Automatically accept screen sharing from specific user ???

My mother is a newbie mac user. To be honest, she's a newbie computer user - full stop. She did inherit my PC laptop when I switched, but within a week she had crashed it. The mac she has is still running. (And guess who got it for her. I'm a good daughter.)
Anyway - her G4 Powermac is running Leopard like a dream. In fact it is much faster now than before. Still, she has a few issues. Like the other day, she couldn't get music through her speakers and I'm abroad at the time.
I asked her to accept a screen share, she did. I fixed the speaker issue and closed the screen share. She is happy as larry. But that got me thinking. Is it possible to automatically accept screen share from certain users? That would be a great help if that would be possible.

Musicsites, here is your answer. Just follow the instructions completely and it will work quite well. I have it running and it allows my iMac to automatically answer incoming Screen Sharing requests ONLY from my MacBook.

How to identify relevant BADIs to hide a screen field from specific users

We have a business requirement to hide a document item field (BSEG-XREF3) from specific users (i.e make the field invisible if the userid does not exist in a Z table) during FI invoice entry/maintenance/display via transactions FB01, FB02, FB03, FV50, FV60, FBV0, etc.. We know that it would be possible to do this via modification to the Process Before Output sections of LF040O00, LFDCBFM0, MF05AO00_DYNPRO_MODIFIZIEREN, MF05LO00, but would prefer to avoid modification if possible.
I believe that BADIs could possibly be used for screen enhancements, but have not had any previous exposure to BADIs, so I'm really not sure whether it's possible to use BADIs for our specific requirement. For example, using the advice given in the 2nd post in thread BADI for contract, I've searched SAPMF05A for all 'CALL METHOD cl_exithandler=>get_instance' statements, and have found that a single BADI (FBAS_CIN_MF05AFA0 - EWT - Downpayment Clearing - Tax transfer for CIN) seems to exist for FB01. The description of this BADI sounds completely inappropriate for our requirement. However, subsequent posts in that thread suggest far more BADIs for the relevant transaction than were given when searching the ABAP for all 'CALL METHOD cl_exithandler=>get_instance' statements, so I'm not convinced that the procedure I'm following will provide me with all the relevant BADIs for the transaction.
Please can you advise me how to identify which BADIs - if any - can be used to control screens before output for FB01 screen SAPMF05A/332 (SAP R/3 4.6C)?

The screen variant solution would be invaluable under different circumstances, but would be too complex to administer for this particular issue because we're trying to hide the field from unauthorised users in over 100 invoice entry/maintenance/display transactions.
We can make a Process Before Output modification to 4 SAP standard programs (LF040O00, LFDCBFM0, MF05AO00_DYNPRO_MODIFIZIEREN, MF05LO00) to make the field invisible for unauthorised users (i.e. whose user-ids are not in a Z* table), but would prefer to avoid modification if we could use BADIs instead. You've said that you're not sure how we can identify the relevant BADIs, but I very much appreciate the suggestion you've made anyway - it might be useful to others who find themselves in a similar situation for a more limited number of transactions.
Please can someone advise me how to identify which BADIs - if any - can be used to control screens before output for FB01 screen SAPMF05A/332 (SAP R/3 4.6C)?

Screen sharing from Tiger

Is it possible connect to another mac and gain access to its screen from a mac running tiger? I am trying to connect to my mac laptop that is running Leopard. I can get my laptop to screen share with this tiger computer, but not the other way. any suggestions?

