jerky video there. I have set the XDCAM EX1 and PProCS4 for PAL/HQ/1080i/25fps. Any other suggestions to try out.. Thx

I assume that the "desktop" is your C:/  drive and assume that is where you also run your Adobe application from.
Thats asking for exactly the issue you are experiencing.
PPRo needs multiple drives and setups to run correctly.  Check the setup and specs required for the application.

SMS. Deggie, had them check that.  After a lengthy discussion with Senior Tech advisor, it appears it is iMessage/Face Time server (they are the same) issue, which will strong arm those into purchasing Data if they use iMessage over multiple devices, as the server registers the phone number associated with apple ID.  Not impressed. I put what I've learned here in a simliar thread
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/17416082#17416082
and this is what I've put in apple.com/feedback
"iMessage requires internet.  SMS does not.  iMessage/FaceTime auto logs phone numbers to the iMessage/Facetime  server (it's the same server as I've come to learn), this means that when iMessage/Face Time is turned on anyone sending a message through the server to me will only be sent as an iMessage- not when I'm not connected to internet, meaning I will not receive the message as an SMS by default, when I have another device using iMessage (such as MacBook) logged in.
This feature is a problem for me, bottom line, in that iMessage strong arms the consumer (me) into having to buy a data plan that they either do not want, or do not need."

  • After I covered 250 miles I got the automated congratualtions, but now after every run I get the recorded message again saying I just covered another 250 miles. Can I reset or stop it without completly resetting everything?

I run with the Nano and shoe sensor. After I covered 250 miles I got the automated congratualtions, but now after every run I get the recorded message again saying I just covered another 250 miles. Can I reset or stop it without completly resetting everything?

Same issue here.  This is really disappointing.  I used to look forward to the milestone messages after each run, especially when I was surprised by a celebrity voice.  Now, it's the same thing every single time, "Congratulations on another 250 miles.  Way to go!" or something along those lines.  I was proud of the 250 mile mark, but please...I don't want to hear it every time!
I hope there's some movement on this issue.

  • All of my songs now last for one minute thrifty seconds. Most start at the beginning and stop at 90 seconds, a few start in the middle - but total play time is always 1:30. What's wrong?

All of my songs , when played, now last for exactly one minute thirty seconds. Most start from the beginning and cut off at 90 seconds, some start in the middle. What's wrong?

It appears that iOS 7.1 fixed this.

  • After upgrading to 10.9.5, the App Store "Update" button stopped working.

After upgrading from 10.9.4 to 10.9.5 tonight, the App Store "Update" button seems to have stopped working.  The App Store says I have one update available (Xcode version 6.0.1), but when I click "Update," the button turns white for a few seconds, and then it turns back to gray without doing anything.  I've tried the same steps after restarting my computer twice.
    A screen shot is below.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

You will be advised by people here that Sophos is "junk" and should be removed {...} Sophos actually works pretty well, in my testing, and so I would suspect that there may be an underlying problem with your file system that needs to be repaired.
FWIW, I have used Sophos regularly for several years now (including on my new iMac running Mountain Lion versions 10.8.2 & now 10.8.3) & never had any problems with it on any of the half dozen or so Macs I have installed it on.
Quite a few people automatically assume all Mac A-V software is troublesome junk, & many will leap to the conclusion it is the cause of some problem without considering other potential (& often much more likely) causes, regardless of which A-V product is installed.
Obviously I hope, not all A-V products are alike, so it doesn't make a lot of sense to me to condemn them all because of problems with one of them. Regarding Sophos in particular, finding first hand reports of it causing problems is quite difficult -- typically, if you ask for the details it turns out to be a second or third hand report & there isn't enough info available to know for certain if it is the real cause or not.
This is not to say it is impossible for it to cause problems, just that it is prudent to consider all the possibilities before concluding that any one of them is the cause.

  • 2 second gaps as well as 6 damaged frames sectors after capturing.

I have been getting the same problem with 3 different systems. An old PowerPC Mac Pro 7.3, a 24inch iMac, as well as with the latest 8-core MacPro 4.1.
I connect my Sony HDV camera with a firewire 800 cable. I set up to capture with Apple ProRes422 codec, I click on Log and Capture and I name the clip. The capture seems to be fine, the whole tape is captured and everything finishes properly. BUT when I look at the footage files that have been created I notice that on every tape there are one or two instances where a clip is only 6 frames long. On top of that when I look at the Media Start, Media End columns in the Browser window, I notice that there are gaps in the tape's timecode ranging from 1 and a half to 2 and a half seconds.
So I decide to recapture the same tape. I follow the above procedure and the same problems appear, only this time at different places on the tape. This leads me to believe that the problem lies with the camera so I clean the heads with a cleaning tape, and I follow the procedure again, and the problem persists.
    Any ideas anyone?

Turn off DV start stop detect, capture as non-controllable device, dub the tape to another HDV tape to run with constant timecode (no breaks), use an I/O device as previously stated. These are some things you can do to avoid the issue at hand, but there is nothing wrong with the way it's being captured. It is something you need to know for future reference. The computer doesn't actually record the first few seconds of any newly created (captured) clip. For instance, you can't capture the first 2-3 seconds of a tape, and you can't set an in point for a tape capture to less than 5 seconds, because FCP needs pre-roll to get the first frame. So, when you shoot, always start recording several seconds before you actually need to start recording. That way, the new clips will have some handles.
Every time you stop recording, the camera makes a note, and if you have DV start/stop detect turned on, it will create a new clip at these point. You could probably just turn this feature off in FCP and capture the whole tape in one clip.

  • Is there a way to get an iPad to play one audio track and stop.

Is there a way to get an iPad to play one audio track and stop.
I work in education and particularly music. Teachers are looking to create a playlist of selected track but only want the selected track to play then stop.
This allows them to talk to the class during presentation and not worry about having to stop playback mid discussion.
I've been successful doing this from appleTVs homeshared to a library by unchecking songs in the playlist. But It would be useful to instructors who have there own media on their device.

The only way to stop after a song is to create a playlist consisting of only that song.

Any active window becomes inactive after 10+ seconds. This doesn't just affect the Finder. It makes it very difficult to type an email or post to this forum.
No matter what window I select with the mouse, it will become deselected in a few seconds. I've ruled out the mouse and the keyboard. I don't know of any settings that would cause this. Can anyone offer a solution short of reinstalling the OS. I just finished installing my apps from receiving this computer at work on Friday.

I just reinstalled the OS, as Archive Install with Preserve User settings checked, without running System Update to 10.5.1. All is well now. Though I haven't run all of the installed apps since reinstalling. Some of my apps are not Universal Binary (ex. QuarkXPress 6, MS Office 2004, Adobe ImageReady CS2), though that shouldn't be a problem. Right now I will be ignoring the 10.5.1 update.

Every time I turn my mac off, the desktop background changes. It always returns to the same picture, which was the second or third thing I changed my desktop to after getting my mac. I have background switching unchecked in my preferences, and I have never selected it as an option. I would start with some basic troubleshooting.
