Automatically Convert to 128kbps AAC on Sync with Nano?

Hello, my sister owns an iPod Shuffle and I own an iPod nano. On her Shuffle she has the option to Automatically Convert Higher Bitrate Songs to 128kbps AAC when she syncs. Is it possible to have this option on the nano? I don't see it? This would be very helpful as right now I have all my songs ripped off CDs twice, once in Apple Lossless format for playing on my computer, and once at 128kbps AAC to sync to my iPod, which makes for a rather messy library and wastes hard drive space! I find it hard to believe they would not have this option on the more expensive nano.

I've done a little bit of reading and I now have a theory as to why this is. iTunes does this for mobile phones too, and I think it's because mobile phones and the Shuffle cannot play all formats (the Shuffle cannot play Apple Lossless files) so iTunes includes this option for them. It seems a bit of an oversight not to have it for other iPods too.

Hi,
My problem is rather unique and certainly one i hadnt forseen. My iPod starts playing a 'smart playlist' i recently made with itunes 7 after every sync with the computer...the issue is that it starts after 30-40 mins of disconnection from my PC. this is very infurating since i am hardly around to check if it is playing or not. Mostly i find out about it a couple of hours after my last sync with PC. I have tried activating 'hold' button to make sure there is no outside influence however, it does this through a locked drawer!
I hope someone can help me out or include this in the next 'patch/bug fix' for iTunes/ipod

Anyone want to help at all? This is getting a little ridiculous. Honestly, with all the problems I've been having, especially with itunes, I really don't think I'm ever going to buy an apple product again.

Unable to sync with nano

Hi. First time using ipod or itunes.
Synced my nano with my pc. Songs I got from my cd's transferred without a problem. However, it won't let me sync the songs I purchased from itunes. Gives me an error saying that it is not authorized on this computer.
What am I doing wrong?

Did you actually authorize your purchases on that computer? Authorization is triggered by playing the song for a few seconds in iTunes on your computer.

Outlook Calendar and Contact Sync with Nano

Just wondering if apple is working on a service pack for itunes 5.0 that will actually allow itunes to properly sync up with outlook calendar and contacts without getting that -50 error (or -20). forgot error code !!!

Problems syncing with nano 5th gen

I recently purchased a new computer. My 5th generation Nano was working perfectly fine with it until this morning when I tried re-syncing it with new music and it told me I had to restore it. I tried the iTunes restore 3 times and it still refuses to acknowledge it. I am NOT a happy camper. I've had this Nano since 2009 and have had NO problems with it til now.

Game won't sync with nano 4th gen

I bought iQuiz to my nano 4th gen and it clearly says that it is compatible with it, but it just won't sync. It won't even show up in the games tab. I've updated to the newest iTunes and I've updated the software on the nano but it still won't work.
What could I be doing wrong?

I'm sure they don't WANT to read all these postings. I phoned for support for exactly this problem, and I was told in no uncertain terms that Apple "does not support this feature of the Nano Gen.2, or iTunes 7.0 software."
So who DOES support it? Certainly not Microsoft!

IPhoto Albums not Appearing in List to Sync with Nano

I have a second gen nano. I want to sync an iPhoto album on it. When I look at the Photos tab in iTunes, there are no albums listed in the "selected albums" box. In fact, the radio button for that choice is grayed out as well.
How can I get the "selected albums" box to populate?

For anyone reading this later, look at Dave's messages in this thread. I followed his advice to edit the appropriate xml file and it solved the problem.

PURCHASED MOVIES WONT SYNC WITH NANO

ok first off earlier today i received a gift card in which i used to purchase 2 movies off of itunes.but 4 some reason i get the same message over and over again saying im sorry these files cannot be placed on ur ipod.at first i thought it was a new update or my ipod*which is new* but i had some spare vids on my comp in which i used to test and it turned out that every 1i used, worked. and ive been trying to contact apple rep's through some numbers i found and the lady i got basically blew me off and after that no one else picked up.........so ummmm yeah basically what im saying is HELP

All of your content should be in iTunes on the computer.
Connect the device.
Select the content desired to sync.

I have the same issue but with my iPad 2 and iPhone 3GS. Songs play fine in iTunes. If is uncheck Convert higher bit rate songs to 128kbps AAC the no more scratching sounds on my devices.

Our experience is a little different, we have different iTunes accounts for different family members, each family member has their own iTunes library on their own mac, each mac uses my Apple ID for homesharing and we are able to play purchased content from each library on the Apple TV.

When I watch tv shows in Front Row that I've bought off iTunes the audio gradually falls out of sync with the video. It does not happen with other files that I have converted into mp4s. Any ideas for fixing this? It's a huge bummer...

I too have the same problem. The audio drop out of sync in about 5 sec in not uncommon for the audio to be 30+ sec behind video. Apple needs to fix this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its a joke, my iphone is all messed up after the last update as well. at one time not to long ago apple products and software were top rated, not so much any more, more and more problems are showing up and apple is unwilling or unalbe to fix the many issues. Apple needs to fix the audio sync problem, it not the computer hardware or other software it ITUNES!!!!, there is no workaround other then hitting pause and hitting pause and hitting pause to temp fix the problem.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can either back up to iTunes or to iCloud, you you choose to back up to iCloud, back up to iTunes will be turned off. Personally, I'd always back up to iTunes unless there is a good reason not to you.

Probably because you have elected to automatically back up to iCloud instead. You can still manually back up by clicking Back Up Now on the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings, it just won't be automatic.