Actually, you don't even need that vine server on your Leopard machine, or on your Tiger machine (I'm a little unclear who is who on your working configuration and who is who on your not-working configuration).
If you want to use your Tiger machine (VNC client) to access the Leopard machine (VNC server), then on the Leopard machine, go to Sys Prefs > Sharing, check the Screen Sharing checkbox, and click on the "Computer settings..." button. In the resulting popup, check the "VNC viewers may control screen with password" checkbox and enter the password that you will require the Tiger client to use to connect with their VNC client program. I assume you are using CotVNC or JollysFastVNC as the VNC client program on your Tiger machine?
Now, if I got the direction backwards, here is what you would do to use your Leopard machine (VNC client) to access the Tiger machine (VNC server): On the Tiger machine, go to Sys Prefs > Sharing and check the Apple Remote Desktop checkbox on the Services panel. I think that would do it.
Now, I, personally, further configure my Tiger machine to allow VNC from other Tigers as well as from Leopard's Screen Sharing program in Leopard, so while I don't think you would have to do the following for Leopard-only clients, if the above isn't working, then try these additional steps:
First, click on the Tiger (VNC server) Firewall tab in Sys Prefs Sharing. Click "New." There is a pulldown menu in the resulting popup where you can choose "VNC." Choose it. It will "quickfill" the port entry information for you. Save those changes and exit.
If that still doesn't do it, then return to Sys Prefs > Sharing > Services panel. With the Apple Remote Desktop service checkboxed and highlighted/selected, click on the "Access Privileges" In the top part of the resulting popup, you can grant access privileges by user; fill out as desired. In the bottom part, check the "VNC viewers may control screen with password" checkbox. IF you were allowing VNC access from other Tigers, use the password that you would want VNC clients to use. I think you probably need something in there if you have to do this last step.
By the way, you know that, in Leopard, you can launch Screen sharing from Finder by doing a ⌘k and typing in "vnc://{name of remote computer goes here}", right? Also, if you haven't already done so, you may find it convenient to drag /System/Library/CoreServices/Screen Sharing.app onto your dock and/or make an alias of it in your Applications folder.

Hiding a document library from specific users or groups.

Just FYI I am far from a SharePoint but have able to accomplish a lot from everyone's help on the forums, so thank you in advace.
Now, Is it possible to hide a document library from specific users or groups? Here is what I am trying to accomplish.
We have a Document library that we want the whole company to view, we will call this Company Share. We then want to have a separate library/app that
is only visible to the Finance department. Then another library that is only visible to the shipping dept.
So when Linda from finance logs into the SharePoint site under Site Contents she should only be able to see 2 items, Company share and Finance.
Tom from shipping will only see Company Share and Shipping. Administrators and Management will see Company share, finance and shipping.
I was able to hide the library using sharepoint designer by checking the box "Hide from Browser" which worked but now none of the users can view the library.
They are only able to access it via a direct URLl link.
Any help is appreciated.

Enable Screen Sharing from command line

I inadvertently removed screen sharing from my mac mini server firewall but I can still ssh into it. How can I enable either screen sharing or remote management via ARD?

Sorry for the imperfect instructions, I was doing it from memory.
First, set up secure ssh credentials by doing the public/private RSA key exchange.
Based on someone else's suggestion I found on the web, I created an "alias" command in my .tcshrc file. I just launch a terminal session and use my alias I've created, followed by my ssh credentials on the remote machine, and the alias/script does the rest.
Begin fragmment from my .tcshrc....

... End fragment.
So when I want to vnc I just type
$ myvnc [email protected]
In fact, after a while, I got tired of reading all the server logs of people trying to hack my server over port 22 (ssh standard port). Once you have the alias command above working for you, you can pick a different port on your server's firewall, and forward it to port 22 inside the firewall. That way, hackers that scan your port 22 won't get any response.
Once you do this, you can revise the alias in your .tcshrc to also include the "-p" ssh argument, so hep save you the trouble of remembering the ssh port you have moved your server conversation to. For example, it you decided to close port 22 at the firewall, and forward port 2222 (just an arbitrary number I picked) to your server's port 22 inside the fire wall, your alias line would look like this...

I'd like to create two different sending from SAP System - the first is monthly and the second is everyday.
May I schedule jobs either send mail from concrete SAP Users?
Otherwise Everyday job also can send preset messages from monthly job...

Hello A.M.,
You cannot schedule the job to send emails from specific users. If the send job is configured to run for INT, for example, it will send all emails with status 672 in SOST.
One thing you can do is to set waiting time in the emails. To do this, go to SOST, select the emails you want to set a wait time and click on the button "Set Wait Time" (it's a clock icon next to the delete button).

Screen Sharing from 10.6 client to 10.5 server looks cruddy

Any idea why Screen Sharing from my 10.5.8 OS X Server (XServe G5) to my 10.6.5 MacBook Air would look like crap (pixellated)?
Here's what it looks like. It also looks like this from my Mac Pro (10.6.5 also).

It also looks like this in ARD "Observe" or "Control" mode.

