Automatic facial recognition / person tagging in your photo albums

Hello, I have just installed ilife 08 and am looking around iphoto. I'm glad improvements are made to the way you can organise your photos.
I had an idea, and wanted to know what Apple thought about it, or even if they are developing such a thing already. Then maybe you can tell me what's planned.
What about developing the software so you can 'tag' a face in a photo (jarmanje for example), and then all of your photos are automatically searched through for a match of this face. Then a 'tag' can automatically be added to the photo with the face, making it brilliant for searching for all photo's which the person who you want to search for is in. I'm sure it won't pick up every photo with you in it, but it would get a lot.
Seems like it would be possible with such technologies having been already developed for security systems etc?

How to delete one of your photo albums but doesn't have a red thing

I went on my friend's computer to download my pictures from my pervious phone, I noticed that the pictures came up twice in 2 different albums. It won't allow me to delete on or both of the albums. Also when I take a picture it goes into a third album "Camera Roll". What do I do?

Under the section on "To delete photos and videos from your device."
When you sync photos from a computer, the only way to remove the photos is through the computer again.
If the photos were inside of a folder, they would be inside an album named after that folder, and you would also have another album named "Photo Library"
Camera roll is, as roaminggnome mentioned, where your photos and videos go that you take on the device. These can be deleted freely on the phone with no issue. Only photos that were moved from a computer will need to be removed through iTunes.

Facial Recognition-- Best Practice

Question about facial recognition for tagging, Lets say you have a person who has baby pictures, child pictures, teenager, and adult pictures.
should you tell PE that these are different people (john infant, john child, john teenager, john adult) to make the searching more accurate. (then you can combine them manually)
Or, should you tell PE that these are the same people John, and it can figure out the changes without any confusion.

Good questions. Annecdotally, PSE automatically recognized a photo of me when I was 1, after I tagged a number of photos of me as an adult. Don't know how representative that is, but I would bet that it's not going to recognize me as a teenager!
As for technical references, I'm not aware of any that Adobe has published. It appears that Adobe has licensed the technology from Cognitec:

While a frontal view of the upright face is recommended, some deviations are admissible. A horizontal (yaw) or nose up/down (pitch) rotation of the head of up to 15 degrees is admissible. Also, the face is admitted to deviate from upright view (roll) up to 15 degrees.

Multiple iPhoto libraries facial recognition

I have decided to use multiple iPhoto libraries. In one library I have used facial recognition for all of my photos. Q: When I move to the next library will iPhoto recognize those faces?

One of the many reasons that multiple libraries are not recommended - iPhoto is a SQLite database and it is most powerful when you have one database - there is no connection of any sort between different libraries

Photo Album from Internet

Hi, wondered if anyone could help.
We are trying to deploy photos of students to staff on their school iPads.
The idea is they can be used in something like idoceo.
Yes we could send out all pictures but with 1200 students, a lot would be unnecessary and it would be difficult to find the picture you need.
Instead we have folders of classes, containing the photos for that class.
My question then, is there anyway we can just have a package of photos by class. The user can then download this package and all the photos for that class would go into their own class album on the iPad?
The idea is here that when we re take the photos, we can just update the package for that class and the teacher can just redownload their class.
Staff will already have their iPads so we don't really want to pre load the iPads with the pictures, but can't think of a way to organise them automatically and share them to staff in albums.
Any ideas?

How to transfer from old computer (Photo Album) to new computer (Elements)?

For Christmas I'm getting my wife a new version of Adobe and a new computer, as well. She has 12,000 photos with tags in Adobe Photo Album 1.0 on the old computer. I'm installing Adobe Elements 8 on the new computer. How do I transfer the photos with tags? Thanks for any advice.

I recommend that you first install PSE 8 on the old computer and convert the PSA 1 catalog to PSE 8. Then once PSE 8 is running correctly, you can use the backup/restore method to move the catalog and photos to the new computer. Though it is sometimes possible to do it in the other order, or to do the move and conversion in one step, I strongly recommend not doing that -- it will make the troubleshooting much harder.
Though Adobe claims to support conversion of catalog from previous version to PSE 8, many people with PSA and older versions of PSE have experienced problems. See this FAQ for details on how to deal with common issues that might arise:

How do You Create Photo Albums without PC - Lumi...

