Automatic time zone error

Out of the blue automatic time zone shows that I reside in Seoul-Korea when I'm actually in Jakarta-Indonesia. It messes up the date and time as a result. It works just fine before yesterday.
Anybody knows what happen?
The solution is quite I easy, I just turn the automatic time zone off and set my location manually.
Thanks, logamberat.

This is happening to both my spouse (TURBO 32GB) and I (TURBO 64GB). The first time she noticed was three days ago. Her phone was correct at home (Pacific time zone), but when she got to Seatac airport, her phone was in Alaska time zone. Yesterday, I went downtown and my phone's time went back an hour and the time zone was set to Alaska. At home, it is correctly set to Pacific with correct time. It is correct right now, but her's is wrong right now (she's downtown). Seems like something wrong in the information the phone is receiving off the network, but could it be the phones? This wasn't happening a week ago. Thanks for any thoughts.

  • Time zone error at Icloud

There is a bug in the Icloud which I need support.
When I add a new event in the Iphone or Ipad, it is uploaded to Icloud correctly.
But when the Outlook downloads it, Outlook 2012 receives the event one hour earlier.
    It creates a huge confusion.
Apple should fix it because it is a primary time zone error.
    Can anyone help me?

When I try to set the automatic time zone on my iPad wi-fi mini in Settings all I get is the "waiting" wheel constantly turning.

    How to solve this problem?
    Thanks!

You must be connected to a good wifi network for it to reach an outside time server.

  • Automatic time zone stuck with the previous location

    Hi everybody,
I wanted to use automatic time zone option but it doesn't work at all. When I ask to search for my location, it shows my previous location not current. I restart my Wi-Fi modem, restore the default settings, delate "com.apple.timezone.auto.plist" nothing helps.
Thanks in advance for any hints!

The Mac may be trying to find its location by looking in a database of WiFi locations. If you brought your WiFi router from your old location, it may still be located in your original location in the data base. If they are using Skyhook you can update it yourself.
    <http://skyhookwireless.com/howitworks/submit_ap.php>
Otherwise you will just have to not use the automatic setting until your WiFi router gets detected and its location updated.

  • Automatic time zone wrong post 2/21/14 security update

Updated ipad air and iphone 5s with new security update today.  For some reason, automatic time zone is now indicating I am in Chicago(central time) even though I am in Cincinnati, OH (eastern time). Anybody else having this problem?

    Hi all,
i came also across this problem. If you use APEX automatic time zone detection you only get a time zone like '+01:00'. This is insufficient to handle Daylight Savings for TIMESTMAP WITH (LOCAL) TIME ZONE in the past or in the future that differ to the current Daylight Savings.
    Try the following:
If you set your time zone to something like 'Europe/Berlin' then Oracle correctly stores/converts the data. To get this more exact timezone information, use jsTimezoneDetect (https://bitbucket.org/pellepim/jstimezonedetect/downloads) on the login page and store the result in a (hidden) item. In the page processing after the login handling, set the time zone.

  • [SOLVED] Gnome's automatic time zone setting never triggers

Whenever I travel across timezones, I need to open Date & Time Settings and turn Automatic Time Zone off and then on again. When I do that, the timezone updates correctly. Is there maybe a super-long refresh interval on that feature by default? Or some optional package I need to install to actually enable it? Thanks for any suggestions.

Oh good call, that was off. I'll assume that was the issue. (I guess turning on Automatic Time Zone does one location check irrespective of the setting?)

  • Automatic time zone wrong, automatic time zone wrong

Has anyone at Apple figured out a fix for the "Automatic Time Zone" bug?
Up until about a month ago, my phone (4, 16 gig) was working fine. Now it won't recognize any new time zones, and I have to set them manually. It's rather annoying.

You can run Repair Disk from the Restore  Partiton your HD. Restart the computer, when you hear the startup tone choose the Restore Partition and then open Repair Disk. However I'd be surprised if that has anything to do it with it. You should run Repair Disk Permissions at least 2x, and then if you want run Repair Disk. Then restart the computer in Safe Mode to clear some caches. Then restart normal and check the Time Zone.
I also suspect you don't have iCloud setup correctly. You should check in Address Book preferences and see if you have duplicate accounts, I suspect you do. If I'm correct that would create duplicate entries.

