Automate Creation of new items in EBS

Hey everyone -
Just a question ,
we want to automate creation of new items in our system.
Our view is something like -
1. user GUI to request a new item, according to predefined templates.
2. Users fill a few fields of information.
3. Item manager gets notified and approves item is needed.
4. Automation to run batch and create everything relevant. (org assignment, item KFF, category assignments, BOMs etc). As much automation as possible, we can map template behaviour, variety is small.
I was wondering if there is any product supporting such behaviour.
I looked into Oracle's APC, and it seems like it doesnt do enough. Besides as far as I noticed it relies mostly on Item Catalog attributes which we don't. Also Im not sure if this product is "alive" coz oracle bought AGILE for PLM.
Does anyone know of a product that supports creation of new items and is flexible to fit our needs?
We want to make sure we're not missing something before we develop custom code for that.

This is prom PIM to Oracle
I have done an interface which creates an item in master and child .Which assighns category set on iots level controls .It inserts item into all active subinventories.
It notifies the end user with email any item already exits and error .
Regarding templates.
it assigs compatible templates at master and org leve.These are predefined and are not validated in program

    I have a requirement wherein I need to create next blank new line item (with predefined line item no) upon creation of one line item. When user opens sales order creation screen there should be default line item (say line item no 10) created. If user fills data in item 10 & press enter exit should create next line item (say item 20) automatically.
    Currently line item get created after user enter item details. I want this to happen before user enters data.

    There is a customizing for this. You can also make it using MV45AFZZ but really difficult coding. You must debug what system do while you create a line item manually then u need to use every routine which system uses and even there is no error message it's still possible that you'll face with inconsistencies in billing.
    I don't suggest you to try this using exit, unless you have 2-3 years SD experience. Best thing to do is inspecting customizing part.

    Hi Anil,
    It is always recommended to use standard item categories. Create new item categories if the functionality you require cannot be covered by the standard item categories. Following are the attributes and functions of a BOM  item category.                                                                               
    o   Is a material number required?                                                                               
    o   Is the item to be used in inventory management on a quantity basis
    o   Is the item a text item only, with no other functionality?                                                                               
    o   Is the item to be used as a variable-size item with the option of entering individual sizes ?                                                                               
    o   Is the item a document item?                                     
         The document item category allows you to enter a document which you created using the document management system.                                                                               
    o   Is the item a class item?                                        
         For configurable material BOMs, you can enter a class in which materials or documents are classified. When you assign characteristic values during BOM configuration, the class node is replaced by the object with the required characteristic values. In this way, the workload involved in maintaining BOMs with many variants is reduced, because you no longer have to enter all items individually and assign selection conditions to them.                                                                               
    o   Are sub-items supported?                                                                               
    o   Is the item a plant maintenance structure elment?               
         If the item is a PM structure element, the system does not check 
    If the requirement is to obtain the functionality by shuffling the above combinations, only than go ahead. 99 out of 100 times, the standard categories are suffiecient.

    Unless you use jurisdiction codes, and no external tax system, for
    example with tax procedure TAXUSJ, there is no validity dates for the
    condition records.  You can see this differnce by comparing the tables
    A003 without jurisdiction codes and A053 with jurisdiction codes.  A053
    contains the extra fields DATBI (key field) and DATAB.  This is the
    standard functionality.
    Please have a look at the following part of note 418582:
    " Changing past percentage rates has to be inhibited in order to avoid
    database inconsistencies. For this reason, the functions which allow you
    to transport time-dependent tax codes with percentage rates from the
    past are not supported."

  • Disabling automatic crawling of new items

    We have a CMS system that works together with SAP Knowledge Management in the portal. However when we create a new document the crawler automatically starts to crawl the created content.
    Due to performance reasons we would like to disable this and only have the crawler/trex indexing and categorizing this according to our schedule.

  • Automatic creation of new dimension members

    Hello all,
    Bit of a long post so please bear with me.
    I am about to embark on only my third BPC project after having spent several years implementing solutions using BusinessObjects Planning (formerly SRC software), and am still struggling to come up with an elegant solution to the fact that I cannot save data to dimension elements unless they are already explicitly defined in the dimension member list (presumably due to cube architecture).
    Those of you who have used BOP/SRC will remember this as unvalidated dimensions.
    I find having to first go to admin and pre create members before being able to use an input schedule to save data against them is very restrictive.
    I'm hoping one of you guys can help me improve on the workaround I currently use.
    For example I have a 'bid submission' input schedule that is used by the user to submit bids for increased budget, capital or revenue, capturing basic costs and commentary. The user selects a bid number from a combo box which is populated by using an EVLST formula to read in pre created dimension members. I have to save a flag to the db which I then use to exclude already used numbers when feeding the combo box on future submissions.
    Which works ok but if I have a hierarchy on bid number based on say, cost centre, how do I get around the fact that number ranges have to be pre-assigned to cost centre, Cost Centre A = 1 to 1000, Cost Centre B = 1001 to 2000 etc. What happens if I go over the 1000 on Cost centre A? I then get non contiguous ranges per cost centre.
    Is it possible for the bid number to be dictated by the user when they start to fill in the bid submission? Or give the impression that they are?
    Or if the client has a bid number format that cannot be pre created? Eg incorporating things like year or person etc. This information could be save separately but not within the bid number. Is it possible to save data to dimension property columns from an input schedule?

  • Approval procedure for the creation of a new item

    I would like to have an approval procedure for the creation of new items. In that when one gets added, it gets placed on hold immediately and an alert gets sent to a manager.

    The solution would be the combination of SBO_SP_TransactionNotification stored procedure allowing only for some authorized persons to add an item with not ‘On Hold’ status, and an alert to the authorized persons.

  • Creation of cProjects automatically from creation of Portfolio Item in xRPM

    Hi,
    If we check out the box for the automatic creation of cProject along with creation of Portfolio item then the cProject as well as an internal order is created in the system.
    While I am creating an item and selecting for automatic creation, I am not able to get the internal order and not even the corresponding cProjects.

    Auto Creation of new requisitions based on a list of items
    We are starting discussions to determine how we could auto-create requisitions based on a list of servers in order to perform periodic health checks. 
    One approach we thought about was creating one service request that could spawn multiple requests, again based on a list and using a set schedule (weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, etc.)
    Has anyone implemented this and can provide some guidance/tips?

    For the many people that have asked this question.
    N item category in the BOM is always going to propose direct procurement. Through configuration I have not found a way to make it go away from the planned order. You can make it go away from the production order.
    The IMG path:

    In order make this setting effective, you must define the following

    Please note that this setting is effective for reservations and
    requisitions.
    The best solution is to use BOM item category L with the bulk indicator set. You will not get any direct procurement proposals or planned orders and you can use long term planning to see the time phased MRP results.

  • Automate workflow: receive email feed then publish as news item

    Hi,
    Each week, news is sent from an external email account to a wide distribution.  Each week, I manually copy that email into the BC News module and publish it on the webiste.  I also manually update the "Subject" and "Expiry" fields.
    Is there a some way to automate this?  I was hoping there might be a Web App that would act as an email recipient.  Upon receiving the email, the webapp would:
    Duplicate subject field from email to subject field in news item
    Duplicate content from email to content in news item
    Set the expiry date to be recived-date + 2 weeks (or some arbitrary value)
    Publish the news item
    Send a confirmation mail to the administrator, indicating a news item has been automatically published
    I'm not concerned about securing the email feed from spammers.