Fixed it. Turns out it was the video card (more likely the video card driver). I swapped a new vidcard in there and it's good to go.
This was a cluster node, so it didn't have a stock video card.

Screen sharing and multiple users

I have an iMac at home that is used by multiple family members. I have multiple logins enable so it is common to have 2-3 accounts logged in at once. I would like to use screen sharing to connect to my account even when one of the kids is logged into their account.
I started by looking at the vnc processes. There is one process that run as root:

Then there is another process for each person logged in:

So I have two questions. One is how can there be three processes running that listen on the same 5900 port at the same time and how does it decide which one to connect a vnc client to? My second question is how can I prevent the AppleVNCServer process from starting for each user. I've tried killing those processes but they respawn immediately.

Here is what I am trying to do:
I have 2 users (Plex and Ursus) that I want to have logged on at the same time. Plex will be "in the front" i.e. that is the screen that is seen if you are at the mini. Ursus is a user that is logged on but you cannot currently see (i.e. in the back as it where). I would like to work using the user Ursus (to, for example, rip a movie from a DVD (that I own of course :o).
Using file sharing would mean that I have 2 machines running and that I need to copy all the files from the one machine to the other, not exactly what I want but manageable.
I have managed to get this "partly" working - I am using Vine Server for Mac (http://www.testplant.com/products/vineserver/OSX) which allows me to start a VNC server on e.g. port 5901 and then screen share to that session. If I setup the second user (Ursus in this case) to use this server then I can connect to the "back" user. The only problem being that Vine Server seems to crash with Plex - as soon as I start it Plex just hangs and randomly crashes!

Screen Sharing Disabled Per User?

Hi, this is a repost from OSX usability forums...hopefully someone can help here:
I caught a kid cheating this morning by utilizing Screen Sharing to see what his neighbor was answering on a test. I would like to disable Screen Sharing as it pertains to the user, but I still need to run Remote Desktop and see all machines at the admin level. Each kid has an OpenDirectory account, so would it be possible to block at that level?

Block the Screen Sharing application. If the accounts are OD accounts, just add this to the MCX set and start enforcing an explicit deny on the Screen Sharing app. That should resolve it. The other option, assuming all systems have a unified admin account that the kids don't know, go into System Preferences > Sharing > Remote Management and choose "only these users" and add the local admin account only. That should set up a SACL for the ARD/Screen Sharing process to only allow access for the one user, not for all potential users of the machine.

If I enable ARD client on any machine, whether it's running Leopard, Tiger or Panther, other Leopard client users are potentially able to observe and control that machine using the Screen Sharing feature, if they had the correct username and password, and the client being observed would have no idea. Fortunately they haven't figured this out yet.
This is a problem for me, as I need the ability to observe/control other client machines in this office using my ARD admin, but I need to ensure my Leopard users cannot do the same thing using the Screen Sharing feature.

The problem is that I almost always inevitably end up having to reveal the admin password at some point when I'm trouble shooting a staff member's Mac over the phone while he's overseas on business for example.
Once a user name and password slip out, there's really not much you can do to keep people out. Even if you have a special account for ARD, if someone else has administrator privileges, they can just turn on Screen Sharing or Remote Management for their account. So only if your users are good about not turning that on can you really keep unauthorized users out of your systems.
You might want to look into "neutered" admin accounts. It's a bit tricky, but it is possible to give some administrator privileges to an account but not all of them. Then you could perhaps allow the privileges your users need but still keep them from giving away the keys to the entire system. There's a PDF of a MacWorld session available here (clicking that link will download a zipped file). It's a bit old, but it should still be valid, and it's sketchy (it's the preso slides) but might provide sufficient information. If it's too sketchy, I have a QuickTime of the session the same people presented in 2008 that I could give you if you have a place to upload it (it's too large to email).

Best way to accept a date from a user

Hi Guys,
Whats the best way to get a date from a user and add it in an
insert record to access.
I have a form that adds a record and it works well enough as
long as the data added is in the correct format.
Untill now ive just had a text box with an explination to the
user on how to add the date and what format....
But Im fed up with having to change bad entrys and need to
place a control or something on the form but dont know whats
easiest and best?
Any ideas welcome.

If you want today's date set the database up to insert the
date
automatically. If you want other dates than today's use a
date picker or
calendar to insert the date.