That's probably an issue with '''cookies''' rather than with clearing browsing history. Are you clearing your cookies, too?
If you want to continue clearing your cookies when Firefox closes, look for an extension that will save the cookie for a preference like that one

  • Automatic time zone... where is it?

I have got iphone with o2. I am in France for a month when I go to general date and time I cannot see set up automatically and time zone is locked to London, anyone can explain this. Thanks you folks for help.
    David

I have the exact same FIRST problem that davidmorin is discribing:
After an Update on my iPhone 2G from version 1.1.4 to version 2.0 and 2.0.1, I cannot see "set up automatically" (for the time zone) anymore in Preferences >General >Date & Time. Also, as a second problem, "24-Hour Time is greyed out so that can not move it from either ON to OFF.
    All I see is:
-24-Hour Time (greyed out and not acccessable
    -Time Zone (accessable)
    -Set Date & Time
Even a reset all settings on the iPhone or a complete restore through iTunes does not help

  • Automatic time zone conversion in web dynpro

We have a WDA running on top of a SAP system that is running on US time. The data from the WDA must be stored in SAP using US time. The WDA will however run in England and needs to display English time to the users. Is there any mechanism or concept in web dynpro that provides automatic time conversion when reading from and displaying time and when writing data back to the database? Some kind of  screen exit or other?
I am not asking how to convert the value of a single field from one time zone to another, I am hoping for some general solution to the problem of time zones in web dynpro.
    Thanks!

I don't really have anything useful to say, but couldn't help to add my two cents here...
Whenever you work in a system that supports users or other parties spread among different time zones you start wishing for some better time zone support. It's not just the user's time zone that is relevant, just imagine for example a service call to a call center in India, where probably the customer's time zone is even more important than the user time zone.
I know that in principle we have some design issue here, because standalone dates (without any time details) are impossible to convert among different time zones. It would be nice though if the system would provide a framework where any date/time fields can be registered and linked to some time zone field. Changing the time zone field, would automatically update all registered date/time fields.
Ideally the field for choosing time zones would have the ability to show a list of preferred time zones with (changeable) explanations. One could for example imagine that by default it's populated with the two entries for user time zone and system time zone. Each application should be able to register additional time zones, e.g. sold-to time zone for an order, etc.
Another (workaround) option I used in applications (for automatically filled read-only fields, like creation date/time) is to settle on one reasonable default time zone (e.g. user) and then have tool tips showing dates/times in other relevant time zones.
Anyhow, lots of half-baked gibberish, essentially I just wanted to say that it would be nice to have some better time zone support, so I'm voting for that as well (good point Chris). And ideally this would not be limited to web dynpro. I'm sure some smart person should be able to come up with something nice...

  • Automatic Time Zone chooses wrong continent - Lion/iCloud

I live in Melbourne, Australia but when I set the Date/Time prefs to the "Set Time Zone Automatically" it chooses Wayne, MI - United States which is approx' 16 hours behind. It worked fine for a while and it malfununctioned soon after setting up an iCloud account.
Also, a few days after setting up iCloud each entry in my Address Book was duplicated including mine, the administrators.
I have run disc repair ( no help) but not from the startup disc. Can I use the Snow Leapard startup disc to run disc repair after updating to Lion?
    Thanks, Brendan.

I live in Moscow (Russia) and I've bought iPad Mini here.
When I ask Siri to create a meeting for example at 5 p.m. she creates it at 6 p.m.

  • Automatic Time Zone Settings won't work on my Macbook Pro OSX 10.6.7

In Settings, Date & Time, when I attempted to select "Set time zone automatically using your current location", my Macbook Pro attempetd to find location, and after a while it end up with a dialog read "Unable to determine current location at this time"
I have to disable this feature and use manual selection of my time zone (Indochina Time, Bangkok, Thailand)
Anyone here have recommendation to make this one work properly?
\My location service is enabled on y system!
    help please

I got that problem for several months and used to update my location manually. Today, I got lucky. Try this:
In Security System Preference pane, General tab, make sure the "Disable Location Services" is unchecked. Then Reset Warnings.  Click OK to allow the service to ask you to use your location every times it'll need it. Now I got the right time zone. Finally!