Well as you seem uninterested in a more extensive answer what else is there. A Windows Phone device is not 'on it's own' so to speak it is part of an ecosystem which includes Skydrive, your Micrsoft account and more. As such it uses features provided by these resources.
As the OS is very secure it does not allow too much tinkering with the 'inside' instead it allows you to pull in information from a number of sources. Your Photo Albums are on Facebook, Skydrive and other locations. There they can be edited/renamed or whatever. This has always been the way WP is designed even before other started copying this behaviour as it makes sense.
In a few years time _everyone_ will be using the cloud like this and it will be a none-issue. When the time comes just remember WP was the frontrunner in this and the other systems followed their lead..

Photo Album Won't Run From Internet

CS4 - I posted earlier that my photo albums won't run from the internet but runs from my computer and from a flash drive. I have rebuilt it probably 10 times. Whatsapp message of photo albums problem

How to send photo thru to whatsapp it was scan from my computer of photo album .
In addition, I have scan photo from my computer to Iphone 6+, it was save at my album folder created many photo album using the phone itself, each time after I sync, only photo show current photo only. and not showing any album created previously.

IPhone photo album file name sort order

I have a folder with photos in it on my Mac. When I sync the folder to my iPhone and view the photos on the phone, the photos are not displaying in file name sort order. The file names of the photos are numbers (001, 002, 003 etc.). It seems the photos are being displayed in date created order and not in the file name order. The album with photos on my Mac is arranged / sorted by the name when syncing.
Is there a way to have the photos in the iPhone album displayed in file name sort order?

Focus Point (not free, no ads) will allow you to rename the files, add descriptions, and sort in a variety of ways. But it won't let you do anything in the main screen except browse your photo albums or camera roll, select one, and then you can do a search within that album or camera roll--and then if and only if the photo has a filename or description can you search for it. Bottom line: be sure to give your photos a proper file name and add a description.

How do I stop my photo album from updating?

My photo album updates every now and then, and as a result, some photos are lost.
Is there any way I can stop it?

Your photo album is synced. When you sync your computer, then it makes sure that the ipod is in sync with the selected folders on your computer. Any change on the computer will be reflected on the ipod when you sync. This is the design of the ipod.

My Photo Albums?

Hi,
I would like one page which has links to my photo pages, I started using the About Me template and it even has a My Photos Albums section. But how do I add the links to the separate photo pages? Also the other problem is that the Photo Page header appears in the menu bar when I only want then to appear on the photo albums page.

-Highlight the Album page in the left hand column
-Go to view>show inspector in the menu bar
-In the inspector window click on the second icon for "page"
-uncheck the box that says "include page in navigation menu"
-do this for each album page
On your Photo album menu page:
-Click the "T" in the toolbar to add a text box
-Drag the text box to where you want it and resize it
-double click in the box and type your album name
-now highlight the text and go to Insert>hyperlink>webpage
-The inspector will change to the Link menu
-check "enable as hyperlink"
-In the drop down menu, go to "one of my pages"
-choose the page and the hyperlink will be added
-do this for each album page

Photo Albums? How?

How do you make a separate album from the Camera Roll one? I know you can, I saw they had multiple albums on the videos, but I can't figure out how to make one.
I've looked through the online manual, and it doesnt say how to make them, it just says you can organize your photos by making albums.

Since you are a Windows user, which application are you using for photo storage - did you transfer any of these photos to your iPhone?
If so, you create your photo albums with your photo storage application that is used to transfer photos to your iPhone via iTunes and you should be able import photos taken by your iPhone to this application - no different from a digital camera. After importing photos taken by your iPhone to your computer, you can place these photos in one or several of your photo albums which will be added back to your iPhone when syncing your photo albums via iTunes.
